socw 6311-wk11D-Translating Knowledge From an Evaluation Report

Instructors and professors often comment that they learn much more about their subject matter when they begin to teach it. When they try to explain the topic to someone else they begin to connect concepts in new ways. They anticipate questions that students might ask, consider different viewpoints, and think more critically.

For this Discussion, take the perspective of someone who is instructing his or her colleagues and sharing your understanding of research methods and program evaluation.

To prepare for the Discussion, select an evaluation report from this week’s resources. Consider how you would present the information to a group of colleagues.

Post an analysis of how you would present the results of the evaluation to a group of social work colleagues. Identify the background information that you think they would need and the key message of your presentation. Explain the strategies that you might use to meet your colleagues’ interests and goals. Identify questions that your colleagues might have and what their reactions might be.

URGENT MATH EXCEL QUESTION HELP

Select five public companies that are the closest competitors (the companies are H&m, GAP, Abercrombie & Fitch, Zara, and The Buckle) of the firm you analyzed in Homework 1, and for each of the six companies (initial firm + 5 competitors) download the last five years of monthly stock prices and dividends ending on March 31, 2021 (March 31, 2016 – March 31, 2021). Do the same thing for the S&P 500 index (symbol SPY on https://finance.yahoo.com/). These should be the end-of-month prices. Using these data, do the calculations required below and answer the following questions:

Calculations: Using end-of-month stock prices for the last 5 years (ending on March 31, 2021), compute:

c) the expected annual return, annual standard deviation, and Sharpe ratio of the portfolio created with the six selected stocks (initial firm: AMERICAN EAGLE OUTFITTERS + 5 competitors).

Questions:

(a) Based on the Sharpe ratio,

i. how did the original company perform relative to the five competitors?

ii. which stocks were the best and worst performers, on average, over the last five years? Use the 3-month Treasury bill rate as the risk-free rate. The 3-month Treasury bill rate can be obtained from the link below.

http://www.federalreserve.gov/releases/h15/data.htm

(b) Which of the six stocks have outperformed and which have underperformed the market (S&P 500) over this five-year period based on the raw return and risk-adjusted return (Sharpe ratio)?

Note on how to present your work:

  1. Use Excel to do the calculations, but summarize      your results and answer all questions in a Word document. Each numerical answer reported in your Word document should      have a reference to where in the Excel spreadsheet I can find your      calculations. Use only one Excel spreadsheet, but different tabs for your      calculations.
  2. Make your “deliverables” professional looking –      as if you could show them to an investment banker in order to land an      internship/job. Graphs are recommended to support your narrative.
  3. Cite your sources in the      Word document.
  4. Submit your report (Word      document and Excel file) by April 22, 11:59 pm EST through Assignments in Classes. Your group number should be the first part of the name of      each submitted document (e.g. Group 1_report.docx; Group      1_calculations.xlsx; etc.).

Clinical Field Experience A: Observing Student Engagement in Science and Health

Allocate at least 3 hours in the field to support this field experience.

Part 1: Observation

Observing a classroom environment can provide much needed detail and understanding of students’ learning needs and continued progress.

Observe a K-8 classroom during a science lesson. If possible, observe a lesson that integrates health, PE, or nutrition. During your observation of the lesson, complete the “Clinical Field Experience A: Science Observation” form.

With the help of your mentor teacher, identify 3-5 students above, at, or below standard achievement in the classroom environment that would benefit from additional learning support. Ask your mentor teacher for the unit and standards the class is currently learning, in order to develop the pre-assessment for Clinical Field Experience B and inquire about implementing a science pre-assessment during Clinical Field Experience B.

Speak with your mentor teacher and, provided permission, use any remaining time to seek out opportunities to observe and/or assist your mentor teacher or another teacher and work with a small group of students on instruction in the classroom. Your mentor teacher must approve any hours spent observing another classroom environment.

Part 2: Reflection

Maintain your documentation to develop an instructional approach with students. As a follow up to your observation, reflect on your observation experience.

