Module 02: Discussion 2 of 2

The following points come from a Blog entry on RECVUE’s website (https://www.recvue.com/what-is-revenue-leakage-and-how-to-stop-it-before-it-starts/ (Links to an external site.))

Revenue Leakage Defined
Revenue leakage is the unnoticed or unintended loss of revenue from your company. While leaks can come from both the revenue and the expenditure side, most commonly, revenue leakage refers simply to not billing (or under-billing) your customer for products and services provided. How big a problem is it? Statistics surrounding revenue leakage vary, but estimates indicate that most companies stand to lose between 1 and 5 percent of their earnings before they can be realized.

Leverage Usage-Based Billing
Revenue leakage may also occur when you’re not able to efficiently and accurately track and bill for different usage. If you can’t accurately track and bill for consumption-based services, you could be missing out on a significant revenue stream.

Usage-based billing helps ensure you’re correctly charging for your services and never leaving potential revenue on the table.

Professional Ethics in Health Care HS410M5-01

HS410-5: Integrate personal and professional ethics to achieve organizational goals.

GEL-7.02: Apply ethical reasoning to ethical issues within the field of study.

You are the finance manager in a long-term care facility that is struggling to remain solvent. The facility’s administrator has hired a consultant to work with you to increase Medicaid reimbursement. The consultant recommends that you be more “liberal” in coding the severity of residents’ needs to justify greater reimbursement. The consultant tells you, “everybody does it” and, “it’s an undetectable way to boost revenue.”

You believe this approach is somewhere between inappropriate and illegal. You know the consultant is being paid on a commission and is an old college buddy of the facility administrator. You also recognize that your facility could soon go out of business and leave you without a job.

In a two-page paper, respond to the following:

What are your ethical challenges? Identify and assess at least one personal and professional challenge. What are your options/chosen course of action? Identify and assess at least one of the personal and professional challenges.

Sarbanes-Oxley Act – Peer’s dbate evaluation.

Please read the scenario below, and the debate from my peer. I need 250 words replying the debate of my peer’s work. The analysis provided must be back-up by the USA Law. ***When you are responding to the “Debate this” prompt, I want you to explain the WHY. I want you to have material to back up your position. I want to see the support. What is your source? I want you to constructively comment and add value to someone else’s post.*** You will see the scenario, the debate phrase and my peer’s debate. The last one is the one you have to work on.

Scenario:

Superior Wholesale Corporation planned to purchase Regal Furniture, Inc., and wished to deter-mine Regal’s net worth. Superior hired Lynette Shuebke, of the accounting firm Shuebke Delgado, to review an audit that had been prepared by Norman Chase, the accountant for Regal. Shuebke advised Superior that Chase had performed a high-quality audit and that Regal’s inventory on the audit dates was stated accurately on the general ledger. As a result of these representations, Superior went forward with its purchase of Regal.
After the purchase, Superior discovered that the audit by Chase had been materially inaccurate and misleading, primarily because the inventory had been grossly overstated on the balance sheet. Later, a former Regal employee who had begun working for Superior exposed an e-mail exchange between Chase and former Regal chief executive officer Buddy Gantry. The exchange revealed that Chase had cooperated in overstating the inventory and understating Regal’s tax liability. Using the information presented in the chapter, answer the following questions.

Debate Phrase:

Only the largest publicly held companies should be subject to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

Please debate this Peer’s debate:

Sarbanes-Oxley Act is more directed and has a higher impact on private companies than publicly held ones. The failure to adhere to the requirements acts leads to severe penalties. The acts advocate the private’s companies accept special provisions towards corporate governance and formulate best practices. The response resulted from accounting and the scandal that hits corporate governance such as Tyco, Worldcom, and Enron.

Case Study Need it by June 13th 5PM EST

Overview

Studies show that people find it easier to remember stories.  Therefore, case studies are often considered an effective approach to enhancing student learning.  Since Project Management is applicable to all types of organizations and industries the case studies in this assignment will reflect that.  For example, there are case studies on construction, agile projects, and even international projects.  The goal is to provide students with new ideas and challenge old and established theories.

Instructions

The instructor will assign each student one (1) project management case study out of the list of fifteen (15) below.  The length of your answers is not as important as what you write; quality is more important than quantity

The case studies come from various chapters throughout the recommended course textbook:

Project Management: The Managerial Process, 7th Edition, Erik W. Larson, Clifford F. Gray, McGraw-Hill, New York 2017, ISBN # 978-13-07-023077.

Note #1:  the textbook is not required in order to understand the case studies and answer the required questions.

Note #2:  If you are citing references to support your submission, they can include include articles, case studies, and/or textbooks.  Do NOT use CourseHero, Wikipedia, CourseRaptor, or any other paid tutoring service.  The sharing of academic college property through these types of platforms is considered an act of academic dishonesty.  Use APA formatting when citing references.

