Assignment: Human Trafficking

Group therapy is one of the most successful interventions for adolescents. This is because of the nature of this stage of development and the need to belong to a group. Hearing the stories of other teens and knowing that their experiences and feelings are similar is very therapeutic. Another characteristic of the adolescent stage is a short attention span, so the clinical social worker should tailor exercises that initiate and sustain discussion for adolescents.

For this Assignment, watch the “Bradley” video.

In a 2- to 4-page paper, identify two opening exercises that you might recommend for a group of adolescent girls who were victims of human trafficking.

  • Describe the exercises in detail so that another social worker would be able to implement them.
  • Explain ways these exercises might be effective in creating a comfortable environment for these teenage girls.
  • Support your rationale with the literature. For example, what does the literature say about teenage girls who have been arrested for prostitution/human trafficking and who openly discuss their experiences?
  • How do these exercises promote group cohesion and encourage these teens to talk openly?

Due by 6pm Tonight

Purpose of Assignment: The purpose of this assignment is to review two separate cultures of unfamiliarity and to hypothesize how best to become more familiar working with clients of these cultural backgrounds by exhibiting an understanding of inclusivity.

Instructions: Culture and cultural identity are crucially important concepts in Human Services practice. As Human Services Professionals we may or may not be highly knowledgeable of all the cultures being served within our practice. However, we must approach culturally-different people with openness, respect, and a willingness to learn. Self-awareness, which involves looking within the self, is one of the most important components in the knowledge base of culturally-competent practice. Cultural variation relates to our ability to understand the differences in social behaviors that different cultures exhibit—for example, gender roles and the social hierarchy’s existent within some cultures.

For the Module 02 written assignment, you are going to look at cultures in which you have limited familiarity with and/or are uncomfortable with. You will then pretend that you are a Human Services Professional working with two different clients that identify with two separate cultures you know little about.

Directions: In a 2 full page double-spaced paper, address the following:

  • What two cultures have you chosen and why?
  • What cultural dynamics (or cultural features) are you interested in learning more about? What specific reason was this unfamiliarity and/or discomfort and what is the potential disadvantage of not learning and understanding more about these cultures as a Human Services Professional?
  • If you were the Human Services Professional working with two different clients from these two cultures that you have identified, how would you (a) work towards being more comfortable with these clients and (b) implement a professional plan towards learning more about both cultures so that your practice promotes inclusivity?

APA Requirement: Please ensure that you meet the page length requirement and that your paper is double-spaced throughout. Also, please ensure that you have cited all facts throughout your work with parenthetical in-text citations and that you have a Reference Page at the end of your work.

Research paper – organizational behaviour

his is a graduate course and students will be expected to research and write papers summarizing in their own words what they have found on current topics from the weekly readings. Research is a theoretical review of relevant literature and application of findings in the literature to a topic related to a specific industry, field, or business problem.

The research must be conducted using peer-reviewed trade or academic journals. While Blogs, Wikipedia, encyclopedias, course textbooks, popular magazines, newspaper articles, online websites, etc. are helpful for providing background information, these resources are NOT suitable resources for this research assignment.

  1. Choose a research topic from the chapter readings or from the list provided by your professor.
  2. Research/find a minimum at least four (4), preferably five (5) or more, different peer-reviewed articles on your topic from the University of the Cumberlands Library online business database. The article(s) must be relevant and from a peer-reviewed source. While you may use relevant articles from any time frame, current/published within the last five (5) years are preferred. Using literature that is irrelevant or unrelated to the chosen topic will result in a point reduction.
  3. Write a four (4) to five (5) page double spaced paper in APA format discussing the findings on your specific topic in your own words. Note – paper length does not include cover page, abstract, or references page(s).

Discussion: Multiple Regression

THIS REQUIRES SPSSPlease follow the attachment closely!!!!!

Please use Afrobarometer dataset!!!!

This Discussion assists in solidifying your understanding of statistical testing by engaging in some data analysis. This week you will work with a real, secondary dataset to construct a research question, estimate a multiple regression model, and interpret the results.

Whether in a scholarly or practitioner setting, good research and data analysis should have the benefit of peer feedback. For this Discussion, you will post your response to the hypothesis test, along with the results. Be sure and remember that the goal is to obtain constructive feedback to improve the research and its interpretation, so please view this as an opportunity to learn from one another. To prepare for this Discussion:

  • Review this week’s Learning Resources and media program related to multiple regression.
  • Create a research question using the Afrobarometer Dataset or the HS Long Survey Dataset, that can be answered by multiple regression.

