Leadership Journal Entry Turabian format

Leadership Journal Entry Instructions

In each module/week of the course you will write a journal entry based on a provided prompt. This prompt is to encourage you to reflect on what you have learned throughout each module/week of this course. There is not a minimum or maximum word count per week, but you will be graded on quality of response. It is expected that you have honestly and fully reflected on each prompt in your post. Your instructor will be the only one who will see your journal entry.

Module/Week 1: Conduct a brief survey (not interview)/research on any individual you deem a leader in history. Specifically, I am looking for people who have passed away so you can see and consider their entire legacy. Summarize this leader’s role in leadership and what made them a leader worth following. The leader could be a religious leader, political leader, military leader, business leader, or a historical leader. Make sure the leader you choose is someone with a similar type of leadership domain as you currently have or hope to have in the future. Therefore, chaplaincy students should survey someone tangentially related to the ministry of the chaplain while a Human Services student should probably survey someone in the field of counseling or human services. Seminary students should likewise survey a leader in the field of ministry similar to your future goals. Make sure this is a leader you would be willing to follow. Then explain what you think makes this leader one that is worth emulating? What about this leader’s life encouraged others to follow him/her?

Assignment: Introduction to Quantitative Analysis: Descriptive Analysis

Please read instructions carefully

In this Assignment, you will differentiate between the proper use of summary statistics for categorical and continuous level data. In this exercise, you will explore what output is provided for each of these variables and provide some meaning from these statistics for your reader. The ability to place the statistics into a context that your reader understands and can make sense of is a highly desirable skill.

For this Introduction to Quantitative Analysis: Descriptive Analysis Assignment, you will examine the same two variables you used from your Week 2 Assignment and perform the appropriate descriptive analysis of the data given.

To prepare for this Assignment:

  • Review this week’s Learning Resources and the Central Tendency and Variability media program.
  • For additional support, review the Skill Builder: Measures of Central Tendency for Continuous Variables, Skill Builder: Standard Deviation as a Measure of Variability for Continuous Variables and the Skill Builder: Measures of Central Tendency and Variability for Categorical Variables, which you can find by navigating back to your Blackboard Course Home Page. From there, locate the Skill Builder link in the left navigation pane.
  • Using the SPSS software, open the Afrobarometer dataset from your Assignment in Week 2.
  • Choose the same two variables you chose from your Week 2 Assignment and perform the appropriate descriptive analysis of the data.
  • Once you perform your descriptive analysis, review Chapter 11 of the Wagner text to understand how to copy and paste your output into your Word document.

Write a 2- to 3-paragraph analysis of your descriptive analysis results and include a copy and paste your output from your analysis into your final document.

Based on the results of your data, provide a brief explanation of what the implications for social change might be. Early in your Assignment, when you relate which dataset you analyzed, please include the mean of the following variables. If you are using the Afrobarometer Dataset, report the mean of Q1 (Age).

Use appropriate APA format, citations and referencing. Refer to the APA manual for appropriate citation.

Week 2 Project History of Art from the Middle age to Modern Times

Week 2 ProjectAssignment Task: Submit to complete this assignment Due May 11 at 12:59 AM

Religion in Sixteenth- and Seventeenth-Century European Art

Whether artists were working under the patronage of a Catholic Pope, endorsing a Counter-Reformation agenda, or producing art influenced by the Protestant Reformation, religion had an undeniable impact on the creation of art in the High Renaissance and Baroque periods in Europe.

Carefully examine the following works, and read about each one in your textbook, course and video lectures, and through reliable internet resources:

  • Michelangelo, Sistine Chapel Ceiling, 1508-12
  • Grünewald, Isenheim Altarpiece, 1510-15
  • Durer, Four Apostles, 1526
  • Caravaggio, The Calling of St. Matthew, 1599-1600
  • Rubens, Elevation of the Cross, 1610

In an essay of 5-7 well-developed paragraphs, address each of the following questions, making specific references to the five paintings listed above:

  1. How does each painting reflect the religious context in which it was created? What is the religious context or influence apparent in each painting?
  2. What additional historical events may have influenced the creation of each painting?
  3. What, if any, was the influence of the patron of each painting?
  4. Explain how the style and specific visual characteristics of each painting contributed to or reflected its overall religious context or meaning, especially for contemporary audiences.

Include specific details about the visual characteristics and content of each painting in your response.

Provide proper citations for any information from outside sources included in your essay.

watch video and list 10 importand things.

