The International Monetary Fund discussion post

For a long time, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has had its supporters and detractors. In this discussion, you will have the opportunity to consider some of the IMF’s actions and determine whether they were beneficial as well as ethical.

To help frame this discussion, consider the IMF’s actions in Greece. Greece spent a decade in economic turmoil starting in 2009. The IMF provided financial assistance to “bail out” Greece multiple times during the crisis. Their loans came with requirements that Greece needed to meet. Some argue that the IMF made the crisis much worse, whereas others feel the IMF provided timely support to Greece not long after the global financial crisis of 2008.

In your initial post, use the following questions to guide your responses:

  • When should a government, economy, or country be bailed out, if ever? Justify your answer with specific examples and how the bailout or lack of bailout would impact the global economy and the future of globalization.
  • Ideally, which countries or organizations would provide the economic support for a government that needs a bailout? Is the IMF the ideal organization to bail out a country?
  • Is it ethical for the IMF to bail out countries that repeatedly make bad economic and fiscal decisions? Is it ethical for the IMF to have significant requirements attached to its loans?
  • What lessons should be learned from the Greek debt crisis for countries with debt obligation issues and for organizations such as the IMF?

control function in a manufacturing business

Instructions

BMGT 364 Project 4 (Week 7) – Controlling

Project 4 is due on Tuesday of week 7 at 11:59 p.m. eastern time.

Purpose

In this project, you will gain an understanding of the importance of the control function in a manufacturing business. You will compare actual performance with desired production standards, measure progress toward company goals, and address deviations in performance through corrective action.

Outcome Met by Completing This Assignment

  • develop measures and assess outcomes against plans and standards to improve organizational effectiveness

How to Set Up the Paper

Create a Word or Rich Text Format (RTF) document that is double-spaced using 12-point font.  The final product will be 4-5 pages in length excluding the title page and reference page.

Create a title page with a title, course number and section, your name and the instructor’s name.

Scenario

The following chart displays the results of the first year’s production of the, Lacks Tracks Cycles, an electric-powered chopper-style motorcycle being produced by Lacks Tracks Cycles to compete with Harley-Davidson’s Electra Glide. The metrics table below was created from data supplied by Lacks Tracks Cycles five (5) plants. The purpose of the table is to provide data for management to decide what controls and actions are needed to increase production efficiency.

You recently joined the Lacks Tracks Cycles’ headquarters staff as a quality assurance associate. Your manager has requested you to do an analysis of the first year’s motorcycle production results.  This information will be used by management to evaluate and improve overall production efficiency.

Lacks Tracks Cycles is known for producing high quality products at reasonable prices. They plan to compete against Harley’s top-end model by developing superior production efficiency that will allow them  to price significantly below Harley Davidson’s Electra Glide model.

The chart below lists the desired production standards and the actual production metrics for each stage of the electric-motorcycle’s manufacturing process that needs to be completed to determine the overall production efficiency at each of Lacks Tracks Cycles’ five (5) production facilities.

A comparison of the production standard to the actual production outcomes using all the relevant metrics allows management to determine which of its facilities is the most efficient producer of the electric motorcycle. This knowledge will help Lacks Tracks Cycles’ management team to determine what controls need to be put into place at their various production plants to match the production efficiency of their most efficient plant. More efficiency means higher production at lower per unit (cycle) costs.

(Look at table in document)

Use the following headings and instructions to complete the project:

Introduction

  • Write an Introduction paragraph.  The Introduction paragraph is the first paragraph of the paper and will be used to describe to the reader the intent of the paper explaining the main points covered in the paper.  This intent should be understood prior to reading the remainder of the paper so the reader knows exactly what is being covered in the paper.  The introduction is often written after the paper is completed.

The body of the paper will cover the following:

 Controls

  • Explain what control means in a business setting.
  • Explain why Lacks Tracks must be concerned with the actual production metrics at its plants.

Standard Specifications

  • Compare the metrics table standards to the actual performance outcomes at each of the five (5) plants and explain your findings for each plant.
  • Identify the four (4) most important and common deviations from the standards among the plants and explain why this data is important to Lacks Tracks management.
  • Using course materials identify and explain two (2) types of controls that could be used by Lacks Tracks management to attempt to correct the deviations from standards at its plants.