By Day 3

Use SPSS to answer the research question. Post your response to the following:

  1. If you are using the Afrobarometer Dataset, report the mean of Q1 (Age). If you are using the HS Long Survey Dataset, report the mean of X1SES.
  2. What is your research question?
  3. What is the null hypothesis for your question?
  4. What research design would align with this question?
  5. What dependent variable was used and how is it measured?
  6. What independent variables are used and how are they measured? What is the justification for including these predictor variables?
  7. If you found significance, what is the strength of the effect?
  8. Explain your results for a lay audience, explain what the answer to your research question.

Be sure to support your Main Post and Response Post with reference to the week’s Learning Resources and other scholarly evidence in APA Style.

Learning to eat healthy

To develop and evaluate a plan that promotes children’s healthy lifestyle behaviors.

You are a recently hired teacher in a new early childhood center that serves a diverse population. During the first month on the job, you observe that a number of the children are overweight. You decide to initiate a program that focuses on healthy eating and physical activity with your class of 5-year-olds. You prepare a chart on which you record each of the children’s height and weight. In order to be more informed about their current food preferences, you create a game by posting pictures of nutritious and unhealthy foods and snack items on a wall. You ask all the children in your class to tape a “smiley face” on two of their favorite foods. The following day you extend the game, and your data collection, by asking each child to name five healthy foods. On the third day, you have the children name their favorite indoor and outdoor activity. Each day you record the children’s responses along with their height and weight information and then analyze the data.

Focus assignment

1. Describe the typical patterns that you would expect to find in the children’s food choices. Use this information to prepare a list of 20 nutritious food items that you would introduce during the week’s lessons to promote healthy eating. Next, develop a two-column list of developmentally appropriate physical activities for preschool-age children: list 10 high-energy, aerobic activities in one column, and 10 moderate intensity activities in the other column.
2. Be sure to read the REFLECTION section below to guide your thinking. Write your reflection response after you have completed your plan.

Self-evaluation

1. For each item in your lesson plan:
a. Explain how this item addresses the issues in the scenario.

2. Describe and justify how your plan would improve teaching and learning in the scenario.

Total Rewards Powerpoint

Throughout the previous weeks, we identified and discussed the elements of a Total Rewards Package. In an effort to lay the ground for the upcoming weeks, exploring some of these elements in further detail, you will create a PowerPoint presentation that is reflective of the following:

1)  Type of position you are seeking if you were to leave your current position. — i am currently a highvolume sales recruiter at rocket mortgage and would want a leadership role within recruiting

2)  The location (if it matters where the job is located), compensation, and benefits you are wanting. You will want to consider the differences in cost of living when evaluating the compensation and benefits. -i would like to work remote

3)  Using your current organization, identify and discuss your current total rewards package. — attached an overview of my current benefits

3) Select an organization or entity you are interested in working for, identifying and discussing the total rewards package offered.  Look at both direct and indirect compensation.  — i would be interested in working for an organization like Microsoft or Google

(3) Compare the two packages, evaluating the pros and cons of each organization’s total rewards package and opportunity

(4) In closing, make the determination as to which organization you would choose and why.

The purpose of the assignment is that often times, when people are looking for a new job; they are often enticed by the direct compensation, i.e. the wages, not really giving any thought to the benefits before making their decisions. In addition, it is common for employees to be unaware of the benefits that are available to them as well as to access them. Besides becoming familiar with the benefits offered to employees by yours and other organizations, you be able to evaluate the total compensation being offered by organizations for the purpose of job offers and benchmarking to help your organization remain competitive.

A few things to remember:

  • You should be able to address the topic effectively using 12-15 slides and USE YOUR NOTE PAGES.
  • Do not forget to use bullet points or short sentences on your slides and expand on your note pages, or you can add audio.  Think of this as where your essay would go. Often times, when someone cannot attend a presentation, they rely on the note pages to expand on the information on the slides.
  • Graphics should be complementary to the narrative and not overwhelming or distracting from the content.

Creating a Visually-Friendly Presentation

When you hear the number 285 million people – that is no small number. What this number represents is the number of people who are visually impaired in this world, some are corrected but others have left their vision uncorrected. If someone is not wearing corrective lenses does not mean they are not experiencing challenges with their eyesight. All of us can name at least one person who does not want to wear corrective lenses or needs to.

