Technology in the Mathematics Classroom

As education advances in the 21stst century, educators must be prepared to use technology to engage students in learning, enhance instruction, and support students with exceptionalities.

Create a 7-10 slide digital presentation for a staff development session for elementary school teachers  on the use of technology in the mathematics classroom.

Your presentation should include:

  • Three technologies that can be used in the mathematics classroom to enhance instruction . Technology incorporated could include apps, computer programs, videos, websites, etc. Your choices should represent varied technologies. For each technology, include the following:
    • A detailed description of the technology including the features of the technology, how it works, and the elementary grade levels where it is developmentally appropriate
    • Benefits of using the technology in a mathematics classroom and how it fosters students’ engagement, communication, and confidence in using technology.
    • A mathematics classroom example of the use of the technology. Explain how teachers and students would interact with the technology for a specific math lesson
  • One assistive technology to support the communication and learning of students with communication disabilities.
  • A title slide, presenter’s notes, and a reference slide

The digital presentation should include graphics that are relevant to the content, visually appealing, and use space appropriately.

Scenario based question

Scenario:

You have recently been hired as a Chief Information Governance Officer (CIGO) at a large company (You may choose your industry). This is a newly created position and department within the organization that was founded on the need to coordinate all areas of the business and to provide governance of the information. You will need to hire for all positions within your new department.

The company has been in business for more than 50 years and in this time has collected vast amounts of data. Much of this data has been stored in hard copy format in filing cabinets at an offsite location but in recent times, collected business data is in electronic format stored in file shares. Customer data is being stored in a relational database, but the lack of administration has caused data integrity issues such as duplication. There are currently no policies in place to address the handling of data, business or customer. The company also desires to leverage the marketing power of social media, but has no knowledge of the types of policies or legal issues they would need to consider. You will also need to propose relevant metrics that should be collected to ensure that the information governance program is effective.

The CEO and Board of Directors have tasked you to develop a proposal (paper) that will give them the knowledge needed to make informed decisions on an enterprise-wide Information Governance program, addressing (at a minimum) all of these issues, for the company.

Requirements:

The paper should include at a minimum of the following sections:

a. Title page

b. Executive Summary (Abstract)

c. Body

i. Introduction (including industry discussion – 1-2 pages)

ii. Annotated Bibliography (2-3 pages)

iii. Literature review (2-3 pages)

iv. Program and technology recommendations, including:

1. Metrics

2. Data that matters to the executives in that industry, the roles for those executives, and some methods for getting this data into their hands.

3. Regulatory, security, and privacy compliance expectations for your company

4. Email and social media strategy

5. Cloud Computing strategy

d. Conclusion

e. References

2. You must include at least two figures or tables. These must be of your own creation. Do not copy from other sources.

3. Must cite at least 10 references and 5 must be from peer reviewed scholarly journals (accessible from the UC Library).

4. This paper should be in proper APA format and avoid plagiarism when paraphrasing content. It should be a minimum of 8 pages in length (double-spaced), excluding the title page and references.

Milestones:

· Week 3 – Introduction Section – A 2-3 page paper describing the industry chosen and potential resources to be used. 100 pts.

· Week 5 – Develop a full annotated bibliography (3-4 pages) and develop the literature review (3-4  pages). 200 pts.

· Week 7 – Completed final research paper (both milestones combined together and include the last sections as discussed in the list above). 300 pts.

Total:  600 pts

Discussion: Quality Improvement Process at a company

Quality Improvement Process at a Company

For this discussion, you will consider the following process in a product packaging operation: Every 15-20 minutes a pallet of boxed product is delivered from the packaging line. A team member pulls individual boxes of product from a pallet, one by one. He runs them over a scanner that verifies he has the correct product for that job, then places them in a carton. Overall, the team member’s work pace is fast enough to meet the current production requirements. Two or three times a minute, however, the scanner’s computer faults and he must stop and interact with the keyboard to clear the error and restart the program. The team member is clearly irritated when this happens. For your initial post in the discussion forum, be sure to address the following:

  • If you were a manager at this company, how would you address this problem? Identify the problem, explain your role in addressing the problem, and describe obstacles that you might face and need to overcome.
  • How would you approach running a kaizen event in this area to address this problem?

Respond to at least two of your peers by evaluating their approaches to addressing the problem and suggesting additional strategies. Support your suggestions by sharing an example of inefficiencies you’ve personally observed either at work, in an organization you are familiar with, or even as a customer or patron. What solutions could have improved the quality management process in that situation?

Your presentation must be a minimum of six slides in length (not counting the title and reference slides), and you must use at least two academic resources. Any information from a resource used must be cited and referenced in APA format.

