Case Study. Charlie Dee. (week 5)

Charlie Dee is a 56-year-old male client with a 30-year history of smoking two packs of cigarettes per day. He is seeing nurse practitioner Sandra Gee for the first time after being diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Pattern appraisal begins with eliciting the client’s description of his experience with this disease, his perceptions of his health, and how the disease is expressed (symptoms). Mr. Dee states that he has a productive cough that is worse in the morning, gets short of breath whenever he is physically active, and always feels tired. Through specific questions, the nurse practitioner discovers that Mr. Dee has experienced a change in his sleep patterns and nutritional intake. He is sleeping for shorter periods and eating less. She also learns that Mr. Dee’s wife smokes, and that they have indoor cats for pets. He does not think that his wife will be amenable to changing her habits or getting rid of the cats. During this appraisal, the nurse seeks to discover what is important to Mr. Dee and how he defines healthy.

Mutual patterning involves sharing knowledge and offering choices. Upon completion of the appraisal, the nurse summarizes what she has been told and how she understands it. In this way, the nurse and the client can reach consensus about what activities would be acceptable to Mr. Dee. Ms. Gee provides information about the disease and suggestions that will increase his comfort. Noninvasive interventions include breathing retraining, recommendations for a high-protein high-calorie diet, eating smaller meals more frequently, sleeping with the head elevated, and using progressive relaxation exercises at bedtime. The nurse recommends that the Dees buy a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter and humidifier to assist in removing environmental pollutants and maintaining proper humidity in the home.

Because Mr. Gee has expressed a desire to quit smoking, the nurse suggests that he use forms of centering, such as guided imagery and meditation, to supplement the nicotine patches prescribed by his physician. She also provides him with written material about the disease that he can share with his wife. At the end of the visit, Mr. Dee states that he feels better knowing that he has the power to change some things about his life.

Critical thinking activities

1. Review two published research articles with Rogerian science as the framework guiding the research process. Identify the middle-range theory that was developed or guided the research process in each of the articles.

2. What is the nature of the evidence generated by research of the middle-range theory in critical thinking activity 1?

3. What philosophical tenets from Nightingale contributed to the basis for development of the Rogerian conceptual model?

4. Locate three publications and discuss how the authors used Rogerian science in nursing education.

5. Analyze your clinical practice and identify areas in which practice based on Rogerian science would improve nursing care. Enumerate the changes and the anticipated positive outcomes.

7019.1.9 : Communicable Disease

The graduate analyzes the impact of communicable diseases on the health of individuals, families, and communities in a global environment.

INTRODUCTION

With the increased mobility of human populations, diseases can quickly spread around the world. In addition, changes in vaccination practices have revealed an increase in communicable diseases that were once thought to be under control. These global health issues present new problems for community health officials.

In the Bentonville simulation, you learned how an influenza virus impacted the community. You will provide a PDF report of your completed activities.

In this task, you will also analyze an outbreak of a specific global communicable disease that occurred in the last 50 years that crossed international borders (e.g., the measles outbreak that moved from the Philippines to the United States).

REQUIREMENTS

Your submission must be your original work. No more than a combined total of 30% of the submission and no more than a 10% match to any one individual source can be directly quoted or closely paraphrased from sources, even if cited correctly. An originality report is provided when you submit your task that can be used as a guide

You must use the rubric to direct the creation of your submission because it provides detailed criteria that will be used to evaluate your work. Each requirement below may be evaluated by more than one rubric aspect. The rubric aspect titles may contain hyperlinks to relevant portions of the course.

A.  Select one of the following communicable diseases that has had an outbreak across international borders:

•  influenza

•  measles

•  respiratory syndrome coronavirus

•  meningococcal disease

•  HIV/AIDS

•  Ebola virus

•  hepatitis B

•  hepatitis C

•  tuberculosis

•  Zika virus

B.  Describe the outbreak of the disease selected in part A, including each of the following:

•  name of the disease

•  the countries involved

•  the date the outbreak was discovered

•  the dates the disease reached each involved country

1.  Analyze the epidemiological determinants and risk factors associated with the outbreak.

2.  Discuss the route of transmission of the selected disease.

3.  Discuss how an outbreak of the selected disease would impact your community at a systems level (e.g., the functioning of schools, local government, businesses, hospitals).

