unit 1 audit

  Scenario

Peak View Sound Sources is a public company based in Denver, Colorado and is focused on providing digital media and Web sites to music companies and musicians through the Mountain and West Coast regions. The company has a solid reputation and is starting to get some national and worldwide attention, with new prospective companies wanting to take advantage of the quality services they have seen on other existing Web sites.

Your company has been hired to assist Peak View Sound Sources (PVSS) to ascertain the security posture of the company’s Information Systems resources and services. You are heading the team of auditors tasked to perform the audit and assessment.

You enter the company offices of PVSS and begin your analysis of the environment and situation.

Initial analysis has allowed you to determine that the company is made up of the following divisions:

  • Corporate Management and      Support Staff: This      organization contains the executive management, human resources, and      accounting teams. All company decisions are directed from the      management team.
  • Information Technology: This team manages the networks, servers, Web sites, and      desktop environments for the company. The team has a perception of      being difficult to work with, as they are slow to adopt new technology and      slow to implement new offerings. The reality is that the team has      resources and wants to uptake the newest and greatest technology, but      they spend most of their time putting out fires and reacting to      issues.
  • Media Content and Design: This team is in charge of working with the record      companies and musicians to create the Web Sites and implement the product      offerings that are sold.
  • Sales and Marketing: This team works with the musicians and record companies      to offer and sell the services of PVSS.

There is a concern about the security of the infrastructure with respect to the ability to protect the copyrighted material that PVSS is given to host, because a single incident several years ago took place in which an entire new CD was released prematurely via the Internet. Although PVSS was not directly linked to the leak, there are suspicions surrounding PVSS.

  • Explain why you think the use      of these guidelines and procedures is not sufficient and may not solve the      problem. Consider how a company-wide policy program could help the      situation.
  • As you begin to prepare your      game plan to conduct an Information Security Audit, talk about why you      think this current situation makes it difficult to identify the controls      that need to be examined.
  • If you were performing this      security audit, with which regulations would you want to ensure that      PVSS complies? Why?

Assignment Description

The Discussion Board is part of the core of online learning. The purpose of the Discussion Board is to allow you to learn through sharing ideas and experiences as they relate to course content and the Discussion Board question. Classroom discussion in an online environment requires your active participation with classmates and your instructor to create robust interaction and dialogue. Students are highly encouraged to engage on the Discussion Board early and often, as that is the primary way the university tracks class attendance and participation. Because it is not possible to engage in two-way dialogue after a conversation has ended, no posts to the DB will be accepted after the end of each unit.

At a minimum, you will be expected to complete 3 posts during the unit: 1 original response to the Discussion Board question and 2 posts responding to classmates, following these guidelines:

Your original post must be at least 200 words in length. It must reference the text or course learning materials at least once. Please note that even if the question asks for an opinion, you are still expected to support opinions with references to course materials and any other credible academic sources to support your opinions. Do not use Internet sources other than those provided in the course materials. APA format is not necessary for your Discussion Board when citing references, but you are required to acknowledge your resources: In the narrative, describe where information was obtained. For example, “As mentioned in Chapter 2 of the course textbook, prioritizing tasks is…” or “As mentioned in the intellipath lesson for Unit 2…”

Your two response posts must be at least 75 words in length. Responses should contribute to the conversation by being reflective, specific, and engaging. Quick responses (such as “I agree” or “Thank you!”) will not be counted as adequate.

Your first contribution must be posted before midnight CST (Central time) on Friday of each week. You must make 2 additional posts—on separate days between Saturday and Tuesday—before midnight CST. The original response and the peer responses can be completed in any order.

For assistance in supporting your assignment, please use your text and all course materials.

After you have reviewed the Assignment Details below, click the Discussion Board link under the My Work heading above to make your post.

Assignment Details

A self-assessment and skill evaluation is essential to creating a career plan that will lead to a fulfilling career. Conduct a self-assessment and personal skills inventory on yourself (as described in the M.U.S.E. assets and the intellipath assignment).

Choose 2 attributes, desires, or skills that you have, and discuss how they have shaped or could shape the type of career you would like to pursue.  This could be a desire to live in a certain location, earn a certain amount of money, use certain skills, or engage in certain activities.

Review the posts of other students, and respond to their list and chosen career path. State how the skills, desires, or attributes that they described are a good match for the career path they have chosen. Provide recommendations for career paths that utilize the same skills, desires, and attributes.

In your own words, post a response to the Discussion Board, and comment on at least 2 other postings. You will be graded on both level of engagement and the quality of the contribution to the discussion.

week-3

 Discussion:1 Minor

Matthew 5:13-16 ESV

You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

1 Peter 2:12 ESV

Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.

