Paper B

Paper B: a matrix mapping of a key IT-related organizational (or personal) ethical issue concerning privacy and organizational policy designed to correct the ethical issue.

The first step of this assignment is an opportunity to analyze a key IT-related organizational (or personal, if you are not in the job force) ethical issue, related to privacy, subject to relevant laws, regulations, and policies.  Both of the following sites provide sources, and an excellent backdrop for issues relating to privacy protection and the law.

See EPIC Privacy Issues at:  http://epic.org/privacy/  See List on left and/or:  EFF Privacy at https://www.eff.org/issues/privacy  [see list below in center on this page].

This includes sub-topics discussing information privacy, privacy laws, applications and court rulings (case law is usually an extension of the basic law based on the facts from specific cases and real-world court decisions), and key privacy and anonymity issues. While the sites provide many interesting topics, be sure to focus on our class IT topics.

  1. Use the template below and the list of suggested workforce privacy topics from one of the sites above to produce a matrix to map a key organizational ethical (or personal, if not in the job force) issue and how this issue is affected by laws, regulations, and policies.  Use the list of normative ethics below to help you complete the matrix. Choose any three (only three) of the following list of twelve (12) principles of normative ethics described below.
  2. Prepare the Ethical Issue matrix (single-space in the cells) and include the following explanation (200 words) —double-space your narrative—below the matrix:
    1. Why I chose the dilemma;
    2. Why I chose the three principles; and
    3. An analysis of the research used to identify the actions in the matrix.

The completed matrix allows you to weigh the different issues involved and assign a rank as to the importance of the actions based on the effect on the stakeholders.

  1. Indicate appropriate APA in-text and source citations for all sources.  In addition to critical thinking and analysis skills, your assignment should reflect appropriate grammar and spelling, good organization, and proper business-writing style.

Normative Ethics List

Autonomy: is the duty to maximize the individual’s right to make his or her own decisions.

Beneficence: is the duty to do good both individually and for all.

Confidentiality: is the duty to respect privacy of information and action.

Equality: is the duty to view all people as moral equals.

Finality: is the duty to take action that may override the demands of law, religion, and social customs.

Justice: is the duty to treat all fairly, distributing the risks and benefits equally.

Non-maleficence: is the duty to cause no harm, both individually and for all.

Understanding/Tolerance: is the duty to understand and to accept another viewpoint if reason dictates doing so is warranted.

Publicity: is the duty to take actions based on ethical standards that must be known and recognized by all who are involved.

Respect for persons: is the duty to honor others, their rights, and their responsibilities. Showing respect others implies that we do not treat them as a mere means to our end.

Universality: is the duty to take actions that hold for everyone, regardless of time, place, or people involved. This concept is similar to the Categorical Imperative.

Veracity: is the duty to tell the truth.

A sample template for the matrix is shown below.  To reconstruct the sample template, you may use the Table Tool in MS Word or copy and paste this template.

Step 1:  Identify the ethical issue that you want to analyze, as described above. An example might be the falsification of your personal profile in a social networking site.

Step 2: Identify the stakeholders involved. You, someone who reads your personal profile in a social network site, potential employers, etc.  Be sure that each stakeholder category is unique and not similar to another category you use.

Step 3:  Choose any three (only three) of the Normative Ethics principles that might apply to your issue such as autonomy, publicity, and veracity.

Step 4: Identify how the ethical issue affects each stakeholder based on the principles you identified. Put this statement in the matrix next to the stakeholder.

Sample Completed Matrix

Ethical issue: falsifying  your profile on a social networking site

Stakeholders

autonomy

publicity

veracity

1: Yourself

You have the duty to maximize the right to make your own decisions.

You have the duty to take actions based on ethical standards that must be known and recognized by all who are involved.

You have the duty to tell the truth

2: Other users of the networking site

They have the duty to make their own decisions

They make these decisions based on ethical standards that should be recognized by the person falsifying their profile

They assume that the person falsifying the profile has the duty to tell the truth.

3: The social networking site

The autonomy of the site is limited by law (Goldman, 2007)

Users of social networking sites are content publishers, as such the site must take actions based on legal and ethical standards and must notify users of these standards so they are known by all.

As providers of content the site must conform to the laws regarding truth or be held responsible for legal issues as defamation (making harmful false statements about someone else) or copyright infringement. (Goldman, 2007)

The second step of this assignment requires that you write an organizational policy (or personal policy, if you are not in the job force) to correct the IT-related ethical issue that you had previously described, where you mapped a key organizational or personal issue and identified how the digital ethical issue was affected by relevant laws, regulations, and policies.