Before you complete this assignment, watch my recorded lecture(s) and all the other assigned videos in this module. Then, list the 10 most important and/or interesting things you learned from the lecture and/or other videos in this module. Note that this assignment is specifically for the video material posted in this module (not the textbook or other readings). You get to define “important” here, but an “important thing” could for example be a new concept you learned, an interesting theory, a memorable example study, a significant research finding, etc.

Rank your items starting from 1 and ending with 10. Try to (at least somewhat) rank order them so the most important is number 1, the second most important is number 2, and so on. But if you find it hard to exactly rank order them, try to at least create some order (e.g. item 1 seems more important to you than item 5).

IMPORTANT:

  • This assignment needs to be written entirely in your own words (paraphrased). Do not copy and paste the text from any sources (this assignment has an automatic plagiarism check – see below).
  • At least THREE of your items MUST come from my lectures (some lecture topics overlap with other videos and readings, and that’s fine, but you must show that you are familiar with the content of my lectures). You don’t have to specifically indicate which video each item is from. In addition, show learning from multiple video sources besides the lectures. When you watch the assigned videos, look for things that you might want to include in your Top 10. However, not every assigned video has to appear in the list.
  • Use academic terminology and show your learning. For each of the items, define and explain the relevant concepts, and explain why it is important in your opinion. Use full sentences. Each item should be about 3-5 full sentences (or longer; there’s no upper limit, but these don’t have to be longer than that).

For example, this would NOT be enough:

1. Correlation

2. The placebo effect

You need to define the conceptsdescribe the items with some details and explain what you found significant about them. Throughout this assignment, use academic terminology learned from the class material.

This assignment is not graded for “accuracy” in the sense that I’m not going to evaluate how important the items in my opinion are, but the items must be relevant and show evidence of viewing the lecture(s) and other assigned videos.

FINAL PROJECT: read the following information carefully

FINAL PROJECT: read the following information carefully

Due:  send the assignment to my email, not to UR Courses, no later than 6 p.m. [Regina time] on Monday Dec. 7 in order to receive a grade and to avoid a final course grade of NP.

Send your assignment when you are 100% sure you are finished.  I will accept and evaluate one email response only, not multiple emailed responses that are sent later with added information or corrections.

In order to adhere to the deadlines created by the university and the English department, there are no extensions or late assignments allowed.  The Dec. 7 deadline applies to all students, including international and special needs students. You are advised not to leave the assignment until the last minute lest you forget about it, or are rushed, or have computer problems, etc.

Questions about the project must be sent no later than 1 p.m.  Dec.4.  Note that I, and any other source of help, are very limited as to what questions we can answer, since one of the goals of the assignment is for you to show your proofreading skills.  For example, we can go over what a comma splice is; we cannot tell you if a specific sentence in the essay is a comma splice or not.  We can remind you what is needed in a good thesis statement; we cannot tell you if the essay has a good or weak thesis statement.  We cannot proofread or pre-evaluate your paragraphs.

Goal:  The project is to allow you to demonstrate that you understand the elements that are required to produce an acceptable academic essay based on what we have covered this semester, and that you have improved your writing and reading skills.  You are required to undergo a thorough evaluation of a sample student’s essay, which has been posted in two formats:  Microsoft word and PDF.  I recommend that you print out a copy of the student’s essay.  It is very difficult to proofread on a computer screen.

YOUR requirements for the assignment are the following.  There are six separate parts needed for your response.  Please present your answers clearly so they can be easily understood and evaluated.

Part One: make a list regarding the requirements for the student’s essay.  The requirements are given below.  Has the essay met all of the requirements?   If not, which ones are missing or are incorrect? No lengthy explanations are required.

Part Two: for each paragraph, list the types and the number of grammatical errors and unacceptable writing errors you find.

For example–

1. In paragraph #1 there are three sentence fragments…

2.    in paragraph #2 there are three spelling errors and four apostrophe errors

           and so on

Part Three: by examining the essay as a whole, find one example of each of the following types of errors; then correct the sentence in which the error is found, without changing the meaning of the sentence.  Indicate by the paragraph # where the error occurs.

Comma splice

Run-on sentence

Sentence fragment

Apostrophe

Spelling

Passive voice

Subject-verb agreement

Pronoun reference

WTA

Tone:

  Informal diction

  point of view

Quotation use

Part Four: for the thesis statement and for each of the six paragraphs, identify and list 3-5 specific weaknesses in terms of their content [this is about the ideas that are presented in each paragraph, not how they are being presented in terms of grammar/expression]. No lengthy explanations are required.

Part Five: Choose one of the four middle paragraphs and rewrite it as an example of acceptable university-level writing in a formal, unified paragraph of 6-8 sentences.  The content/analysis must be based on one of the points raised in the paragraph and it must be related to the topic assigned to the student.  Start the paragraph with an underlined topic sentence.

