Weeks 5 and 6: Analyzing Spreadsheet Data

For this project you will be analyzing data utilizing a spreadsheet software package. The purpose of this project is to enhance and then highlight your skills at analyzing a database utilizing a spreadsheet program. This week you are supplied with one Excel Workbook that has three different databases for you to analyze (see attachments below) To get started, download this workbook and save it on your computer. These tasks require you to reorganize data, build charts and tables, and then explain what the data is telling you. If your spreadsheet skills are at all rusty, it may be beneficial to go into the Content Section and review some of the PowerPoint Presentations, videos, and GCFLearnFree materials prior to getting started.

Start by downloading and saving the databases from the hyperlink below to your computer. Database 1 will be used for Jobs 1 through 4, Database 2 for Jobs 5 and 6, and Database 3 for Job 7. There are complete instructions inside the Workbook you will download, however, here is a short description of each Job you will be completing over the next two weeks:

  • Job 1: Reorganize data by month, analyze, and report on your findings. The first worksheet tab is labeled “Database 1 & Instructions” Average Temperatures for Washington DC 1990 – 2001. Use the data in this first tab to complete Jobs 1 – 4. You will first sort the data by month and create a table and a line chart of the average temperatures by month. Complete instructions for this project are located in the Workbook under the Raw Database 1 tab. There is a Help Video video included in the Content Section (Readings and Resources) section for weeks 5 & 6 (Video 1) that explains how to sort data and use a formula to obtain averages.
  • Job 2: Analyze the same data you used in Job 1, but reorganize the data by year. In this Job, you will create a table and line chart using the annual data. Complete instructions are on the first tab marked “Database 1 & Instructions”
  • Job 3: Create a histogram of the data in Database 1. Use the same Database; there are instructions for this project on that first worksheet tab. If you have not created a histogram before, there is a short video in the Content section that can help you get started.
  • Job 4: Create a Pivot Table. Use the same database 1 to create a Pivot Table of the maximum monthly data by year. The Pivot table is an excellent way to give a visual representation of summarized data. Finally, you are asked to explain any trends you see in your table. There is a Training video included in the Content section for weeks 5 & 6 labeled Video 2
  • Jobs 5 & 6: Create Pivot Tables. For these two projects you will use data found on the worksheet tab marked “Raw Database 2 & Instructions.” Here you will create two different pivot tables that analyse first by counts and then by the average price by region.
  • Job 7: Create a Pareto Analysis. In this final project, you will use the data on the Worksheet tab marked “Database 3 & Instructions.” The database on this page contains the suppliers, products, and order size for the Month of September. You will be creating and then answering questions regarding two Pareto charts that you will create. There are instructions in the tab Marked “Database 3” For how to create a Pareto chart. There is a YouTube video included in the content section under weeks 5 & 6 to help you through creating a Pareto analysis. There are also detailed instructions for how to create a Pareto Analysis on the Database 3 page.

Remember to save your work often. By Sunday midnight of week 6 submit one Excel Workbook that includes all seven jobs. Use the naming convention: JSmith_Weeks 5&6_Project7

Project 3:  Business Plan Review

Due in Week 6

Project Purpose

In this project, you will write the beginning sections of a business plan that can be used to solicit investors or financing for the new business.

The purpose of this assignment is to develop the critical thinking and entrepreneurial mindset necessary to translate the idea into a money-making business. Along with critical thinking skills, you will develop research, communication and data evaluation skills.

Outcomes You Will Meet by Completing This Project:

  • apply the basic steps involved in developing a comprehensive business plan for both starting and operating a business by creating your own business plan
  • describe and explain the environments that businesses operate in—social, economic, political, technological, environmental and legal
  • develop your business vocabulary and knowledge of concepts, trends, and current issues by applying them in all course work
  • demonstrate the use of software and Internet sources by researching and planning the start-up and operation of your business
  • demonstrate the use of a marketing assessment process to develop a marketing plan and a marketing strategy

NOTE: All submitted work is to be your original work. You may not use any work from another student, the Internet or an online clearinghouse.  You are expected to understand the Academic Dishonesty and Plagiarism Policy, and know that it is your responsibility to learn about instructor and general academic expectations with regard to proper citation of sources as specified in the APA Publication Manual, 7th Ed. (Students are held accountable for in-text citations and an associated reference list only).