The following elements must be addressed:

You may take a look at other policies to see how they are written. While the following site:   https://www.sans.org/information-security-policy/?msc=securityresourceslp – For other possible SANS resources,  go to the home page: https://www.sans.org/ and click on the free resource link which provides credible examples of templates for policies, an Internet search may provide other templates, however there is no need to copy a template for this assignment, as the template should only be utilized to provide guidance regarding the following headings.

Your policy should include appropriate information for the following major headings:

  • Overview of the policy – an Introduction
  • Purpose of the policy – the aim of the policy
  • Scope (roles and responsibilities of stakeholders) – who is involved in policy execution.
  • Policy Points to follow – (Note: you should be aware that a policy only describes “what,” the staff of an organization will do, while a procedure describes “how,” the staff of an organization will accomplish a required action. As a result, this section should only discuss the specific measures, needs, or changes to behavior within the organization in terms of policy points, i.e., what they must do to conform to the policy. Any procedures that are needed to assist in doing the “what,” are usually included by reference later in the policyprocedures should not be included in the policy points).
  • Sanctions/enforcement of policy – what happens in case of non-compliance

This assignment requires a minimum of three external references. Indicate appropriate APA source citations for all sources you use.

In addition to critical thinking and analysis skills, your paper should reflect appropriate grammar and spelling, good organization, and proper business-writing style.

Prepare a 4-6 page, double-spaced paper with your Ethical Matrix and your Organizational or Personal Policy (if not in the job force).

Please submit your Paper B to the LEO Assignments Module as an attached Microsoft Word file. Paper B is due at the end of the fourth week of this course. Include a Cover Page with your Name, the UMGC/Name of the Class, and the Title of the Paper.

SLS Project

This is an elaboration on instructions to complete this project which is aforementioned on pages 2 & 4. As an overview the project is designed to be a goal preparing you for a career. Therefore, all aspects of this project are to be written in a futuristic sense. For example your resume might be dated 01 /20/ 2025 and outline your projected academic and professional background. Your cover letter would explain how your education and experience make you a desirable candidate for the position or objective desired in your resume. Thus, it would also be dated in the future. The first section of the project (Career Research ) will require a minimum of 2 pages double spaced with statistics, analysis, insights, alleducational requirements, projected employment trends and other pertinent information

(550 words ) in your chosen career field. For example, if your career field is teaching, you might address educational requirements, pros and cons, salary, areas of need, what a typical day entails, future trends, etc. A particularly good website for this information as listed in the above mentioned library guide on pg. 4 is a government website in the MDC data bank “ Occupational Handbook”. This Career Researchsection should include at least 2 sources. The second section of the project will require a cover letter. A cover letter is a personal letter aimed at separating you from your competition by highlighting your personal qualities that make you a great candidate for the job. For example your life long passion for nursing or teaching. Your personal qualities such as passion, work ethic, integrity, honesty, perseverance. The letter should be about of a third of a page and unlike the resume which is factual, this is more about your personal qualities and aspirations. Address it to the hiring person and close thanking the person in some capacity for their consideration. Manners are very important. This section as well all the sections are addressed with examples and considerable information at libraryguides.mdc.edu  “ Careers section”, ( Prof. Brian Scanlon/SLS 1106 First Year Experience Seminar ). The third section of the project will be the resume. It would be your updated resume based upon your future goals and what you expect to accomplish down the road. It should have an aim or objective, education, experience, community service and references. Again this can be hypothetical based upon what you expect to accomplish in the next 5 years.  Resumes generally are about 1 page. The final section of this project is Job Interview preparation. Please submit 10 questions and 10 answers in preparation for a job interview in your chosen field. Five of the questions should relate to your professional and technical knowledge in your field and the other 5 would more address personality or character based questions. The answers are expected to be at least 2 full sentences in length. Thus, this section might be up to 2 pages of work, but at least a full page. To reiterate, this is a goal orientated futuristic project and should be completed in that fashion. Please submit this project on time and preferably in a word document.

