Week 2 Project PHE4055 Public Health Planning and Evaluation

  • Week 2 ProjectAssignment Task: Submit to complete this assignment Due June 14 at 11:59 PMNeeds Assessments
Community health assessments are used by health planners to identify, and prioritize health problems within a given community. To prioritize health programs and their development, a needs assessment is used. There are four types of needs that should be considered in a needs assessment. Although there is no single way to conduct a needs assessment, the basic steps to conducting a needs assessment can be identified.
Using the South University Online Library or the Internet, research about needs assessments and the types of health needs in your community. Based on your research, create a 4- to 5-page Microsoft Word document that:

    • Describes the four types of needs and compares them. Explains the interaction of the four types and the role of each type of need in the community assessment process.
    • Selects one of the four needs and provides an example of how this need can be applied to a health issue in your community. Describes the potential pitfalls of focusing a needs assessment on a single need. Provides examples to support your assertions.
    • Identifies and describes the basic steps of conducting a needs assessment and also explains the importance of each.
    • Describes any additional steps that should be considered in the assessment process.
    • Submission Details:
    • Name your document SU_PHE4055_W2_Project_LastName_FirstInitial.doc.
    • Cite any sources in APA format.

Discussion 2: Organizational Injustice and Deviant Behavior

Deviant workplace behaviors are employee behaviors that violate organizational norms. These behaviors can manifest as corruption on a large scale, but more often they are subtler erosions of time and productivity, for example through chronic lateness. These behaviors can impact the following areas: production (e.g., cyber-loafing), property (e.g., theft), politics (e.g., supervisor asking an employee to work outside his or her job description), or personal (e.g., bullying). There are myriad reasons why employees exhibit deviant behaviors: feeling slighted, underutilized, or treated unfairly. Feelings of injustice have been associated with deviant behaviors. Think about how perceptions of injustice and the resulting organizational deviant behavior can be addressed by organizational leadership.

In this Discussion, you will explore the effects of deviant behavior on an organization and consider strategies for addressing them.

To prepare for this Discussion:

Consider the various types of organizational deviant behavior, including possible reasons and consequences.

Read the article “An Empirical Study Analyzing Job Productivity in Toxic Workplace Environments.” Reflect on what would happen if a toxic environment, resulting from a climate of deviant behavior, is left unchecked.

Read the article “Disentangling the Relationship Between Implicit Aggressiveness and Counterproductive Work Behaviors: The Role of Job Attitudes.” Consider the role of individual characteristics (or traits) such as aggressiveness or feelings of injustice and how it relates to other counterproductive work behavior.

Read the article “The Dark Triad and Workplace Behavior.” Consider the “dark triad” of workplace behaviors and the type of organizational climate that can exacerbate them.

Read the article “The Dark Side of Personality Predicts Positive and Negative Work Attitudes.” Identify personal traits and the effect, both positive and negative, they can have in an organization.

Read the article “Surveying the Forest: A Meta‐Analysis, Moderator Investigation, and Future‐Oriented Discussion of the Antecedents of Voluntary Employee Turnover.” Consider how justice can mediate commitment and withdrawal cognitions.

Read the article “Understanding and Mitigating Cynicism the Workplace.” Consider leadership and supervisory behaviors that can help mitigate deviant behaviors in the workplace.

Read the article “Where the Bullies Are.” Reflect on the conditions that might increase the likelihood of bullying behavior and what can be done to address it before it negatively impacts the organization.

By Day 5

Post a response to the following:

Provide an example of one organizational deviant behavior and explain why it is deviant. Explain whether perceptions of injustice lead to organizational deviant behavior or whether there could be other sources of this deviant behavior. How could your example of deviant behavior impact the organization? Are there ways organizations can offset the negative effects of deviant behavior? Explain.

BMGT 485 Week 4

Week 4: Understanding the Industry and Its Environment

Skill #4: Collect knowledge and information about current events, technology, the business environment, the client’s business, your company and consider this when making decisions.

Looking back to week one and the recommendations you made in the week one assessment in conjunction with this week’s material consider EC’s position in the industry, their current customers and those in the future and identify trends, ideas, and technology that you feel Dwight should consider in growing the company. For this skill, Dwight wants to see how well you can judge the external trends for the business by measuring your understanding of a SWOT analysis. For this, he has prepared a SWOT TABLE for you to evaluate. See the Quiz he has prepared under the week four content area for the directions.

Skill #5: Know the basics of knowledge management.

