To what extent should a person’s diagnosis (for example, autism or ADHD) be considered by a behavior analyst in assessing the cause of his or her behaviors that have been targeted for change?

Behavior analysts should only consider a diagnosis when it directly impacts the behavior of the subject. For instance, a person with a motor disability might emit behavior that is caused by inability to control their body. However, it’s important to be cautious to not start attributing behaviors to disabilities if there isn’t a clear link.  This falls into the “disability” fallacy pointed out by the textbook authors (Chandler and Dahlquist, 2015).

When is it appropriate to attribute a person’s diagnosed condition as the function of his or her behavior in an FBA?

I may be misunderstanding this, but it doesn’t seem very helpful to me to attribute a diagnosed condition as the function of a behavior.  If a behavior is connected to some part of a disability (sensory processing, apraxia, impulse control, etc.) I think we should be using the FBA to make that clear, but also to make clear that even if the behavior serves a function connected to the diagnosis, they are not the same thing. Behaviors can be changed, even if diagnoses can’t. Therefore, the diagnosis is just part of the environment.

Why does the topography of the behavior reveal rather limited information about the conditions that account for the behavior of concern? Explain.

Topographically similar behaviors can have widely different functions, and sometimes behaviors may be topographically identical and functionally different. For instance, my daughter often hums tunes and recites movie lines. An FBA could show that she does this at different times for self-soothing or for avoidance of classwork, even if the behavior is identical.

Is it important to understand why a behavior occurs before planning how it can be changed?

On the question of whether we need to understand why a behavior occurs, my answer is “yes”, but I think this needs to be clarified because behavioral science language departs from regular English here. One of the foundations of Behaviorism is that we don’t look for “explanatory fictions” (Skinner, 1953), meaning that we’re not examining a person’s subjective state of mind.  However, the whole point of this class is to assess functions of behavior, and if we equate “why” to functions, it becomes clear that there’s no way to plan a behavior change without understanding the function.

Critical thinking easy due Friday Morning Pacific standard time

Instructions

Select one of the two questions below, and write a well-developed, clearly organized, six paragraph essay that responds to the question. Your essay should contain: an introduction with a clear and concise thesis statement that responds to the question, four supporting paragraphs with evidence to support your ideas, and a concise conclusion.

The evidence in your essay can come from class readings, discussions and assignments, your own research, or your own observations. A diverse selection of evidence will strengthen your argument and your paper. Additionally, thorough analysis should be provided, that clearly explains how the evidence supports the essay’s thesis statement.

  1. The progression of technology has had a tremendous impact on individual identities, especially when compared to previous generations. We as individual people have more access to outside influences than ever before. Do you think that the increase in potential influences makes it more difficult for a person to make his or her own choices about identity, or do the additional options make it easier to self-identify?
  2. Advertising has grown more and more pervasive. We used to simply get ads on TV and radio, in print, and on roadside billboards.  Now, however, it is everywhere. They cover the spaces around us and fill the screens we stare at. There are also marketing techniques and product placements that keep brands in our consciousness all the time.  All with the intent to maximize brand loyalty and profit. Should corporations have unlimited access to us through advertising, or should they be forced to advertise less?

Hello! Final thoughts for this essay before rough draft is due. Just want to reinforce content from my last few announcements. You need to think about all concepts from this semester. As a writer, you need to think about the rhetorical appeals (pathos, ethos, logos), different perspectives/critical theories (race, gender, class, psychology), fallacies, and and different logical approaches that have been introduced throughout the semester. Next, don’t forget about research. All semester you have been asked to find sources for your essays and assignments. And, don’t forget that you need citations and validation for your evidence. Lastly, MLA format is expected. Don’t forget your works cited page.

Selling the Vision

To prepare for this Assignment, reflect on Dr. Craig Marsh’s case study. Consider his challenges as well as his strengths and how you have adopted a model for corporate change. This model should include your organizational change or cultural change model, steps you would take to change the culture, and the dissection and explanation of how these steps will influence each of the challenges you face. Also included will be the mitigation plan to address the challenges, the creation of your vision statement, and a description of how you will translate your vision into measurable objectives. This week you compile these elements into one PowerPoint presentation that is your strategic plan to sell your vision to your organizational team.

