Evidence Synthesis and Tables

Purpose

The purpose of this assignment is to document sources of research evidence and non-research evidence that address a national practice problem, including the level and quality of each source of research evidence. A synthesis of the evidence is conducted to determine the overall strength and quality of the evidence. The development of an evidence table and synthesis are foundational to inform actions and decisions to improve practice outcomes. Construction of an evidence table and synthesis supports professional formation of the DNP-prepared nurse.

Surplus and Scarcity: two economic models

This is a Canvas assignment which means you’ll be responding by using a text box and only I and Maria Alberto will see your submission.

For this assignment, plan to write between 250 and 300 words. You can write your response separately and then cut and paste it into the text box if you prefer that.

The Miller and the Steward each tell stories involve exchanges and transactions, though not usually involving money. Still, you could think of the world of each story as representing a kind of non-monetary economy involving what the characters “invest” in one another and what they hope to receive in return, even though these transactions are not financial ones. Think about how each story treats the idea of “profit” even when financial gain is not at stake (particularly in the Miller’s Tale). Use 2-3 specific examples and short quotations from each tale to analyze the transactional world of each story and how these worlds differ from one another in how they define a successful transaction.

It may be helpful to think about how the “economy” of the Miller’s tale involves abundance and surplus while the Steward’s story takes place in an environment defined by scarcity and competition. The same is true for how both men talk about themselves in their introductions to their own stories. You could also think about the moral economy of the two very different worlds these storytellers create. Which of these worlds would you rather do business in?

Can Writing College Assignments Influence Your Future Career?

Believe it or not, assignment writing is an integral part of students, whether in middle school or college. Both essays and written assignments like theses or lab reports generally serve as a way for students to demonstrate their skills before reaching the next educational level or entering the workforce.

Still, writing is not something that sounds appealing or easy to everyone, albeit to open doors to a future career. Luckily, there are ways to overcome that fear, which we’ll explain below, along with the influence that writing assignments actually have on our future employment.

The Truth About Essays

Although you may have asked yourself more than once, can someone write my assignment for me, the most important thing is that you don’t panic beforehand. You have to be aware of what an essay is to know what you have to deal with.

An essay is, after all, a short written piece that focuses on presenting an argument. The word itself derived from Latin when it was called ‘exagium’, and it was first used as ‘Essai’ by Michel de Montaigne in the late 1500s. The meaning of the word itself can be summed up as presenting a case.

You are doing a written assignment such as an essay to present a specific point of view, capturing your content through analysis, research, and actionable ideas.

All this content has to be divided into three sections: the introduction, the body of your assignment to give an in-depth work of your idea, and the conclusion, which serves to convince the reader by bringing together all the information that has been discussed.

Why Do Assignments Impact Our Future Careers?

Writing assignments play an essential role not only in education but also in the professional environment. Students are required to demonstrate critical thinking, which reflects their positioning in the real world. This critical thinking speaks volumes about how a person can defend different arguments, take solid positions, and observe the current world’s perspectives.

Businesses and managers see these jobs as a comprehension of the materials. They want their candidates and employees to know different subjects such as languages, religion, or history. In fact, many students have decided to create a blog content to use it as a letter of introduction to themselves and their skills and knowledge.

If we add to it the value of grammar, basic writing skills, spelling, and communication, then it is clear how important it is to find a place in companies and the global economy.

How Students Should Deal with Written Assignments in Colleges

Many people see papers like essays as a considerable controversy, seeing it only as an outdated educational system tradition. Furthermore, if you consider the number of fields where writing is not essential, they only emphasize the disadvantage it has for students.

Many people don’t realize that there are new methods available today to help students take the weight off their shoulders and learn through new perspectives. And with the rise of professional writing services, new levels of education are being achieved that have never been reached before, all from the hands of experts in different subjects and topics.

This creates a positive curiosity among students in each class, which leads them to a deeper understanding that is tailored to their individual needs.

In Conclusion

Written assignments have always had a strong position in contemporary education, which cannot be taken away. To oppose essays, lab reports, or theses is a blow against students’ preparation for the world of work, where they will be asked to do much more than just write.

Thus, writing college assignments will always influence students’ future careers, although it is true that there is too much pressure on students today. Luckily there are these new online writing services, which perfectly match the needs of the new minds.

Evolution of School-wide Intervention Models Into Multi-tiered Systems of Support

Multi-tiered systems of support are based on the principle that all students can learn, especially when intervention begins early to address difficulties and is tailored to the individual needs of each student. MTSS are generally based on a triangular or pyramid model, with interventions becoming increasingly intensive as they get closer to the top point of the triangle. In other words, although multi-tiered models differ from each other in the number of tiers, the first, or base tier, typically includes the core curriculum and serves 80% of the students. Those needing more intense interventions may fluctuate between the remaining tiers, with those with the most significant needs rising to the top tier.

Two of the most common multi-tiered approaches, RtI and PBIS, have been espoused separately in the past but are beginning to be viewed together under the umbrella term of MTSS. Because these two school-wide intervention models have been adopted widely in school systems within the United States, it is important to understand how each evolved, the key aspects of each, and how they and other school-wide intervention models are integrated within an MTSS.

To prepare

  • Review the module Learning Resources. Consider how PBIS and RtI are integrated into an MTSS.
  • Conduct a search to locate at least three additional peer-reviewed resources on school-wide intervention models.
  • Conduct research on the integration of special education within an MTSS. Identify any gaps you find in the research.
  • Identify a school-wide intervention issue or challenge in your local district/school of interest to you, other than RtI or PBIS.