1 – Organizational Behavior Section of Onboarding Playbook

Scenario

Individual behaviors in the workplace impact an organization, and leadership should understand its impact on an organization as a foundation for creating strategies in effectively leading. In this scenario, a technology company has been struggling with sales recently, and leadership believes developing new, in-demand products will increase business. The administration determined that hiring product and market development specialists will be necessary. The new talent will assist current software developers, taking over some of their responsibilities with new products. The company’s talent acquisition team has indicated that the newly hired talent onboarding activities will require current software developers to get them up to speed. Overall, the developers are not happy with the decision to have the new talent take over some of their responsibilities, even though they do feel overwhelmed with current workloads. They are not looking forward to training new employees either, even actively resisting this process. As part of the talent acquisition team, you have been asked to complete a section for the onboarding playbook for new employees. The section you have been asked to complete is the section on organizational behavior.

Instructions

Develop a 2-3-page organizational behavior section of the onboarding playbook for all new employees that:

  • clearly Explains the three levels of organizational behavior (OB) and their importance for leaders to understand. Use 3 examples.
  • Describes the four behavioral science disciplines that inform leadership’s understanding of organizational behavior. Include examples of each discipline
  • Details the personal factors that influence individual behaviors and the organization. Use through examples of each factor. Use examples of each
  • Discusses managers’ challenges and opportunities in applying OB concepts.
  • Uses examples to support understanding of concepts in a well-defined organizational behavior section of the onboarding playbook.
  • Provides attribution for credible references used in the development of content ideas following academic guidelines.
  • As always, please keep in mind who your audience is and use correct grammar and spelling.
  • Use CREDIABLE references.

IF YOU CANT MEET THIS DEADLINE, DONT AGREE TO DO MY ASSIGNMENT. PRICE ISNT NEGOTIABLE. PLEASE READ GRADING RUBRIC. TEACHERS USE THE GRADING RUBRIC TO DETERMINE GRADE

Prior to beginning work on this assignment, review the Moving Upstream: How Interventions That Address the Social Determinants of Health Can Improve Health and Reduce Disparities (Links to an external site.) article, watch the Unnatural Causes: Place Matters (Links to an external site.) (30 min.) video and then, complete the written assignment.

For your assignment answer the following questions after watching the film, organize your assignment in a series of well-structured Body Paragraphs (Links to an external site.), making certain to address the following content in an order that effectively develops your ideas (do not use bullet points):

  • Summarize the Unnatural Causes: Place Matters
  • When we think about the environment, we usually think about air pollution, water quality, or toxic waste. What other things in our neighborhood environments might also affect our health?
  • How does the film support or contradict the neighborhood factors you listed in the Neighborhood Features Table harm or promote health? What other factors could you add?
  • Why do some neighborhoods expose residents to factors that are protective of health, while others expose residents to factors that can threaten their health?
  • What public policy and private investment decisions have shaped the two neighborhoods in the film?
  • What could be done to improve these neighborhoods in the future so they better promote residents’ health and wellbeing?
  • After watching the film, suggest additions or changes to the Place Matters Discussion in light of what you have just learned. Include features that protect and promote health and wellbeing (Positives), not only risk factors (Negatives).
    • Keep in mind that the Place Matters Discussion thread is the sum total of all student postings, not just the information you added. Therefore, you should suggest additions and changes to the table when viewed as a whole, not just to what you added to the table.
  • Explain, in detail, how the suggested additions or changes would improve the health of your neighborhood.

rape victims NEED PLAGERISM REPORT

A 20-year-old girl accuses her ex-boyfriend of raping her in a drunken rage. However, the prosecutor states that although he believes her story, there is simply not enough evidence to take the accused to trial and have a jury find him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The victim turns to a voluntary organization dealing with rape victims. The organization has assigned you the task of providing her with the available options. You need to give her the following details:

  • The legal rights of victims against perpetrators.
  • The current research and prevalence of these types of crimes.
  • The options available to the victim in the civil court.
  • How victim advocacy programs work.
  • Civil litigations for providing redress to victims.
  • Positive and negative effects of civil litigation on the lives of the victim.

In addition, you need to explain the following:

  • Define and explain the type of crime(s) committed.
  • What is the need for creating a constitutional amendment that assures a certain level of victims’ rights in all courts? In this scenario, were the rights of the victim violated?
  • Do we need to create an amendment to protect victims in this situation or are the victim’s rights already protected?
  • What are some of the rights that could be guaranteed to the victim in this case?
  • How would these rights affect or conflict with the rights of offenders in the system?
  • What are the psychological and financial impacts for victims in this type of situation?

Submission Details
