You must also think about a potential job you might apply to once you graduate and determine what skills you developed through general education courses that make you qualified for a specific job.

Write: For this discussion, you will address the following prompts:

  • Review a job description through a job website (e.g., Career Builder (Links to an external site.), Monster (Links to an external site.), etc.) in your desired career field. Please provide the job title and the link to the job description.
  • Identify at least five skills you have obtained through your general education courses that will make you successful at this job.
  • Demonstrate with at least two examples how your newly acquired knowledge and skills have shaped both your personal and professional development.
  • Describe your plans for putting your education to use within your community.

Your initial post should be at least 250 words in length, which should include a thorough response to each prompt. You are required to provide in-text citations of applicable required reading materials and/or any other outside sources you use to support your claims. Provide full reference entries of all sources cited at the end of your response. Part 1: Pharmacology

Chronic Stable Angina

E.H. is a 45-year-old African American man who recently moved to the community from another state. He requests renewal of a prescription for a calcium channel blocker, prescribed by a physician in the former state. He is unemployed and lives with a woman, their son, and the woman’s 2 children. His past medical history is remarkable for asthma and six “heart attacks” that he claims occurred because of a 25-year history of drug use (primarily cocaine). He states that he used drugs as recently as 2 weeks ago. He does not have any prior medical records with him. He claims that he has been having occasional periods of chest pain. He is unable to report the duration or pattern of the pain. Before proceeding, explore the following questions: What further information would you need to diagnose angina (substantiate your answer)? What is the connection between cocaine use and angina? Identify at least three tests that you would order to diagnose angina.

Diagnosis: Angina

1. List specific goals of treatment for E.H.

2. What dietary and lifestyle changes should be recommended for this patient?

3. What drug therapy would you prescribe for E.H. and why?

4. How would you monitor for success in E.H.?

5. Describe one or two drug–drug or drug–food interactions for the selected agent.

6. List one or two adverse reactions for the selected agent that would cause you to change therapy.

7. What would be the choice for the second-line therapy?

8. Discuss specific patient education based on the prescribed first-line therapy.

9. What over-the-counter and/or alternative medications would be appropriate for E.H.?

Longevity, public health, medical technology

The average life expectancy (LE) in 1900 was 47 years of age. In 2008, the average LE in the US was 80 years, and now the US Census Bureau projects that the average LE will be 79.5 years. Life expectancy in the US differs by sex and race. Women live about 5 years longer than men, and whites live about 4 years longer than African-Americans.

At the population level, increased life expectancy has been attributed to two major factors related to technology. Public health measures such as vaccinations and water treatment have added 25-30 years to our life expectancy while medical advances have added about 5 years. These measures have significantly reduced the incidence of infant mortality and allowed people to be healthier well into their 70’s, 80’s and beyond. (Source: https://www.census.gov/prod/1/pop/p23-190/p23190-g.pdf)

Part 1: Take the following online survey: http://www.livingto100.com/calculator/age

Take note of the questions being asked in the survey and consider the factors that might impact your longevity. (NOTE: The survey does ask you to provide an email address and create a password as the calculator is regularly updated to account for new research findings. If you have strenuous objections to providing your email address you can create a dummy account through a free email provider or contact the instructor for an alternate writing assignment. )

Part 2: At the level of the individual, genetic and environmental factors help to predict how long a person will live.  For this discussion topic, review the learning resources for this week.

Respond to the following questions:

  • Share your survey results – what is your predicted life expectancy? What factors contributed to your longevity (or lack thereof)?
  • What are the economic, sociological, psychological, and healthcare implications of an aging population that could live indefinitely?
  • What role does technology play in health across the lifespan? How does it keep us from being healthy? How does it promote health?
  • How long do you think we should live? Should we live indefinitely or should there be limits? Justify your response.

Inmates Rights and Special Circumstances

Inmates Rights and Special Circumstances
According to the preamble to the U.S. Constitution, one (1) of the founding philosophies of the United States is that each person, citizen or not, is endowed with certain permanent rights. This philosophy extends even to people who have committed crimes that warrant prison sentences. Imagine that you are a commissioner on the Board of State Prison, and you are responsible for making recommendations regarding inmate rights and special circumstances. Use the Internet or Strayer University library (https://research.strayer.edu) to research costs that an inmate could incur if he or she chooses to challenge his or her confinement.
Write a 3-to 5-page paper in which you:

