MGT3059 week 1 discussion

The discussion assignment provides a forum for discussing relevant topics for this week based on the course competencies covered.

For this assignment, make sure you post your initial response to the Discussion Area by the due date assigned.

To support your work, use your course and text readings and also use outside sources. As in all assignments, cite your sources in your work and provide references for the citations in APA format.

Start reviewing and responding to the postings of your classmates as early in the week as possible. Respond to at least two of your classmates. Participate in the discussion by asking a question, providing a statement of clarification, providing a point of view with a rationale, challenging an aspect of the discussion, or indicating a relationship between two or more lines of reasoning in the discussion. Complete your participation for this assignment by the end of the week.

Partial Productivity

A construction supervisor for a large homebuilder is interested in seeing whether there are ways of improving the profitability of the company through making better use of the people and equipment that are used to construct homes.

Respond to the following:

  • Research the construction industry to learn what the inputs are that are used by such a homebuilder to build homes (the homes are obviously the output that is being produced by the homebuilder). Be sure to include some inputs that are not strictly labor (in other words, include things that are pieces of equipment or resources other than people).
  • Give at least two examples of what a partial productivity statistic would be for some of the inputs that you identified.
  • Give an example of something that would cause the partial productivity of a particular input to be reduced.
  • Give an example of something that could be done to improve the partial productivity of some particular input.
  • Describe how the overall productivity of the homebuilder would be calculated. In other words, how could the total productivity of all inputs be incorporated in a total productivity calculation?

Justify your answers using examples and reasoning. Comment on the postings of at least two peers and state whether you agree or disagree with their views.

Threat Modeling

Threat Modeling. A new medium-sized health care facility just opened and you are hired as the CIO. The CEO is somewhat technical and has tasked you with creating a threat model. The CEO needs to decide from 3 selected models but needs your recommendation. Review this week’s readings, conduct your own research, then choose a model to recommend with proper justifications. Items to include (at a minimum) are:

  • User authentication and credentials with third-party applications
  • 3 common security risks with ratings: low, medium or high
  • Justification of your threat model (why it was chosen over the other two: compare and contrast)

You will research several threat models as it applies to the health care industry, summarize three models and choose one as a recommendation to the CEO in a summary with a model using UML Diagrams (Do not copy and paste images from the Internet). In your research paper, be sure to discuss the security risks and assign a label of low, medium or high risks and the CEO will make the determination to accept the risks or mitigate them.Your paper should meet the following requirements:

  • Be approximately six pages in length, not including the required cover page and reference page.
  • Follow APA 7 guidelines. Your paper should include an introduction, a body with fully developed content, and a conclusion.
  • Support your answers with the readings from the course and at least two scholarly journal articles to support your positions, claims, and observations, in addition to your textbook. The UC Library is a great place to find resources.
  • Be clearly and well-written, concise, and logical, using excellent grammar and style techniques. You are being graded in part on the quality of your writing.

Law Case Analysis

The case analysis should consist of the following three headings:

1. Overview/Summary

2. Opinion/Legal Analysis

3. Relevance to Business Environment

Find a recent lawsuit, legal news story, or article using an Internet or DUO library search

centering on the formation of a sales contract (i.e., offer/acceptance). News-feed websites such as MSN or CNN, or search engines such as Yahoo or Google may be useful. Major publications such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, etc are available through the Davenport library. You may also use your hometown newspaper websites as a resource. To complete the case analysis, you should research the assigned topic to provide a measure of information about the topic’s significance to the current business environment.

The Overview/Summary section should thoroughly address the facts and background

of your chosen case or legal dispute and the legal issue (or law) in question.

The Opinion/Legal Analysis section should demonstrate your critical thinking and

analysis of the subject matter as it relates to the legal principles and concepts covered

in the textbook. You should provide a thorough explanation and discussion of the legal principles as they apply to the issue in question.

The Relevance to Business Environment section should discuss the topic’s

application to the current business climate and offer an insight-building summary,

recommendations, findings, and conclusions. Feel free to draw on your own professional

experience as well.

The assignment should be presented in APA format and be a minimum of 500 words (2

pages or more), pages to be double-spaced, typed in 12-point font.

