The article by B. J. Leff from the readings for this module explores the idea of how music, movies, and television of the masses can be important historical artifacts.

Consider that the average American watches just over 5 hours of television a day. Think about that for a moment. That means we are on average, in front of a TV or tablet nearly 35 hours a week!

Now pause and reflect on some of those hours you have spent in front of a TV. What is your favorite television show? Why do you like it? Who are the show’s main characters? What positive and negative qualities do they exhibit? How is your favorite show, as Leff suggests, a historical artifact (a reflection of the social, political, and cultural current events) of the time? Do you see social issues reflected in the characters or plots?

    Scenario
You are the regional sales manager for International Herb Express (IHE) which is a large, US-based spice & herbs supplier. IHE sells to other businesses that purchase bulk spices and spice blends for use in their end products. The primary customers are baking and soup mix corporations that sell to other businesses, for example, bakeries, restaurants, other food-service, and regional grocery chains. IHE is launching a new spice blend that reflects a more diverse cultural & ethnic flavor profile than IHE’s traditional offerings.
The abridged marketing strategy for this new spice blend is to target both current customers, but also to reach new customers that are target regions with higher ethnic diversity and/or the more adventurous “foodies” market. The marketing efforts will focus on taste testing, sampling, and on-site promotion. IHE is launching this marketing plan to help create a product offering that is not as commodity-driven (as most spices and herbs are the same quality no matter where they are purchased) and can potentially offer higher profit margins.
It is important to note that spices and other ingredients are raw goods and traded as commodities. The raw price for these goods changes on a day-to-day basis. Pricing is based on classic supply and demand, though nature is a key contributor to the supply–extreme weather as well as health of crops have a direct impact on the supply chain and access to the raw goods.
    Instructions
As the regional sales manager, you are part of the Customer Service Task Force for IHE. During a monthly meeting, you became aware of a reoccurring challenge the customer service team is experiencing. When current or potential customers contact customer service to inquire about the new ‘spice blend,’ the customer service team cannot answer basic questions or offer a level of service that your sales force often promotes in their communications with buyers. This occurs via telephone and email inquiries as well as when potential clients use your website and social media pages as a point of engagement.
In particular, the customer service team is unable to utilize the training that they have had on handling inquires such as these since the product offering is new and more complex than your day-to-day product offerings.
You need to prepare a training manual that focuses on the new product offering. The training manual will need to include:

    • Introduction to build the value of the customer service team supporting the company’s sales efforts
    • Key customer service skills and areas of expertise needed to be effective
    • Establish a process to guide a customer service team to share basic sales information with customers/potential customers
    • A recommendation to utilize customer service technology to enhance the experience for potential customers. (You can assume that the customer service teams have access to technologies such as a CRM package, https://paperwriters.xyz/uncategorized/importance-of-custo

Discussion: Purposeful Sampling and Saturation

What is a good sample in qualitative research? It is NOT about size or generalizability.

The answer lies in how clearly you articulate the criteria for selecting data sources; (b) your ability to purposefully select cases; and (c) the extent to which those cases are “information-rich… for in-depth study” (Patton, 2015, p. 264) with respect to the purpose of the study.

As you prepare for this week’s Discussion, consider turning your attention to the variety of purposeful sampling strategies you may consider in developing your research plan. Also consider that qualitative researchers seek a threshold or cut-off point for when to stop collecting data. There is no magic number (although there are guidelines). Rather, saturation occurs as an interface between the researcher and the data and (b) between data collection and data analysis to determine when enough is enough.

For this Discussion, you will critique a sampling strategy used in a research article.

To prepare for this Discussion:

  • Review the Guest, Bunce, and Johnson article; the Yob and Brewer article; and the Learning Resources related to sampling and saturation for this week.