4.  Explain what the reporting protocol would be if an outbreak of the selected disease were to occur in your community.

5.  Discuss two strategies (e.g., patient education strategies, community education strategies) that you would recommend to prevent an outbreak of the selected disease in your community.

C.  Submit a PDF of your score summary from Bentonville that includes each of the following completed activities:

•  Influenza in Bentonville

•  Community Advocacy

•  Emergency Response

•  Communicable Disease

Note: For an example of how your score sheet should look, refer to the attached “Sample Final Results Report: Influenza in Bentonville.”

Remote Access and VPNs – Part 3

Purpose

This project provides you an opportunity to solve a comprehensive problem in firewall and virtual private network (VPN) implementation at various levels. You will play the role of an employee participating in network design and planning of a specific business situation.

Required Source Information and Tools

Web References: Links to web references in this Instructor Guide and related materials are subject to change without prior notice. These links were last verified on September 18, 2020.

The following tools and resources are needed to complete this project:

§ A web browser and access to the Internet to perform research for the project

§ (Optional) A tool for creating basic network diagrams, such as draw.io or Microsoft PowerPoint

Learning Objectives and Outcomes

§ Apply core competencies learned throughout the course to a single project.

§ Analyze and apply knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, and other network defense measures.

§ Demonstrate logical reasoning and decision-making skills.

Overall Project Scenario

Corporation Techs provides remote and on-site support to small and mid-size businesses. Clients use Corporation Techs’ services to solve problems involving malware removal, to manage data recovery and network issues, and to install hardware and software.

Due to recent developments, most technical representatives will begin working from home within the next six months. Because Corporation Techs provides 24/7 support, its systems and communications pathways must be fully operational at all times. In addition, the company has been experiencing unprecedented growth and is preparing to double its client-facing staff.

You are a junior network architect who is responsible for helping to plan and design network enhancements to create a more secure internal network, and to ensure secure remote access.

Deliverables

Project Part 3: Remote Access and VPNs

Scenario

As you are aware, many remote users will soon need access to the internal network and services. A remote access and virtual private network (VPN) plan is needed to connect it all together.

The senior network architect has asked you to create the plan that will allow secure remote access to the internal network while preventing unauthorized access. He specifically requested that all information transferred between remote users and the organizational servers be protected against snooping.

Tasks

For this part of the project, perform the following tasks:

1. Research and recommend the most appropriate VPN technology. The most likely solution is either an Internet Protocol Security (IPSec) VPN or SSL/TLS VPN. Describe the VPN technology and explain why it is the best choice for Corporation Techs.

2. Recommend any other forms of remote access that are relevant and describe how they would be used.

3. Create a draft report detailing all information as supportive documentation.

4. Cite sources, where appropriate.

Submission Requirements

  • Format: Microsoft Word (or compatible)
  • Font:      Arial, size 12, double-space
  • Citation style: Your school’s preferred style guide
  • Length of report: 3–4 pages

  • I recommended other forms of remote access that are relevant and      described how they would be used.
  • I created a professional, well-developed report with proper      documentation, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • I followed the submission guidelines.

Section C: Solution Description-katetutor

Write a paper of 500-750 words (not  including the title page and reference page) paper for your proposed  evidence-based practice project solution. Address the following  criteria:

Proposed Solution

Describe the proposed solution (or intervention) for the problem and  the way(s) in which it is consistent with current evidence. Heavily  reference and provide substantial evidence for your solution or  intervention.

Consider if the intervention may be unrealistic in your setting, too  costly, or there is a lack of appropriate training available to deliver  the intervention. If it is, you may need to go back and make changes to  your PICOT before continuing.

Organization Culture

Explain the way(s) in which the proposed solution is consistent with the organization or community culture and resources.