Following your observation, discuss the science lesson with your mentor teacher. In 250-500 words, summarize your observation and discussion with your mentor teacher, and describe how you will apply what you have learned to your future professional practice.

Your discussion should answer the following questions:

  • How do you engage students in learning opportunities specific to science?
  • How do the science lessons promote critical thinking and problem solving skills?
  • How did the students respond and engage during instruction and independent work?
  • How do you modify or adjust instruction based on response from students?
  • How do you prepare to teach instruction in the content area (vocabulary, knowledge of material, content standards, resources)

3.2 Assignment: Skills Development Case

Getting Started

The approach of activity-based costing is to determine the activities that drive costs in the manufacturing process. Then based on the level of those activities, assign overhead cost. The goal is to find the most accurate predictors of cost behavior in order to make good decisions.

Upon successful completion of this discussion, you will be able to:

  • Justify the costs of the units produced under an activity-based costing system.
  • Classify overhead costs into activity cost pools.
  • Evaluate product costs related to switching to an activity-based cost system.
  • Evaluate the cost-benefit of implementing an activity-based cost system.
  • Reflect on biblical principles in relation to managerial accounting.

Resources

  • Textbook: Managerial Accounting

Background Information

As we look at activity-based costing, understanding the ethical issues that can arise is important. For this discussion, we will be looking at a specific decision and the choices that arise. We want to focus on the outworking of this scenario and home in on the ethical dilemma presented.

Instructions

  1. Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade.
  2. Read Chapter 4 in Managerial Accounting.
  3. Refer to the Skills Development Case S4-3, “Implementing ABC and Ethical Dilemmas,” at the end of Chapter 4. Read the case study thoroughly and respond to the questions following the case.
  4. Submit a one-page document with your response to Case S4-3. Discuss how the following verses inform our decision in this scenario:
    1. Zechariah 7:9–10
    2. Psalm 119:36
    3. Proverbs 10:9

Module Learning Outcomes assessed in this piece of coursework

· Build a complex business application that satisfies an architectural design using a service oriented component technology.

· Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of service oriented and component technologies.

1. Assignment Brief: Analysing and Building a Banking System Software Using Component and Service Oriented Cloud Architecture (Part 2).

Aim

The aim of the second part of the coursework is to demonstrate the knowledge and awareness of service oriented and other latest software development technologies in a given scenario. This should involve the following:

1. Apply technical proficiency in component, service and modular programming.

2. Implementation the demo system using a service oriented architecture and frameworks of your choice.

3. Produce a presentation/demonstration to discuss the used technologies and show a working prototype.

The Problem

In order to remain competitive and be able to expand its business ABC Banking Group must update its services to reflect the recent advances in information and communication technology. This will require the design and implementation of an adaptable technology migration strategy. Currently, ABC Banking Group system is a LAN based, able to be reached over the web using legacy software. Thus, the Group needs a migration strategy from a LAN based system to Cloud based system, however such a migration requires the consideration not only of the underlying Cloud service oriented architecture, and its benefits, but also should reflect the main business activities of the Group.

At the core of the Group’s business activities is its transaction processing system. The system is used to define accounts and transactions. Accounts refer to things like customers’ bank accounts, while transactions are things like deposits and withdrawals which are essentially time-stamped records. Each account keeps track of the transactions that affect it. It also has a set of attributes such as customer’s name, address, balance, overdraft, running totals (of deposits and withdrawals) computed from the transactions etc.

Once an account is set up, it is used by creating transactions and by querying the attributes of the account. Transactions can come from other systems, like direct debits, or from different branches and they can be created by program control or can be created by a user filling out an input screen. Customers can access their account and conduct transactions using their desktops, mobile phones etc.

Your task is to design new service based architecture of the system. It is up to you how to go along the task. However, you have to take into account the distributed nature of the problem and the possibility of accessing account details, on the server, using different clients and different graphical user interfaces. These interfaces are programmed so that they communicate with the server.