For decades, relational databases remained essentially unchanged; data was segmented into specific chunks for columns, slots, and repositories, also called structured data. However, in this Internet of Things (IoT) era, databases need to be reengineered because the very nature of data has changed. Today’s databases need to be developed with the needs of IoT in mind and have the ability to perform real-time processing to manage workloads that are dynamic. For example, relational databases should be able to work with real-time data streaming and big data (an example was presented in the Unit III Lesson).

Scenario: Falcon Security wants their customers to be able to view security video footage in real-time and provide customers with the ability to query video footage for viewing. Choosing a database solution such as MongoDB would allow Falcon Security to store customer video footage in the same database as the metadata.

To do this, Falcon Security needs a way to manage the demands of real-time data streaming for real-time analytics. Conduct some research for a NoSQL database application, such as MongoDB or Cassandra, that could meet this need. How would switching to a real-time database solution help Falcon Security remain competitive? Create a PowerPoint presentation that includes the components listed below.

  • Provide a brief introduction to IoT.
  • Present the argument to the Falcon Security CEO that      switching to a more dynamic database structure (NoSQL real-time database)      will meet the demands of IoT.
  • Introduce some features of the database you chose,      whether it is MongoDB, Cassandra, or another database.
  • Describe how switching to a more dynamic database will      give Falcon Security a competitive advantage.

Assignment 1: The Spirit of Motivational Interviewing

There is an old adage that “practice makes perfect,” which is particularly relevant to learning a new set of skills like those associated with motivational interviewing. Over the next several weeks, the Assignments are designed to give you opportunities to practice specific motivational interviewing skills that are introduced in the Discussions.

In this week’s Discussion, you practiced applying the spirit of motivational interviewing to a service user in the case study to which you were assigned. As you may remember, the spirit of motivational interviewing is a heart-set and mindset that encompasses four elements that are crucial for building a relationship with a service user: partnership, acceptance, compassion, and evocation (Miller & Rollnick, 2013). In this Assignment, you will review a series of practitioner statements to determine whether the statements reflect the spirit of motivational interviewing.

To Prepare

  • Review the Learning Resources on the spirit of motivational interviewing.
  • Review the document entitled, “Rating Samples for MI Spirit.” Consider whether each of the exchanges is consistent with the spirit of motivational interviewing. Why, or why not?

Submit a 2- to 3-page paper that addresses the following:

  • Explain whether each exchange in the “Rating Samples for MI Spirit” document is consistent with the spirit of motivational interviewing. Why, or why not? Be specific.
  • In instances where you do not believe that the exchange is consistent with the spirit of motivational interviewing, explain how the practitioner could have responded to be consistent with the spirit of motivational interviewing. Again, be specific.

Description

The following question build upon the reading for this lesson.  Make sure you have the appropriate readings completed prior to starting this assignment.

Tasks

  1. Go online and find an entry level position at a company anywhere in the world. For your answer to this question, submit the job description and company for the position you found. Prepare and submit (as part of your homework) your cover letter that would accompany your resume when you apply for this position. We are not asking you to apply for the position you identified, but to go through the process of preparing a cover letter as if you were applying.
  2. Find the website for the company with the job opening you found in the previous question.  Based upon their website, list the three C’s and four P’s for that firm. Submit the company’s web address (URL) along with your response.
  3. Prepare your Unique Selling Proposition (USP) for one of the following scenarios that your interviewer/potential client will remember you by. Keep it to less than three lines, approximately 30 seconds.
    • You are graduating with your bachelors degree in less than a year. You have applied for entry level positions in your discipline. There are numerous other candidates for this position. You have to distinguish yourself from the other candidates.
    • Imagine yourself several years into your career. You have started attending industry events where you have the opportunity to interact and meet new people and perspective clients. You see someone from a company/agency that your firm has been attempting to add as a client. You see this as an opportunity to help your company make inroads with this potential client. How are you going to ?introduce yourself and make a memorable impression?

their answer

respond to their answers. tell if you agree or disagree and why to each of them.

  1. Were you surprised at the current size of the human population or at its changes since your year of birth? Honestly, no. I thought there would be MORE people if anything. Since the pandemic it would make sense that the population would rise this last year especially because people have a lot of time on their hand. Also, I also feel like the social norms also have had an impact on the birth rate and how much our population has gone up and there are many younger people in the world as opposed to older.
  2. How many people do you believe the Earth can support without dire environmental damage?
11 Billion, that’s where in the world population video it was said to plateau due to climate change and limited resources. If it goes any higher that plateau could easily turn into a depreciation if we don’t play our cards right.
  3. Should developed countries help slow the population growth of developing countries? If so, what sorts of methods should be employed to do this? There is no way to slow the population growth in developed countries unless you implement more socialist ideals. If they do they have to limited children per person and it would take a LONG time to get the population where it needs to be.