Expected Outcomes

Explain the expected outcomes of the project. The outcomes should flow from the PICOT.

Method to Achieve Outcomes

Develop an outline of how the  outcomes will be achieved. List any specific barriers that will need to  be assessed and eliminated. Make sure to mention any assumptions or  limitations which may need to be addressed.

Outcome Impact

Describe the impact the outcomes will  have on one or all of the following indicators: quality care  improvement, patient-centered quality care, efficiency of processes,  environmental changes, and/or professional expertise.

concert critique

After either attending a live concert or watching a full length concert online, write a critique of the performance following the format below.

Here are a few examples of full length concerts you can find online (by conducting a web search using the criteria below) that could be used for this assignment:

  •   Coldplay Live In Boston 2012 (Full Concert DVD)
  •   Sting: If on a winters night-Live from Durham Cathedral 2009 (watch all 14 songs on concert)
  •   Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Ron Wood, Bill Wyman, Jan Hammer, Charlie
  •   Duke Ellington The Great Paris Concert
  •   Richard Galliano/Winton Marsalis – Billie Holiday meets Edith PIAF
  •   Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Jazz Center Orchestra @ The BBC Proms 2004
  •   Johnny Cash & Willie Nelson, Amazing stuff!
  •   Loretta Lynn — You’re Looking At Country – Legends In Concert
You may choose a different concert video to watch, but be sure you include the URL of the concert you chose in your critique, or scan the program of the live concert you attended and attach it. The musical style of the concert should include at least one of the genres studied in this course.
The Concert Critique should be 2.5 pages long, double spaced. It should contain five paragraphs that describe the following aspects of the concert you attended:
  1. Who are the performers? Give the title of the concert and write something about the performers. Is it an orchestra? A choir? An ensemble? Solo artists? Why did you choose to attend this particular performance? Tell as much as you know about the musicians that performed – are they professionals? Students? Teachers? How long have they been performing? Etc.
  2. Describe the music that was performed on the concert. Use the musical characteristics that we have been learning in class. What genre is the music (opera aria? Jazz song? Standard tune? Solo instrument piece? Symphony?)
  3. What style period was the music written in? What was the tempo, dynamics, texture, etc.? Sometimes the music in a concert will be only one genre. Sometimes there will be several genres performed. Attach the program to your critique, and then refer to the titles in the program. For example: “Autumn Leaves” was performed by a small instrumental ensemble (guitar, bass, and percussion). It is a standard contemporary tune. The tempo was a moderately slow ballad. It hada very mellow sound…
  4. Tell how well you think the performers interpreted the music that was on the concert. Were the singers in tune? Did the piano player play musically and rhythmically? Do you think the performers communicated the music as it was meant to be communicated by the composer?
  5. Tell which pieces or part of the concert was most moving or enjoyable for you. If you didn’t enjoythe concert very much, tell why you didn’t enjoy it. What could have been better? Be as specific as you can when expressing your opinion of the performance – don’t just write generalities like “It was nice” or “it made me feel like dancing”. Tell why the music made you feel like dancing. Write about why you particularly enjoyed that part of the concert.
  6. Conclude your critique by summing up the performance and telling us if you would go to hear these performers again – or would invite your friends or family to hear this performance/performers.

needed in 18 hours

Post comments on your experience with any elements of payroll. Some items to answer:

  1. Do you receive a form 1099? Why should you receive a higher hourly rate than if you were issued a W-2 Form (this relates to the self-employment tax of 15.3% based on 7.65% as the withholding from the employee and the match paid by the employer as payroll taxes).
  2. W-2’s must be mailed to employees by January 31 each year. The employer must submit W-2 information to the government no later than February 28 each year. What are some the challenges doing this?
  3. If you work for a company and have the ability to sign checks, you may have a liability for unpaid payroll taxes. How comfortable are you with this responsibility?
  4. If you work for a company that is not properly submitting payroll taxes, this usually creates a legal and financial liability for the company but you can still claim full credit for withholding on your tax return. What do you think of this as a concern for small business owners and officers?
  5. At some point, you’ve probably have filled out a W-4. The W-4 was recently revised. View here: https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-form-w-4  and https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw4.pdf and consider how you manage your Federal Tax withholding obligation. What are the financial consequences you need to think about as you complete the W-4?

