You are a manager in the HR department at WidgetMaker. It has recently been brought to your attention that many of the workers require more training to accurately perform their jobs.

Using the Argosy University online library resources and the Internet, research the costs and benefits of implementing training programs.

Write a memo to company executives explaining why adequate training is important to the company and how the financial costs can be justified.

Within your memo, address the following:

• Evaluate the costs and benefits to both the company and the employee. How do the benefits justify the costs?
• What factors should the company consider when designing a training program? How should its effectiveness be evaluated?

After your initial posts discuss the following:

• Under which circumstances is training not transferable from company to company?
• From a management perspective, is it ever disadvantageous to hire individuals who have been previously trained at other companies? Why or why not?
• How much can the company culture of one company affect the training required at a different company?

5. Complete the following based on the industry selected:
   1. Locate 5–10 industry publications and or trade journals that are suitable for use in your doctoral research.
      1. All the industry publications or trade journals should have the same industry focus (e.g., aviation, education, marketing, HR management, information systems, healthcare, accounting)
      2. Review a sampling of the articles in the industry publications or trade journals to obtain a sense of current and relevant topics and trending data.
   2. Locate 3–5 blog sites producing blog content that is supportive of the selected industry and or your ADP research topic areas.
      1. Use the downloaded blog list and or blog sites identified elsewhere.
      2. Review a sampling of the blogs from the listed cites for content, format, tone, and style in anticipation of writing an industry blog for this assignment.
      3. Identify the focus of your industry blog, preferably one that is suitable for your ADP research.
      4. Locate supporting resources for added content, as applicable.

6. Develop and or revise an author tagline for use in your written publications.

Introduction – Provide a brief 1–2 paragraph introduction in the paper to identify (1) the purpose of blogs, (2) the industry selected for the blog writing (include name and NAICS Code), (3) the general focus of the ADP research interest, (4) specific topic addressed in the blog, and other details as appropriate.
   2. Industry Trade Journals – List your selection of 5–10 industry trade journals by name along with the URL addresses for the publications.

   4. Blog – Write the blog in keeping with the general rules for blogging content and formatting as identified in How to Write a Successful Blog, and any specified rules for guest bloggers found on the selected blog site.

      2. Format the blog similar to the examples found in your selected blog websites; best practices for blogging are always encouraged.
      3. Research how to write catchy headlines and blog titles that capture readers’ attention and draft a working title.

This is based on the paper you started to write/you’re writing and in either powerpoint or word to share on Zoom, whichever is easier for you and helps you – but the point is to talk about your work for 5 min:

You will be producing a final paper on a topic of your choice from the field of developmental psychology, around 6-8 pages (double-spaced). In line with our readings and discussions, it can also expand to be about family or social service issues. Please when you pick your topic during the term, let me know which week, chapter, readings, subfield that it is related to and run your idea with me (by the end of March) so that we will decide together whether it is feasible.

Literature review with an argument: 

If you choose this option, you can get some ideas from our discussion questions to conduct your literature review. You are free to ask ‘how’ questions (i.e. how does attachment develop in infants?) as well as questions looking at association between variables (i.e. is there a relationship between authoritarian parenting and self-esteem (or academic achievement etc…) in middle childhood?). Simply anything that has interested you in the course based on the lectures or discussions. You can also draw on our discussion questions we pose weekly. Please try to use around 8 research articles that look at the question you’re interested in and is looking at the definitions and variables you draw on. You can also use some of the articles we read during discussions, or draw from the references included in our textbook.

Provide information on ages of children and describe what you see in terms of play environment, types of play and social interactions (and what you see relevant that you would like to mention) and what is significant in your opinion about it. Make sure to refer to some theories that explain play and play behavior that we covered in the class, by also finding additional resources to cover that.  

Case study of a children’s organization or a community organization working for children or families (in your neighborhood, home country, or if it’s a large international organization, choose their particular program or operation):

Describe the organization, brief history, its vision and mission, what they’re doing, how they evolved, who they are providing services for: as you do that you can do a review of news article or a historical review of policy documents on the organization.  

Movie/series or book critique: Make sure to both summarize and then go on critiquing the book and the movie. You can also use one of the options below, or choose your own book or movie that centers on a child’s perspective, childhood, play, adolescent, aging, or family issue/setting/relationships.

Biography of a child psychologist/researcher/child or play advocate (you can use a mixture of library website research + news articles + opensource textbooks or a movie)
