ENGLISH COMPOSITION SHORT ASSIGNMENT

Week 3 – Written Response

To wrap up this unit on integrating sources, you will now read an essay from your textbook. You will read two pieces:

  • William Faulkner’s (2019) “A Rose for Emily” (p. 851)
  • and Bailey Basinger’s (2019) “Tension, Contradiction, and Ambiguity: Gender Roles in ‘A Rose for Emily'” (p. 838)

While this is not a literature class, literature provides a good opportunity to not only think critically, one of the important goals of this course, but to practice quoting and citing.

Task:

  • First, read Faulkner (2019). A rose for Emily. In R. Bullock & M.D. Goggin (Eds.), The Norton field guide to writings with readings (5th ed., pp. 851-860). W.W. Norton.
    • You may also choose to listen to the text as you follow along by clicking here.
  • Second, read Basinger’s analysis of Faulkner’s famous story.
  • When you finish, answer Question. 3 on p. 844. As you focus on the question, “What other quotations might she have used,” identify at least three quotes from Faulkner’s story. Explain the quote first. Then, explain how and why you would use each one in revising Basinger’s paper.
    • Please follow this method:
      Response to Question 3.
      100+ words

      “New Quote 1”
1-2 sentence explanation of the quote itself
1-2 sentence connection of the quote to Basinger’s argument

      “New Quote 2”
1-2 sentence explanation of the quote itself
1-2 sentence connection of the quote to Basinger’s argument

      “New Quote 3”
1-2 sentence explanation of the quote itself
1-2 sentence connection of the quote to Basinger’s argument

  • Your response should be 200+ words
  • Be sure to quote, cite, and reference Faulkner’s story and Basinger’s analysis.
  • Additional outside sources are optional.

Final Project for Financial Risk Management

Using the provided Excel spreadsheet as template (you can use a different template as well), please plot the profit diagram for each one of your five selected strategies. Recall that to calculate profits you must reduce the option premiums from your overall payoffs (same as we have done in class).

1. Please include a screenshot of the option chains (list of prices) showing the actual option strikes, expiration and premiums (prices) you are selecting for your project.

2. Please include a screenshot showing the stock price at that time and the date when you get this information. This date is the date of “formation” of your strategies.

3. What are the stock prices that result in your maximum gain and maximum loss? What is the maximum profit and maximum loss?

page1image649182084. Plot profit diagram keeping in mind you can only buy/sell options in contracts controlling 100 shares each. Thus, always make this final adjustment by multiplying by 100 as learned in class. Please use a different sheet for each strategy.
*Keep in mind you will be using the real values from real options (you can get the information from any source. For instance:https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/TSLA/options/).

5. A sample spreadsheet is attached for your convenience. It is the same solved during class and uploaded to the Module of Week 10, Chapter 8, under Class Notes and Recordings). Notwithstanding:

  •   Please make sure to carefully follow all steps as learned in class when preparing the profit charts.
  •   You can directly use this Excel spreadsheet for your project. However, please prepare a clean version of these charts removing notes or hints that were added during class.

Portfolio project

The final portfolio project is a three- part activity. You will respond to three separate prompts but prepare your paper as one research paper. Be sure to include at least one source per prompt, in addition to your textbook (which means you’ll have at least 4 scholarly sources cited).

Start your paper with an introductory paragraph.

Prompt 1 “Data Warehouse Architecture” (2-3 pages): Explain the major components of a data warehouse architecture, including the various forms of data transformations needed to prepare data for a data warehouse. Also, describe in your own words current key trends in data warehousing.

Prompt 2 “Big Data” (1-2 pages): Describe your understanding of big data and give an example of how you’ve seen big data used either personally or professionally. In your view, what demands is big data placing on organizations and data management technology?

Prompt 3 “Green Computing” (1-2 pages):  One of our topics in Chapter 13 surrounds IT Green Computing. The need for green computing is becoming more obvious considering the amount of power needed to drive our computers, servers, routers, switches, and data centers. Discuss ways in which organizations can make their data centers “green”. In your discussion, find an example of an organization that has already implemented IT green computing strategies successfully. Discuss that organization and share your link.

Conclude your paper with a detailed conclusion section.

The paper needs to be approximately 5-8 pages long, including both a title page and a references page (for a total of 7-10 pages). Be sure to use proper APA formatting and citations to avoid plagiarism.Your paper should meet the following requirements:

  • Be approximately 5-8 pages in length, not including the required cover page and reference page.
  • Follow APA7 guidelines. Your paper should include an introduction, a body with fully developed content, and a conclusion.
  • Support your answers with the readings from the course, the course textbook, and at least three scholarly journal articles to support your positions, claims, and observations, in addition to your textbook.
  • Be clearly and well-written, concise, and logical, using excellent grammar and style techniques. You are being graded in part on the quality of your writing.

Diagnostic Tests in Adults and Children

When seeking to identify a patient’s health condition, advanced practice nurses can use a diverse selection of diagnostic tests and assessment tools; however, different factors affect the validity and reliability of the results produced by these tests or tools. Nurses must be aware of these factors in order to select the most appropriate test or tool and to accurately interpret the results.

Not only do these diagnostic tests affect adults, body measurements can provide a general picture of whether a child is receiving adequate nutrition or is at risk for health issues. These data, however, are just one aspect to be considered. Lifestyle, family history, and culture-among other factors-are also relevant. That said, gathering and communicating this information can be a delicate process.

In this Discussion, you will consider the validity and reliability of  different assessment tools and diagnostic tests. You will explore issues such  as sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values. You  will also consider examples of children with various weight issues. You will  explore how you could effectively gather information and encourage parents and  caregivers to be proactive about their children’s health and weight.

