Locus of Control

https://www.mccc.edu/~jenningh/Courses/documents/Rotter-locusofcontrolhandout.pdf

Locus of control is a concept that refers to how strongly a person believes that they have control over the situations and experiences that impact their lives. People with external locus of control typically think that their success or failures are the result from external factors beyond their control (circumstances, fate, luck, etc.). People with an internal locus of control typically think that their success or failure is a result of their hard work and effort.

Before taking the Locus of Control (LOC) Measure located on page 456 of your textbook, based on what you know about external and internal locus of control, how do you think you will score?

Once you have reflected on how you think you will score on the measure, complete it. LOC scores range from 0 – 13. A high score indicates an external locus of control, while a low score indicates an internal locus of control. Discuss what can be learned from the Locus of Control (LOC) Measure and discuss the following questions:

  • What are your results from the LOC measure? What does your score indicate in regards to external and internal locus of control?
  • Do you think the results are accurate or inaccurate?
  • What are the implications of the LOC score on your personality?
  • How can LOC affect your willingness to change behaviors?
  • How does LOC affect the ability to succeed in school and in your career?

Corporate Social Responsibility

III. Fact Pattern: Corporate Social Responsibility Essay Question
The success of Apple Inc.’s products like the iPhone and the iPad made the company rely on manu-facturers in Asia to produce its products at a lower cost. These manufacturers were not/are not em-ployees of Apple. Apple carries no legal liability for the work of these manufacturers. Since these manufacturers were not focused on checking the origins of the minerals they used, Ap-ple faced accusations by activists that it knowingly endorsed using conflict minerals in its products. https://essayharbour.info/2021/05/25/a%e2%80%8c%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8c%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8c%e2%80%8c%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8c%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8c%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8dn-abstract-is-neede/

These conflict minerals led to the abuse of human rights in the volatile parts of the world. Extrac-tion, distribution and the sale of conflict minerals such as tin, tungsten, and tantalum extracted from illegal mines in the Democratic Republic of Congo (Congo) and neighboring nationals funded armed militia who fought against the government and violated the human rights of people living in the con-flict areas.

Apple has implemented various programs to overcome the challenge of conflict minerals since it started facing pressure from some activist groups in 2010. Despite all the efforts made by Apple, the company faces an uphill challenge. The CEO must make an important decision about if/how to move forward with his operations in Asia. https://essaypandit.com/case-study-mr-m-it-is-necessary-for-an-rn-bsn-prepared-nurse-to-demonstrate/ The Issue: Should Apple continue to use the same manufacturers in Asia? Role Play: Assume that you are the CEO of Apple and responsible for picking which one of three options as a course of action moving forward:

Please just answer 1a and 1b while answering the questions below for both questions. That means you will answer these questions below for both 1(a) and 1(b). 1) Will you continue using the same manufacturers in Asia? 2) Will you use other manufacturers?

3) Will you withdraw from the region? Question 1(a): Use the stakeholder model of Corporate Social Responsibility to make your deci-sion. Explain the important points in your analysis that have helped you decide whether to keep us-ing the same manufacturers, switch to other manufacturers in the region, or withdrawing completely from the region.

Questions 1(b): In a separate answer use the economic model to make your decision. Explain the important points in your analysis that have helped you decide whether to keep using the same man-ufacturers, switch to other manufacturers in the region, or withdrawing completely from the region. Assume the following facts: · Apple has not broken any international or national laws. https://theeliteessaywriters.com/2021/05/26/readchapters-4-and-29-in-yoder-wise-p-s-2018-leading-and-managing-in-nurs/

· Even if the manufacturing companies that Apple outsources its work to have directly or in-directly break local or International laws, Apple is not legally liable for the actions of their manufactures. · If Apple decides to use other manufacturers in the region, its profits will be reduced by 75%. The company would still generate a profit, but it would be much less than under its original arrangement.

Week 7 6200 discussion 1 and 2 : Social Development of Adolescents

SOCW 6200: Human Behavior and the Social Environment I

Discussion 1: Moral Development Theory and Bullying

Bullying is not a new phenomenon, but social media and communication technologies have introduced a breadth and depth to which public shaming, targeted taunting, and bullying have manifested. For this Discussion, consider how bullying has changed and how it has remained the same in light of modern technology.

Post an explanation of one moral development theory and its connection to the act of bullying. Be sure to frame your explanation within the context of cyber and other bullying that persists in social media and communication technologies used by adolescents. Also explain how bullying has changed and how it has remained the same in light of modern technology. Please use the Learning Resources to support your answer.