Total Quality Management

  • Explain why the implementation of a Total Quality Management (TQM) program could improve  operational efficiency at Lacks Tracks.

Conclusion

Create a concluding paragraph.  The conclusion paragraph highlights the major findings covered in the paper.

Benchmark – Proposal for Behavior Change Plan

Teachers must employ a variety of assessments, instructional strategies, and intervention techniques to support their students who are displaying behaviors that are getting in the way of successful learning in the classroom. If initial classroom management efforts are unsuccessful in helping such a student, then it is often determined that the situation warrants a behavior plan. For a behavior plan to be successful, it is imperative that stakeholders collaborate to support the student in reducing the occurrence of challenging behaviors and increasing appropriate behaviors. When appropriate, the student should also be involved in the development of the behavior plan. Providing students with choices and involving them in decision-making aids in the development of self-advocacy and self-determination.

For this benchmark, you will propose a behavioral intervention plan for a student based on the information provided in “Student Scenario: Joseph.” Use the “Proposal for Behavior Change Template” to complete this assignment.

Part 1: Data Collection and Definition of Student Behavior

Describe Joseph’s behaviors on the ABC chart using the “Proposal for Behavior Change Template” provided. Create one measurable, observable operational definition for Joseph’s challenging behavior.

Part 2: Analysis of Data

The hypothesis is a best guess of the cause of the function of behavior that summarizes the observations. It includes the when (antecedent or trigger), the what (behavior of student), and the why (outcome student’s target behavior: attention, tangible, or escape).

Part 3: Intervention Ideas and Replacement Behaviors

Based on your analysis of the FBA data and the operational definition for Joseph’s behavior, identify an appropriate replacement behavior.

Part 4: Proposed Intervention Plan

Propose an intervention plan that outlines one goal for Joseph and includes the following:

  • Replacement behavior and specific steps to be implemented that will help Joseph reach each goal.
  • Strategies to manage activities and social interaction through collaboration with general educators and other colleagues .
  • Rewards and reinforcements you will use with Joseph.
  • A plan to monitor progress by gathering ongoing data from colleagues and student’s family .
  • Steps to resolve any escalation of behavior safely and appropriately .

Be sure to incorporate appropriate intervention and replacement behavior ideas identified in Part 3.

Part 5: Reflection

In a 250-500 word summary reflect upon how you, in your future professional practice, will ensure formal and informal assessments of student behaviors are unbiased and technically sound, considering culture, language, gender, and ability differences.

Support your template responses with 1-2 scholarly resources.

Assignment 2: Marketing of the Acquisition by EDUS

In this assignment, you will research information related to the marketing and promotion of the acquisition by EDUS and provide an assessment. Click here to review the EDUS case and consider the following:

Topics for Research and Analysis

Promotional Goals: Identify specific objectives related to the promotion of EDUS’s acquisition of the institution. In addition, identify specific objectives related to informing potential students of new capabilities and offerings resulting from the acquisition. (Promotional goals vary. Some organizations need to create awareness of their product’s benefits compared to competitors. Other promotional goals may involve communicating new uses for an item, or informing customers or lower prices.)

Business Environment: Identify cultural and legal factors that might influence promotional decisions – both in announcing the acquisition within the region and recruiting new students to the institution. (In some countries, certain information is required in television commercials selling products aimed at children.)

Media Plan: Analyze media availability to determine cost-efficient methods of communicating with potential students within the country and within the geographic region. (While television, radio, newspapers, magazines, and the Internet may be common in industrialized countries, developing economies may require other different media. In some countries, advertising messages are broadcast through large speakers mounted on moving trucks.)

Promotional Strategy: Compare the benefits of push-and-pull promotions for acquiring new students at the institution. Devise a promotional strategy that will help EDUS expand the student body and also inform potential students of increased capability of the institution resulting from this acquisition.

Economic, Cultural, and Political-Legal Environment: Investigate the economic, cultural, and political-legal environment that might affect promotional messages and media relevant to this acquisition.