Instructions

Begin to Write the Business Plan

Use the business idea chosen in Project One and the plan format used starting Week 4, (Writing a Business Plan for a New Venture), complete the following Business Plan Sections:

  • Business Description
  • Market Analysis
  • Competitor Assessment
  • Marketing Plan

Research:

Online research is needed to successfully complete this project. The research will be graded as a separate element so make sure you select credible data sources. The information retrieved from the research in the Action Plan is a good place to start but more depth is required to complete this assignment. Course material and research should be used to support all conclusions. APA in-text citations and reference list are required.

Instructor Feedback:

You will receive feedback from your instruction on this project.  You will then use that feedback to make revisions and submit the revisions as part of Project 4.  Points will be awarded in Project Four based on the revisions made.

Review the Paper

Read the paper to ensure all required elements are present.  Use the grading rubric to ensure that you gain the most points possible for this assignment.

Proofread the paper for spelling and grammatical issues, and third person writing.

  • Read the paper aloud as a first measure;
  • Use the spell and grammar check in Word as a second measure;
  • Have someone who has excellent English skills to proof the paper;
  • Consider submitting the paper to the Effective Writing Center (EWC).  The EWC will provide 4-6 areas that may need improvement.

Submit the paper in the Assignment Folder (The assignment submitted to the Assignment Folder will be considered a student’s final product and therefore ready for grading by the instructor.  It is incumbent upon the student to verify the assignment is the correct submission.  No exceptions will be considered by the instructor).

===========================

How to Set Up the Plan

Create a Word or Rich Text Format (RTF) document that is double-spaced, 12-point font.  The final product does not have a page length but you are required to provide a title page and reference page.

Write clearly and concisely.  The business plan must be typewritten and neatly packages in a form presentable to a financial institution or investor.

As some businesses are more complex, no specified number of pages is required. The key is to ensure that all critical portions of the plan are covered in sufficient detail to portray in-depth thought and effort. Some areas may not apply to all businesses.

Financial statements are important, and you are expected to provide pro forma balance sheets, income statements, break-even analyses, and cash flow projections.

The body of the paper should consist of a heading for each required element.

APA and writing is a main focus of this paper and should be executed with the utmost attention to detail.  Even in this business plan, you will need to cite source information as you would need to be ready to explain from where information derived.  Should you need help in any these areas of APA or writing, please refer to the APA module located in the content area of the course or ask the professor for guidance.

Use the grading rubric and instructions as guides. Be sure to cover all that is asked of you in the assignment and do so in a way that will guide the professor into giving a high grade.  Finally, all work that you submit for this project should be your own. Remember your pledge to uphold academic integrity in all work that you prepare and submit.

Requirements for the Assignment

Before you begin writing the plan, you will read the following requirements that will help you meet the writing and APA requirements.

  • Read the grading rubric for the assignment.  Use the grading rubric while writing the paper to ensure all requirements are met that will lead to the highest possible grade.
  • Third person writing is required.  Third person means that there are no words such as “I, me, my, we, or us” (first person writing), nor is there use of “you or your” (second person writing).  If uncertain how to write in the third person, view this link: http://www.quickanddirtytips.com/education/grammar/first-second-and-third-person.
  • Contractions are not used in business writing, so you are expected NOT to use contractions in writing this assignment.
  • You are expected to paraphrase and NOT use direct quotes.  You are expected to paraphrase, which can be learned by reviewing this link:  https://writing.wisc.edu/Handbook/QPA_paraphrase2.html.
  • You are responsible for APA only for in-text citations and a reference list.
  • The expectation is that you provide a robust use of the course readings to support ideas, reasoning and conclusions.
  • You may not use books as source material.
  • When using a source document, the expectation is that the information is cited and referenced with a page or paragraph number.   Note that a reference within a reference list cannot exist without an associated in-text citation and vice versa.

