Discuss the role of collaborative practice in case management

Discuss the role of collaborative practice in case management. Use examples to show the features of successful collaboration and co‐operation and the challenges to be overcome. Why is collaboration important in case management? You will need to consider how to ensure that the client’s wishes are not overlooked when different agencies work together each with their own priorities. Think about examples you may have seen in your work or with friends and relatives. By coming up with your own examples rather than those from books or articles you demonstrate a deeper level of understanding.

could you reply on this “Following my shift into the United States, I have found different aspects of the culture here that are very challenging to adapt to. For instance, there is the use of slang and other cursing words that was not common in my mother country. In my stay, I have also found it challenging trying to communicate with a foreign accent. Other aspects of the culture are based on the diet. The food here is very different from the one back at home. Other elements include religion. In ensuring I adapt to the varying cultures, I have made new friends who have taught me a lot about different aspects of the new cultures. I have also tried tasting different recipes and learning how to prepare them at home. this has made it easier to adapt to the new cultures.” I will give you 5 dollar tip.

In terms of the therapeutic aspect within the human services models, they are a variety of approaches that can be applied to assist the client or individual’s needs, while building rapport throughout the therapeutic process. According to Burger (2018), these characteristics, attitudes, and skills have been identified mainly by a humanistic psychologist, who has done a great deal of research on the nature of the helping relationship. The contribution towards specific therapeutic approaches can implement different goals and put emphasis therapeutically on building a rapport between client and therapist.

Giving the opportunity to choose between the two models, I will definitely use the approach of the behavioral and humanistic approach. The behavioral approach is based on the theories of classical and operant conditioning. The premise of these theories is that all behaviors are learned; faulty learning (conditioning) which can be the cause of abnormal behaviors. Therefore, throughout the therapeutic treatments, the client will learn how to implement the correct or acceptable behaviors within situations. One of the important features of the behavioral approach is its focus on the current issues and behaviors being displayed; the attempts to remove inappropriate behaviors the client finds to be disturbing. This approach is in contrast to the psychodynamic therapy, where the primary focus is on trying to uncover unresolved issues that occur from within childhood, that can cause abnormal behaviors.

The humanistic approach I believe is a positive approach to psychotherapy as it focuses on the client’s individual nature, rather than categorizing people with similar characteristics presenting the same issues. The approach views the client holistically, and not from the therapist’s views but from their individual observation of their own behaviors. The emphasis is placed on the client’s positive traits and behaviors, as well as the ability to use their own personal instincts to find growth, healing, and wisdom within themselves. Assessing the humanistic approach, it is more of a talk therapy that encompasses the gestalt approach while exploring how the client if feeling in the here and now moment, rather than exploring previous events that led up to the presenting emotions. In practice both approaches within my area of expertise, I more gravitate to the humanistic approach as it provides an atmosphere of empathy, support, and trust that allows the client to express their feelings within a nonjudgmental zone. This particular approach does not make the therapist act as an authoritative figure, rather, the client and therapist relationship is one of the equals.

Student post down below:

As a leader, one main focus must be on the growth of the organization by assessing the employees, clients, and community while monitoring, assessing and positioning for success Harley-McClaskey (2015).  The important elements of effective organizational leadership include, communicating, monitoring, mentoring, as well as analysis of the future focused on the goals, results, and impact of the organization (Harley McClaskey, 2015).

The first element of an effective organizational leader is communication.  As described by Harley-McClaskey, communication is critical for the human services professional and leader (2015).  She further stated that the first step in being a good communicator is being an active listener.  Eagn (2006) defines active listening as “the ability to listen fully, accurately, and with meaning” (p. 53).   This first element is tied in with Harley-McClaskey’s point about the day-to-day activity of regular staff communications as well as communicating organizational mission, vision, and values.  The leader must give eye contact, positive body language, inviting tone of voice and have an open-minded attitude so effective communication can occur.

The second element of effective organizational leadership is the ability to monitor progress toward organizational goals and processes, review program evaluations and results, review of the client satisfaction data, and more importantly the organizational financial resources (Harley-McClaseky, 2015).  One of the best practices for monitoring is conducting quarterly reviews.  Even though much may not change, it helps to set things in motion should any changes are to be made immediately.

Harley-McClaseky further stated that mentoring is an effective tool for organizational leaders.  As a mentor or an advisor to those who are in training to become future organizational leaders, meetings with direct reports are vital to the employee and the organization.  In addition, while mentoring is being done, employee talent assessments and performance evaluations are done to give feedback on progress, provide professional development for self and employees.

The effective organizational leadership will make future analysis that will focus on the goals, results, and impact of the organization (Harley-McClaskey, 2015).  During this analysis stage, the leader will ensure that the organization is liquid while conducting research to improve the brand, perhaps fundraising efforts as well as involving the stakeholders or community in ensuring that their needs are fulfilled.

It should be everyone’s desire to demand effective organizational leadership.  As Harley-McCaskey referenced, “selecting and monitoring growth measures provides a stream of feedback data that functions like a dashboard for leaders to use when leading the organization to a successful future.”  Therefore, we should strive to become the best leaders we can.