By Day 7
Submit a 5- to 8-Slides PowerPoint presentation, excluding title and References slides, that includes a leadership strategy for translating your vision into organizational success. In your PowerPoint presentation, do the following:

1.Create your vision statement.

2.Delineate your plan for how you will get others within the organization to adopt it as their own. In your plan, be sure to include the following:

3.The organizational change or cultural change model you used as the basis for your plan

4.An explanation of the steps you will take to change the culture and how these steps will influence each of the challenges you face

5.A brief description of the mitigation plan to address the challenges

Your PowerPoint presentation must contain a minimum of five scholarly resources on the last slide of the presentation. Additionally, in the Notes section of each slide, you must provide detailed support, including relevant citations, for the bulleted information within the slide. Your resources can be a combination of the Learning Resources used throughout this course and new scholarly resources.

Note: Your presentation should adhere to the APA Presentation Template, found in this week’s Learning Resources.

proposal project

Please use the grading rubric to create an outline. Each section of the rubric should be a section of your final paper and could become the headings. Your assignment will be graded based on each element of the rubric. Compare each section of your paper with the rubric to ensure all elements are covered. Then, include an introduction and conclusion to tie the paper together.

Being able to clearly identify the outcomes of any project is essential to the successful implementation of the project. While clear and concise outcomes are important it is also important to develop effective strategies to meet the outcomes you identify. In this assignment you will identify the necessary resources, including a potential budget, a realistic timeline in which someone can implement the project, the timeline for the project, and the strategies you will use to achieve your outcomes.

·       Discusses in detail the resources you need to implement your plan and the potential budget requirements.

·       Proposes a detailed timeline for implementing the plan, including who will be involved in the proposal and the implementation phases.

·       Identifies specific strategies and how you will use these to accomplish each outcome.

·       Discusses how you will evaluate the success of your outcomes.

Discussion ANSWER RAWL

Respond to someone else’s post, offering your own analysis of at least 300 words. In doing so, you must cite at least twice from that week’s readings (POLITICAL LIBERALISM BOOK BY RAWL. MATERIAL: Political Liberalism Lectures I (beginning-46), II(47-88) and VI(212-254) You may agree, disagree, expand or take the original poster’s analysis in a new direction.

What you cannot do, on the other hand, is disrespect others in your posts. I encourage disagreements, so long as they are disagreements about the merits of ideas, and you backup your positions with facts and citations.

See below the image this person chose to talk about

https://render.fineartamerica.com/images/images-profile-flow/400/images/artworkimages/mediumlarge/1/mlk-derek-russell.jpg

The piece that I chose is a picture of Martin Luther King Jr. for Rawls talks about society being a fair system of cooperation. “The fundamental organizing idea of justice as fairness, within which the other basic ideas are systematically connected, is that of society as a fair system of cooperation over time, from one generation to the next” (pg. 15). This picture embodies what cooperation finally would look like because of the civil rights movement in the United States. It shows that for the first time both blacks and whites could live in a country where they are fully seen as equals and live in a union of cooperation.

The system that was made for all people of all backgrounds to come together and live equally I believe is really shown in this image. Not just for Americans but for people throughout the whole world Martin Luther King Jr. is seen as the person that brought an end to segregation and inequality especially for the western world. Even though that there was no more slavery the segregation made it so that people would not be able to live in a state of cooperation where it would pass down from one generation to the next but because of the struggles of Dr. King it was first seen in the world. Now around the world people from different backgrounds and different genders can come together and live in a system where there is cooperation and justice can finally start to be seen as fairness, for justice for some ethnicities was not fairness for the others and now it finally is.

Week 2 Journal:

Prior to beginning work on this assignment, watch the following four videos:

Police officers and departments are under greater scrutiny than in years past. Much of that seems to come from the advent of social media, greater news channels and coverage, and increased social activism and awareness of people’s rights and obligations in our society.

Most everyone agrees about the need for law enforcement to protect people from harm, catch criminals, and go into violent situations that others would flee from without the training that police officers receive. The question becomes not only whether more needs to be expected from the police in curtailing crime and violence, but also whether there needs to be a better relationship between police and the people that they serve.

Community policing is one approach to better relations between police and the larger public. After reviewing the four videos from TED Talks and TEDx Talks and the optional recommended resources, answer the journal questions below. Please enhance your responses with independent research, personal experiences, and observations from your daily life. Be careful about engaging in “urban myths” and hasty generalizations about the topics you study here. Support your information with credible sources. Offer new ideas on how police can build better relationships with the communities that they serve.

