International Team Expectations Assignment

Overview

Managing an international team will present unexpected challenges. You are in different time zones; you have different schedules; you come from different cultures; and your own communication style may be different from that of members of your team. Success of a geographically distributed team can be fostered by setting expectations that are informed by best practices and the cultures of your team members.

Scenario

Your company is expanding into a new market and has formed a new team that it would like you to manage. Your manager has sent you this note:

Thank you for taking on this challenge. You have a great team, but they come from very diverse backgrounds. It’ll be up to you to make sure it is a cohesive team that communicates well and collaborates effectively. As you know, at our firm, we feel the management of our teams and human resource management are a strategic advantage for us. I would like you to write an email explaining to me what managerial approaches you will use and how you think your team will function together. Please also include your conference call invitation for your team’s introduction. I would like to review what you are going to send to your team.

Prompt

For this assignment, you will write an email and introductory conference call invitation as requested by your manager.

Team Member Locations

Your team consists of the following four members from various locations across the globe:

  1. Kaspar was born in and is based in the country you choose for your course project.
  2. Kelly was born in and is based in the United States.
  3. Syed was born in and is based in the United Arab Emirates.
  4. Nina was born in and is based in India.

Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:

  • Write an email to your manager explaining how you plan to manage your team. It should include the following information:
    • Cultural considerations for each team member (For the purposes of this assignment, you can assume that each team member represents the average cultural dimensions of an average citizen of the country, and you are encouraged to use the Hofstede Insights: Compare Countries website.)
    • Common issues among diverse or global teams and potential conflicts that could occur in your team
    • Multiple management approaches you plan to use and why
    • A policy for selecting which holidays team members can take off that takes into account cultural considerations
    • A determination of whether your team will collaboratively create a team expectations and communication plan or whether you as the manager will do it on your own, explaining your decision
  • Create a conference call invitation, including the time of the meeting and agenda, using this Conference Call Invitation Template.

Guidelines for Submission

Submit your email as a 200- to 350-word Microsoft Word document. Submit your conference call invitation by completing the Conference Call Invitation Template. Sources should be cited according to APA style.

Create a Database

Take a research issue you are currently tackling in your doctoral studies;  or if you don’t have one, then create one related to a research or industry problem of interest. An example in the healthcare economics space could be exploring the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the textile industry in China, relative to the reported impact of the 1918  Spanish Flu pandemic.

For this week’s assignment, you must create a MySQL database to capture the fields (variables of interest) needed to analyze and report on your topic. You will need at least three tables with 3 to 5 fields in each table.

Using MySQL Workbench, perform the following tasks:

  • Create a new schema named mydatabase (leave Default Charset and Default Collation as is).
  • Create at least three tables for your database with the appropriate attributes (fields) to meet the needs of the selected topic.
  • No two tables should contain duplicate fields that would essentially capture the same data unless the field is a primary or foreign key field (i.e., a unique identifier used to link two tables together, such as a customer ID, or social security number).
  • Use a variety of data types for your fields, with at least one string type, one numeric type, and one date/time type.
  • Put at least 3 rows of sample data into each table.
  • Generate a diagram of your database by going to Database à Reverse Engineer  (leave default settings). Select Continue, then select the mydatabase schema, then execute. Then, save the diagram as mydatabase.mwb and take a screenshot of the entire schema diagram.
  • Paste the screenshot of your schema into a new Word document. Please be sure to add a standard assignment title page at the beginning of your Word document and a 1 to 2-paragraph description of your business.
  • Submit your schema diagram file (with entity-relationships shown or drawn in; a  screenshot of this or the file in picture format), screenshots of your tables with data (run select query on the tables and take a screenshot of the results).

Length: The number of pages varies with screenshots.

The completed assignment should address all of the assignment requirements,  exhibit evidence of concept knowledge, and demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the content presented in the course.