Part Six: In another paragraph of 6-8 sentences, produce your own response based on a point not raised in the student’s essay. You are writing a formal, unified middle paragraph that needs to answer this topic:

Which ghost has the greatest significance on Scrooge’s transformation and why?

The paragraph needs to start with an underlined topic sentence.  It can be based on your choice of any ghost in the novel.  If you choose one of the ghosts that is discussed in the student’s essay, your paragraph must analyze a different idea than anything he wrote about.

assignment should be Australian based.

Early in its history JetBlue achieved a competitive advantage based on value innovation. In particular, JetBlue was able to drive up perceived costumer value while lowering costs. This allowed it to carve out a strong strategic position and move to a non-contested market space. This implies that no other competitors in the U.S. domestic airline industry were able to provide such value innovation at that point in time. Rather than directly competing with other airlines, JetBlue created a blue ocean.

Although JetBlue was able to create an initial competitive advantage, it was unable to sustain it over time. Because JetBlue failed in reconciling the strategic trade-offs inherent in combing differentiation and cost leadership, it was unable to continue its blue ocean strategy, despite initial success. Since 2007 JetBlue experienced a sustained competitive disadvantage, at one point in 2014 lagging the S&P 500 index by more than 100 percentage points.

A new leadership team CEO Robin Hayes put in place in early 2015 is attempting to reverse this trend. The new team made quick changes to improve the airline’s flagging profitability. It decided to start charging $50 per checked bag instead of offering it as a free service. Moreover, it also removed the additional legroom JetBlue was famous for in the industry, adding 10 percent more seats on its airplanes. It remains to be seen if JetBlue’s strategic repositioning will be successful.

  1. Despite its initial success, why was JetBlue unable to sustain a blue ocean strategy?
  2. JetBlue’s chief marketing officer, Marty St. George, was asked by The Wall Street Journal, “What is the biggest marketing challenge JetBlue faces?” His response: “We are flying in a space where our competitors are moving toward commoditization. We have taken a position that air travel is not a commodity but a services business. We want to stand out, but it’s hard to break through to customers with that message.”
    • A. Given St. George’s statement, which strategic position is JetBlue trying to accomplish: differentiator, cost leader, or blue ocean strategy? Explain why.
    • B. Which strategic moves has the new CEO, Robin Hayes, put in place? Do these moves correspond to St. George’s understanding of JetBlue’s strategic position? Why or why not? Explain.
  • Consider JetBlue’s value curve in Exhibit 6.10. Why is JetBlue experiencing a competitive advantage? What recommendations would you offer to JetBlue to strengthen its strategic profile? Be specific.

BIOL 203 Lab Report Assignment

Format: Your paper must follow the format outlined below. The format of this paper follows the APA research report format. An example of this format can be found at: http://www.thewritesource.com/apa/apa.pdfTitle Page:    The title page should be on a separate sheet of paper and contain the title of the report, your name, the name(s) of your lab partner(s),the course number and the date that the report was submitted.

The body of the paper should contain the following clearly labeled sections:

Abstract: In this section, you will include a single paragraph to summarize the background and main results. Write this part last.  Introduction: An introduction provides a concise statement, in paragraph form, of thepurpose or aims of the experiment as well as the relevant background about the experiment. Although the introduction varies with the style of the author and tests performed, it should only contain information that is relevant to the case. The introduction should be about one typed page in length. You must include a hypothesis based on the information in Aria’s case. Give the reasoning for your hypothesis based on what is known about the function of the cranial nerves.  Make sure to cite all references properly in the body of the paper Procedures:  This section explicitly describes the details of the tests performed. Do not copy directly from the lab manual but do cite the manual as a reference. Describe in your own words the procedures you used to test the functions of cranial nerves.

Results:

This section is used to present your results. You should not report raw data. It should be tabulated and presented in the form of tables and graphs. Make sure that all tables and graphs are labeled appropriately. Be sure to include data for both the control and the experimental subjects.

Discussion: The data is analyzed and discussed in this section.  It is important to interpret the data, not simply restate it.  Here is where you relate your experimental results to existing knowledge of the function of the cranial nerves.  Are your results in agreement with your hypothesis?  Discuss this, and try to explain any discrepancies.  What are the main points of uncertainty in interpreting your data?  You may speculate, but acknowledge that you are doing that.  Include suggestions that you may have for improving the design of the tests.  If you use material from other sources to support your discussion, you must cite the reference.

Literature Cited: Use the APA format for citations within the paper and in your reference list.  Consult  http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/if you are unfamiliar with this format.