By Day 7 of Week 2

Compose a 4- to 6-page paper that includes the following three sections:

Section I: Integration of RtI in a Multi-tiered System of Support (MTSS)

  • Provide a brief history of the status of RtI in your state. (Flexibility in terminology is allowed for those outside the United States.)
  • Explain how RtI is integrated in an MTSS. What are the challenges of integrating RtI with an MTSS? Note: If RtI is being practiced in your local district/school, you may respond to this prompt from a local perspective.

Section II: Integration of PBIS in a Multi-tiered System of Support (MTSS)

  • Provide a brief history of the status of PBIS in your state.
  • Explain how PBIS is integrated in an MTSS. What are the challenges of integrating PBIS with an MTSS? Note: If PBIS is being used in your local district/school, you may respond to this prompt from a local perspective.

Section III: Relationship Between School-Wide Intervention Models and Multi-tiered Systems of Support

For this section, you will evaluate three school-wide intervention models: RtI, PBIS, and one other that you have researched.

  • Provide a summary of each model. Include the following in your summary:
    • Key ideas behind the model
    • Best practices associated with the model
    • Benefits and limitations
  • Evaluate whether each school-wide intervention model exemplifies best practices of an MTSS. Support your evaluation with specific references to the Learning Resources and outside resources.

For this Assignment and all others in this course and throughout the program, you will be expected to use APA style (7th ed.). Use the Walden Writing Center as a resource for completing Assignments.

Students must provide proper in-text (parenthetical) citations. Failure to cite paraphrased work or direct quotes, from the original work, thoughts and/or ideas of someone, other than your own, will result in an automatic 0, with no make-up work being accepted.

PART 1: Video Access and Viewing

The video you are required to watch will cover the notorious Texas execution case of Todd Willingham. In 2004, Cameron Todd Willingham was executed for the arson (fire) deaths of his three children. The initial investigation found 20 indicators of arson, pointing to his guilt. When science is included and they reexamine the evidence used to convict Willingham, no sign of arson was found. Did Texas potentially execute a man who was innocent?

The video is publicly accessible through PBS Frontline’s official website.  You can access the video by following the instructions provided below

PART 2: Video Reflection, Analysis and Submission Instructions
Write a reflective analysis of crime, justice and punishment under application of the Death Penalty, in Texas, based on application of what you learned from the Todd Willingham Case Video.

Write an essay that addresses each of prompt’s 2 components, Issue Position and Explanation and Application, outlined below

Issue Position:

First, identify whether you are for, or against use of the death penalty as a form of criminal punishment (there is NO right or wrong answer). Successful completion of this assignment, and it’s learning objective, require your compliance in identification or your personal position, and perspective, towards the issue of the “death penalty”.  Responses are confidential and will be graded objectively, based on student’s independent, reflective analysis of their own individual personal perspectives,  and application of the information.

Explanation and Application

Then, Discuss, and describe, the nature of political debate, surrounding the issue of the death penalty, and explain how your personal position toward the issue has changed or been reinforced, with regard to application to crime, punishment and justice in Texas, based on what you learned from the movie.

Worth 10% of your final grade.

Module 01 Course Project – Compliance Plan

Module 01 Content

  1. The first step of in completing your course project is to choose two compliance plans from the list of compliance violation areas below.
    • Clinical staff members are not washing their hands between patients.
    • Employee attacks patients while under the influences of narcotics.
    • Nurse charges for Diabetes Management Education as a Physician Visit.
    • Medical staff members are not aware that the application of an initial cast for a broken limb should be included in the cost of the visit. Instead, they are charging extra for the application of this initial cast.
    • Employees are not knowledgeable in the use of fire extinguishers.
    • Many employees are not able to fulfill the requirement to discuss the facilities Mission Statement and Vision Statement.
    • After you choose two areas (only two!), write a paragraph about each one to present to your faculty member. In each paragraph, explain why you believe the chosen area represents key issues in compliance and why you want to develop a compliance plan for this area.

Remember, your faculty member must confirm your two compliance violation areas before you begin your research and writing. Most of you should be able to write about your preferred plan areas, but in some cases, to ensure that all areas are covered by class members, you may receive a different plan to write about. As soon as your selections are approved, begin your research on the Internet and at your college’s online library, which you can access through the Resources tab.

Pretests/Posttests and Attrition

This week’s video introduces you to the Hernandez family. Juan and Elena Hernandez are mandated to attend parenting classes. As part of the parenting classes, they are required to participate in both a pretest (taken before classes begin) and a posttest (taken after classes end). Pretests and posttests can yield very useful information. They can measure the learning that has or has not taken place as a result of the education being provided. For this Discussion, imagine what kinds of questions would be on a pretest and posttest for this particular study sample (the parents who are taking parenting classes).

Post your explanation of what you think the social workers wanted to know when they designed the pre/posttest for evaluating the parenting classes. Be sure to address the concept of attrition and whether or not you believe they took that into account. Be sure to explain why. Then, analyze potential lessons learned from attrition. Finally, explain how you might design a study to gather data about the effectiveness of these parenting classes. Use the following questions to focus your thinking:

  • Would you recommend a pre-experimental, experimental, or quasi-experimental design?
  • Would the study involve measurement over time?
  • Would there be a control group?
  • In this group research design you imagine, what or who will be compared?
  • What limitations in terms of generalizability and internal validity can you anticipate based on the research plan you envision?
  • What can you tell the social worker about the issue of client drop out (also called attrition or experimental mortality)?
  • If there is no control group, what type of research design could answer the question: Is this parent training class effective in reducing abusive parenting practices?

Please use the resources to support your answer.