Case Study 2: Plain View, Open Fields, Abandonment, and Border Searches as They Relate to Search and Seizures

Officer Williams asked the neighborhood’s regular trash collector to put the content of the defendant’s garbage that was left on the curb in plastic bags and to turn over the bags to him at the end of the day. The trash collector did as the officer asked in order to not mix the garbage once he collected the defendant’s garbage. Then, Officer Williams’ partner, Officer Martinez, searched through the garbage and found items indicative of narcotics use. Officer Williams and Officer Martinez then recited the information that was obtained from the trash in an affidavit in support of a warrant to search the defendant’s home. Officer Martinez and Officer Williams encountered the defendant at the house later that day upon execution of the warrant. The officers found quantities of cocaine and heroin during the search and arrested the defendant on felony narcotics charges.

Write a 1- to 2-page paper in which you:

  1. Identify the constitutional amendment that would govern Officer Williams’ and Officer Martinez’ actions.
  2. Analyze the validity and constitutionality of the officers’ actions.
  3. Assess if the officers’ actions were justified under the doctrines of plain view, abandonment, open fields, or border searches. Support your response by citing specific case law and/or contemporary cases.
  4. Use at least three quality references. Note:Wikipedia and other similar websites do not qualify as academic resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • This course requires use of new Strayer Writing Standards (SWS). The format is different than other Strayer University courses. Please take a moment to review the SWS documentation for details.
  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow SWS or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Research and analyze procedures governing the process of arrest through trial.
  • Critically debate the constitutional safeguards of key amendments with specific attention to the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 14th Amendments.
  • Describe the difference between searchers, warrantless searches, and stops.
  • Write clearly and concisely about the criminal procedure using proper writing mechanics.

Grading for this assignment will be based on answer quality, logic/organization of the paper, and language and writing skills, using the following rubric

Care of Adults

Hello, please are two tasks. Task # 1 is a Care Plan, below I attach two forms in words that must be completed. Task # 2 is a Case Study that has three items a, b, and c, which must be answered independently.

  Required Textbooks and Reading Material:

Touhy, Theris DNP and Jett, Kathleen, (2018). Ebersole and Hess’ Gerontological Nursing & Healthy Aging, 5th Edition. Elsevier. ISBN: 9780323401678

Task # 1

1. Care Plan

What is a nursing care plan?

A nursing care plan (NCP) is a formal process that includes correctly identifying existing needs, as well as recognizing potential needs or risks. Care plans also provide a means of communication among nurses, their patients, and other healthcare providers to achieve health care outcomes. Without the nursing care planning process, quality and consistency in patient care would be lost.

Medical Diagnosis: Alzheimer’s disease

Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive disease that destroys memory and other important mental functions. It’s the most common cause of dementia – a group of brain disorders that results in the loss of intellectual and social skills. These changes are severe enough to interfere with day-to-day life. In Alzheimer’s disease, the connections between brain cells and the brain cells themselves degenerate and die, causing a steady decline in memory and mental function.

Task # 2

2. Case Study

What is a nursing case study?

A nursing case study is an in-depth study of a patient that is encountered during the student’s daily practice in a practicum. They are important learning experiences because the student can apply classroom/theoretical learning to an actual situation and perhaps make some conclusions and recommendations.

Case Study,   Critical Thinking, Ethical Decision Making, and the Nursing Process

1. Mrs. Elle, 80 years of age, is a female patient who is diagnosed with end-stage cancer of the small intestine. She is currently receiving comfort measures only in hospice. She has gangrene of her right foot and has a history of diabetes controlled with oral agents. She is confused and the physician has determined that she is unable to make her own informed decisions. The hospice nurse, not realizing that the weekly order for CBC and renal profile had been discontinued, obtained the labs and sent them to the nearby laboratory for processing. The abnormal lab results obtained later that day revealed that the patient needed a blood transfusion. The hospice nurse updated the patient’s medical power of attorney who was distressed at the report. The patient’s wishes were to die peacefully and to not have to undergo an amputation of her right foot. But if the patient receives the blood transfusion, she may live long enough to need the amputation. The patient’s physician had previously informed the medical power of attorney that the patient would most likely not be able to survive the amputation. The patient’s medical power of attorney had made the request to cease all labs so that the patient would receive comfort measures until she died. The patient has no complaint of shortness of breath or discomfort. (Learning Objective 4)

a. What ethical dilemma exists?

b. Who are the stakeholders and what gains or losses do each have?

c. What strategies should the hospice nurse take to resolve the ethical dilemma?