2 Questions no plagirism, intext citations and references for each questions

Question 1-

When looking at database queries and the different tools used to build and generate queries, time is a major consideration. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the newest tool on the grid right now. It’s ability to improve the query process is a point worth looking at when it comes to time management. Another point is the fact that AI can learn and therefore change the method of generating queries if databases. Identify a specific aspect of AI as it pertains to database queries, justify your selection of that aspect, and support your position as the subject matter expert (SME).

Your initial response should be a minimum of two paragraphs and should be between 200 and 250 words. The font is Times New Roman, font size should be 12, and the paragraphs are single-spaced. There should be a minimum of one reference supporting your observations. Citations are to follow APA 6.0 or 7.0, but not both.

Question-2

When you are reviewing the case study, take into consideration that there is a multitude of ways to automate processes such as this. One of the newer methods of creating these types of automation is to use artificial intelligence (AI). One of the unique properties of AI is that it learns. In this scenario, would AI benefit the process and how might this improve the tasks the researchers are trying to accomplish. In your case study, identify the task in the article you would incorporate AI and explain.

Your response should be a minimum of four paragraphs and should be a minimum of 400 and 450 words. The font is Times New Roman, font size should be 12, and the paragraphs are single-spaced. There should be a minimum of three references supporting your observations. Citations are to follow APA 6.0 or 7.0, but not both.

Assignment 1: Discussion Questions—Culture and International Trade

Culture and politics are important parts of the external environment and vary greatly, not only between, but also within each country… Research the impact of culture and politics on business using your textbook, Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet. Respond to the following:

  • Why is understanding culture critical for successful international business? Give examples of how understanding culture has been important for an international business.
  • Classify and describe at least four different types of political systems that an international business might encounter. What type of political system might have the greatest potential for imposing adverse political risk on an international business? Compare at least one other system to the one you selected and explain why it has less potential for imposing political risk.

STUDENT RESPONSE:

Understanding culture helps in avoiding unnecessary mistakes (Mitchell, 2009). These mistakes could either be as a result of different meaning in language or organizational culture. By understanding the culture of others, an individual is in a position to acquire personal knowledge of others. This deepens their understanding and promotes acceptance that facilitates peace and prosperity on the level of international relations.

Give examples of how understanding culture has been important for an international business.

Organizational hierarchy and attitude towards management have been identified to vary between cultures.  For instance, a country like Japan brings to workplace traditional values, relative status, and respect for seniority. This calls for junior team members to show respect and express a level of formality towards the senior managers (Mitchell, 2009). However, Scandinavian countries, like Norway, stresses on societal equality and tend to have a relatively flat organizational structure.

Classify and describe at least four different types of political risk on an international business?

Nationalization: this is a move by the government to takeover privately owned industries, companies, and natural resources without compensating the owners. Nationalization discourages international business to invest in a country where they are exposed to such risks.

Confiscation: this kind of risk refers to where the host government seizes the assets of a foreign company without compensation.

Termination of fuel supply agreements: When a foreign company whose activities are highly dependent on fuel supply under an agreement with the host government, then such agreement are terminated, the company is expected to suffer a major blow in continuing its operations.

Terrorism and kidnapping: terrorism and kidnapping are used by organized groups that are against the ruling regime to make political statements. Such groups may kidnap or take hostage executives of large foreign companies with the aim of funding their terrorist activities.

Compare at least one other system to the one you selected and explain why it has less potential for imposing political risk.

Comparing transfer risks to terrorism and kidnapping, it is clear that transfer risks have less potential for imposing political risk. This is because transfers may be a move by the host government to correct its balance of payment disequilibrium, a move that would be beneficial to the international company in the long run.