For your journal,

  • Explain the notion of warrior versus guardian mindset for policing.
  • Examine how technology and social media frame how the public views police actions.
  • Explain how police agencies can improve their officers’ relationships with the people that they serve.
  • Describe, in your opinion, the proper balance between the warrior versus guardian mindset for police agencies moving forward.
  • Predict how police agencies will change (or not change) over the next decade based on the discussions in the sources provided.

The Week 2 Journal submission

  • Must be two to three double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Writing Center (Links to an external site.).

    • Title of paper
    • Student’s name
    • Course name and number
    • Instructor’s name
    • Date submitted
  • Must use at least two sources from the required resources, TED Talks videos, or utilize at least two University of Arizona Global Campus Library scholarly or credible resources in addition to the course text.

When analyzing a viewer’s Sensory Response, you may consider analyzing at least two of the following effects:
    1. Colors
    2. Lines
    3. Shapes
    4. Balance
    5. Contrast

Discuss what the viewer might want to see and what type of visual presentation will set the tone for that response. When analyzing the Emotional Response, consider the effects of at least two of the following types of visuals:
    1. Mood setting colors
    2. Mood setting lighting
    3. Persuasive images
    4. Positioning of search or purchase buttons

  5. False representation or advertising

HR

HR Headline: Pay for Performance Remains Controversial

“Pay for Performance” has made inroads in business, but has remained a hard sell in public school systems. There are some successful examples where teacher pay has been linked to student test scores. For example, in Minnesota, some districts have stopped giving automatic raises for seniority and base 60% of all pay increases on performance. In Denver, unions and school districts designed an incentive program where teachers receive bonuses for student achievement and for earning national teaching certificates. However, some plans have not worked. For example, Cincinnati teachers voted against a merit pay proposal and Philadelphia teachers gave their bonus checks to charity rather than cashing them. It appears that having teachers involved in planning the incentive system is one key factor to success. The same can be said for all incentive plans – if employees don’t buy into them, they will not work.

Your paper may be based on a business entity of your choosing from the public or private sector and must answer the following Research Questions:

1. How could an organization measure the effectiveness of its pay-for-performance plan(s)?

2. From an employee’s perspective, what are the advantages and disadvantages of using a pay-for-performance plan?

3. From an employer’s perspective, what are the advantages and disadvantages of using a pay-for-performance plan?

Research Paper Instructions:

Please support your ideas, arguments, and opinions with independent research, and include at least three (3) supporting references or sources (NOT Wikipedia, unknown, or anonymous sources). References must include the name of the author and the date of publication. Websites are not acceptable. Format your work in proper APA format, include a cover page, an abstract, an introduction, and a labeled conclusion in accordance with the course rubric, a minimum of 3 FULL pages of written content, and a references section. Double-space all work and cite all listed references properly in text in accordance with the 7th edition of the APA manual.

Reason Behind The Name Of Chicago Cubs Stuck As “Cubs”

What is the reason for calling Chicago cubs “cubs”? What is the history behind it?

During the turn of the time (18 to 1900), teams did not have official nicknames this lead to the newspapers changing what they called teams every few years. Since the Chicago baseball club had an unusual number of very young athletes, this leads to them being called the “orphans” for a few years. Chicago had a huge orphan dilemma at the moment so people didn’t bother for the nickname, so the newspapers began calling them the “cubs”(baby bears).

The Cubs organization started out life as the Chicago White Stockings (a name that was later appropriated by the cross-town rival Chicago White Sox) and changed its name to the Chicago Colts in 1890 because of the relative youthfulness of the team. When the owner refused to renew the contract of the team manager, Cap Anson, in 1898, the club became known as the ‘Orphans’ and remained so for three years.

Orphans is a pretty odd name for a team, a new nickname was sure to emerge before too long – and after the dismal season of 1901, the club began a rebuilding project, using rookies and other young players. Check out the most amazing collection of Chicago cubs hats and Chicago cubs shirts.

A few years later the National league picked teams that required to have official nicknames as some towns were preparing 2 or 3 teams( earlier each team was called [city name] baseball club) so the “Chicago baseball club” officially stuck with “Chicago Cubs “.