ASSIGNMENT B:

Cover Letter  One aspect of strategic planning is to develop a strong team of people. Discovering and retaining top talent may lead a company to success. Your goal for this journal assignment is to showcase why you would make a good candidate for an organization. To stand out from other candidates, you will want to write a cover letter for each position in which you apply. Cover letters allow you an opportunity to highlight your skills and competencies for potential employers.  For this assignment, you will develop a cover letter, reflect on your most relevant skills, and assess what action steps you can take to make your cover letter stronger.  To write an impactful cover letter, you should answer the following questions before you begin composing it. Starting with these questions will help provide a clear and concise message for the person reading your cover letter. •Why are you interested in the position? Consider what makes the position, organization, or company interesting to you. •What three skills or competencies do you possess that match the skills the employer is seeking in a candidate? ◦You can find these skills by viewing the job description. These specific skills are the reason every cover letter should be unique for each job you apply for.   Begin by reviewing the following Forbes’ articles:

1. https://www.forbes.com/sites/lizryan/2014/10/12/forget-cover-letters-write-a-pain-letter-instead/

2. https://www.forbes.com/sites/lizryan/2014/11/07/stop-dont-send-that-cover-letter/

3.https://www.forbes.com/sites/naomishavin/2014/07/16/tips-for-the-perfect-resume-and-cover-letter/#5d5150b330f3

Once you have reviewed the articles, identify a position of interest as a potential job opportunity. You may use any job search website. Two popular employment websites are Indeed  (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.and CareerBuilder. After you identify a position of interest, use the job description to identify three skills or qualifications that match your background. Next, develop a cover letter by creating a three- to four-sentence paragraph highlighting your matching skills.

My job of choice is on indeed – Healthcare Finance Analyst.

I need help with this brief assignment  – plagiarism and grammar will be checked.

Week 4 Discussion 2 Response

FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT YOU WILL HAVE TO RESPOND TO THE RESPONSE BELOW. THE RESPONSE HAS TO BE 100 WORDS.

Here are my ratios for Target for the past two years:

2018:

Debt to equity ratio – 2.65

Times interest earned ratio – 4.93

2019:

Debt to equity ratio – 2.62

Times interest earned ratio – 4.55

The debt to equity ratio is considered to be a leverage ratio and essentially tells you how much debt a company uses to run their business (Gallo, 2017). Although some ratios you want to be as high as possible, the debt to equity ratio needs to be in a reasonable range and if it is too high, this could mean that the company may be financially unstable and they are using too much debt to run their operations.  Target’s ratio is somewhere in the middle range and although it is not unreasonably high, it is getting to the point where it should really be considered into the overall investing decision.

The times interest earned ratio is another debt ratio and tells you how much of a company’s income is used toward interest and debt expenses.  When this ratio is low, or close to 1, this means that they are using a large proportion of their income towards these expenses and will also cause the company to become financially unstable (Carlson, 2018).  Target has a relatively higher times interest earned ratio which shows that they can maintain their debt and interest expenses based off their level of income provided through their revenue. Based off of these two ratios, I would consider investing into Target because of their ability to control their debt and the interest and expenses that come along with it.

Guilty or Not guilty?

1. Rawls vs. Nozick

You are a lawyer representing an unknown client in writing the constitution for a new nation of Freedonia. Argue for either John Rawls’s conception of the Fair Equality of Opportunity Principle (which Nozick would reject if it entails government action to redress inequalities of opportunity) and the Difference Principle or for Robert Nozick’s principles of justice in holdings as part of that constitution. Present arguments for both sides on this position—including especially Nozick’s Wilt Chamberlain example—critique both arguments (based on critiques from readings or class) and provide your own original response to the critiques of the position you support

Formal requirements:

Essay should be 3-4 pages (1000-1200 words) double-spaced, 12 pt. font with one inch margins. Pages should be numbered, with a title page that is not numbered. There should be no footnotes. Any notes should be endnotes. If you cite sources, you may use any established style guide, but philosophers use Chicago style. Here is a quick on-line reference for Chicago style citations. http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide.html

Module 07 Discussion – Clinical Case: GI Diet Therapy

Mrs. G. is a 45-year-old female arrives at the emergency department where you are working with complaints of burning pain in her chest and throat and a sour taste in her mouth. She states this pain has been going on for years after she eats certain foods. She has a large, extended family and does all of the cooking. She is Hispanic and likes to cook her special recipes because she believes that “these foods are good for herself and her family.” She is very proud of her cooking and believes that is one of her main contributions to her family. She has never been sick and does not like to take pills.

She is examined by the emergency room doctor and diagnosed with Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). The doctor has ordered medication for you to administer. These medications include a proton pump inhibitor (Prilosec), and a Histamine 2 blocker (Pepcid). He also prescribes the proton pump inhibitor to be taken at home for the next two weeks. Mrs. G. starts to feel better and is ready for discharge. You will be providing the client teaching and discharge instructions about GERD.

In your discussion about GERD include:

  • Dietary suggestions you would make
  • What foods and liquids she should avoid
  • What changes she should make
  • Barriers she will face in making these changes and how they can be overcome

Please make an initial post by midweek, and respond to at least two other student’s posts with substantial details that demonstrate an understanding of the concepts and critical thinking. Remember that your posts must exhibit appropriate writing mechanics including using proper language, cordiality, and proper grammar and punctuation. If you refer to any outside sources or reference materials, be sure to provide proper attribution and/or citation.
