Course Learning Outcome Statement EN206
I wrote my paper and my feed back was- This is supposed to be a professional writing paper, however there were a lot of errors and run on sentences. Please reread it, make the changes (grammar, spelling, capitalization). It needs to be more professional. Since this suppose to be a professional paper that I am writing for this course to get college credit for this class.
Course Learning Outcome Statement The Course Learning Outcomes section of the portfolio describes how the student has met the learning outcomes for the course(s) that are being pursued through the Prior Learning Assessment Portfolio.
Students are required to write a statement for the learning outcomes that have been identified for the course(s) the student is requesting credit for. The faculty advisor will review the statement. The statement should be well written and supported by sufficient evidence of the student’s learning. It should convey motivation, competence, and the ability to communicate. The focus of the statement is not autobiographical, it should focus on analyzing the student’s learning in the context of the experience. This will be used when determining the number of credits and courses a student receives for learning. The statement should be clear, concise, and descriptive. There is no set length for the narrative, but generally it is three to five pages long, depending on the number of credits/courses being pursued. Students should complete as many pages as necessary to describe their learning and discuss how the learning is connected with the course and degree requirements.
Course Learning Outcome Statement Outline
1. A short introduction identifying the course the student has selected for PLA and describing the learning that the narrative will substantiate.
2. The student should write approximately one paragraph for each course outcome. Each paragraph should describe the following: What you know How you gained the knowledge/how did you learn and how this learning/knowledge relates to the course’s learning outcomes How this learning applied in other contexts (provide clear examples) How this learning relates to college-level learning
3. A short conclusion summarizing your learning and relating it to the course learning.

EN206: Professional Writing and Presentation
When it comes to professional writing and presentation it’s all about the tone, audience and professional language that are a few of my strong points. The clinical providers and leadership team is my main audience and individuals that I work closely with. The importance of professional writing and presentation is where I learned more as a Senior Administration Assistant II. I crafted the art of writing in the business admin world in sending out emails and business letters to communicate information quickly and organized. Here are some tools that I picked up:
· Know your purpose.
· Know your audience.
· Keep it simple.
· Pay attention to grammar and spelling.
· Create visually appealing documents.
· Be brief and concise.
· Edit you material.
When writing emails or business letters and memos and sending it out. I make sure the tone is correct and formal, and my personal voice is in my writing as professional language is being used to my recipient in receiving the message or letter as clear as possible. My emails are being represented of how professional I am, communicating with Leadership and upper management members. In addition to emails and business letters are being sent to vendors and other companies getting grants and funding for the department. In my department we must be gender neutral, in our emails and letters and policies and reports, in every aspect as a department working together and taken care of patients also. Gender-neutral language or gender-inclusive language is what we use to avoid bias towards a particular disabilities, race & ethnicity and sex or social gender.
Writing my business letters and Memos I make sure to include a letterhead of my name and company address and my department, and date. Then I would add the receiver’s name and address, a salutation, and my body of paragraphs, and a closing. Usually when I am sending out a Memo to my department: I would include –my heading, -the subject in which I am addressing and the date. –the topic for discussion, then sometimes write a conclusion. When I am sending out important emails or creating important letters or documentation, I make sure that I proofread the document before sending it out or printing it. Such as checking the spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization.
In the Administrative Suite I create short reports to a brief statement which contains facts and figures to inform and provide the essential information about the topic usually is a paragraph long, very straight to the point. Throughout my education and career I have gain knowledge of using Microsoft- Excel and PowerPoint. I use Excel- spreadsheets almost every day- Inventory, Payroll, Projects or collecting data for reports and metrics report for how many patients are being seen by Provider and PA. Using excel formulas to get percentage and ratios. Recently in a meeting I did a PowerPoint Presentation on our ED’s Discharge Lounge. Where I had to do research and collect data, and create graphs and pie charts to visually show the numbers of patients that are receiving treatments after the ER visit. How to improve our numbers and quality of life for our patients, by doing follow-up discharge calls and setting up appointments and directing the patients to the correct point of care.
