Toy Project Proposal Paper

Purpose: In lieu of a fina paper you will design and create a 4-6 page proposal to demonstrate your understanding of children’s cognitive development.  For this final project, you will design a new, unique toy, for children based on your research in the field of cognitive development. You will design this artifact around a specific topic which may include ANY THREE OF THESE; memory, language, perceptual development, social cognition, conservation, problem solving strategies or skills, mathematical, or scientific reasoning, and it can be for any age.

Introduction – You will begin with a brief review of the literature (Approximately 2-3 college length paragraphs). For this section I would like for you to cite 3-5 academic sources. These sources may include your textbook Children’s Thinking by David Bjorklund and/or articles/resources that you have found.  Your thesis statement should be an explicit statement about the purpose or goal of your activity.

Activity Design

1.  Subjects – this section should begin with the age group whom your artifact or program is designed for, and a short summary of where they are cognitively.

2.  Materials and Design – (you may wish to included a photo, graphic, or diagram here.)

3.  A description of how the activity or artifact works. How is it used? What does it do?

Expected Benefits of Your Program or Artifact

1.  How does this toy/activity help foster cognitive development?

2.  What makes it research-based?

Conclusion

Briefly summarize your proposal.  Conclude with a final statement about why parents/educators should utilize this activity or object.

The Role of the Registered Nurse (RN)/Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in Policy-Making

NOTE: 300 Words with 4 references.

Word cloud generators have become popular tools for meetings and team-building events. Groups or teams are asked to use these applications to input words they feel best describe their team or their role. A “word cloud” is generated by the application that makes prominent the most-used terms, offering an image of the common thinking among participants of that role.

What types of words would you use to build a nursing word cloud? Empathetic, organized, hard-working, or advocate would all certainly apply. Would you add policy-maker to your list? Do you think it would be a very prominent component of the word cloud?

Nursing has become one of the largest professions in the world, and as such, nurses have the potential to influence policy and politics on a global scale. When nurses influence the politics that improve the delivery of healthcare, they are ultimately advocating for their patients. Hence, policy-making has become an increasingly popular term among nurses as they recognize a moral and professional obligation to be engaged in healthcare legislation.

Question:

Post an explanation of three opportunities that exist for RNs and APRNs to actively participate in policy-making. Explain some of the challenges that these opportunities may present and describe how you might overcome these challenges. Finally, recommend two strategies you might make to better advocate for or communicate the existence of these opportunities to participate in policy-making. Be specific and provide examples.

3.1

Introduction

In July 2002, the National Strategy for Homeland Security report identified mission areas, established priorities for the coordination of domestic infrastructure, and developed the concept of homeland security. Within the National Strategy for Homeland Security report there are five areas of responsibilities or missions. identify the five areas of responsibilities and those agencies in charge of those responsibilities. You will also explain the roles of those agencies.

Initial Post Instructions

The Department of Homeland Security was created on November 25, 2002, with the implementation of the Department of Homeland Security Act of 2002. Identify the five areas of responsibility of Homeland Security, then, in your own words, identify the Homeland Security agencies that are in charge of those mission areas, and explain those agencies’ missions and roles. Be sure to reference facts and evidence from Chapter 5 of your textbook in your explanation.

3.2

Introduction

Within each state, the executive branch coordinates state-level homeland security initiatives. The governors of each state are the highest elected official for that state, and the governor, along with state administrative agencies, are in-charge of implementing homeland security policies and procedures during a state of emergency. Though each state has different bureaucratic responsibilities when implementing homeland security initiatives, the principal roles of the leaders and agencies are recurrent. In this activity you will explore state governors’ roles and responsibilities when responding to a state emergency.

Initial Post Instructions

Explain, in your own words, the state governors’ roles and responsibilities in homeland security and when responding to a state emergency. Ensure you reference a current or past state of emergency as a case study in your response. Be sure to reference facts and evidence from Chapter 7 of your textbook and any outside resources in your explanation.

Although typologies are widely used to create accurate profiles of violent offenders, especially serial and mass murderers, they usually do not lead to the immediate apprehension of a murderer. In fact in some cases, the use of typologies can lead to inaccurate profiles that can impede the identification and apprehension of a murderer. For example, many profilers incorrectly identified the D.C. Snipers as white males. Only after they were apprehended was it obvious that the vast majority of criminal profilers were wrong. The number of innocent lives that could have been saved had the race of the D.C. Snipers been correctly identified is unknown. Despite limitations, typologies are extremely useful to criminal profilers in attempting to create profiles of serial and mass murderers. Without typologies, profilers would be “shooting in the dark” when trying to identify the characteristics of murderers.

To prepare for this Discussion:

  • Reflect on the typologies you used in your Application this week.
  • Review Scientific American’s “5 Myths about Serial Killers and Why They Persist [Excerpt]”
  • Review the article “Serial Murder in America: Case Studies of Seven Offenders.” Reflect on the key limitations and criticisms of profiling serial murderers.
  • Review Chapter 7 of your course text, Profiling Violent Crimes: An Investigative Tool. Pay attention to the strengths and the shortcomings associated with profiling serial murderers.
  • Based on what you learned about profiling this week, identify at least one strength and one limitation of profiling to detect and apprehend serial and mass murderers.

