Take A Position On a Specific Issue from a Previous Research Paper

Can you have this done by 12pm est. February 9, 2021?

Please use this paper for the issue.

Your boss, who was impressed by your memo, has asked you to identify a single significant issue in your industry and prepare a research-based position paper on how your company can most effectively address the issue. The issue may be one of the trends you identified in project 2, or it may be an overarching issue related to the trends. Use your research to find out how the issue has been addressed by other companies in the past and how experts in the field recommend addressing it.

This assignment is designed to refresh your research and citation skills so that you are fully prepared for the next courses in your program. You will find, access, and analyze information from a variety of sources that include library databases, online trade and professional journals, and timely industry online web resources. You will also refine your ability to provide in-text citations and references in accurate APA format.

Paper Guidelines:

Your paper should open with an introductory paragraph that identifies a specific problem or issue and makes a claim about its significance in your industry. The rest of your paper will develop an argument that supports this claim. Please review the helpful information about writing an argument paper in UMGC’s Effective Writing Center’s writing tutorial.

Body paragraphs need to describe and justify your proposed solution and explain how it relates to how other companies or experts have addressed the same problem or issue based on your research. Use information from your sources to support your ideas while ensuring that your own voice and ideas control the paper. Be sure to include a parenthetical citation (Author’s last name, year of publication) at the end of every sentence that includes words, ideas, or data from a source.

While presenting your own argument, you should also anticipate and refute counter-arguments or alternative approaches. By showing that you understand other approaches and being very clear about how your approach is preferable, you will be more likely to convince readers to take your advice.

You should end your paper with a concluding paragraph that reiterates your recommendation and reminds readers of the most important points you want them to remember. You should not introduce new information in your conclusion.

Present your research-based position in an essay of 4-5 double-spaced pages (ca. 1,000-1,250 words) in 12-point Times New Roman font. Include at least five sources in your list of references. Cite each source you list as a reference at least once by using parenthetical citations in the body of your paper. Use APA format for the paper, including the References page.

I forgot to add the main ingredient to this conversation.  I can change the time to 3pm est.  Thanks.

Unit VII Essay

In this assignment, you will refer back to the two handouts indicated below and answer the questions associated with them. Both items listed below will be responded to within the same document which you will then submit. The response to each item will consist of at least 200 words each, and any sources used, including your textbook, should be cited and referenced properly at the end of your responses using APA formatting. It is not necessary to copy the items below into your document; however, please compose essays that include an introduction, body, and conclusion.

1. Please review the handout, “Should Cross Burning be Protected,” found in the required reading, and answer both of the following questions:

a. Summarize the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in both of the cases that are excerpted in the handout. In a few words, explain why the Court, in R.A.V. v. City of St. Paul overturned the decision of the Minnesota Supreme Court. Explain why the Court upheld the Virginia statute in Virginia v. Black.

b. What did the Court mean when it held, in Virginia v. Black, that “just as any State may regulate only that obscenity which is the most obscene due to its prurient content, so too may a State choose to prohibit only those forms of intimidation that are most likely to inspire fear of bodily harm”?

2. Please review the handout, “Does the Sending of Obscene Material,” found in the required reading, and answer all of the following questions:

a. Do you agree that the statute in question applies to computer-generated and computer-transmitted information?

b. Should the government be required to present expert witnesses to establish that the material in question is obscene? Is this a question that a jury can decide on its own? How are jury members aware of “community standards”?

c. If the community standards are different in Milpitas, California, from those of Memphis, Tennessee, why should the defendants be held accountable for the standards in Memphis and not those in the location where the material was transmitted?

d. Are you satisfied with the test for obscenity? In what manner, if any, would you change the standard?

CASE 1 MGT 423

Case Assignment

Action research is the process of inquiry that is used to assist an individual or organization in solving a problem or improving a situation. For each scenario below, think about the reasons why things did not work out well for the company and more specifically, think about action research in terms of developing a plan for action.

Your task for this assignment is to explain what steps the organization should take by reviewing the standard action research and organizational development steps covered in the background materials. Try to assess which key step is missing in the scenario below.

Then write a 4- to 5-page paper using three scholarly sources from the required and optional readings list addressing the following for the scenario below:

The Perils of XYZ Widget Company

Sales have gone down at the XYZ Widget Company and nobody in the organization, including the CEO, seems to know why. They decide to hire you, an organizational development consultant, to do some action research. You and the CEO spend a lot of time discussing how to proceed and create a contract. The contract specifies that you will limit the scope to finding factors that led to the decrease in sales, come up with a plan of action within one month, and answer the following questions using the background data from the scenario below.

Scenario:

XYZ Widget Company has lost 20% of its market share over the past two years resulting in a sales loss of 1.5 million in 2017 and 2 million in 2018 for a total of $3.5 million. Each widget costs the consumer $29.99 to purchase, and the average customer will purchase three widgets annually. Each XYZ widget is produced for $8 dollars and is of higher quality than the competition.

One competitor (Jim’s Widgets) in the widget industry with a similar product has increased market share by 12% due to a lower production cost of $4 per unit and price to the consumer of $9.99.

The CEO of XYZ Widget Company is reluctant to lower prices and has had to eliminate commissions and bonuses of sales employees who exceed goals. In addition, seven of the 21-member sales team were laid off for non-performance of sales goals.

Develop an Action Research Strategy Plan covering the following Action Research Phases in a report to the CEO.

  • Data gathering and Diagnosis
  • Feedback
  • Planning Change
  • Intervention
  • Evaluation
  1. What are the reasons behind the decrease in sales?
  2. What actions or strategy (data/sales/changes) should be taken to turn sales around and regain market share?
  3. What strategy should be taken to increase employee morale?
  4. How long should this strategy take to complete?