Assignment:

Prepare a critique of the sampling strategy used by Yob and Brewer (n.d.). Include the following your critique:

  • The purpose of the study
  • Research questions
  • Site selection
  • The type of purposeful sampling strategy the researchers applied. (Note: Use Table 4.3 in the Ravitch & Carl text or from Patton’s Chapter 5 to identify and describe the strategy that you think best fits what they described.)
  • An alternative sampling strategy that the researchers could have considered. Explain your choice in terms of how the strategy is consistent with their research purpose and criteria for selecting cases.
  • Provide a data saturation definition and evaluate the work of the researchers in this article regarding their efforts to achieve data saturation. Note what the researchers could have done differently to convince you that the relevant and important themes emerged.

Be sure to support your main post and response post with reference to the week’s Learning Resources and other scholarly evidence in APA style.

Ethical Issue of boycotting companies, celebrities, others

Ethical Issue of boycotting companies, celebrities, others

In some instances, companies (as well as celebrities and others) have been boycotted because of their speech on or support of certain issues.   In some instances this involves boycotting advertisers who are threatened with non-purchase of their products if they continue to advertise on that show or use that celebrity.

Some past boycotts include (in 1960s) the United Farmworkers urging the boycott of grapes and lettuce in grocery stores to support their efforts to better working conditions for farm labor;  LGBT groups proposing boycott of Coors because of their hiring practices; Bill Maher “Politically Incorrect” show boycott of advertisers after his 9/11 comments.

More recently there was the boycott of Goya Food products because its CEO praised Trump after an event he attended at the White House.  (Apparently there was also a more recent boycott attempt on his newer show (Real Time with Bill Maher) by Congress person Tlaib.)

In the past, boycotts would be accomplished by concerned groups getting their message out by protesting in public and getting the press to cover their calls to boycott.  Today, such initiatives can be intensified through the use of social media to propose a boycott to the masses.

Discussion Question:

There is no law against simply urging a boycott by the public of a product or a company (or show) or urging the public not to purchase the products of advertisers on that show.   Although this type of boycott is legal, is it ethical?  Utilize your knowledge of analyzing ethical issues (i.e., stakeholder effects) to explain your answer to this question.  (If ethical, are there circumstances where it is not ethical?)  Do the benefits outweigh the costs?  Clearly explain your response in specific detail.  Please carefully plan, write, rewrite, and edit before submitting.

I have posted an article from The Marketing Journal about Boycotts to give you some discussion and background about boycotts.

This should be your own work with no help or assistance from anyone else. You can respond to another post only to disagree and provide a rebuttal that is not simply repeating what someone has already said.  (Add something or let your (or others) posting speak for themselves.)  See instructions and guidance on Canvas.

Information Systems {Cloud Computing Vendor}

Read the three categories of cloud-based services offerings and the “Falcon Security” case study in Chapter 6 in the textbook. Identify the advantages and disadvantages associated with cloud computing, and the definitions of infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and software as service (SaaS), as described throughout the case.

Write a 750-1,000 word paper about which cloud computing service and cloud vendor would best meet Falcon Security’s needs. Include the following in your paper:

Describe which cloud-based solution Falcon Security should consider. Explain why Falcon Security should choose that cloud-based company?

List the advantages and disadvantages of the different categories in relation to Falcon Security and support your decision.

A brief description of the types of service that cloud-based companies provide and justification as to why you would choose that particular vendor? Research different companies (e.g., Research Salesforce, AWS, Microsoft Azure, or iCloud).

What must Falcon Security examine prior to engaging with a cloud-base vendor? List the advantages and disadvantages of your decision?

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite.

Analyzing Descriptive Statistics

Analyzing Descriptive Statistics

As a practice scholar, you are searching for evidence to translate into practice. In your review of evidence, you locate a quantitative descriptive research study as possible evidence to support a practice change. You notice the sample of this study includes 200 participants and is not normally distributed. Reflect upon this scenario to address the following.

  • What statistical procedure is needed to determine an effective sample size to make a reasonable conclusion? Explain your rationale.
  • Reading through the study, you observe that the researcher used a chi-square analysis to analyze nominal and ordinal data. Is this the appropriate level of statistical analysis to answer the research question? Explain your rationale.
  • Reading further, the researcher reports that the p-level led her to conclude that the null hypothesis was rejected. In your critique of the study, you determine that the null hypothesis is true. Do these findings impact your decision about whether to use this evidence to inform practice change? Why or why not?
  • how the integrative review, meta-analysis, systematic review, and meta-synthesis differ and how they are similar.
  • Why research is a critical component in solving practice problems?