After reviewing the case study, answer the following questions:

  1. What was the case study about?
  2. What was good about the way the project(s) was managed?
  3. What could have been done differently and why?
  4. What did you learn from the case study?
  5. Was this case study managed effectively?  Why or why not?

Submission Format

  • Length and space: 1 page to 2 pages max, single side, double-spaced
  • Font type: Arial, Calibri, or Times New Roman
  • Font size: 12 points
  • Citation guide: APA Style
  • File type: complete in MS Word but submit as a PDF

metamorphasis

This essay will develop and support a thesis on Franz Kafka’s “The Metamorphosis.”  A critical approach discussing Kafka’s sense of alienation and exile should discuss the author’s personal sense of isolation. You might want to explore Kafka’s biography to understanding his preoccupation with alienation. You must use appropriate secondary sources with in-text parenthetical references according to MLA 8 guidelines plus a works cited page. (4-5 pages) Arial 14 point type, double-space, 1” margins all around.

Suggested Essay Topics:

1. How does this novel illustrate one of the major themes of man’s isolation from his fellow man and the world? How does Gregor’s silence contribute to his powerlessness and sense of isolation?

2. Explain Kafka’s idea of the enslavement of modern man to the forces of materialism as shown in this novel. How does turning Gregor into a bug give us a different perspective and show us man’s preoccupation with financial security and other materialistic pursuits.

3. Why do you think Kafka chooses a bug, the lowest form of life, into which Gregor turns? How do the other members of his family change after he becomes a bug? Why?

4. How does this novel show man’s tendency towards unrealistic dreams? Why is Gregor’s existence as a human being just as low as a bug’s? Why does Kafka imply that his sister, Grete, will eventually turn into a bug? What is Kafka trying to tell us about life?

(B) From the Executive Perspective:

The CEO of North Eastern Hospital (NEH), Jim James, had been playing the waiting game, assuming that he had plenty of time to prepare for how his institution would be impacted by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). When the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of President Obama’s signature legislation in June 2012, Jim realized he and his staff needed to quickly rethink the hospital’s position and shift strategies. While they had initially seen the health care reform provisions of the ACA as burdensome, now he wanted the staff to think about the opportunities that it offered and how it could enhance NEH and help it to fulfill its mission in serving the community.

The more Jim read and thought about the provisions of the new law, the more convinced he became of the benefits. Since the primary goal of the ACA was to bring the uninsured into coverage, large number of uninsured individuals in the community would soon have access to care. And, with insurance companies being required to provide coverage for those with preexisting conditions, these folks would have access.

There were many negative stereotypes associated with both groups. While some of these people were indeed very ill, it was also clear that the fact that people didn’t have insurance did not necessarily mean they were sick. In reality, many were healthy individuals who, for whatever reason, were uninsured. Some were seasonal workers in organizations that didn’t provide coverage to their employees, others opted not to buy coverage, and there were those who just could not afford it and would now be subsidized. Additionally, some with preexisting conditions had in the past been denied insurance coverage on the basis of relatively minor problems such as sinusitis, a prior knee injury, and removal of a small benign tumor and so on.

This looked to Jim like bonanza. Jim wanted to find ways to connect these groups to his hospital, as well as its associated outpatient clinics and excellent pool of physicians and other health care professionals. This led him to thinking about new programs, modifying existing programs, developing marketing strategies, finding ways to capitalize on the pent-up demand for services in the short run, and becoming the provider of choice in the long run.

(3) What marketing strategies might be developed to attract this new clientele?

You make a Tik Tok video on your day off, showing photos of a local celebrity that one of your colleagues in telemetry took care of. You figure that most of your contacts would never recognize him anyway. It’s your day off and your personal time, so no harm, no foul, right?

Choose an ending to the scenario, and construct your paper based on those reflections. Choose one of the following outcomes

1. A HIPAA violation occurs, and client data is exposed to the media.

 2. A medication error has harmed a client.

3. A technology downtime that impacts patient care occurs, and an error is made.

4. A ransomware attack has occurred, and the organization must contemplate paying the ransom or lose access to patient data.

Research, compose, and type a scholarly paper based on the scenario provided by your faculty, and choose a conclusion scenario to discuss within the body of your paper.

Reflect on lessons learned in this class about technology, privacy concerns, and legal and ethical issues and address each of these concepts in the paper. Consider the consequences of such a scenario.

Do not limit your review of the literature to the nursing discipline only because other health professionals are using the technology, and you may need to apply critical thinking skills to its applications in this scenario.

• Use Microsoft Word and APA formatting. Consult your copy of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, as well as the resources in Doc Sharing if you have questions (e.g., margin size, font type and size (point), use of third person, etc.).