Proverbs 15:1 ESV

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

The key question this week is about the Virtuous Business Model in the workplace which is very important. We do spend more waking hours at work than any other place and probably have contact with a greater number of people through work. But what about outside of work?  Jesus understood people and was a master of influence and he was always “on.” He tried to retreat to the garden and hills to pray yet even then he was watched. We may not be watched as closely as He was however we see in our news feeds every day that there is someone with a cell phone almost every place, and anything we say or do could be on the Net in a matter of seconds.

Question for discussion:1

Questions to Ponder and Respond to:

  • Is there a different standard of behavior at work vs not at work?
  • How can we take the message of these three verses and the Virtuous Business Model and use them while we are away from work?
  • What is your favorite verse that reminds you about your non-work life and behavior?

Question/Discussion:2

Consider how your contributions to this discussion will demonstrate critical thinking. This Critical Thinking Skills website can help you.

  1. Read and review the content resources.
  2. Your posts must include at least one reference from the course textbook and at least one credible journal article for a minimum of two references. Credible sources are generally scholarly and peer-reviewed. Research through IWU’s Off Campus Library Resources (OCLS) is strongly recommended.

Question:2 (Major)

Write an initial response to the following key question:

How are critical questions structured?

Making Individual Decisions

Have you ever been frustrated in making decisions on the job? This Discussion allows you to practice making a decision in a work situation by using various decision-making models. These models are intended to make the decision-making process easier by providing a framework for arriving at a wise solution.

To prepare for this Discussion:

  • Review the Learning Resources this week.
  • Consider a decision you had to make for an organization (i.e., to buy a piece of equipment).
  • Reflect on the process you used to make the decision (the rational model, bounded rationality, or intuition).
  • Choose one of the following decision-making models to use during this Discussion:
    • Rational model
    • Bounded rationality
    • Intuition
  • Review the following scenario and reach a decision based on the model you chose.

Case Study: The Problem of Untimely Performance Evaluations

You are the manager of a department in a health care organization that has undergone significant closing of units and departments and redeployment of employees to other areas. Several staff members have been redeployed to your department within the past three months. It was your understanding that managers who had employees redeploying to other departments were to complete performance evaluations on the employees they were losing prior to their moving to another department in order to be fair to the employees. During the last accreditation visit from The Joint Commission, your health care organization was cited for lack of timeliness in completing employee performance evaluations. Following that visit, two and a half years ago, Human Resources and all of the system managers were taken to task and told that employee performance evaluations will be completed on time.

In preparation for an anticipated reaccreditation survey visit from The Joint Commission, the Human Resources Department has done an audit of personnel files and determined that four of the five staff members who were redeployed to your department did not have performance evaluations completed by their previous supervisors. Three of those four evaluations are now overdue, and the HR staff is coming to you as the current supervisor to resolve the problem. If those files are requested for review by the surveyors, the lack of timeliness in the completion of those evaluations will reflect poorly on you, as well as on the organization as a whole.

The options that immediately came to mind are that you could:

  • Complete a performance evaluation now.
  • Have the previous supervisor(s) complete the performance evaluation since the employees have been in your department only for a few months.

By Day 4

Post a comprehensive response to the following:

  • What did you decide?
  • What decision-making model did you use?
  • Using that model, how did you arrive at the decision?
  • Name one benefit and one challenge to the type of decision-making process you used.
  • With whom would you need to communicate in order to implement your decision? How would you communicate your decision? Would the communication be formal or informal?

200 to 250 words

Be sure to support your work with specific citations from this week’s Learning Resources and/or additional sources as appropriate. Your citations must be in APA format.

Article analysis and discussion

THE TASK IS TO DO A DETAILED ANALYSIS ON THE ATTACHED ARTICLE (RAP AND MORAL CHARACTER) FOLLOWING THE FORMAT SPECIFIED IN THE INSTRUCTIONS FILE AND SAMPLE ANALYSIS POWERPOINT.

THE STEPS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Step 1. Read, annotate, and clarify the passage. Identify purpose and conclusion, annotate the passage, clarify key concepts and claims. This part draws in large part on the first module of the course.

Step 2. Portray the basic argument structure: Write a short synopsis. Identify main argument, identify sub-arguments, supply missing premises, represent the entire argument in an arrow diagram.

Step 3. Assess the argument. This is the main part of the assignment—it draws on the second and the third module of the course. REPRESENT THE ARGUMENT IN AN ARROW DIAGRAM. Once the argument represented in an arrow diagram, identify the deductive arguments and check their validity, identify the inductive or abductive arguments and check their strength, identify any fallacies. Challenge questionable claims, concepts, or conclusions.

