Work #2:

Discussion Board – Antitrust Regulation

Antitrust regulation is designed to increase competition by eliminating attempts to monopolize an industry (other than through better products or better management) as well as by attacking certain patterns of illegal conduct (i.e. price fixing and exclusionary contracts that foreclose competitor business). For this forum, discuss your belief on “tech giants” violating antitrust laws. Do you feel Facebook, Google, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft etc. are in violation of such antitrust regulation?

Qualitative Article

 Topic: Health Sector

You will review both quantitative and qualitative research.  The topic is up to you as long as you choose a peer-reviewed, academic research piece.  I suggest choosing a topic that is at least in the same family as your expected dissertation topic so that you can start viewing what is out there. There are no hard word counts or page requirements as long as you cover the basic guidelines.  You must submit original work, however,  and a paper that returns as a large percentage of copy/paste to other sources will not be accepted.  (Safe Assign will be used to track/monitor your submission for plagiarism.)

Please use APA formatting and include the following information:

  • Introduction/Background:  Provide context for the research article.  What led the author(s) to write the piece? What key concepts were explored? Were there weaknesses in prior research that led the author to the current hypothesis or research question?
  • Methodology:  Describe how the data was gathered and analyzed.  What research questions or hypotheses were the researcher trying to explore? What statistical analysis was used?
  • Study Findings and Results:  What were the major findings from the study? Were there any limitations?
  • Conclusions:  Evaluate the article in terms of significance, research methods, readability and the implications of the results.  Does the piece lead into further study? Are there different methods you would have chosen based on what you read? What are the strengths and weaknesses of the article in terms of statistical analysis and application? (This is where a large part of the rubric is covered.)

MGMT 4470

Your team will create a virtual presentation describing a leader and analysis of the leader’s style. This narrated presentation should be composed using presentation slide software (PowerPoint, Google Slides, Prezi, etc) that highlight the main points (please do not overcrowd the slide with text; reading directly from the slide is a no-no). The recorded presentation will be upload to Canvas by the team leader (only 1 submission per team). The record presentation should reflect what would be presented in a live presentation to the class. At minimum, there should be at least 8 slides to support your presentation. The record should be no longer than 7 minutes.

Format and grading: Select a current leader or historical figure who is a leader in politics, business, or other fields in the public sphere. Post in the designated discussion board your team’s selected leader as there should be duplicate leaders (i.e. your team should not select the same leader as another team).

Research the leader through media reporting services such as news magazines, business magazines, trade magazines, and newspapers or historical documentation in books. Also appropriate is web resources, but these should be used along with other sources and should be cited appropriately. The presentation will include the following sections:

(a)   A brief description of the leader’s background including information regarding family history, education, and career.

(b)  An analysis of the leadership style for your leader using concepts from our course.

(c)   Discuss opinions about what traits, behaviors, leadership styles led to success and/or failure.

(d)  The last slide of the presentation should include a list of the references used to create your presentation in either APA style, 7th edition format.

Grading Criteria: The team will be graded on the depth of research, the thoughtfulness of analysis and appropriate use of course concepts, the clarity and organization of the presentation, providing appropriate citations.

mad research paper

Risk management is one of the most important components in empowering an organization to achieve its ultimate vision. With proper risk management culture and knowledge, team members will be “speaking” the same language, and they will leverage common analytical abilities to identify and mitigate potential risks as well as exploit opportunities in a timely fashion. In order to consolidate efforts, the existence of an integrated framework is crucial.

This is why an ERM is necessary to the fulfillment of any organization’s goals and objectives. In your final research project for the course, your task is to write a 7-10 page paper discussing the following concepts:

  • Introduction – What is an ERM?
  • Why Should an Organization Implement an ERM Application?
  • What are some Key Challenges and Solutions to Implementing an ERM?
  • What is Important for an Effective ERM?
  • Discuss at least one real organization that has been effective with implementing an ERM framework/application.
  • Conclusion – Final thoughts/future research/recommendation

The paper needs to be approximately 7-10 pages long, including both a title page and a references page (for a total of 9-12 pages). Be sure to use proper APA formatting and citations to avoid plagiarism.

Your paper should meet the following requirements:

  • Be approximately seven to ten pages in length, not including the required cover page and reference page.
  • Follow APA7 guidelines. Your paper should include an introduction, a body with fully developed content, and a conclusion.
  • Support your answers with the readings from the course, the course textbook, and at least FIVE scholarly journal articles to support your positions, claims, and observations, in addition to your textbook. The UC Library is a great place to find supplemental resources.
  • Be clearly and well-written, concise, and logical, using excellent grammar and style techniques. You are being graded in part on the quality of your writing.

Chapter 14

Create a 6- to 8-slide SOAR Personal Diversity Analysis presentation incorporating aspects of your personal diversity values, beliefs, knowledge and worldviews. Use the following prompts to guide your presentation:

A SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis is a common framework used by organizational and business leaders to strategically evaluate and improve the impact, performance, and success of an organization from both an internal and external perspective. In contrast, a SOAR (Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations, and Results) analysis engages all components of an organization (including the individual level) to positively enhance and improve internal performance and productivity.

For this assignment, you will do a SOAR analysis to assess and highlight aspects of your individual identity, focusing on your personal diversity values, beliefs, knowledge, and worldviews.