week 5 6020 final assignment

Part A. Research Component: IT Service Level Agreement

An effective way to communicate the IS/IT requirements for this major strategic shift is to specify a Service Level Agreement (SLA) for IT Service Management (ITSM). ITSM refers to the entirety of activities – directed by policies, processes, and procedures – that are performed by an organization to plan, design, deliver, operate, and control IT services for customers. Note that, depending on Enterprise X’s critical mission, being a product supplier, or a service provider, the customers may be other organizations in the enterprise, or customers of the enterprise. ITSM is thus concerned with the implementation of IT services that meet customers’ needs, and it is performed by the IT service provider through people, processes, and IT.

The cornerstone of ITSM is the Service-Level Agreement (SLA). An SLA is defined as an official commitment that prevails between a service provider and the customer/user. Aspects of the service – quality, availability, responsibilities – are agreed between the service provider and the service user. The most common component of SLA is that the services should be provided to the customer as agreed upon in the contract.

For your final project deliverable, complete the following tasks:

  • Utilize your case-study business case and strategy position that you have developed for Enterprise X, and develop an SLA utilizing the ITIL methodology. Make use of your findings from Week 2 to describe how SOA can address your ITSM SLA.
  • Using the COBIT 5 methodology, identify the Service Level Management (SLM) activities required by your IT organization to support the service specified by the SLA developed.
  • Save the SLA and SLM reports as two separate documents, SU_MIS6020_W5_Project_SLA_Lastname_Firstinitial.docx and SU_MIS6020_W5_Project_SLM_Lastname_Firstinitial.docx, and submit them to the Submissions Area by the due date assigned.

Part B. Presentation Component: New Strategy Proposal

At this point, you will have completed your Final Project research and you are ready to submit your New Strategy Proposal to Enterprise X. In your final presentation, you will combine your analysis from Week 1 through Week 5, including key aspects of the SLA and SLM. Your presentation should not exceed 50 slides including a title slide and a references slide.

Save your presentation as: SU_MIS6020_W5_Lastname_Firstinitial.pptx and submit it to the Submissions Area by the due date assigned.

English Lit week 1 assignment

Post your interpretation of this week’s readings.

The access to the book can be found in the attachment below.

For this week’s assignment, write a total of 3 full length pages that address each of the works assigned, as well as each of the questions below:

1. In chapter 1 you read about how many Amerindian divine beings are represented in myth as needing to learn about the essential, natural processes of life and death, even to the point of accepting the fact that they must die to induce creation. What do you feel this portrayal of a divine being says about a culture?

2. In chapter 2 you learned about various Amerindian culture heroes. What values were expressed by the representation of these culture heroes – for instance, why portray a hero as an animal or embodiment of a botanical agent?

3. In chapter 4 you read that often human characters within Amerindian myths had to learn to trust nature in order to successfully be labeled heroic. Why do you think this element of trusting the natural environment was so important to the tribes who embraced the hero?

4. In chapters 7 and 9 you read about heroes who married natural elements and also who metamorphosed into natural elements. What do you feel is the symbolic meaning of marrying nature and/or transforming into nature?

5. The heroes presented in this week’s reading became heroes because they learned to embrace all aspects of nature and carried this wisdom back to their communities. Do you think these definitions of heroism will remain in American literature after the European conquest of the Americas?

Edited paper (Globalization & Potential Alliances)

Just need a paper edited. The actual paper is attached. Thanks.