Recommended Actions: Recommend EDUS actions related to promotional goals, needed adaptations due to cultural or legal factors, and a media plan. Provide evidence to support your recommendations.

Conclusions: Draw conclusions about the material you have presented. The opinions or judgments you present should be supported by your research.

By the due date assigned, submit a PowerPoint presentation (approximately 10 slides) providing your analysis and research findings on the topics indicated. You are expected to include statistical data when possible, including tables, graphs, and other visuals that support and enhance your study. Most importantly, all written assignments and responses should follow APA rules for attributing sources! Submit your document to the Submissions Area.

Discussion Grading Table  Maximum Points    Developed information on all required areas of inquiry as stated in the activity.  40    Drew conclusions about promotional goals, business environments, and promotional strategies relevant to the acquisition of MCU.  50    Wrote in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrated ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources; displayed accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.  10

Consumer Informatics/Telehealth Case Study

Mr. Kasich is a 77-year old who was recently taken to the emergency room after he fell when trying to get out of bed. There, he was found to have a blood glucose level of 35 milligrams per deciliter and was diagnosed with uncontrolled type 2 diabetes mellitus and hypoglycemia despite many years of well-maintained the blood glucose levels. After further assessment, Mr. Kasich was transferred to a medical room in the hospital. His background includes diagnosed with type two diabetes mellitus, advanced congestive heart failure and lung cancer. Has Medicare parts A and B. Lives with wife in a remote area that is 40 miles from the closest healthcare provider. Is proficient using his home computer. Mr. Lane is a 42-year old who was admitted for exacerbation of heart failure. His background includes has diabetes mellitus type two. Is a long-haul truck driver with a large trucking company. Is privately insured. Is single and primarily lives in his truck. Both Mr. Kasich and Mr. Lane are going home with telehealth consisting of a telemonitoring device that transmits weight, blood pressure, blood glucose levels and pulse oximetry to a remote telehealth nurse. Even though the use of telehealth does not often include hands on interaction, the goal of keeping patients out of a hospital is consistent with quality nursing practice. Telehealth applications are designed to enhance the patient experience and improve clinical outcomes while providing care for patients in their home environment rather than an institutional setting. Telehealth supports self-care by empowering patients, which is a central tenet of nursing practice.

Review the case scenario above and address the following.

1-Discuss how telehealth can assist to address equality of health care resource distribution. What barriers must be removed to achieve well-being, sufficiency, and health care access for all?

2-In your discussion, consider concepts such as equity, respect, self-determinism, health literacy, cyclic disadvantage, and health care disparities among marginalized populations or groups.

3-Compare and contrast how each patient may benefit from telehealth services and the ethical considerations from the viewpoint of the nurse

Please answer each question separated and use at least 3 sources no later than 5 years.

Instructional Planning

In this assignment you will demonstrate your understanding of the learning objectives: Evaluate various assessment data the drives classroom instruction for the individual student and Describe the factors to consider when planning appropriate research-based instructional approaches for student with mild to moderate disabilities.  Additionally, completion of this assignment represents an introduction to Course Learning Outcome 3 and MASE Program Learning Outcomes 1, and 4.

In order to create dynamic lesson plans that engage all students at their present levels of performance, instructional planning must be driven by formal and informal assessment results.  Formal assessments include data collected through standard scores that are collected by trained professionals such as the school psychologist. This can include educational assessments such as Henry’s assessment in Week 3.

Informal assessments, on the other hand, are typically content-based and are administered by the teacher to measure a student’s achievement on classroom instruction.  For example, can include a ‘thumbs up or thumbs down’, a morning warm-up of information from the day before, or a brief quiz at the end of a lesson.  Teachers also assess students through informal observations by walking around the classroom during group activities and independent practice or during whole group instruction.

Mr. Franklin and you spend quite a bit of time together planning instruction to meet the needs of all your students.  Because he is considered the content expert while you are the content delivery expert (access specialist), he looks to you for guidance on creative and engaging lesson plans that are determined by assessment data results and the student’s IEP written plan.  The lesson you are creating must meet the needs of your 28 students, with seven who have been identified as having specialized academic and/or behavioral needs.
