Benchmark – Community Teaching Plan: Community Teaching Work Plan Proposal

The RN to BSN program at Grand  Canyon University meets the requirements for clinical competencies as  defined by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and the  American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), using  nontraditional experiences for practicing nurses. These experiences come  in the form of direct and indirect care experiences in which licensed  nursing students engage in learning within the context of their hospital  organization, specific care discipline, and local communities.

Note:   The teaching plan proposal developed in this assignment will be used  to develop your Community Teaching Plan: Community Presentation due in  Topic 5. You are strongly encouraged to begin working on your  presentation once you have received and submitted this proposal.

Select one of the following as the focus for the teaching plan:

  1. Primary Prevention/Health Promotion
  2. Secondary Prevention/Screenings for a Vulnerable Population
  3. Bioterrorism/Disaster
  4. Environmental Issues

Use  the “Community Teaching Work Plan Proposal” resource to complete this  assignment. This will help you organize your plan and create an outline  for the written assignment.

  1. After completing the teaching  proposal, review the teaching plan proposal with a community health and  public health provider in your local community.
  2. Request feedback (strengths and opportunities for improvement) from the provider.
  3. Complete the “Community Teaching Experience” form with the provider. You will submit this form in Topic 5.

What are the most important elements of the Affordable Care Act in relation to community and public health

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has three primary goals: expand access to health insurance, reduce costs, and protect patients from erratic actions by insurance companies (American Institute for Economic Research, 2018). The ACA sets limits on price and structure of health insurance, as well as, places new insurance requirements on employers and individuals (American Institute for Economic Research, 2018). According to Green, “many believe that the ACA is the closest to universal health coverage that the United States can achieve” (2018). It is not a national healthcare plan. The ACA addresses quality of care and equity of care. The Office of Legislative Counsel breaks down the ACA into 11 sections/titles:

Quality affordable healthcare for all Americans, Role of Public Programs, Improving the quality and efficiency of health care, Prevention of chronic disease and improving public health, Healthcare workforce, Transparency and Program integrity, Improving Access to innovative medical therapies, Class act, Revenue provisions, Strengthening quality affordable health care for all Americans, Education and health (2010).

In relation to community and public health, the ACA addresses disease prevention, access to preventive services, and creating healthier communities (Office of Legislative Counsel, 2010). Under this system, focus will be on encouraging life-long wellness. Health promotion starts in the community. The ACA also proposes making screenings and prevention a priority, supplying tools to access science-based research for health-related information, and waiving co-payments for senior citizens on Medicare (Office of Legislative Counsel, 2010).

Under the ACA “nurses are in prime position to now practice as fully as possible”, according to Green (2018). Nurses step into leadership roles that can influence policy and decision making within the communities they serve. Further education is a priority under the ACA, and with this, nurses expand their knowledge on best practices to promote well-being. Community health nurses are essential to preventive health care. These nurses practice outside typical healthcare settings which allows further outreach to more persons. American Institute for Economic Research states, “nurses maintain a critical role for transforming the current “sick care” system into a true “health care” system” (2018), because of their holistic approach to community centered healthcare.

Enacting Communication change week3

Part 1: Beginning of the Week (1 paragraph)
For this CCC, you should have chosen a person with whom you share regular communication. So, you should have a few occasions this week to apply your plan. Under this heading for your submission, write down what you project will be your opportunities to implement your plan. You need to be on the look-out for when you will be putting your plan into place.

Part 2: Middle of the Week (1-2 paragraphs)
In this section, you will describe the setting and people involved in your exchange that was your implementation of your CCC plan. Include enough details so that the process of the exchange is understood.

Part 3: End of the Week
Under this heading, you will have the opportunity to reflect on the process that you went through for your Communication Change Challenge. Use the following sub-section headings for your responses (see template). You will evaluate the impact of the project as it relates to interpersonal communication and the course objectives (COs). It is important here that you clearly demonstrate your understanding of the course concepts through application to your course project.

Remember that your patterns for communicating interpersonally have been developed over many years. Therefore, you should be neither surprised nor discouraged to find that changing your interpersonal communication behavior takes time. In order for you to take this project to its fullest potential, you may need to continue to modify, implement, and reinforce these new behaviors for far longer than the duration of the project. It is possible, however, to modify the way you communicate because the payoff is improvement to our communication and relationship outcomes. Changing interpersonal communication for the better is worth the effort.

3A. Topic Selection Reflection (1 paragraph)
What course material did you use to help guide your particular communication change? Cite the information you found helpful as you write your paragraph summary of texts used.

Note: For each section, be detailed and specific. You need to use several course materials from different chapters, course outcomes, videos, assessments, articles, etc. Your course project evaluation will be graded for comprehensive content, analysis evaluation, application of the course material, organization, and so forth. Please consider its weight when you place value on its importance to your final course grade.

Accounting-Assets

In
this course, the case analysis is used to enable you to apply concepts, share
ideas, and improve communication skills. Through case analysis, you will
discover for yourself the usefulness of concepts, how to apply them in practice,
and their benefit to organizational decision-makers.

The
best way for you to prepare for the Final Exam case question is to complete
these Case Analyses. Effective analysis consists of quantitative and
qualitative analysis in order to provide a well-rounded solution.

In
order to complete your case analysis successfully, you must

·
identify the role you are
playing;

·
assess the financial reporting
landscape, considering the user needs, constraints, and business environment;

·
identify the issues;

·
analyze the issues
(qualitatively and quantitatively); and

·
provide a recommendation and
conclusion.

The primary role of the United Nations (UN) is to maintain international peace and security. It does this by preventing conflicts within and between nations, peacemaking, and by creating environments that allows peace to flourish. Other than maintaining international peace and security, the UN also seeks to promote and protect human rights (United Nations, 2020). It has used both on-the-ground activities and legal instruments to diligently protect human rights following the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948 under the international law (United Nations, 2020). You have mentioned that all the UN member states remain sovereign states as far as the administration of governance is concerned. This means that the UN does not force any country to make certain decisions, neither can it overrule the Constitution of any member state. However, when it comes to the issue of the international court of justice, disputes within or between countries are settled in accordance with the international law. I think that this is a good thing because it prevents leaders and governments from acting in unjust manner towards its people or another country.

Q.1. Class, are the challenges facing the nursing profession the same as physician and health care service administration profession? Please share your thoughts.

Q.2 Write a reply to this article.

Being someone who currently works in a hospital a current workforce challenge is getting the required staff to support current operations. Today’s world is different than it was in the past because of the pandemic which has increased the requirement of care and strain of work on the nursing staff. I constantly hear how the issues of expanding bed space not being infrastructure, machines, managers, and medication but solely staffing. I have seen this issue alone being the cause of hospitals going into the diversion. I believe this issue mostly affects hospitals where they are taking the vast majority of care for COVID patients while also attempting to continue their usual everyday operations. Strategies I have seen by the hospital is increased pay, free lunch, recognition, and management/nurse connection. For me personally, the free lunch is all that will need to be said but I have had arguments from others on why other factors are their driving force. These are hard times for everybody and not only growing staff but being able to retain them is a challenging task all hospitals are facing right now.