Discussion 2: Bullying: Cycle of Events

Bearing witness to trauma has its own set of consequences. Watching repeated episodes of bullying can evoke strong emotional and behavioral responses from an adolescent. During the impressionable stage of social development in adolescents, these experiences can contribute to a change in perception about the ways people should and do treat each other. Furthermore, ongoing exposure to this behavior can jeopardize an adolescent’s healthy social development. For this Discussion, consider how the act of bullying experienced by one adolescent may change the experience of another who witnesses it.

Post a scenario that illustrates how bullying experienced by one adolescent may change the experience of another who witnesses it. Then address the availability of any social work intervention, skill, or practice that might change this cycle of events. Please use the Learning Resources to support your answer.

Chapter 8

Clayton Sharrard/Photo Edit 362 Understanding Human Behavior and the Social Environment

of Laura’s, She detests going to church. Her parents have often called her “stupid” and negatively compared her to her brother, who they believe can do no wrong. This dispar-agement of Laura has in many ways become a self-fulfilling prophecy. She repeated a grade in elementary school, seldom studied, and often received failing grades. In school, she saw herself as a failure and hung out with other students who viewed themselves as failures. In high school, she frequently skipped school and partied. Eight weeks before graduation, she was expelled for skipping too much school. Her parents and the school system had tried numerous times to motivate Laura to apply herself in school; she even had a number of individual sessions with three different social workers and a psychiatrist. Laura’s parents are especially irate when she leaves home for three or four days at a

time and parties in an abandoned house in the inner city of Milwaukee. She has lied to her parents about her sexual activities, when the truth is she has a variety of partners. For-tunately, she is taking birth control pills; however, she does not always use a condom to protect herself from sexually transmitted diseases. Some of Laura’s male friends are putting pressure on her to become a prostitute so that there will be more money to buy drugs and party. Laura and her friends have had several encounters with the police for shoplifting, running away from home, drinking liquor under age, kicking police officers while being arrested, and driving in high-speed auto chases after radar detected they were speeding. Laura is asking herself a number of questions: Should she prostitute herself? Or should she stop associating with her friends and try to make peace with her parents by getting a high school education and a better-paying job? Whenever she has tried to achieve the middle-class goals of her parents, they have criticized her as being a failure. She won-ders what her chances are of heading in a better direction this time. The one thing she has found enjoyable in life is partying with her friends, but she realizes her friends are getting her in trouble with the police. She is worried that cutting ties with her friends will result in living a life in which she will be continually rejected and put down by others. She wants a better-paying job but realizes her chances are not good, especially because she hasn’t completed high school. She wants a one-to-one relationship with a caring male, but because she has a low self-concept, the only thing she feels that males will find attrac-tive about her is sexual intercourse. This is one reason she has had multiple sex partners. She is increasingly concerned that being so sexually active is not right and may result in her acquiring a sexually transmitted disease (such as AIDS). What should she do about all of these concerns? She is deeply perplexed and confused.

Perspective

This chapter will focus primarily on the social changes and some social problems encoun-tered by adolescents. The social growth from puberty to age 19 involves a number of passages: from being dependent on parents to becoming more independent, from adjust-ing to puberty to establishing a sexual identity, from beginning to date to serious dating and perhaps marrying, from being a child with parents to sometimes parenting children, from earning money from babysitting to having a full-time job or attending college, from buying baseball gloves and playing ball to buying a car, and from drinking soda to drinking beer and hard liquor and experimenting with drugs. The pressures and stresses of this time period produce many casualties who suffer from a variety of problems.

Signature Assignment: International Trade Summary

Assignment Content

  1. Promoting international trade is not a zero-sum game. It is a win-win proposition; both parties gain from trade.

    Consider the following:

    • Tariffs are paid by the citizens of the country imposing tariffs, not by the citizens of the country producing the products upon which the tariffs are levied.
    • The term “trade deficits” is a misnomer. Every country’s trade is always in balance.
    • Trade deficits do not mean the US no longer produces anything to export. The US is the world’s second largest manufacturer and the world’s second largest exporter of manufactured goods.
    • Trade deficits reflect a strong economy. Trade deficits rise during economic expansions and fall during economic contractions. Unemployment falls as trade deficits rise and rises as trade deficits fall.
    • Imports and exports are complements, not competitors. Both are necessary and both contribute to economic growth.
    • Roughly one-third of all US imports and exports is trade between US multinational companies and their overseas subsidiaries.
    • Foreign-owned companies operating in the US number in the thousands and provide directly or indirectly jobs for more than 13 million US workers (roughly, 10% of the US workforce).
    • US trade deficit in goods in 2018 (as a % of GDP) was the same as it was 5, 10 and 15 years earlier.
    • The rise in US goods trade deficit with China has not increased the US total goods trade deficit. It has been offset by reduced goods imports from other trading partners.
    • There is a strong correlation between the rise in world trade and:
    • The rise in world GDP
    • The dramatic fall in the world’s extreme poverty rate
    • The rise in world life expectancy
    • For every US manufacturing job lost to trade between 2000 and 2010, seven US jobs were lost to domestic productivity improvements. Those seven jobs cannot be brought back from overseas because they never left the US.
    • Write a 700- to 1,050-word evaluation of credible economists’ unbiased opinions on the benefits, costs, and results of current US trade and tariff policies. Complete the following in your evaluation:
    • Evaluate how US trade policy changes in the last 2 years affect global trade activities by multinational corporations.
    • Discuss credible economists’ opinions on the long-term effects of trade and tariff policies changes in the last 2 years.
    • Explain the effect of recent changes to trade and tariff policies have had on your employer, you, or someone you know.
    • Cite at least 2 academically credible sources.