The way I conduct my emails and present myself is always in a professional way. Data collection is something I work on quarterly with the physicians in my department. I work on their time studies which is a breakdown and report of all of their teaching academic hours, administrative hours and clinical hours. These job responsibilities were different from any other health care jobs I previously had. I take professionalism very seriously because in Healthcare we are dealing with many difference individuals and it is important to always be professional and treat others with the upmost respect. I look forward to continue to become more confident and proficient in this area and to gain new knowledge and begin my degree.
Discussion reply
Response 1:
have enjoyed my time in the program, but i can say that I am more than elated that this journey has come to an end. I have learned alot about myself and more about how to be a good leader. I was able to use the emotional intelligence, people management, and strategy course in my everyday life. These takeaways caused me to think differently. The biggest take away has been having your team live and breathe the vision. This made sense to me on many levels. it caused me to think about what vision i wanted to have for my position and how i could communicate that to the people that i affected by my job. These have impacted my leadership as i have a guideline of what I should look for in leadership development. I am currently in a management training position and i will get a chance to apply these tool snot only in my job where i am but in different places across the company in the next three years. I will touch different departments and this will give me the necessary tools to make the most of my leadership and management training. I have found that leadership is something that I really enjoy. I have not necessarily received any promotions because of this but I feel like this program was something that was considered when being put in my current program. I have grown considerably in understanding my leadership style, and developing my vision for each position i encounter. More importantly, I grew as a person.
****************************************
response 2:
t’s been a journey of growth and perhaps more importantly, clarification of assumptions during my time. The different courses have integrated into a decision-making process that I believe allow me to cut to the core issues, weigh the risks and returns of a strategic decision, manage the people involved through change and communication management processes, and test and adapt to those decisions. Importantly, I learned to focus less on lofty vision and mission statements, but focus on aligning them to the practical, implementation parts to test and make adjustments from there.
Practically, the use of candor, team communication and Lean Six Sigma principles were immediately applicable to my team. Strategic planning has become a clear interest for me, careerwise. Out of that, however, is the awareness of a need to grow in developing communication strategies that help people not just buy-in, but “map-out” the timing of when components should be made known to people.
My ability to lead has improved significantly, both upwards, laterally and down. At work, I’m considered a problem solver who is able to communicate a rationale for why decisions are made, and why certain resources need to be sacrificed to achieve results in a priority area. It doesn’t make me loved, but people understand the “why” and feel respected enough that it was communicated to them – a change in our previous management team’s style, which was primarily top-down and directive.
With respect to promotions, because I work in government I’m relatively limited with respect to bonuses – which is to say none. Having said that, I have been assessed as “exceeded expectations” during my two years at JWMI and received the highest raises on our scale as possible; I’ve taken on new responsibilities such as becoming the Lead Purchaser for the directorate, and becoming the lead for the program’s electronic medical records system. As well, I’ve been given a fair amount of autonomy in my work, which is important to me as it signals trust and reduces the “friction points” for my day-to-day.
Most importantly, I feel that I am well prepared to take on future challenges. Since my work has predominantly been in non-profit, or government, I had a sense of inadequacy with respect to going into the private sector – I don’t know what I don’t know. Now, I feel more than willing to embrace those inadequacies (I’m not a data scientist), and believe that I can contribute despite them with both perspective and critical thinking.
American Revolution Articles Analysis
Read TWO of the articles below, one each on a topic you haven’t studied much but think is important.
1. Summarize the key points from the two articles, identifying each article with author and title as you begin. (About 1/2 page for each summary, about 1 page total)
2. Discuss why this information isn’t better known and why it should be better known. Explain. (About 1/2 – 1 page total)
3. Discuss whether this information would make people more or less patriotic (or have no effect). Explain. (About 1/2 – 1 page total)
Use only the information from the two articles you chose. I want your analysis, not something you found on the Internet on the subject. Work alone. You can discuss all three parts of the question for the first article, then all three for the second, or answer Part 1 for the two, then Part 2, then Part 3.