Instructions:

Use an APA 7 style and a minimum of 350 words. Provide support from a minimum of at least three (3) scholarly sources. The scholarly source needs to be: 1) evidence-based, 2) scholarly in nature, 3) Sources should be no more than five years old (published within the last 5 years), and 4) an in-text citation. citations and references are included when information is summarized/synthesized and/or direct quotes are used, in which APA style standards apply.

• Textbooks are not considered scholarly sources.

• Wikipedia, Wikis, .com website or blogs should not be used.

OVERVIEW

Complete the Midterm Assignment by composing a 57-page research-based essay response to the following theme: The UN as global police force and negotiation facilitator. The essay is dealing mainly with Chapter 7 on the search for peace and security, yet encompassing other issues written about and discussed in Module 1: Week 1 – Module 3: Week 3.The Midterm is open-book/open-note/open-research and focuses on the assigned readings, the discussion topics, the presentations, and other research related to the course content. The assignment must be in current APA format.

INSTRUCTIONS

Reasoning with clear ideas and examples in any manner you choose whether separately or integrated, answer the questions bellow indicating the limits and possibilities of justification for the UN as a global police force or negotiation facilitator between hostile or potentially hostile states

  • Include the following related questions as headings:
    1. What is the scope of its authority to act as an enforcement institution or negotiation facilitator?
    2. What kinds of international problems does it seek to ameliorate or resolve, and does the seriousness of these problems warrant a global rather than regional or state response?
    3. What are its methods and instruments of containment, enforcement, or persuasion—how does it get peoples and states to comply with its dictates or at least restrain themselves?
    4. What are the chief limits of its ability to act as a legitimate global police authority or negotiation facilitator? Why does Mearsheimer believe that international institutions like the UN offer a ‘false promise’ of greater security than the current state system can offer?

Women Health – Week 6 Discussion 1st REPLY

– Please reply to the following discussion with one reference. Participate in the discussion by asking a question, providing a statement of clarification, providing a point of view with a rationale, challenging an aspect of the discussion, or indicating a relationship between two or more lines of reasoning in the discussion. Cite resources in your responses to other classmates.

Discussion:

Kyla is a sixteen-year-old female who presents with severe pelvic pain. Initially, the interview should focus on the pain, whether the pain is continuous or not, and if anything causes the pain to worsen. I would also like to know the beginning of her pain, whether the problem was gradual or spontaneous. In addition, we should see the level of her stress and if she has taken any medication. She also presents with nausea; it is essential to know if she has vomited. Lastly, it is vital to understand whether she is sexually active and if she is using protection.

This clinical presentation corresponds to ovarian torsion because of the onset of acute pain in the lower abdomen accompanied by nausea and vomiting. The patient also presents with pelvic or abdominal tenderness and palpable adnexal mass.

The first diagnostic study should include a pelvic exam. During the pelvic exam, the healthcare professional performing it can feel the cyst in the lower abdomen.

The primary diagnosis is ovarian torsion, which refers to the twisting of the ovary around its stalk, and it’s associated with severe abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. The differential diagnoses include ectopic pregnancy, pelvic inflammatory disease, and ovarian cysts.

The best treatment plan for the patient will include urgent surgery to remove the ovary and prevent ovarian necrosis; with surgery, we reduce the chance of infection on the necrotic ovary. In some cases, the ovary is not damaged yet, and the ovary’s untwisting can be made. After surgery patient will be instructed to take antibiotics and pain medications. A follow-up visit will be necessary a week after surgery.