Format your assignment according to APA guidelines.

Report 2

Our last week have explored early film. For this report, I would like you to construct a Nickelodeon Show. The standard nickelodeon program ran 45 minutes to an hour, but yours can run as little as 20 minutes total. You can do an historically accurate show, or update it for today’s audiences. Please make sure you understand what a Nickelodeon show is by reading your textbook and examining the appropriate module page.

A typical show might look something like: slapstick comedy (6-7 minutes), illustrated song (3 minutes), drama-short film (12-14 minutes), illustrated song (3 minutes), and light comedy (6-7 minutes). Again, yours can be a little shorter – and you can modify the format to fit your creative goals – updating the content for today, or relying on historical material from the past.

If you decide to “update,” your show must include a short film as its centerpiece! You can find many short films on YouTube. To surround that film, you could incorporate any kinds of music and media via YouTube:

  • Clips of your Favorite Comedian (A short stand-up skit; short skit from SNL, Dave Chapelle Show, Comedy Central Shows, etc.)
  • Live music performances or clips from concerts of any kind
  • Additional short films
  • Music videos (update on the “illustrated song”!)

For an historically accurate show, you can find examples of illustrated songs can be found at the following links:

You can then choose three one-reelers from around 1910, trying for a variety of genres. You can reduce the runtime of your show by selecting shorter films. You can find a variety of short, early films here:

Assessment 2: 6030 PICOT

  • Overview:
  • Develop a 5–9-page problem statement that presents information related to the problem-intervention-comparison-outcome-time (PICOT) approach to nursing research.

Note: Each assessment in this course builds on the work you completed in the previous assessment. Therefore, you must complete the assessments in this course in the order in which they are presented.

  • For the first section of your final capstone project you will develop a proposal for an intervention plan to fulfill a need within a specific population. This assessment is meant to capture your initial thoughts about the need and impacting factors to help focus your in-depth analysis later on in the course.
First you will brainstorm and crystallize some of your ideas for this assessment, specifically ideas around needs, a target population, and some initial support from the literature and other sources of evidence. The problem statement is an important part of your capstone project as it will help illustrate the importance of your project, as well as help to clarify your project’s scope.
By successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and assessment criteria:

    • Competency 1: Lead organizational change to improve the experience of care, population health, and professional work life while decreasing cost of care.
      • Explain an overview of one or more interventions that would help drive quality improvement related to an identified need within a target population and setting.
    • Competency 2: Evaluate the best available evidence for use in clinical and organizational decision making.
      • Analyze a health promotion, quality improvement, prevention, education, or management need.
      • Analyze current evidence to validate an identified need and its appropriateness within the target population and setting.
    • Competency 3: Apply quality improvement methods to impact patient, population, and systems outcomes.
      • Describe a quality improvement method that could impact a patient, population, or systems outcome.
    • Competency 4: Design patient- and population-centered care to improve health outcomes.
      • Propose a rough time frame for the development and implementation of an intervention to address an identified need.
    • Competency 5: Integrate interprofessional care to improve safety and quality and to decrease cost of care.
      • Analyze potential interprofessional alternatives to an initial intervention with regard to their possibilities to meet the needs of the project, population, and setting.
    • Competency 6: Evaluate the ability of existing and emerging information, communication, and health care technologies to improve safety and quality and to decrease cost.
      • Evaluate and synthesize resources from diverse sources illustrating existing health policy, health care technologies, or other communications that could impact the approach taken to address an identified need.
    • Competency 7: Defend health policy that improves the experience of care, population health, and professional work life while decreasing cost of care.
      • Define an outcome that identifies the purpose and intended accomplishments of an intervention for a health promotion, quality improvement, prevention, education, or management need.
    • Note: You will also be assessed on two additional criteria unaligned to a course competency:
    • Communicate problem statement and literature review in a way that helps the audience to understand the importance and validity of a proposed project.
    • Demonstrate completion of hours toward the practicum experience.
    • See the scoring guide for specific grading criteria related to these additional requirements.
      Competency Map
  • Assessment Instructions
  • Instructions
Note: The assessments in this course are sequenced in such a way as to help you build specific skills that you will use throughout your program. Complete the assessments in the order in which they are presented.
Your problem statement will focus on presenting information related to the problem-intervention-comparison-outcome-time (PICOT) approach to nursing research. You will also present a brief literature review that supports the need you identified in your problem statement and the appropriateness of your broad intervention approach. Provide enough detail so that the faculty member assessing your problem statement will be able to provide substantive feedback that you will be able to incorporate into the other project components in this course, as well as into the final draft of your project.
At minimum, be sure to address the bullet points below, as they correspond to the grading criteria. You may also want to read the scoring guide and the Guiding Questions: Problem Statement (PICOT) document (linked in the Resources) to better understand how each criterion will be assessed.
Reminder: these instructions are an outline. Your heading for this this section should be titled Problem Statement and not Part 1: Problem Statement.
Your Problem Statement (PICOT) should be structured as follows:
PART 1: PROBLEM STATEMENT (2–3 PAGES)
    Need Statement (1 paragraph).

