Assignment Description

Assignment Details

In this course you will demonstrate your knowledge of object-oriented programming by writing Java programs. The first step is to install the Java Software Development Kit (JDK) and an integrated development environment (IDE) called NetBeans in which you will write, execute and debug your programs. In this assignment you will also write your first program using Java to show that you have correctly installed the IDE and have learned the fundamentals of coding in the Java language.

The project instructions and deliverables are as follows (read through these instructions fully before beginning your assignment):

  1. Download and install JDK and NetBeans using the installation instructions. Visit the School of Information Technology Library Guide. On this page, look for the Installation Guides, then open the guide that has instructions for installing NetBeans and Java.
  2. Create a console program that allows the user to enter these three pieces of information:
    • The name of their favorite restaurant
    • The location or address of the restaurant
    • How often they eat at a restaurant each month
    • Each input in your program must be preceded by on-screen instructions that tell the user what to do. Each input must be stored in its own variable with an appropriate data type, and you must use a name for the variable that indicates what information it contains. For example, you might call the variable that stores the first input (the favorite restaurant) “favrest”, or “restaurant”.
  3. After accepting each input, the program must thank the user for entering the information and then display what they entered on the screen. For example, if the user entered “McDonald’s” for their favorite restaurant, the program must say something like “Thank you! You entered: McDonald’s”. This must appear in the output window before continuing to the next input.
  4. If the user enters 10 or more as the number of times they eat at a restaurant each month, the program must, in place of the usual report to the screen, instead inform the user with a special message of some kind, such as “Big spender!” or “Consider cooking at home!”. Be creative but professional with your message. If they do not enter 10 or more as that number, then the program must instead follow the output requirements of the previous step.
  5. When all the above steps have been completed and the output reported to the screen, the program must thank the user for their information and then terminate.
  6. Document your code using appropriate in-line comments. This includes variable declarations, input and output methods, and conditional logic. Your comments must explain how the program works to a programmer who is familiar with Java and NetBeans but has not seen this program before.

Your deliverable for this assignment is the NetBeans project you created using the steps above (ZIP the whole folder that contains the project). You must also submit a screenshot showing NetBeans running on your computer (upload separately or add to the ZIP).

crime

300 words

Describe the fields of criminology and criminal justice; provide some of their similarities and differences. Many theorists believe that criminology is becoming a greater part of criminal justice.

What are some of the ways in which the scientific methods used in criminology are also being used today in the fields of law enforcement, courts, and corrections?

Do you believe that these methods have made the field of criminology stronger or more complicated?

Consider the following scenario:

John continues to work with Jeff, nevertheless. They have regular fights and arguments on similar issues with John always being dishonest in terms of financial dealings. None of them calls upon the police or the court as legitimate way of resolving the issue as both of them were deeply enmeshed in criminal ways of life. One day when they have a fight again, Jeff hits John on his head with a glass, causing John to be hospitalized for over a month.

Examine whether Jeff has committed a crime in the context of the following elements required to constitute a criminal act:

The concurrence and causation of a criminal act

Actus reus

Inchoate offenses

Mens rea

What are the legal definitions of these elements? How are acts that are not violations of the criminal law differentiated from acts that violate the criminal law? What would have the treatment of the above scenario in law if the crime had been committed by John instead of Jeff? Would it have changed the definition of crime? If so, how and why?

ECO 204 Week 2 Assignment

 Raise or Lower Tuition?

Suppose that, in an attempt to raise more revenue, Nobody State University increases its tuition. Will this necessarily result in more revenue? Under what conditions will revenue (a) rise, (b) fall, or (c) remain the same? Explain this process, focusing on the relationship between the increased revenue from students enrolling at NSU despite the higher tuition and the lost revenue from possible lower enrollment. If the true price elasticity were -1.2, what would you suggest the university do to expand revenue? If you were the president of NSU, how would you tackle this problem based on what you have learned in this course?

Describe measures that you would take as a nurse to assist clients with health promotion measures to incorporate exercise and physical activity into their lives.

 : Topic 4 DQ 2

The two health issues prevalent among the middle-aged adults that physical exercise can help with in their health promotion when incorporated into their lives are high blood pressure and type 11 diabetes mellitus. High blood pressure is defined as systolic blood pressure >140mmHg, diastolic blood pressure >90mmHg. Worldwide, high blood pressure is estimated to cause 7.5 million deaths about 12.8% of the total of all deaths. It accounts for about 57 million disabilities and alteration from normal life functions.High blood pressure is a risk factor in a multiple of diseases such as: CHD, ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke, heart failure, peripheral vascular disease, renal impairment, retinal hemorrhage and visual impairment (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2021).

Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. Your body does not use insulin properly and your pancreas cannot keep up and make enough insulin to keep blood glucose at a normal levels(American Diabetes Association, 2016). According to the American Diabetes Association (ADA). 1.4 million Americans are diagnosed with diabetes every year. Prediabetes in 2012, 86 million Americans age 20 years and older had prediabetes this has increased from 79 million in 2010. The complications from diabetes or comorbidities are: hypoglycemia, hypertension, dyslipidemia, CVD death rates (higher in those with diabetes), heart attack rates (higher in those with diabetes), stroke, blindness and eye problems, kidney disease, and amputations are all a possibility(American Diabetes Association, 2016).

These two health issues, high blood pressure and diabetes type 2, are interwoven in nature, as one condition might lead to the other health issues. So with physical exercise and activities health issues such as high blood pressure as well as type 11 diabetes can be mitigated and may result in better overall health outcome for the middle-aged adults.Lack of physical exercise on the other hand, would result in preventable health complications due to high blood pressure or type 11 diabetes mellitus(American College of Cardiology [Cardio Smart], 2021).

Physical activity is anything that gets your body moving. Adults need two types of physical activity: aerobic and muscle strengthening. Adults need at least 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity aerobic activity, like a brisk walk, which works out to 30 minutes 5 days a week. Muscle strengthening activity 2 or more days a week with all major muscle groups (legs, hips, back, abdomen, chest, shoulders, and arms). Types of exercise for aerobics consist of: walking fast, water aerobics, riding a bike on level ground with a few hills, playing doubles tennis, pushing a lawn mower. Types of muscle strengthening exercises: lifting weights, working with resistance bands, doing exercise that use your own body for resistance, i.e. Push-ups and sit-ups, heavy gardening i.e. Digging and shoveling, yoga(CDC, 2021).

According to the American Heart Association journal regular physical activity improves aerobic capacity, muscular strength, body agility and coordination, and metabolic function, improvement in bone density, lipid profiles, insulin levels, and immune functions(American Heart Association, 2021).

Nurses need to provide information that will motivate and enable patients to change behavior and to maintain those changes overtime. Education shows the patient how disease prevention and risk reduction can be helped by physical exercise and activities. Nurses can explain methods of overcoming barriers and negative attitudes about physical activities(American Heart Association, 2021). Suggest stairs instead of elevators. Community wide campaigns deliver messages that promote activity. They can use many components that include support and self-help groups; physical activity counseling; risk factor screening, and education workshops, health fairs, and creating community walking trails, include the patient in the planning of their own care(CDC, 2021).

Respond using 200-300 words APA format with references supporting the discussion

For the middle-aged adult, exercise can reduce the risk of various health problems. Choose two at-risk health issues that regular physical exercise and activity can help prevent and manage. Discuss the prevalence of each of these health problems in society today. Describe measures that you would take as a nurse to assist clients with health promotion measures to incorporate exercise and physical activity into their lives. Include the kind of activities you would recommend, the amount of exercise, and the approach you would use to gain cooperation from the client. Support your response with evidence-based literature.

FICTION ESSAY 102

an someone do this for me please; NOTE THIS WILL ALL TIE INTO A RESEARCH PAPER SO THERE IS MORE DETAIL SO I WILL NEED ONE PERSON TO WORK ON THE SAME ITEM.

Fiction Essay Instructions

You must complete the required textbook readings in preparation for the Fiction Essay. This will equip you to objectively respond to the readings by compiling information from a variety of sources in order to compose a persuasive analysis of a literary work. You will also learn to follow standard usage in English grammar and sentence structure; identify the theme and structure of each literary selection as well as the significant characteristics or elements of each genre studied; and evaluate the literary merit of a work (Syllabus MLOs: A, B, C, D, F, G and Module/Week 3 LOs: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5).

In Module/Week 3, you will write a 750-word (approximately 3 pages) essay that compares and contrasts 2 stories from the Fiction Unit. Before you begin writing the essay, carefully read the below guidelines for developing your paper topic and review the Fiction Essay Grading Rubric to see how your submission will be graded. Gather all of your information, plan the direction of your essay, and organize your ideas by developing a 1-page thesis statement and outline for your essay. Format the thesis statement and the outline in a single Microsoft Word document using current MLA, APA, or Turabian style (whichever corresponds to your degree program); check your Perrine’s Literature textbook, the Harbrace Essentials Handbook and/or the link contained in the Assignment Instructions Folder to ensure correct citation format is used.

Your Fiction Essay must include a title page, a thesis/outline page, and the essay itself, followed by a works cited/references/bibliography page listing any primary and/or secondary texts cited in your essay.

You must submit your thesis and outline by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of Module/Week 2 for instructor feedback.