GSA Wants You

Your partner in Aerospace Drones is a service-disabled Iraq war veteran. You recently learned about a federal acquisition rule allowing agencies to provide sole-source and set-aside contracts to service-disabled, veteran-owned small businesses. This means agencies must devote three percent of their spending to this qualified small business owners, a goal set by Congress in the 00s. While your partner has majority (51%) ownership in the company, you are responsible for federal contract administration and oversight. You were recently alerted to an Energy Department RFP for drones needed for geo mapping. Now you must reply to a U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Schedules solicitation for your products. To prepare for this, you must write at 3–4 page preliminary report for your partner and senior management which details the following:

Assignment Instructions

  1. Describe the electronic data interchange (EDI) or electronic submission processes and the security measures present in this approach. Analyze the advantages over classic paper solicitations.
  2. Analyze whether your company has as much of a chance of having its bid accepted as a much larger corporation by comparing the advantages of being a small company over being a larger firm (e.g., Boeing) in terms of contract administration and management.
  3. Speculate on how you would negotiate during the contract award process once your solicitation is accepted.
  4. Determine the value of your most favored customer or class of customers to GSA. Analyze its impact on your small business.
  5. Assess the different marketing methods used to market to the federal government. Select three most effective methods you would use to market your product or service to the U.S. government. Provide a rationale for your selection.

Formatting Requirements

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • This course requires the use of Strayer Writing Standards. For assistance and information, please refer to the Strayer Writing Standards link in the left-hand menu of your course. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Use at least three quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources.

The specific course learning outcome associated with this assignment is:

  • Examine the process of replying to a U.S. government solicitation relative to contract negotiations, customer value, and marketing methods.

Week 5 Journal: Ethics, Subjectivity, and the Art of Diagnosis

Ethics, Subjectivity, and the Art of Diagnosis

[WLO: 8] [CLOs: 4, 6]

Although psychology prides itself on being a science, the art of diagnosis goes beyond a simple checklist of symptoms. Clinicians generally recognize that any diagnostic exercise must include a culturally sensitive interpretation and analysis of symptoms. Considering that only a bachelor’s degree in psychology does not prepare you to do diagnosis, it is important to consider how having this knowledge could support you in other careers. It is also important to consider that even a doctorate in psychology does not license you to treat with prescription medicine. To perform this level of diagnosis and treatment, you would have to earn a medical degree in psychiatry. To learn more, read the article Psychology vs. Psychiatry: Do You Know the Difference? (Links to an external site.)

To successfully complete this journal,

  • Identify at least three disorders that you studied during this course and summarize what the disorders entail.
  • Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Dementia
  • Separation anxiety disorder

  • Discuss how an understanding of these disorders could support you in a career, prior to achieving expertise in a graduate program, by addressing the following:
    • Consider the knowledge application to working with others in a team setting or working with families, etcetera.
    • Relate this to the career you have now or one you wish to obtain after earning your bachelor’s degree. Current career: Eyecare Exam Tech/…..wish to obtain social worker for CPS (child protective services)
    • If you do not plan on gaining employment after graduation, how could this understanding support you in your personal and social contexts?
  • Analyze the rationales, including the ethical considerations that exist for becoming more educated prior to personally performing diagnosis.

Your journal, this week, should be between 400 to 500 words and have an introduction and a conclusion as described in the Ashford University Writing Center’s resource Introductions & Conclusions (Links to an external site.). You should exhibit obvious attention to critical thought and understanding of the content, as demonstrated in Samantha Agoos’s TED-Ed animation 5 Tips to Improve Your Critical Thinking (Links to an external site.). You should include APA citations (Links to an external site.) as needed to support your ideas. As this is your personal reflection about the material this week, your journal should limit the use of quoted material. Proper grammar should be applied, for which you should consider using the Ashford Writing Center’s Grammarly: A Free Proofreading Tool (Links to an external site.) resource. At minimum cite your text to support your assertions in your explanation, but you may also use additional scholarly sources. The Scholarly, Peer Reviewed, and Other Credible Sources (Links to an external site.) table offers additional guidance on appropriate source types. References should be listed following the reflection. You will have until 11:59 p.m. on Day 7 (Monday) to deliver this journal reflection.