To prepare:

  • Review this week’s learning resources and consider factors that impact   the validity and reliability of various assessment tools and diagnostic   tests. We will also review examples of pediatric patients and their   families as it relates to BMI.
  • This week you will be assigned one of the following DB by  your instructor.
    1. Select one of the following assessment tools or diagnostic tests to explore for the purposes of this Discussion: Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test
    2. Select one of the examples on  which to focus for this Discussion. What health issues and risks may be  relevant to the child you selected?
      • 5-year-old girl of normal weight with obese parents
  • Search the Walden Library and credible sources for resources explaining the tool or test you selected. What is its purpose, how is it conducted, and what information does it gather?
  • What does the literature  discuss regarding the validity, reliability, and are there any issues with  sensitivity, specificity, predictive values, ethical dilemmas, and  controversies related to the test or tool?
  • Based on the risks you  identified, consider what further information you would need to gain a full  understanding of the child’s health. Think about how you could gather this  information in a sensitive fashion.
  • Consider how you could  encourage parents or caregivers to be proactive toward the child’s health.

Stress and Nursing Practice

Write a 500 word addressing each of the following points/questions. Be sure to completely answer all the questions for each bullet point. Separate each section with a clear heading that allows your professor to know which bullet you are addressing in that section of your work. Support your ideas with at least two (2) sources in your work. Make sure to reference the citations using the APA writing style for the work. The cover page and reference page do not count towards the minimum word amount. Review the rubric criteria for this assignment.

  • Describe the case that defined you as a nurse.
    • What happened, how were you involved?
    • How does this case still affect you and your practice?
    • What steps have you taken to overcome the stress of this event? (Remember to protect patient privacy).
  • Explain the importance of debriefings.
    • If a debriding would happen in your workplace who would be involved, what would be discussed, who would lead the debriefing, where would it take place?

Assignment Expectations:

Length: 500 words

Structure: Include a title page and reference page in APA format.  These do not count towards the minimum word count for this assignment. Your work must include an introduction and a conclusion.

References: Use appropriate APA style in-text citations and references for all resources utilized to answer the questions.  A minimum of two (2) scholarly sources are required for this assignment.

Connection between our culture and the news media

For the initial post, respond to one of the following options, and label the beginning of your post indicating either Option 1 or Option 2:

Option 1: The framers of the Constitution were concerned that everyday citizens would not be able to understand or comprehend the makings of our government. They felt that everyday citizens were uninformed and did not care what was going on in our government. Even today we see where citizens are interested in government affairs seemingly only if our country is in turmoil such as unemployment, recessions, civil unrest, etc. Do you agree with this assessment? Are we uninformed? Do we wait till a crisis happens to voice our opinions?

Option 2: Many experts see the media as biased and more like infotainment. In fact, many people have turned to social networks as an outlet for news instead of CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN and other news stations. Do you see this as an issue? Do you see the news as biased or unbiased? Should there be more restrictions on the news stations?

Be sure to make connections between your ideas and conclusions and the research, concepts, terms, and theory we are discussing this week.

Follow-Up Post Instructions

Respond to at least one peer. Further the dialogue by providing more information and clarification. Minimum of 1 scholarly source which can include your textbook or assigned readings or may be from your additional scholarly research.

Writing Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 posts (1 initial & 1 follow-up)
  • Minimum of 2 sources cited (assigned readings/online lessons and an outside source)
  • APA format for in-text citations and list of references

Can someone do my Week 3 assignment for Business Law 1?

Assignment instruction:

Review the assignment instructions for the Final Paper in Week Five. Submit an outline for your Final Paper that includes the following:

  • Develop an introduction with a thesis statement for the Final Paper.
  • Create an outline of the major headings with a two- to three-sentence description of what you will discuss under each heading.
  • Provide a references page for the sources used in the Final Paper (the Final Paper has a minimum requirement of five scholarly sources).
    • State the complete bibliographic citation for the scholarly source following APA guidelines

The outline must be two to three pages in length (excluding title and reference pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center (Links to an external site.).

Outline is based from this:

You are the manager of Acme Fireworks, a fireworks retailer who sells fireworks, puts on ground display fireworks, and large aerial display fireworks. The company started in the owner’s garage two years ago and now has 15 employees that you manage. The company started as a sole proprietorship, and the owner has never changed the entity. The owner has informed you that the company has received inquiries from several large businesses wondering if the company could create several fireworks displays on a regular basis. The owner told the inquirers that the company could fill such display orders, and a price per display was agreed upon. It was discussed that most of the cost for a fireworks display is for skilled labor, insurance, and the actual service of setting off the fireworks. No other details were discussed. The owner is anticipating that new employees will need to be hired, but he is worried that if the large orders for fireworks displays do not continue, the company will not have the funds to pay the new employees. The owner is now considering changing the business entity, but he does not know what entity to form or how to form it.

The owner has asked you to do the following:

  • Determine if the contracts with the businesses will be governed by common law or the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), and explain why.
  • Analyze whether the owner formed a contract with the businesses, and apply the five essential elements of an enforceable contract.
  • Explain the potential personal liability to Acme Fireworks if a spectator is injured by a stray firework from a fireworks display.
  • Discuss the different employment types and relationships relevant to agency law, and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of each type specific to Acme Fireworks.
  • Explain why Acme Fireworks should not operate as a sole proprietorship. Recommend a new business entity, and provide rationale to support your recommendation.

For each task, be sure to analyze the relevant law, apply the facts to the law, and make a conclusion.