Inga Swanson was one of the first employees Dwight and Ike hired. She runs the customer relations department and now the online returns and rewards programs as well. Recently she has gone to Dwight and Ike with the idea that her commitments to the webstore are getting so demanding that she needs help in several areas. She wants to hire people to take over the customer relations department and online returns so she can focus on the webstore and move into a marketing role. She thinks that Dwight and Ike should consider this move for two important reasons; better decision making and should anything happen to her the whole online and customer relations departments would shut down. Ike agreed immediately and Dwight was right behind him. The problem Dwight realized almost immediately was how would the transition work with all that knowledge in Inga’s head? and all the tools she uses to measure her marketing goals etc. How can we make good decisions without them?

Dwight wants you to look at the idea of collecting and storing the knowledge Inge and the others have in the business. Using the course material and prior business class experience complete a brief 2-3 page memo outlining the steps a manager might take to make the transition go smoothly. In the outline include:

  • Explain how to capture, collect, and store knowledge for the company.
  • Explain how these actions will affect performance in the company.
  • Describe how you go about collecting knowledge from Inge.
  • Explain how the knowledge will affect the hiring decisions for the new departments or should it be teams?
  • Explain how it could affect Inge’s new role.

Scenario:

In early 1975, brothers John and Michael Phillips founded the Stone Horse Supply Company. John and Michael, both horse riders and horse owners, had developed a horse feed to keep their own horses healthier and happier and found it in demand from other locals and neighbors. In response to that growing local demand, John and Michael converted their small home operation into a rented building in town and went forward with the business of manufacturing and selling specialized horse feeds.   Through the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s, the Rock Horse Food Supply Company enjoyed modest prosperity, providing niche products to the local area with their products selling in most of the nearby counties. However, in early 2006, the situation began to dramatically change. In early 2006, John and Michael were contacted by representative of the largest chain of stores in the region. One of the officers of the large chain was a horse owner and had been buying the special horse feed for his horse. The officer felt that because she enjoyed the product so much and knew that other local customers had used the product and perhaps the product could have success on a statewide or even a national scale. Since its onset, John and Michael had run their business on virtually a manual basis. Suppliers were mostly local with sourcing decisions based on the supplier’s proximity. Forecasting and ordering from suppliers were completed through phone calls and faxes with new orders based on manual counts rather than any systematic process. Stone Horse Supply Company often found itself with either excess material or expediting material in from suppliers at the last minute to keep from missing a customer deadline. Likewise, Stone Horse Supply Company was in the same facility it had started in, a smaller facility that had an unusual layout that John and Michael had made minor modifications to through the years to adapt to problems encountered during those years. While John and Michael were excited about the prospect of the company and its product becoming a mainstream product with vastly increased sales, they both knew that they were already struggling to meet current customer demand and that the current methods used to run the company would be insufficient as it entered this next phase. More specifically, John and Michael were concerned about the company’s ability to order and maintain the correct inventories to meet the new sales projections or even if many of its suppliers could meet the higher volumes. John and Michael also were concerned about how they would get the materials to Stone Horse Supply Company because they currently used a single company truck to pick up most of the local materials. Finally, John and Michael were deeply concerned about inventory levels and the cash required maintaining those inventories because they were already experiencing excess cost and issues in this area. Having decided to move forward, John and Michael’s company faced many questions regarding the new sales opportunity. Both John and Michael knew that while the technology they had to offer was superior to any other product of that type currently on the market, they also knew their company needed help in developing a supply chain strategy to ensure that this fantastic new sales opportunity did not overwhelm the company and end in failure. Your task starts with assisting John and Michael with an assessment of their current and desired situations. You will follow with assisting Stone Horse Supply Company in developing a supply chain that will support its future operations while also knowing that now that John and Michael’s product is going mainstream that there is great likelihood that other competitors will follow and that any strategy must address the future competitive landscape of the company.

ECO 203 Principles of Macroeconomics NO PLAGIARISM PLZ Due today- Final Paper

Unemployment and inflation are an economy’s two most important macroeconomic issues. The federal government’s fiscal policy and the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy try to maintain both a low unemployment rate around a natural rate and a low inflation rate around 2%.

In your Final Paper,

  • Evaluate the historical relationship between unemployment and inflation. (hint: You may start from A.W. Phillips’s finding of the relationship between unemployment and inflation.)
  • Distinguish between the short-run and the long-run in a macroeconomic analysis. Why is the relationship between unemployment and inflation different in the short-run and the long-run?
  • Assess the recent 20-year U.S. unemployment and inflation data. Do the current U.S. unemployment and inflation data confirm the short-run Phillips curve?
  • Analyze why the recent 20-year U.S. unemployment and inflation data approves or disproves the short-run Phillips curve.
  • Evaluate whether the Phillips curve can still validly resolve today’s issue of unemployment and inflation and forecast unemployment and inflation. Why or why not?
  • Recommend any policy, method, or opinions for the current U.S. unemployment and inflation as a policy maker for either fiscal policy or monetary policy (or both).