  • Analyze the legal mechanisms in which an inmate can challenge his or her confinement. Support or refute the cost of such challenges to the state and / or federal government. Provide a rationale for your response.
  • Analyze the grievance process from a state of your choice that inmates must follow while incarcerated. Critique the grievance process and whether it is enough to protect inmates’ rights while incarcerated. Provide a rationale for your response.
  • Examine the five largest groups of inmates with special needs that are discussed in your textbook. Prepare one recommendation for each group that management can use to meet the needs of the special need inmate. Provide a rationale for your response.
  • Determine whether the use of the death penalty violates offenders’ rights against “cruel and unusual punishment,” as guaranteed by the Eighth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Justify your response.
  • Use at least three quality references. Note: Wikipedia and other websites do not qualify as academic resources.

journal analysis 4 OT

Pick one of the following terms for your research: economies of scale, economies of scope, global companies, global teams, globalization strategy, international division, joint venture, multi-domestic strategy, multinational stage, or standardization.

Journal Article Summary & Discussion: Within each module, there is a list of key terms. Each student will select one of the key terms and conduct a search of Campbellsville University’s online Library resources to find 1 recent peer reviewed article (within the past 3 years) that closely relate to the concept. Your submission must include the following information in the following format:

DEFINITION: a brief definition of the key term followed by the APA reference for the term; this does not count in the word requirement. SUMMARY: Summarize the article in your own words- this should be in the 150-200-word range. Be sure to note the article’s author, note their credentials and why we should put any weight behind his/her opinions, research or findings regarding the key term.

DISCUSSION: Using 300-350 words, write a brief discussion, in your own words of how the article relates to the selected chapter Key Term. A discussion is not rehashing what was already stated in the article, but the opportunity for you to add value by sharing your experiences, thoughts and opinions. This is the mostimportant part of the assignment.

REFERENCES: All references must be listed at the bottom of the submission–in APA format. (continued) Be sure to use the headers in your submission to ensure that all aspects of the assignment are completed as required. Any form of plagiarism, including cutting and pasting, will result in zero points for the entire assignment.

End of Year Transactions – Thought Responses – 200 Words

Reply to two prompts in 100 words each. No sites needed, these are just thoughts on the prompts.

(Original prompt for your consideration,

On the last day of the fiscal year, a co-worker asks you to cut a check for $2,000 as a miscellaneous expense for supplies in order to complete a project for a VIP customer today. You notice the invoice looks a little different from other invoices that are usually processed. You know that by preparing the closing entries tomorrow, the miscellaneous expense will be set to zero for the beginning of the year.

  • Should you write this check today and record the expense or write the check tomorrow?
  • How would the company be affected if the check is written and the invoice ends up being erroneous?)

Prompt 1:  In this situation, I would write the check the day that was being asked even if it was the last day of the fiscal year. As protocol, I would check the invoice to make sure it’s not erroneous. I would communicate with my co-worker and ask for an explanation of why the invoice looks different. An explanation can be that it is a new vendor. To make sure that the invoice is accurate you can also contact the vendor to reassure that it is legit. Before I would decide to turn in the check, you can always go to a manager or supervisor for approval. That way if it turns out to be fake, it won’t be your fault. Also, research of the invoice should not be rushed, you want to make sure you are doing your job correctly. If I couldn’t get clarification I would have co-workers wait and just add that check to the next fiscal year. The company would be affected if the invoice ends up being erroneous. They would be taken a loss of $2,000 plus your job can be in jeopardy for not following the correct procedure.

Prompt 2:  If I were to write a check out for $2000 to complete a project for the last day of the year it would make sense to write it out for that same day and not for the following day. I would try to verify this invoice beforehand if I noticed that it didn’t look like the usual invoices. I could verify other supply invoices to see if it is the same company’s we normally use of if it a new company that we are getting these supplies from. It may be a new company if I didn’t recognize the logo on the invoice, if it is or isn’t then we will take other steps from there. If I thought it was written incorrectly I could contact the number or company on the invoice to verify the information. I would also probe with my co-worker to find out why the invoice may have been written wrong so they can help me correct it or explain to me why it looks different. If the check is written and the invoice ends up being inaccurate then the company would be at a loss of $2000 for that year.

Social Self

For this assignment, you will choose one or two social media platform(s) (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Snapchat, etc.). Once you have chosen, in 500-750 words, do the following:

  2. Evaluate the posts/pages you see through the lens of self-presentation.
  3. Discuss which motive (self-enhancement or self-verification) is most evident in the sites you viewed. Provide examples, but do not include identifying information (names, handles, gender, etc.).
  4. Discuss if you think these online portraits of people are accurate. Explain your position.
  5. Explain if the prevalence of being exposed to social factors on social media influences individual behavior and the development of the social self, include how it does or does not. Use social psychological terminology to explain your answer.
