In this video a 12 year old girl, Briana, is struggling with morbid obesity. She weighs over 300 pounds. She has been told that being this overweight will affect her health. She also feels very self-conscious about her weight and is bullied by her classmates. Briana’s parents express concern about her health as well. When her mother is interviewed about what food she serves the family she appears to be very interested in making any necessary changes. A trip to the market to find out what she purchases for family meals reveals that she does not seem to know what would be best to prepare for Briana so she can lose weight. Briana’s mother appears to be “stuck” on buying what she thinks are healthy foods which includes canned vegetables and very little fresh fruit and vegetables.

Describe how Briana’s mother should change meal preparations to be healthier. Describe strategies that might engage Briana in the process of preparing the meals.

You are required to write 3 critiques about 3 different kinds of events during the entire semester. You will be submitting critique no. 1 here by the due date January 24th (11:59pm)

The  critique needs to be at least 200 words, double space, which fits one page. Correct spelling, grammar and correct punctuation counts. (see critique guidelines for format example)

As you describe the visual art, you will use at least 5 vocabulary words (from the ones we have studied or others you may know). (in the round, relief, media, hue are examples of what we learned).

You may not repeat an art form (for example if you did a painting  for a previous critique, you cannot do another painting except for the extra credit critique which can be on any art form).

What to critique? Live activities such as plays (theater), concerts (classical or jazz), visual art works (painting, sculptures, etc.) or analyze a building (architecture).

Note: Due to the coronavirus situation, you can choose an art work or a performance from an online source. For music, do not use contemporary music, classical and jazz are preferred (Broadway shows are acceptable). For performances, look for videos recorded “live” so that you can still experience some of the live components.

You work as the senior network engineer for a medium size organization. The company has offices in Miami and Los Angeles. The network as now has connectivity between locations. Many interoffice phone calls are placed between locations each day, and the organization realizes that it is spending a very large sum on a monthly basis for communication. Your boss approaches you. He wants you to research a solution that will eliminate the toll charges to the company and still allow for data communication across the wide area network (WAN).

Research a solution and explain your findings in a 2–3-page document. Utilizing the online library, the Internet, and all course materials, complete the following:

Supporting Analysis

A 300 word response must be posted to the discussion forum. 

For each discussion, you are required to write an initial post (300 words) and one secondary post (200 words).  The discussion forums will be worth 40 points apiece—25 points for the initial post and 15 points for the secondary post.  For your initial post, you must have two academic peer-reviewed articles for references. 

 All discussions must be completed on-time and must include in-text citations and references in APA style formatting. If you do not use in-text citations or they are not in APA format you will lose 3 points.  If you do not have references or if they are not in APA format, you will lose 5 points. (You do not need citations and references for secondary posts).

 You will lose 10% based on word count if your posts are too short.  For example, your initial post is 300 words, if you have 250 words you will lose 5 points.  50 words short times 10% (50 x .10 = 5).

 If any part of your post is copied and pasted (ANY POST), you will receive a “0”.  I will not ask you about it and you will not have a chance to resubmit the post

Understanding descriptive statistics, their measures of center and their variability, helps form the foundation of statistical analysis. Descriptive statistics tell us how frequently an observation occurs, what is considered average, and how far data in our sample deviate from being average. With these statistics, we are able to provide a summary of characteristics from both large and small datasets. Measures of central tendency and variability provide valuable information on their own, and form the cornerstone of the quantitative structures that we build in our research studies.

Find and record the pulse rate of 10 different people where you work. Tell us a little about the population from which you drew your data. Describe your findings in terms of central tendency and variability.

Consider using some of the following to help you form your initial discussion post:

What are your measures of central tendency (mean (65), median (68), and mode (64-most frequent data)? Which might be the better measure for central tendency and why? (Mode is the better & closer measurement because 64 was mostly measure)

What is the standard deviation of your data? How variable are the data (range)? (range is 56-78)

-Interquartile range 62-64

Are there any outliers? (the 23 year old with pulse of 56- possibly the most conditioned heart) Investigate possible reasons for these outliers, and things that might limit them if further study were to be carried out.

What are some variables that should be considered in discussing your measures of central tendency and variation? Is there any skewness in your measured data?
