Community Needs Assessment

THE COMMUNITY IS ATLANTA , GA. THE NEED IS PUBLIC FEEDING.

Community Needs Assessment

As a human services leader, you have expertise in your community and have a sense of services and programs that it may need. While you may notice trends and changes, a more structured approach to gathering and analyzing this information will be required if you hope to launch a new program to address a need. In this paper, you will identify a perceived unmet need in your local community and use it to present a proposed community needs assessment and its projected results.

You will identify the various components of the community needs assessment and their contributions to the process. To provide a visual graphic of your community needs assessment, you will create a logic model, presenting the various components and how they interact with one another. Since human services leaders need to maintain ethical standards and be attentive to diversity, both of these content areas should be integrated into your community needs assessment design.

Instructions

Write a 4–5 page paper identifying a social problem that is perceived as an unmet need in your local community. Utilizing this topic as context, design a proposed community needs assessment and its projected results. Present the components of community needs assessment and a preliminary application. Highlight issues of ethics, as well as diversity and inclusion.

These ideas are to be communicated in the narrative along with a graphic representation. Create a logic model, which is a specific type of flowchart for graphically presenting this information, to demonstrate your understanding of community needs assessment. Include your logic model as an appendix to your paper.

Be sure to address the following in your paper:

  • Present a social problem that appears to be an unmet need in your local community.
  • Propose a community needs assessment regarding potential programming to address this social problem.
  • Discuss how the community needs assessment addresses accessibility and cultural sensitivity to promote inclusion of diverse populations.
  • Project some community needs assessment results, based on your research in the required readings and other reputable sources.

Support your paper with the required readings and other reputable sources.

Submission Requirements

To complete this assignment successfully, your paper will need to meet the following specifications:

  • Page length: Write a 4–5 page paper.
  • Communication: Use professional academic writing and apply current APA format and style appropriately.

Responds to questions

Answers should be at least 200-300 words and reflect critical thought. Whenever possible, please try to relate the course content to real-world applications from your work experience. Be sure to cite all sources as well.

1. You make a good point regarding assessing adults in stages rather than ages acknowledges the shift in aging that is taking place as older adults continue to work or return to school to develop another career to carry through the remainder of life. Societal changes are also a contributing factor — financially, it is increasingly a necessity for older folks to continue working as wages fail to track the increase in expenses. Question:  do you (and others) see this trend as an advocacy issue?

Responds to class mate post:

2. I think that it is the responsible stage when we as adults get to the age where we may have to assume the responsibility of others.  This is one of the stages where our parents are getting older and they may be I’ll and we are actually facing the mortality of our loved one’s  we may have to decide to place a parent in our home, allow them to live on their own, or face the fact that our family member may need round the clock care and must be placed in assisted living or even a nursing home.  I found myself in this situation as I cared for my grandmother. When she was about 87 she was diagnosed with spindle cell carcinoma which began as a knot on her arm and it had to be removed.  I would go over and bathe her and take care of her.  One day I noticed another knot under her arm.  I asked her of she had told my mother.  She said no but she would tell her when she was ready. After 6 weeks, it was apparent that the cancer was back.  She still had not said anything to my mom.  I had to make the decision and tell her and then my mom had to move her in their home.  For 6 months we cared for my dad and grandmother that were both terminally ill.   I found myself assuming responsibility and staying strong for my mother.  Being someone she could count on.

mid term (AVD)

It’s time for the results. For this assignment, your assignment objective is completely different. You are not creating or writing a planning document. You must use the objective and data in the instructions for the midterm assessment. I highly encourage you to work through the information provided in R and RStudio, Units 1 – 5 before working on this project. You are responsible for submitting 2 items, a paper and an R script file. Midterm Assessment Instructions Midterm Assessment Instructions – Alternative FormatsPaper

  • Your figures will not contain any other part of RStudio. Do not include images of programming code, nor programming code in your paper. That information is only needed in the R script you submit. This is not a ‘how-to’ in R.
  • When you document your work in your paper, provide an interpretation of every figure in your paper. Label every figure with the word “Figure” and a numeric index, like Figure 1, followed by Figure 2. Keep your figures left-align. When you provide your interpretations, make sure to include what figure you are referring to. For example, “Shown in Figure 1, there is” or your interpretation, followed by “(see Figure 1).” When documented this way, it’s similar to the formatting of a citation, within the confines of parentheses, and within the ending punctuation. The figure annotation is in bold letters. the following line is the title of the figure; it is in italics and not bolded. These both will be entered as text in your paper, not included with the visualization in R.
  • All figures in the paper must be key findings. There should be many more visualizations in the programming than there are in the paper.
  • When providing your interpretations use real words. Don’t use the capitalization shown in the variable names, nor the variables names, unless it is also a word. For example, population represents both a real word and a variable. However, median_household_income is not a word, it is only a variable name and should not be found in your paper. You can refer to the data in this field with the words median household income, without the underscore, or you could define that income represents median household income, than just refer to it as income.

Script file

  • This file should contain everything needed to run the file. If there were steps taken from the original data set and it was modified in the previous homework submission, include that programming code in this script file. All libraries should still be found in one place, near the top of the script file, after the leading comments required in every script file.
  • The programming should include the questions you posed to yourself that led your visualizations in the comments.
  • You will more visualizations in your programming than your paper. If you find that a visualization is not meaningful, you can annotate that in comments in your programming, but don’t include that visualization in your paper.
  • Don’t leave incomplete programming code in your script file.
  • You may receive an warning when you submit your work. This warning indicates that R script files are not automatically checked by SafeAssign. This is not an error and is not preventing your submission.

Consider the guidelines, suggestions, and other tips provided in previous assignments. All of that still applies here. If you have any questions, please send me an email. When you document this information, you will need to write it as a paper. This is not a blog, a discussion, or a short answer paper. You will need to include an introduction, a topic sentence, supporting paragraphs, and a conclusion. Not great at writing? Go to Start Here in the main menu and look at the resources available to you. Make sure that you document your work using the standards of APA 7. To help with formatting use the  APA 7 Student Paper template. Lymphatic discussion board

Introduction: The lymphatic system is a network of tissues and organs that help rid the body of toxins, waste, and other unwanted substances. The primary function of the lymphatic system is to transport lymph, a fluid containing infection-fighting white blood cells, throughout the body.

For this post, you will:

  1. Pick an organ and explain which lymph node region would be most likely, if any, for primary cancer in that organ to show lymph node involvement.
  2. Relate one part of the anatomy of a lymph node to the potential for a cancer cell from your organ to be recognized by a white blood cell. Anatomical parts of the lymph node include: numbers of specific types of white blood cells, amount or type of connective tissue fibers, trabeculae, numbers of afferent or efferent vessels, sinuses, nodules, lymph presence.
  3. In addition to lymph nodes, the lymphatic system also has many vessels (from smaller collecting vessels through ducts) and other lymphoid tissues (e.g., MALT, tonsils, thymus, spleen). Pick one of these. If you picked a lymphatic vessel, compare it to an analogous blood vessel (provide the name of the blood vessel, for example, the jugular vein or an arteriole) anatomically. If you picked a lymphoid tissue, compare its structure to a lymph node.