Step 4. Assess the strength of the argument overall. Present your analysis in a 1-2 page discussion at the end of the assignment.

·  communicate a recommended solution or plan of action from an individual to an organization;

·  solve an internal problem.

This assignment allows you to demonstrate understanding of rhetorical appeals and definitions used in business communication through a formal, written report.  It reinforces knowledge of writing as a process in which you use personal and collaborative revision and editing skills in service of substantive revision.

Argument Analysis Paper

The specific assignment is to reconstruct an argument as it is made by Socrates the philosopher we are studying in the course material (ATTACHED)

subjecting it to an analysis to show whether you think it works or not. This means subjecting it to a validity test (if deductive) or evaluation of its strength (if inductive), based upon the evidence it presents in its premises in support of its conclusion. Then, if you agree that the argument is a good one, try to imagine what someone who wished to criticize the argument would say in response to it, in an attempt to undermine it, and then respond to the criticism, by showing why you do or do not still think that the argument is a good one. Alternatively, if you think that the initial argument you’ve presented isn’t a good one, explain why, and then try to think of how the philosopher who formulated it would respond to your criticism, and how you would reply to the philosopher’s response.

Your paper should begin with a basic thesis statement and summary of what you are about to do: “In this paper, I will show that (philosopher x’s) argument concerning (subject y) is a successful/unsuccessful argument. First, I will reconstruct the argument, and discuss why it is significant. Then, I will show that the argument is/isn’t successful, and why. I will then consider possible objections to what I have said, and how I would reply to them. Finally, I will summarize the contents of the paper, showing what has been accomplished by my analysis.”

For maximum points, the structure of your paper should adhere to this format as closely as possible. It’s expected length is about 4-6 pages, double-spaced, with standard font size and margins. If outside sources are consulted, even if they are not directly quoted from, full citations are required, in accordance with any generally accepted style manual.

Please note: This is NOT a research paper, which will not conform to the structure as outlined above. While outside sources may be used for clarification, it is expected that the paper can be written simply by being familiar with the material presented in the course; including the lectures, quizzes, and readings.

nursing research discussion board

Can someone reply to this post please?

A question that I am interested in investigating is what is the task that most nurses find difficulty working on in the ICU unit?

There are  four major types of qualitative research: phenomenology, grounded theory, ethnography, and historical (Mauk, 2019) Phenomenology consists of qualitative research that describes the lived experience to acquire understanding of an experience from the perspective of the participants (Mauk, 2019). On the other hand, grounded theory is a type of qualitative research that examines the process of a phenomenon and concludes in the generation of a theory. A question that can describe this design is “What is the process of recovery following breast cancer?” (Mauk, 2019). In addition, Ethnography emphasizes on the basis of culture such as different practices for different cultures (Mauk, 2019). Lastly, Historical design examines events or people to explain and understand the past to guide the present and future, for example they ask questions about ancient beliefs about diseases and the impact it has had on the medical field.

Grounded theory is the most appropriate for my qualitative research question because this method is most commonly used in areas where there is little or no previous research (Mauk, 2019). Grounded theory can be used by nurses to explore a phenomenon about which little is known.

Discussion about The relationship between vaccination and autism spectrum disorder

 1. Formulate the Discussion section of your selected topic.  In this section, you need to analyze and interpret the Results. THen, go back to your initially stated Hypothesis(es) to compare and contrast with the final Results.

2. Post it.

Hook: The relationship between vaccination and autism spectrum disorder.

Background Information: Autism and vaccines are now two very big problems in society because there are many articles and research about the relationship Autism has with vaccines. There are many parents who decide not to give their children vaccines and do not protect it because they think that they are going to create more problems if they give him vaccines and not only with autism but with other diseases such as his central system.

Problem Statement:  These are some of the searches that they are doing with much more frequency because there are many parents who no longer want to vaccinate their children and what they do is an extension through religion or they refuse. They are for almost all vaccines but there is one in particular that they say and it has not yet been scientifically proven that it is the one that develops autism, which is MMR.

Research Question:  Why do parents refuse to vaccinate without a scientific demonstration?

Hypothesis:  It may not be true that vaccines cause autism disorder, but out of 1000 children who get vaccinated, it may be one child who gets autism because vaccines are created with antibodies to take care of ourselves and children with more than 200 diseases.

Thesis Statement:  The reason for this research is that parents are well informed and protect their children and do not think that all vaccines can make their children sick.