Submit your Fiction Essay by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of Module/Week 3

Guidelines for Developing Your Paper Topic

The “Writing about Literature” section of your Perrine’s Literature textbook (pp. 1–54) and the “Writing” section of Harbrace Essentials (pp. 1–12, 15–16, 18–21, 22–28) provide helpful pointers for writing your literary essay and for academic writing in general. Be sure that you have read these sections before doing any further work for this assignment. Take particular notice of the examples of fiction essays on pp. 38–43 of Perrine’s Literature textbook.

Choose 2 of the following short stories to compare and contrast in your essay:

· “The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson

· “The Destructors” by Graham Greene

· “The Rocking-Horse Winner” by D.H. Lawrence

· “Young Goodman Brown” by Nathaniel Hawthorne

· “The Prodigal Son” by St. Luke

Also, at least 1 of these elements of fiction must be the focus of your essay:

· Conflict/Plot/Structure

· Characterization

· Setting

· Theme/Authors’ Purposes

· Point of View, and/

· Tone/Style/Irony/Symbol/Imagery

If you need help focusing your essay, ask yourself questions that correspond to your chosen element(s).

Conflict/Plot/Structure (This is not a summary of the stories)

· What are the basic conflicts? How do these conflicts build tension and lead to major, complicated incidents and climactic moment(s)?

  • What are the      ways in which each major character experiences conflict (either with self,      with other characters, or with the social and/or physical environment)?

· How are the conflicts resolved? Do the protagonists succeed in achieving their goals?

· Which character receives your deepest sympathy and why?

Characterization

  • Who are the      main characters in the stories?
  • What are      their outstanding qualities? Does the author give any indication as to how      or why the character developed these qualities?
  • What are the      characters’ emotions, attitudes, and behaviors? What do these indicate to      the reader about the character?
  • Can the characters’      motivations be determined from the text?

Setting

  • Where and when      do the stories take place (remember to include such details as geographic      location, time of year, time period, if the setting is rural or urban, etc.)?
  • Do the      settings make the stories believable or credible? How does setting impact      the plot of the story, and how would the plot be affected if the story      took place in another setting?
  • Are the      characters influenced by their setting? How might they behave if they were      in a different setting?
  • What      atmosphere or mood does the setting create (for example, darkness may      create a mood of fear or unhappiness while light or bright colors may      create one of happiness)?
  • Is the      setting or any aspect of it a symbol, or does the setting express      particular ideas?
  • Does setting      create expectations that are the opposite of what occurs?

Theme/Authors’ Purposes

  • What is the      major theme (or themes) of each story?
  • Are the      themes of the stories similar or different?
  • How does the      author convey the theme (or themes) to the reader?
  • How do the      stories’ themes relate to the authors’ purposes (some examples of author      purposes are to entertain, to satirize, to realistically portray life’s      problems, to analyze emotions and responses, and/or to communicate a moral      message)?
  • What unique      style, techniques, or devices do the writers use to communicate their      themes?

Tone/Style/Irony/Symbol

  • How would you      describe the tone of the piece?
  • Does the tone      correspond with the action occurring in the plot?
  • What style does      the author use (for example, one way an author might satirize is by      including a lot of irony, hyperbole, and unrealistic scenarios)?
  • How might the      story be different if the tone or style were to be changed?
  • Does the      writer use irony or symbols to communicate the message?

NOTE: These questions are a means of ordering your thoughts while you collect information for your essay. You do not need to include the answers to all of these questions in your essay; only include those answers that directly support your thesis statement need to be included

business finance answer 3 questions

1. By going to Money Chimp, you can either enter your own information or calculate a married couple filing jointly that makes $62,000. In the textbox section of the assignment link, record what amount you used (either $62,000 or your taxable income), the tax amount, “as a percentage of income,” and the tax bracket. You must have 4 numbers in your submission.

2.Use Time Value of Money (financial calculator or Excel) to answer the following prompt:

I owe $5,000 in taxes. I have to make 12 monthly payments at 18%. Calculate what the monthly payment would be. Please make sure that you show your inputs and round 2 decimal points.

3. In your reading, you discovered that everyone has the option to take the standard deduction or itemize their deductions. Assume someone (age 35) is married. Combined, they make $50,000, and own a house on which they owe $100,000. They give 10% of their income to charity, pay 6% interest on their mortgage (they have an interest-only loan and have made no principal reductions), and had $3,200 in medical expenses. Would they be better off to use the standard deduction or itemize? Read the information in your notes and look at the information at http://www.bankrate.com/finance/taxes/standard-or-itemized-tax-deduction.aspx to decide. Please compare the actual standard deduction that they can deduct versus the itemizations that they can deduct from the given information. Whichever amount is higher is the one that you would want to use, as that will lower the tax amount.