    • Analyze a health promotion, quality improvement, prevention, education or management need.
    • Population and Setting (1–2 paragraphs).
    • Describe a target population and setting in which an identified need will be addressed.
    • Intervention Overview (1–2 paragraphs).
    • Explain an overview of one or more interventions that would help address an identified need within a target population and setting.
    • Comparison of Approaches (1–2 paragraphs).
    • Analyze potential interprofessional alternatives to an initial intervention with regard to their possibilities to meet the needs of the project, population, and setting.
    • Initial Outcome Draft (1 paragraph).
    • Define an outcome that identifies the purpose and intended accomplishments of an intervention for a health promotion, quality improvement, prevention, education, or management need.
    • Time Estimate (1 paragraph).
    • Propose a rough time frame for the development and implementation of an intervention to address and identified need.
    • PART 2: LITERATURE REVIEW (10–15 RESOURCES, 3–6 PAGES)
    • Analyze current evidence to validate an identified need and its appropriateness within the target population and setting.
    • Evaluate and synthesize resource from diverse sources illustrating existing health policy that could impact the approach taken to address an identified need.
    • ADDRESS GENERALLY THROUGHOUT
    • Communicate problem statement and literature review in way that helps the audience understand the importance and validity of a proposed project.

The Value of Fair Treatment in the Workplace AD

The Value of Fair Treatment in the Workplace

You have been hired as a management consultant by a large company to examine the company’s business decisions regarding employee protections. The applicable laws are federal anti-discrimination laws, federal health and safety laws, and employer firing practices related to the employment-at-will (EAW) doctrine.

In response to the three questions below, write a 4–6 page paper in which you do the following:

  1. Analyze, identify, and explain recent legislation, within the last 10 years, that helps to protect employees from discrimination in the workplace. Provide at least two federal legislative protections. Provide some insight when the federal legislation conflicts with the state.
  2. Explain the EAW doctrine and all exceptions to the doctrine. Look at the scenarios below and determine whether the decision to fire the employee is a smart one. Identify why or why not, and determine all the possible exceptions per the EAW doctrine that are, might be, or could be applicable if the employee sues for wrongful termination.
    • Brenda, a manager, started a blog on the company website for employee grievances. She noticed that a worker was protesting that no Asian American employees had gotten a raise in two years at the company. The worker also criticized how much the CEO made and how the CEO was “out of touch.” Brenda reprimanded the worker. The next day, the worker talked to fellow co-workers about forming a union. Brenda subsequently fired the worker.
    • Jason, a department supervisor, requests approval to fire his secretary, Alice. Alice, a devout Christian, has been putting Right-to-Life flyers in the employee breakroom. Alice is also taking time out to pray each day during the busiest time of the morning.
    • Brian, the head of the accounting department, refused to sign Lori’s leave request for jury duty. Lori is a tax attorney in his department. Brian wants to fire Lori for being absent without permission during their busiest time—tax season.
  • Peter has worked for the company for one year. He has a rare form of liver disease and works with chemicals that make his condition worse. Peter does not want to stop working, but his boss is not happy with his performance and wants to let him go.
  1. Determine the federal law regarding undocumented workers and whether they are eligible for state workers’ compensation in the United States. Advocate for or against this practice and substantiate your response with research to support your position.

Use the Strayer Library to conduct your research. Include at least three quality references. The textbook for this class is a required source for this assignment.Note: Wikipedia and similar websites do not count as quality references.