2-3 pages, 12 point font, 1 inch margin all around, double-space. You don’t need a title page or Works Cited since you are only discussing the two articles which you will identify in the first paragraph or as soon as you start discussing them. Use proper American English spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and paragraphs.

Short paper 3
In February 2015, Walmart announced that it is increasing wages to just over $10 an hour for all employees. This wage is now substantially higher than the federal minimum wage but still below the $15 an hour rate recommended by many labor activist groups. Review the following information on the recent wage changes:
- In Letter to Associates, Walmart CEO Doug McMillon Announces Higher Pay. The captioned version of this resource can be found here.
- What You Should Know About Walmart’s Raise
- Walmart Lifts Its Wage Floor to $9 an Hour
In a paper, respond to the following questions:
- Do you think Walmart raised wages because of supply and demand in the labor market or because of the pressure of labor activist organizations? Explain your reasoning.
- Do you think Walmart should raise wages to $15/hour to match what labor activists are calling for? Why or why not?
- Should the government raise the minimum wage and if so, to what level? Please support your answer.
Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed in each short paper:
I. Main Elements. You have addressed all of the questions in the assignment.
II. Inquiry and Analysis. You show an in-depth understanding of the concepts covered in the assignment.
III. Integration and Application. You have correctly applied the concepts discussed in the module corresponding with the assignment.
IV. Critical Thinking. You have articulated a clear conclusion based on strong rationale.
V. Research. You have incorporated at least two outside references into the assignment.
VI. Articulation of Response. You show appropriate grammar, spelling, syntax, and organization.

(comment from professor)
Hello:
I enjoyed reading your selected research study which addresses hospitalized patients with substance abuse disorders. You have offered some pertinent points in your discussion (good job!), but a few areas are still incomplete and will need to be better addressed for this week’s assignment. Allow me to offer some helpful guidance. For example, it is important to provide more specifics about the actual study, such as what type of qualitative study was conducted or at a minimum, how the data collection process occurred. There also appears to be an omission of the actual data findings which need to be added. You do accurately note that a data analysis occurred, but the details of this are missing. As you likely know, in qualitative studies, the findings are confirmed with the pertinent themes and/or patterns which emerged from the completed data analysis. In your selected article, three major themes were identified and discussed. Of these, which one do you believe was the most relevant and why? Your thoughts are important and will fully answer how the research design answered the scientific question(s). Additionally, more details of the limitations of the study should be discussed. Please refer to your Polit & Beck textbook for guidance.
Another helpful suggestion…When you are discussing details of the study, please be sure to reference the authors’/researchers’ names as in-text citations for the sake of clarity in the sentences which will also meet APA requirements.
JH Evidence Summary Tool
You are off to a nice start, but a few of the columns are still incomplete. One helpful recommendation is that in the second column, be sure to add the doi locator number and the name of the database where you retrieved the article after it. Second, be sure your font and font size are consistent throughout the tool. Please be sure to watch the Course Orientation presentation by Dr. Olson that has been posted in the Announcements area this week. That information shows some excellent examples of what this tool should look like for a successful grade in this course. Please add the required information and repost this tool as soon as possible and let me know if you have questions.
You will not regret the investment made in developing a thorough JH Evidence Summary Tool as it will help you as you progress in the DNP program.
APA Formatting
Your APA formatting is good with a few minor errors noted. Continue to use the APA resources located under the Resource tile on the course homepage to assist you with discussions and the important week 6 paper.
Thank you and please let me know if you have any questions.
Kindly,
professor

Competency
Analyze Technologies that enhance the human experience
Student Success Criteria
View the grading rubric for this deliverable by selecting the “This item is graded with a rubric” link, which is located in the Details & Information pane.
Scenario
You are the training manager for a large manufacturing company that is planning a large renovation during a two-week shutdown. All of the equipment in the assembly area is being replaced, which will take the full two weeks.
As training manager, you are concerned about how you will train the workers in the assembly area as the new equipment will not be available until after the shutdown. By the end of the two-week renovation, the assembly employees must be trained and ready to begin work using the new equipment.