Globalization & Potential Alliances

For an alliance like KEMSA to achieve a goal, for example, supporting the Government to establish and maintain an appropriate supply chain system for drugs and medical supplies, they should plan carefully on how to do it. A clear plan on how, why, and when should be considered. For this to happen also communication is needed. This will help to come up with different ideas of how to achieve the goal.[SLJ1]

Strategies for Implementing Goals

Goal 1:

Goal 2:

Goal 3:

Ensuring there is no corruption when it comes to medical matters is another goal KEMSA wants to achieve. This can be solved by telling the truth about any corruption one noticed in the agency. People should communicate in case of any corruption noted and ready to the truth of the matter. This can also be implemented by tracking those who are practicing corruption using the track progress.[SLJ2]

Accountability

Accountability is another issue in KEMSA. Some of the issues include poor accountability mechanism, acute shortage of medicines in hospitals, slow service delivery, high level of corruption, and many others. The board should be responsible for monitoring the execution of the strategic plan. Senior leadership should be held accountable for executing a strategic plan since they must own the strategic plan. An employee who practices the following should be responsible for executing specific aspects of the strategic planning (Rozario and Issa 2020).

Leadership Accountability[SLJ3]

Employee Accountability

Employees should ensure the crucial task is completed in the best possible way; if the employee has committed to assisting a certain task, his contribution is of high quality. An employee who is honest when an issue arises with managing how to undertake the project should also be considered. Stakeholders should also be accountable for good employees, good customers, and the good public and good investors. Good services should be practiced ensuring the stakeholders are accountable for things related to the strategic plan. Discrimination also should be avoided to make sure stakeholders are accountable for the strategic plan.[SLJ4]

Client & Stakeholder Accountability

Client Stakeholder Accountability

Stakeholder Accountability

Stakeholders should also be accountable for good employees, good customers, and the good public and good investors. Good services should be practiced ensuring the stakeholders are accountable for things related to the strategic plan. Discrimination also should be avoided to make sure stakeholders are accountable for the strategic plan. [SLJ5]

Accountability Tracking

Employees’ accountability can be tracked by: Following up on what the employees are doing. This will help them to increase consistency and productivity that everyone will be happy for. Regular performance feedback should also be practiced. It knows if they are trying to improve or not will help them to improve more and better. This helps each of the members know their strengths and makes them accept where they can do better[SLJ6]

[SLJ1]This is not detailed enough and does not address the two separate topics for this section (globalization and potential alliances).

For globalization you need to address the following things in relation to the strategic goals you determine based on your SWOT analysis and list above: Address issues such as globalization and how those issues might impact the strategic goals of the organization.

For potential alliances you also need to consider the 3 goals you developed based on your SWOT analysis and address the following in paragraph format:

· Identify potential alliances:

· Identify opportunities for alliances with other agencies or organizations.

· State why the alliances are important.

[SLJ2]What you provided is not specific enough. You need to list each of the strategic goals (from your SWOT analysis) here and then indicate detailed plans to implement each of the goals here (in paragraph format).

Develop strategies for implementing goals. You must have at identify at least two strategies for each identified goal.

[SLJ3]Here you need to be specific in terms of what tasks necessary to attain the three goals above this group is responsible for. What do they specifically need to do towards the goals? Anything about tracking/measuring if they did what they were supposed to do goes in the Accountability Tracking section of the paper later on.

[SLJ4]Here you need to be specific in terms of what tasks necessary to attain the three goals above this group is responsible for. What do they specifically need to do towards the goals? Anything about tracking/measuring if they did what they were supposed to do goes in the Accountability Tracking section of the paper later on.

[SLJ5]Here you need to be specific in terms of what tasks necessary to attain the three goals above this group is responsible for. What do they specifically need to do towards the goals? Anything about tracking/measuring if they did what they were supposed to do goes in the Accountability Tracking section of the paper later on.

Stakeholders are other stakeholders you identified earlier in the paper that are not leadership, employees, or clients.

[SLJ6]Not enough detail here. You need to identify how each of the groups tasks towards the strategic goals will be tracked so that the organization can ensure that things are getting done in relation to getting the three strategic goals implemented/achieved

Describe the effect of extremely low birth weight babies on the family and community. Consider short-term and long-term impacts, socioeconomic implications, the need for ongoing care, and comorbidities associated with prematurity. E

  Topic 1 DQ 1

In the United States, nearly 500,000 infants, or 11.7% of all live births, are born preterm (<37 weeks’ gestation) each year. Preterm birth and the sometimes associated prolonged newborn hospitalization are great family stressors, and can lead to subsequent family dysfunction.