You define how an account handles transactions that are posted to it, one way of handling transactions, is by putting them in a list in order of their date. Queries can be from a simple interface, from reports such as bank statements or from programs that are creating transactions. All interactions with the system are achieved by creating transactions and querying attributes.

The system should be able to perform a number of operations including creating account for every customer, holding the customer’s name and address, allocating a numeric code (account number) for every customer, balance, cost for overdrafts, returning the statements etc. The system also should be able to add, delete customers and work out the total number of customers.

Coursework Documentation/Report

You are asked to address the aims and business requirements by producing a practical report which covers:

Implementation (80%)

You are asked to implement and construct your application using a programming language and programming environment that supports component/service oriented paradigm.

Presentation/demo (20%)

This should include a brief discussion of of the deployed technologies  and a working prototype of your program which should demonstrate good knowledge of fundamental service/component oriented and modular concepts.

Swift Project

The challenge of this game is to collect as many as flower with the vase (catcher). Flowers fall down from the top of the screen and user will move the vase and collects flowers. In the above figure the dashed line arrows show possible movement directions of the components. In the game no dashed line will be shown. The game scene runs in gravity. The flower will be left from randomly chosen X points (Y is fix) from the top. User can swipe vase only to the right and/or left to collect them. Once the vase touches a flower, then a score is made, and that particular flower disappears with a sound (for example, http://soundbible.com/1536-Stapler.html). User will be granted 60 sec to collect as much as flowers. On the top-right corner of the game, show the remain time and score. Make sure that not many flowers will release at the same time. You may adapt a strategy to release flowers in a discrete way, such as one flower will be release every 2 – 5 seconds from random coordinates. Make sure that flower and vase sprites are not so small and/or big. A typical size for a flower is 64×64, and for vase image is 100×100. Game ends after 60 seconds, shows the score and a restart button a new game.

Week 8 Proposed Evidence-Based Change Project Plan

Develop a proposed evidence-based change-project plan specific to the environment you are using to implement your change project. Your environmental assessment will include a work breakdown structure, a budget plan, and a measurement tool.

This week, you will design a plan that is at least four pages in length and includes all the information listed in the instructions below to discuss the elements of your proposed plan.

  • Develop an environmental assessment of your change project area and its readiness for the specific change project you are going to implement.
    • Include a work breakdown structure. For example, you could create a (timeline/task list/Gantt chart)—a hierarchical definition of the planned tasks and activities of a project that normally begins with the highest-level activities and works downward into the individual tasks.
    • Include a proposed project budget (table or spreadsheet) for the project that addresses the needed personnel, equipment, and supplies that may have associated costs. Click this link for a sample budget template.
    • Include your measurable evaluation methods (indicators/metrics). Include the actual measurement tool you will use and describe any of the following that are applicable to your project: cost savings, improved efficiencies, access to care (visits/procedures/admissions), patient/family satisfaction, associate satisfaction, associate engagement, retention, clinical outcomes, injury prevention, and risk reduction.

Fitness Project

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR THE FITNESS PROJECT REVISED

You may use some of the exercises on the sample work-outs on the fillable sheet, but the program should be your own unique program.  Use the fillable sheet.  Delete the sample exercises and replace with your exercises.  Start with exercises that you are currently doing now.  If you play any sports, include those activities.  If you aren’t currently doing any exercises, choose activities that you might enjoy that would fit into your schedule.  Be as practical as possible.  If you don’t have two hours a day to work-out, then devise a shorter work-out.  You don’t have to be doing any of the exercises, but it would be nice if you are at least doing some.  Make sure that you meet at least the threshold of training (FIT) for cardio, flexibility, and strength/muscular endurance.  You must include exercises for all of these three major categories.  Make sure you warm-up the body for at least 2-5 minutes prior to any stretching including any stretching you do for your warm-up.  You don’t have to stretch as part of your warm-up, but if you do, make sure you warm-up the body first by doing some brief cardio activity such as a fast walk, an easy jog, jumping jacks, etc. that would cause you to break a light sweat.