Discussion board about difference in research methodologies

Recall in the Module 3 section titled, Differences in Research Methodologies, I described having all 3 research methodologies in my portfolio: Quantitative, Qualitative, and Mixed Methods. While you are not researchers (yet!), and therefore you may not have consciously considered this, we all have a philosophical perspective that guides our thoughts, beliefs, and values as we walk through this life. This means that how we view ‘reality’ or the world ‘out there’ will strongly influence the methods we choose to investigate it.
Reflecting on how you view the world will provide perspective on why you view the world as you do and yourself in it. Such introspection provides a model for social inquiry and, by extension, advanced nursing inquiry. Considering that it is not unusual for a researcher (or a non-researcher for that matter) to occupy a range of positions along the spectrum from Positivist to Pragmatist to Constructivist, where would you place yourself on that continuum? How do you know? What real-world examples lead you to this conclusion? As a result of critically reflecting on your beliefs and values, which is intended to lead us to a better understanding of self, which research methodology would you be drawn to as a nurse researcher and why? Why is this process of self-discovery an important leg of your journey of learning in this course?
As you are engaging in this process of reflection, please do not restate the questions in your response post but rather weave your answers into a scholarly narrative. Also as FYI, references are never required when you are self-reflecting… 😉 Dr. R.

Question :

Entrepreneurship

Matt Grant Case Study

Read the Matt Grant case–.pdf file. Complete a 3-5 page case analysis that includes an introduction and conclusion, and answers the following:

  1. Should Matt Grant pursue this opportunity? Why or why not? What are some of the critical challenges that he may encounter if he does push forward with his plan?
  2. Does Matt have the background and skills required to make the Racer’s Resource a success?
  3. Starting a new venture is almost always a risky undertaking. In addition to the financial and opportunity costs, entrepreneurship can also affect—for better or for worse—personal relationships and career trajectories. Discuss this dynamic in the context of this case.
  4. What else could Matt have done to research this opportunity?
  5. Examine the growth plan and upside potential of this venture. As an investor, would you take advantage of the Racer’s Resource offering?

Make sure paper body starts with a summary where there is a statement of thesis (overview of the points to be made), continues with a discussion (or specific answers to specific questions), and ends with a conclusion. The five specific questions should be annotated and have specific answers. Please double space—it’s easier for the grader to make comments.

All papers should be written in the third person (he, he, it, and they). Make every effort not to shift to second person (you, your) as in, “When starting a company you need money.” Try to avoid shifting to the first person (I, we) as well. It is distracting to the reader and bad style to shift persons in a paper—students often do it in the middle of a sentence.

The requirements below must be met for your paper to be accepted and graded:

  • Write between 750 – 1,250 words (approximately 3 – 5 pages) using Microsoft Word in APA style, see example and template below.
  • Use font size 12 and 1” margins.
  • Include cover page and reference page.
  • At least 80% of your paper must be original content/writing.
  • No more than 20% of your content/information may come from references.
  • Use at least three references from outside the course material (scholarly journals found in EBSCOhost, CNN, online newspapers, government websites)
  • Cite all reference material (data, dates, graphs, quotes, paraphrased words, values, etc.) in the paper and list on a reference page in APA style.

Week 4 final essay english composition

Week 4 – Researched Argumentative Essay – Final SubmissionIt is time to complete your final assignment for this course. Demonstrate your mastery over academic research, argumentative writing, appropriate grammar and style, and your understanding of rhetorical modes as you complete this final assignment.Final Paper Weight: 20%
Due Date: Sunday of Week 4Consider using the  Keiser OWL How to Submit Papers to the OWL – Alternative Formats . Submit your paper to the OWL by Wednesday. You may also use your local campus Writing Studio.DIRECTIONSNow that you have created a thorough outline, you should continue to expand the outline into an essay format using proper APA style. Additionally, you will need to show competency in constructing a research-based argumentative piece of writing.  To meet that goal, you will need to meet the following requirements:

  • Demonstrate critical thinking and critical analysis skills, including your use of a research based argumentation
  • Write between 1,000 – 1,200 words
    • Papers that do not meet at least 1,000 words are subject to a pro-rated penalty. (i.e. submitting 800 words would result in a 20% loss of grade as 20% of the paper’s word requirements were not met)
    • No abstract is needed for your paper. However, an APA formatted cover page and reference list is required.
  • Effectively organize your essay. Write a clear introduction, thesis statement, multiple body paragraphs supporting the thesis statement, a paragraph that develops a counterpoint, and a clear conclusion. Do not use labels or subheadings. Transition words should help the reader navigate your essay. The thesis should be the final statement (one sentence) in your introduction with supporting elements for your claim. Reminder: You are not “adopting” or copyting the argument of your sources. Please review the live sessions. The purpose of the final essay is for the student to reveal his/her position on a topic associated with the academic major.
  • Note: The research should not “overshadow” the argument of the student. Your entire essay cannot be based upon a “collection” or summary of the research, as your argument would be 100% based on the sources. Again, review the live sessions for support.
  • Use at least four sources.
    • Using a source means quoting, paraphrasing, and/or summarizing it, including a citation each time it is being used.
    • Reference each source you use in your reference list.
    • You should use the following sources:
      • Three peer-reviewed academic journal sources from Keiser’s e-Library
      • At least one additional credible journal source, 2016-present, which may include the e-Library, or another reputable location such as Gale, InfoTrac
      • Additional sources are optional. Please try not to use more than four “approved” sources.
      • Contact your instructor if you are unsure as to whether a source will count towards the requirements. Again, peer-reviewed journal sources, 2016-present, are required for this essay. Review the live sessions for

REQUIREMENTS

  • You should use 7th edition APA (No abstract is needed for APA 7 student papers).