Create a 6- to 8-slide SOAR Personal Diversity Analysis presentation incorporating aspects of your personal diversity values, beliefs, knowledge and worldviews. Use the following prompts to guide your presentation:

Strengths

  • What makes you unique?
  • What diverse aspects of your identity do you value?
  • How do you view diversity as a strength?
  • How do you view inclusion as a strength?

Opportunities

  • What are 3 ways in which you can further engage or explore aspects of your personal diversity?
  • What are aspects of your family background or heritage that you can learn more about?
  • What is a diversity challenge about yourself that you can change into an opportunity?

Aspirations

  • Are there aspects of your cultural identity that you would like to improve or expand?
  • Are there stereotypes, prejudices, or generalizations that others hold about aspects of your cultural diversity that you wish they better understood?

Results

  • Are there individual factors about yourself that could improve as a result of an increased understanding of diversity and inclusion?
  • Are there aspects of your workplace environment that can improve as a result of an increased understanding or appreciation for diversity and inclusion?
  • What resources are needed to improve any of the above results?

Include pictures and/or graphics to visually enhance your presentation and illustrate the four components of the SOAR Diversity Analysis.

Research Paper Political Science

You must create a court system for the newly created state of Puerto Rico. You are to work under the assumption that Puerto Rico has just been admitted as the 51st state and build your court system from the bottom up. To be certain you understand how courts are organized in other states, you must research at least three current state court systems, within the United States, and use those systems to create Puerto Rico’s system. Do not use Puerto Rico’s current system as one of your examples. You must describe your proposal for creating Puerto Rico’s municipal courts, major trial courts, appellate courts, and the state’s highest court. Include geographic jurisdictions.

You must also describe how judges will be chosen for each court and must discuss how judicial and attorney ethical standards will be structured and enforced. You should conduct basic research on Puerto Rico (size, geography, population, existing counties or municipios, etc.) to be certain your proposed system will actually work.

Remember to provide citations when you borrow some idea or structure from another state.

The body (not including cover page, works cited/bibliography, etc.) of the paper must be 10-12 pages in length, double spaced, using Times New Roman 12-point font. A works cited page or bibliography (depending on the citation system used) must be included. Submitting too many pages will have the same result as submitting too few pages. Any images, charts, etc., used in the paper should be submitted as exhibits and are not included in the page count requirement.

Unit IVProject Disaster Recovery The purpose for this Unit IV Project is to describe how emergency management has changed over the last 20 years in your community with both preparation and technological advancements. Be sure to identify your local community. Compare those changes over the years to that of the post-Katrina era. For this assignment, you are to take photographs of your local community (e.g., governmental or nongovernmental organizations, railyards, firehouses, police departments) so that you can show what your area has done to address the issue of a disaster. Using what you learned about your community and what you learned about past disasters from Units III and IV, write a report concerning your community’s disaster organization plans and addresses the points listed below. Explain how either governmental or nongovernmental organizations were or are able to use technology in order to plan for future disasters.

Explain who conducted these efforts from a governmental or nongovernmental agency and the vulnerabilities they faced in their community, and include the role these individuals or groups played with mitigating, responding, and/or recovering from the risk.

Examine the causes and recovery efforts of at least one past disaster that either occurred in your community or that you have researched.

Explain the causes and contributing factors of this disaster. Examine the vulnerability in a larger context. Considering past disasters, either in your community or surrounding areas, do you feel that your community has done enough to prevent future disasters? Why, or why not? What recommendations can you offer to your community to address future risks? Consider future tasks that are associated with the governmental or nongovernmental agency, and use that information to help you explain how your community may be vulnerable to future disasters and emergencies.

Discuss the documentation (e.g., policies, procedures) in place to mitigate the future hazards. Your paper should be a minimum of four pages in length, not counting the title and reference pages (title and reference pages do not count toward meeting the minimum page requirement).

You are required to use a minimum of three outside sources for your assignment; at least one should be from the Waldorf Online Library. You should also use your textbook as a source. All sources, including the textbook, must be cited and referenced according to APA Style guidelines. Additionally, include at least four visual aids/images that support your content. Clear captions and citations should be inserted into the same Word document. Adhere to APA Style when constructing this assignment, including a title page and in-text citations and references for all sources that are used. However, no abstract is required.

Hypothesis Testing DQ

Hypothesis testing is used in business to test assumptions and theories. These assumptions are tested against evidence provided by actual, observed data. A statistical hypothesis is a statement about the value of a population parameter that we are interested in. Hypothesis testing is a process followed to arrive at a decision between 2 competing, mutually exclusive, collective exhaustive statements about the parameter’s value.

Consider the following scenario: An industrial seller of grass seeds packages its product in 50-pound bags. A customer has recently filed a complained alleging that the bags are underfilled. A production manager randomly samples a batch and measures the following weights:

Weight, (lbs)

45.6     49.5

47.7     46.7

47.6     48.8

50.5     48.6

50.2     51.5

46.9     50.2

47.8     49.9

49.3     49.8

53.1     49.3

49.5     50.1

To determine whether the bags are indeed being underfilled by the machinery, the manager must conduct a test of mean with a significance level α = 0.05.

In a minimum of 175 words, respond to the following:

  • State appropriate null (Ho) and alternative (H1) hypotheses.
  • What is the critical value if we work with a significant level α = 0.05?
  • What is the decision rule?
  • Calculate the test statistic.
  • Are the bags indeed being underfilled?
  • Should machinery be recalibrated?