The manufacturer for the new equipment has suggested augmented reality (AR)/virtual reality (VR) might be a good training solution. The plant manager asks that you prepare a training plan to be shared with employees during the next plant meeting providing them the virtual reality retraining information. Be sure to support your recommendations with credible resources. Using the assigned readings in this module is a good starting point. Research databases are listed in the Resources area below.
Instructions
You are tasked with preparing a training plan proposal that will be distributed to leadership in the form of a PDF.
The training plan proposal should introduce the AR/VR training including the format and scope. It should discuss the advantages and concerns related to using AR/VR for retraining needs.
In Microsoft Word, create the training plan proposal and then save as a PDF. The training plan proposal should accomplish these objectives:
- Introduce the training by name, purpose, scope, and format.
- Examine how using AR/VR technology enhances the human experience during training and development.
- Evaluate any concerns over using this AR/VR technology for retraining.
- Compare this AR/VR retraining to a standard retraining process.
- On an APA formatted reference page, cite supporting credible sources for your recommendations.
NOTE – Be sure the document displays proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure.
Diet Analysis Project -This project is worth 100 points-PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY!
The Diet Analysis Project is designed to:
- Assess recommendations for nutrient intake.
- Analyze nutrient intake for adequate intake of Choose My Plate Food groups.
- Describe food categories of ChooseMyPlate and unique characteristics and food belonging to each group.
Diet Analysis Project
Diet Analysis Project Instructions

This project will allow you to gather and analyze information on the foods you eat and the activites you perform throughout a three day period.
Objectives
Goal: This project will allow you to gather and analyze information on the foods you eat and the activités you perform throughout a three day period.
Objectives:
1. The student will demonstrate knowledge of the dietary goals and guidelines set for Americans by evaluating nutritional adequacy of diets using the USDA Food Guide, DRIs and online nutrition analysis software, Supertracker.
2.The student will use quantitative, analytical skills to evaluate and analyze nutrient analysés data using computer and emerging technologies effectively.
3. The student will synthesize information learned from previous course content to assess and analyze their dietary intake.
Step1: Record Food and Activity
You will choose three consecutive days, one weekend day and two weekdays, and record all of the foods you eat AND drink (even water) for the three days.
Be aware of portions, including beverages (ounces), Meats/Fish/Poultry (ounces) condiments such as ketchup, mayo, mustard, and salad dressing in teaspoons or tablespoons. Bread, fast foods, by portion such as 1 slice of whole wheat bread, 1 Big mac, 1 small McDonald’s French fries. Vegetables in cups and fruits in cups (1/2 cup cooked broccoli or by item (one small apple). The more specific you are in completing your Food Record, the more accurate the results of your choosemyplate analysis.
Review the food groups on www.choosemyplate.gov (previously the Food Guide Pyramid). Explore the food groups and portions listed under each of the food groups. Explore oils and empty calories as well. There are pictures which provide a visual image of the portion size of some foods, assisting you in portion estimation for this project.
Step 2: Enter Foods Into Supertracker and Print Reports
1. BEFORE YOU BEGIN: Read the following handout before using Supertracker. Ten Tips for Supertracker
2.Register on SUPERTRACKER which is a part of the choosemyplate.gov website . If you do not register, none of your data will be saved when you close your browser window..
Watch Video about making your profile on Supertacker
HERE.
3. Enter the foods you consumed into the Food Tracker. You should have recorded your intake on the food record form to assist you in recalling portions and foods you consumed during the three days. Enter all foods AND fluids. Some foods may not be easily found. Check spelling if you do not find the food on the 1st search, use alternate but similar food items if you can not find the EXACT item. NOTE: You will not be submitting the food record form. It is simply a data collection tool.
Watch this video about entering foods into the Supertracker Program
HERE
Note: You can change your calorie goal if you wish to lose or gain weight. Watch this video to see how to change your calorie goals
HERE.