All preterm infants are at risk for re-hospitalization, as well as medical and neurodevelopmental complications, even moderate to late preterm infants (born at 32 to <37 weeks’ gestation) . A particularly challenged sub-group is very low birth weight (VLBW) infants or those born < 1500 g. More than 90% of VLBW infants are discharged home from the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The burden of continued health and developmental problems faced by these infants is substantial. For example, compared with normal birth weight children, VLBW children face a 2–3 fold greater risk for visual and hearing impairment, speech delays and attention disorders; may have poor feeding and growth, respiratory complications, and face neurocognitive difficulties.

Families of children with birth weights less than 750 g experience more long-term adversity than families of full-term children. Family sequelae are also present for children with very low birth weight at high neonatal medical risk. Ongoing child health and behavior problems may be the major source of these sequelae, and sociodemographic status is an important consideration in identifying family adversity. Although many families appear unaffected, results support the need to monitor family outcomes and develop interventions for both the child and family.

Filipino, Asian Indian and non-Hispanic black women had the highest incidences of low birth weight, from 6.8 to 7.6 percent of births. Chinese, Korean and non-Hispanic white women had the lowest incidences, from 3.4 to 3.7 percent of births. Considering the effect of birthplace within racial and ethnic groups, Asian women born in East Asia, non-Hispanic black women from Sub-Saharan Africa, and non-Hispanic white women from other developed countries all had lower incidences of low birth weight than women of those racial and ethnic groups born in the U.S.

Being a teen mother (especially younger than 15) or being older than 35 makes you more likely than other women to have a low-birthweight baby. In the United States, black women are more likely than others to have a low-birthweight baby. The rates of babies born with low birthweight each year among different ethnic groups are:

  • About 1 in 7 black babies (about 13 percent)
  • About 1 in 12 Asian babies (about 8 percent)
  • About 1 in 13 American Indian/Alaska Native babies (about 7 percent)
  • About 1 in 14 Hispanic babies (about 7 percent)
  • About 1 in 14 white babies (about 7 percent)

Scenario: You have worked at your company for eleven (11) years. You have returned to college to earn a Bachelor’s degree in order to increase your chances for a promotion. You are nearly finished with your degree, when a supervisor’s position in a competing company becomes available in another state. The start date is in two (2) weeks, during your final exam period for your courses. The position offers a $15,000 per year salary increase, a car allowance, and relocation expenses. Your former supervisor works for the company and is recommending you for the position based on your outstanding job performance; if you want the job, it’s yours. All of the other supervisors at this level in the company have Master’s degrees, so you know that you would be expected to earn your Bachelor’s degree and continue on to a Master’s degree. Your present company offers tuition reimbursement, but the new company does not.    Review the six-step problem solving process outlined in the webtext, based on the article “The Problem Solving Process” located at http://www.gdrc.org/decision/problem-solve.html:

•Step One: Define the problem

•Step Two: Analyze the problem

•Step Three: Generate options

•Step Four: Evaluate options

•Step Five: Make your decision

•Step Six: Implement and reflect

Write a four to five (4-5) page paper in which you:

1. Define the problem in the scenario that you have chosen.

2. Analyze the problem in the scenario.

3. Generate options for solving the problem in the scenario.

4. Evaluate the options for solving the problem.

5. Decide on the best option for solving the problem.

6. Explain how you will implement the decision made and reflect on whether this option was the most effective.  The paper should follow guidelines for clear and organized writing:

•Include an introductory paragraph and concluding paragraph.  •Address main ideas in body paragraphs with a topic sentence and supporting sentences.

•Adhere to standard rules of English grammar, punctuation, mechanics, and spelling. Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

•Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA Style format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.

•Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.
