My name is Janelle Washington and I am thrilled to begin this course. I live in Southern California with my fiancé and our (thinks he’s human) Poodle. We are in the process of moving back to Arizona next week, so before the course ends we will have a new place to call home. In my free time I enjoy spending time with family and friends trying new recipes and local restaurants. With the effects of the pandemic, I found myself trying DIY recipes at home more so than going out anymore. But I am eager to begin to explore again. My career and experience dives deep into financial institutions where I can combined my financial literacy with my passion for marketing. I enjoy going out and meeting prospective clients and creating advertisements and branch campaigns for products and services. My creativity and interest lead me to join (what was) Ashford University and I am proud to say I am enjoying my major in Public Relations and Marketing. As I continue to complete my degree, I continue to grow both professionally, personally, and educationally.

          I have always enjoy school and learning experiences. I truly believe that there is one teacher within your educational journey that has the largest impact on you. For me, that was my art teacher in High School; someone I am lucky to still have contact with today. He exposed me to my creative side and made me change my perception of art. I learned that art is not always one sided, it tells a story and is often a great way to express emotions and intended messages. As a visual learning, I enjoy interpreting art and studying the variation of techniques and genres. I’ve had my fair share of oil paintings in the past. I have found that oil painting was quite enjoyable and learning how to blend and take criticism taught me patience and a true understanding for art. The most recent art museum I visited was the National Geographic Art Display in Las Vegas, NV. I highly recommend viewing these captivating images of nature. You can find the location inside of Caesar’s Palace!

         My initial reaction to the Bruegel’s The Fall of the Rebel Angels image was that there was quite a lot going on. That made me uncomfortable because I generally understand art in a sense. But this painting challenged me to continue to look deeper into the image. I began to skim over the image and noticed something new every time I glanced at it. I think there is some true talent reflecting in the color of color, light, and shadows. It makes the elements realistic even though they appear to be a little out of the ordinary from real life. I am hoping this course can give me the necessary tools and knowledge needed to better understand paintings like this and truly appreciate the message and techniques used.

Four-year-old Taylor and her family lived in Germany for the past 2 years while her father served in the military. Taylor attended a Kindertagesstätte, a German nursery school, in her neighborhood, and always looked forward to seeing and playing with her friends each day.
    When Taylor’s family moved back to the United States they immediately enrolled her in an early education program. Despite the fact that she has now attended the program regularly for almost 2 months, Taylor still requires considerable coaxing to participate in any classroom activities. She often sits alone and watches the other children but seldom joins in their play. You understand that it takes time for children to adjust to a new environment, and have taken additional steps to support her social-emotional development during this transitional period. However, you are concerned about the slow progress that Taylor is making despite your efforts. Steps:
First, decide which Winter module you would like to focus on as the broader topic; Modules 4, 5, and 6 are from the Winter term. Second, focus on the specific topics in the Module selected. Decide which five readings you would like to focus on from the Module. Remember, the readings do not have to be from the same lecture week but do have to be from the same Module. Third, to successfully synthesize the five sources, begin by grouping sources by topic and looking for connections across the readings. For example, look for overlapping ideas, where sources agree with each other, and divergences. Any unanswered questions or identifiable limitations of the readings? Fourth, begin to make an argument based on the readings and what they tell us about the broader topic (the Module’s focus is the broader topic). Hierarchy- a system or organization in which people or groups are ranked one above the other according to status or authority.

In my opinion, I believe hierarchy holds the biggest challenge in the healthcare systems when compared to self organization and resilience. Challenges are a part of every system. They come and go. We as humans adapt to change in the ways that we were taught either biologically or fundamentally. Effective leadership is the key to success in every business, however it can make or break a company. I believe an effective leader will be inspire, provide direction, and possess the skills to properly mentor their staff. When the leader builds their team, common goals are achieved. This is good. When their is bad leadership, it trickles down to most members of the team. It puts a strain on meeting goals and normally leaves them failing or falling behind what the company set standards are. Most times when one team member has a negative approach on things, it rubs off on others and the team divides. This will effect the entire system and all departments. Once the company begins to have that negative factor, it can snowball and then eventually will take many aspects to dig them selves out of the hole. It is important for companies to support their leaders. This includes training, rewarding, and following up on certain issues. When a leader feels they have these available to them then normally the team will recover regardless of changes. A great team will succeed.