Some of the common visual impairments include low vision, color blindness, and dyslexia. Objects may be out of focus. For others colors may skew what they viewing, and inhibit them from distinguishing letters, colors, and objectives. Some of the colors that are difficult for some individuals to distinguish are red, green, yellow, and blue.

There are a few things you can do to make your design visually-friendly:

  1. Choose a legible font. This include Sans Serif, Helvetica, Arial, and Verdana
  2. Control brightness and contrast. As many of you have already heard me say – light background and use a dark text.
  3. Limit animations and effect. Do not use spinning or wavy slide transitions.
  4. Stay away from dark backgrounds and slide designs.

Week 4 Discussion 1 Response 2

FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT YOU WILL HAVE TO RESPOND TO THE RESPONSE POSTED BELOW. THE RESPONSE HAS TO BE 100 WORDS.

Calculate the current ratio and quick ratio for the latest two years, obtain the industry average ratios from IBISWorld, and analyze the results.

The current ratio, also called the working capital ratio, measures current assets of current liabilities. POOLCORP’s current ratio was 2.49 in 2019 and 2.99 in 2018 (POOL | Pool Corp. Financial Statements – WSJ. , 2020). When compared to the industry averages of 1.7 in 2019 and 2018, POOLCORP is beating the industry average. The quick ratio, also called the acid test ratio, measures short term liquidity of a company. POOLCORP’s quick ratio was .69 in 2019 and .79 in 2018. The quick ratio industry average of pool construction in the US was 1.7 for 2019 and 2018 (Roth, 2020). The quick ratio was 1.4 for 2019 and 2018. POOLCORP is below the industry average in the quick ratio. I am not worried about POOLCORP being below the industry average because swimming pool construction is just on aspect of POOLCORP’s business model. There are many other factors to consider when looking at POOLCORP.

Discuss what each of these ratios tells you about the company’s current financial condition, and how they compare to the industry averages. Identify the major causes of any changes in these ratios and discuss your assessment of the company based on these changes. Review the balance sheet and the notes to the most recent financial statements and identify any contingent liabilities.

POOLCORP recorded $1,117 (in thousands) in 2018 and $703 (in thousands) in 2019(POOLCORP Investor Relations, 2020). The decrease in contingent consideration liabilities is a healthy sign for POOLCORP. POOLCORP’s main contingent liabilities come from claims and litigation that is evaluated each quarter. In the 2019 annual report, POOLCORP states that these lawsuits will not have an adverse impact on the overall financial condition of the company. I believe that POOLCORP is handling each contingency well. Therefore, the contingent liabilities does NOT change my overall assessment of the company.

Couple In The Cage (Master & Counter Narratives)

We are now beginning to consider how the performance Couple in the Cage stages the Civilized/Savage binary in order to question, challenge and deconstruct this binary, especially in the ways the binary functions in society to:

1.) reproduce other binary assumptions (human/animal, whiteness/blackness, us/them, mind/body, rationalism/emotion) and

2.) reduce our ability to think critically about the world we live in and the relations of oppression that we perpetuate, sometimes intentionally and sometimes unknowingly, through our assumptions, beliefs and behaviors.

We will now consider the ways Coco Fusco and Guillermo Gomez Pena’s performance “Couple in the Cage” plays with a culturally coded and rehearsed (i.e. embodied and enacted) system of representation that is deeply embedded in Western thought (consider our Traffic Light activity as another example of a system of representation with rules we learn to embody as habitual responses/restored behaviors – pushing on the gas pedal, pressing the car brake, etc.).

source link: https://www.thegreatcoursesdaily.com/native-american-history-changing-narrative/

A compelling question Fusco and Peña’s performance-as-research project asks:

How does the Civilized/Savage binary continue to shape the contemporary Western imagination?

1.) WRITE a 350-400 word reflection, addressing the following questions (doesn’t have to be in any specific order).

PROMPT: How does the performance Couple in the Cage perform the two intertwined master narratives of Manifest Destiny/American Progress and Discovery of the New World?

a.) Explain how the CAGE functions as an embodied and rehearsed system of representation. How does the CAGE represent and play on the primary binary power relation of Civilized/Savage? Give a few examples of specific evidence (restored behaviors or gestures, use of language, props, costumes, set design, etc.) that Fusco and Peña intentionally choose to stage through performance that play into the binary.

c.) How does the CAGE continue to show up in our current social-political landscape of the United States? Give specific examples of the CAGE in contemporary U.S. society–which specific groups within society are impacted? what counter-narratives are available to social groups who experience oppression?

d.) In your opinion, what is the efficacy of “Couple in the Cage”? What does the performance do in the world? Does the performance create change? Why or why not?