4. Enter all physical activity that you participated over the 3 days into the Physical Activity Tracker.
5. Once you have completed entering foods and physical activity. You will download the following Three day average reports: (remember to select the date ranges to include all 3 days).
1. Food Groups and Calories
2. Nutrients
3. Physical Activity
6. Save each 3 day average in an MS Word document format. At this point, combine all three reports into ONE MS word document.
7. You will then use the reports to complete your written summary portion of this assignment.
NOTE: Only one document will be graded. The last document uploaded, will be graded. Therefore you MUST combine all reports and the nutrient anaylsis written analysis as ONE document.
Step 3: Written Analysis of Nutrient Intake Reports
You will write an analysis of your dietary intake answering the questions stated below using all of your three days average data reports, your textbook, slides, and choose my plate.gov website. Do not use other websites to validate your conclusions. Use only the course provided resources and Choose My Plate website.
See examples for analysis for each of the reports below.
What is an analysis? Remember, an analysis is using the data (your reports) to make conclusions and validating your conclusions using references such above resources.
1. Food Groups and Calories Report (10 pts possible)
- Review your Food Groups and Calories Report and use the data to write a detailed analysis describing your intake from each of the food groups.
- For each of the food groups, discuss the reasons your intake either exceeds, meets or is below the your Target : Grains, Vegetables, Fruits, Dairy, Protein Foods and include Oils, Total empty calories.
- For each of the food groups make suggestions where changes could be made to meet your Target amounts by including examples of foods you could increase or decrease your intake to better meet your target.
Example: My intake of fruits exceeded my target goals. I ate a serving of strawberries, an apple and 16 ounces of fruit juice which, according to Choosemyplate.gov, Fruit groups, put me over by 2 servings of fruit. I will reduce the portion of fruit juice by 8 ounces to decrease my servings from the fruit group.
2. Nutrients Report (10 pts possible)
Review your three day average Nutrients report and write an analysis of your Intake for all Macro and Micronutrients compared to your Target for each of them.
Use the textbook chapters and course content materials on Carbohydrates, Lipds, Protein, Vitamins and Minerals and cite references from the text to back up your analysis. In your analysis, use examples of foods you ate or did not eat that contributed to the deficiency, helped you meet your target, or contributed to excess intake.
- Provide SPECIFIC foods, not just food groups and State what the possible health risks are that are associated with your results.
- Use your text and course content to analyze your intake of ALL nutrients. See APA referencing format.
Example: I was deficient in my calcium intake. I ate only 60% of my Target for calcium. I did not consume enough high calcium foods such as almond milk (Understanding nutrition pg. 403) or vegetables such as broccoli into my meals to increase the amount of calcium. If I do not consume enough calcium I could lose calcium from my bones causing osteoporosis in the future (Understanding Nutrition, pg. 404). I am lactose intolerant so it’s difficult for me to get in enough calcium but, I could use soy and lactose free cheese since those are high calcium foods (Choosemy plate.gov, Dairy) I like to eat.
3. Physical Activity Report (10 pts possible)
Review your Physical Activity report and refer to the chapters in your text book on Energy Balance, Weight Management and Fitness to assist you in analyzing your physical activity. Use citations from your textbook to validate your responses. Include the following in your analysis.
- Summarize and assess the MIE data from your report. Be specific.
- What is the impact your current level of physical activity may have on your health over both the short term and long term?
- State how you could improve your activity level if you are under. If you meet or are over your MIE, state the long term benefits you will gain from your current activity.
- State future fitness goals.
- Include references to support your statements.
Example: My current activity based on my Physical Activity Report shows that my MIE is 60 MIEs. My goal is 150 MIEs. I need to include more moderate intensity activity to meet my goal of 150 MIEs per week. I also did not do any Muscle-Strengthing activities. I have been walking three times a week for 80 minutes but at a low intensity. I can increase my intensity by walking faster and including at least one more day a week into my activity schedule. I can include more muscle strengthening activities two days a week by lifting light weights for 15 minutes or gardening for 1 hour.
