Consider how compensation for healthcare services shape delivery of care, and reflects policy and policy changes and write a paper that addresses the bullets below. Be sure to completely address each bullet point. There should be four (4) sections in your paper; one for each bullet below. Separate each section in your paper with a clear brief heading that allows your professor to know which bullet you are addressing in that section of your paper. Include a “Conclusion” section that summarizes all topics. This assignment will be at least 1250 words.

This week you will reflect upon accountability in healthcare finance to address the following:

  • Discuss the history of private health insurance and manage care and how it involved into a healthcare industry?  
  • Identify the key federal laws that protect individuals who are enrolled in private insurance.
  • Briefly discuss consumer-driven healthcare and the empowerment of the healthcare consumer.
  • Explore the opportunities which have emerged for nurses within the private insurance market.

Assignment Expectations

Length: 1250-1500 words in length

Structure: Include a title page and reference page in APA format. These do not count towards the minimal word amount for this assignment.  Your essay must include an introduction and a conclusion.

References: Use the appropriate APA  7th edition style in-text citations and references for all resources utilized to answer the questions. A minimum of two (2) scholarly sources are required for this assignment.

The United States has a unique system of health care delivery which has evolved over time. Although the U.S. health care delivery system has evolved in response to cost, access, and quality, there are often assertions made about health care delivery in the United States. For example, according to Mary Mahon (2015), VP of Public Information at the Commonwealth Fund, the U.S. spends more on health care than other high-income nations, but has a lower life expectancy and worse health.

Case Assignment

After completing the assigned readings, you should have a basic understanding of the characteristics and components of the U.S. health care delivery system. For the Module 1 Case Assignment, review the following assumptions regarding health care in the U.S. (Greenwald, 2010).     If you have had to hit the pavement in search of a job, then none of the websites listed for this discussion are new to you.  The goal of this exercise is to show students the breath and nature of the different types of jobs within the supply chain management field.  Building on the initial time studies by Fredrick Taylor, Frank and Lillian Gilbreth, supply management has become vital profession as well as a strategic partner in every industry since the 20th century.
    Procurement, purchasing, buying, logistics, transportation, inventory, shipping, receiving, program management, project management, special projects etc. are all part of the field.  There are different skill sets, education and experience required for each type of job.  It is a dynamic field and never boring.

This week’s exercise will be to create a Risk Register for the Week 2 Business Case that you have utilized throughout the semester. Additional instructions are in the Word template.

You will complete the attached Risk Register in Excel. A risk needs to be identified for each of your six (6) Key Deliverables (this would be listed under the Category column). This needs to be a thorough, well thought out risk register which provides detailed thought and consideration. An example of the Risk Register is available in Exhibit 11.9 on page 370 of the textbook.

The following is a description of what should go under each column.

Risk Description: Identify the Risk associated with the Deliverable.

Impact: This is a narrative of potential impact if the risk should occur.

Category: This will be the associated Deliverable

Probability: This is a score of 1-5. A score of 1 would be if the probability of the risk occurring is very slight and a score of 5 is that is will almost likely occur.

Impact: This is a score of 1-5. A score of 1 would be the impact would have little impact if the risk occurs and a score of 5 would be catastrophic impact if risk event occurs.

Score: This is the Probability multiplied by the Impact.

Mitigation Strategy/Solution: This should be a detailed plan on how to either limit the Probability of the risk event from occurring and/or a plan to reduce the Impact if it does occur. This must include direct correlation to the scores assigned to Probability/Impact.