You should cite the readings and draw on your responses from assignments (3a) and (3b) of this module.

Give specific and detailed EVIDENCE from the Couple in the Cage performance to clarify your ideas and points!

RE: Discussion – Week 9

Top of Form

Post a description of the process evaluation that you chose and explain why you selected this example.

The process evaluation that I chose was program quality assurance. It is a fairly broad evaluation that focus on the quality and approach of the quality of the program (Dudley, 2014). I selected program quality assurance because of the focus group having the ability to share what is working well with the other agencies and they all would be able to improve with each other’s suggestions and insight. Quality assurance can be referred as quality improvement or quality control (Dudley, 2014).

Describe the stage of program implementation in which the evaluation occurred, the informants, the questions asked, and the results.

The stage of program implementation when the evaluation will occur is during the data collection stage. The informants in this case would be the 10 social workers that are participating in the focus group. The questions asked are: what works well for your agency? What have you tried and how has it helped? The results must have been positive because the facilitator thought that it was a productive focus group and they planned to conduct more focus groups in the future.

Based upon your comparison of the case study and the program evaluation report that you chose, improve upon the information presented in the case study by identifying gaps in information.

In order to improve on the presented case study, I think what they discussed has to be known in order to improve upon it. So, gaps in information would be what is the outcome of the focus group. What was shared and what each social worker thought was improved upon is important to know.

Fill in these gaps as if you were the facilitator of the focus group. Clearly identify the purpose of the process evaluation and the questions asked.

Allow the participants to fill out a survey about what they learned or gained from the focus group or have them participate in an interview afterwards as a way to fill in the gaps of information. It will allow for the questions of what was learned and how will you apply these practices and procedures to your agency going forward. This ties in with the purpose of the process evaluation, which is to improve the quality of the agency.

RE: Discussion – Week 9

COLLAPSE

Top of Form

Post a description of the process evaluation that you chose and explain why you selected this example.

The process evaluation I have chosen is client satisfaction. This allows for the determination of how satisfied the clients feel with interventions being utilized within their treatment or participation in a program. According to Dudley (2009), these studies are extremely important as they reveal the client’s perceptions of the services they are receiving, what they feel is working, and what may be problematic (pg. 175). Understanding what is helpful for the client and where there may be a breakdown in services can help promote continued participation in the program as well as where improvements can be made to better serve the target population.

Describe the stage of program implementation in which the evaluation occurred, the informants, the questions asked, and the results.

The case study evaluation occurred during data analysis to determine and explore the application of a cross-system collaboration and its effect on service delivery outcomes among social service agencies (Plummer, 2014). The informants in this evaluation were ten social workers from various agencies in a large urban county on the West Coast. There were eight questions asked that look at examples of cross-system collaboration and the strengths and barriers observed in using the model. The outcome was considered successful based on the feedback they received being useful. This information allowed for them to make adjustments in upcoming plans.

Based upon your comparison of the case study and the program evaluation report that you chose, improve upon the information presented in the case study by identifying gaps in information.

In order to improve upon this case study, more information would need to be shared. The specific questions asked being one, and the feedback received is the other. I chose client satisfaction as my process evaluation. With these pieces of information being made available then it would allow for further areas of need to be evaluated by clients also using these services in addition to the service providers at these agencies. The study focused on the represented agencies that addressed child welfare, family services, and community mental health issues and not the client’s accessing services within those agencies. Having client perception on the effectiveness of cross-collaboration would be essential, especially for clients receiving support services from multiple agencies.

Fill in these gaps as if you were the facilitator of the focus group. Clearly identify the purpose of the process evaluation and the questions asked.

In the case of clients receiving involuntary services there may be some exceptions to how helpful client satisfaction surveys may be in the above example. According to Dudley (2009), the client’s lack of satisfaction may be related to their involuntary status. Therefore, it would be essential to determine this prior to creating a focus group. Also, in the case example having a follow-up questionnaire for the social workers to share their experience of the group would be helpful so that improvements can be made for future evaluation studies. I would also like to see how effective the changes made post-study were with the implementation and added component to all agency annual plans.