Increasing my intensity of walking will include aerobic activity. Aerobic activity can improve cardiorespiratory endurance (Understanding Nutrition, pg.442.) Muscle strengthening activity can improve bone mass. (Understanding Nutrition, pg 443.)
Below are two examples of the assignment. Please be VERY careful to write YOUR assessments in your own words.
Turnitin tools will be used to check for plagiarism and a zero (0) will be given if your work is not your own.
EXAMPLE ASSIGNMENT 1
EXAMPLE ASSIGNMENT 2
Step 4: Submit Assignment
Once completed, you will submit the whole assignment online in D2L in the Choose My Plate Assignment folder. This folder can be found under the “Assignments” tab at the top of the course home page. All of the following information should be included in your submission.
You will combine all of the following reports and written assessments in ONE document. Multiple documents will not be accepted. See video HERE for instructions on combining all reports into one document.
CHECKLIST:
1. Cover Sheet: APA formatted.(You do not need Abstract)
3. Supertracker Three Day Average Data reports (From Step 2):
Food groups and Calories
Nutrients
Week Average Physical Activity.
4. Written Analysis of each report based on above requirements.
5. Reference List: (APA formatted)
You will submit on OR before the assigned due date found in the Course Schedule of the SYLLABUS.
***UNDER NO UNCERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES WILL ANY WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT BE ACCEPTED VIA EMAIL. IF YOU WISH FOR YOUR ASSIGNMENT TO BE GRADED THEN IT MUST BE SUBMITTED IN THE ASSIGNMENTS FOLDER.***

- Appropriate Vocabulary: Articulates appropriate vocabulary and terms associated with the subject matter. Use terms specific to this nutrition topic.
Failure to comply with the above requirements will result in a reduction in points.
Notes About Referencing in APA format
All of the following material was quoted from the OWL Purdue website.
Examples of in-text citation formating
See APA format videos to assist you with formatting.
In-text referencing:
Example:
I was deficient in my calcium intake. I ate only 60% of my Target for calcium. I did not consume enough foods rich in calcium. I am lactose intolerant, so it’s difficult for me to get in enough calcium but, I could drink soy or almond milk in place of regular cow’s milk (Dairy, What foods are included in the dairy group?, Choose My Plate, n.d.) or vegetables such as broccoli into my meals to increase the amount of calcium (Grosvenor & Smolin 2012, pg. 282). If I do not consume enough calcium I could lose calcium from my bones causing osteoporosis in the future (Grosvenor & Smolin 2012, pg. 279).
Short Quotations
According to Jones (1998), “Students often had difficulty using APA style, especially when it was their first time” (p. 199).
Jones (1998) found “students often had difficulty using APA style” (p. 199); what implications does this have for teachers?
According to USDA Choose My Plate, fruits are beneficial to diet and health by providing essential nutrients such as potassium and fiber (Fruits, All about the fruit group section, para. 3 & 4).
Long Text Quotations
Jones’s (1998) study found the following:Students often had difficulty using APA style, especially when it was their first time citing sources. This difficulty could be attributed to the fact that many students failed to purchase a style manual or to ask their teacher for help. (p. 199)
Summary or Paraphrase
According to Jones (1998), APA style is a difficult citation format for first-time learners.

In some instances there will be a plethora of information and you must use skilled writing to maintain proper page count. Please keep in mind that this is doctoral level analysis and writing – you are to take the hard-earned road – the road less travelled – the scholarly road in forming your paper. The paper must use current APA style, and the page count does not include the title page, abstract, reference section, or any extra material. The minimum elements of the paper are listed above. You must use the following sources: • At least 8 recent, peer reviewed sources: some countries may have more recent research articles than others • 2 verses/citations from the Holy Bible • 1 newspaper article • Books may be used but are considered “additional: sources beyond the stated minimums. • You may use .gov sources as your recent, relevant, and academic sources as long as the writing is academic in nature (authored works). Again, this paper must reflect graduate level research and writing style. If you need to go over the maximum page count you must obtain professor permission in advance!
