Both the theme and the technological infrastructure to carry out the theme are important concepts and tools that the event planner must understand to be successful. The theme ties together the disparate aspects of the event production using the overall vision for the event. The event production includes the lighting, the audiovisual technology, and other means of communicating the intent of the client.

Topic: Event Theme, Lighting, and Technology

A well-thought-out and planned theme is essential to an event, so much so that it establishes the expectations of the audience, builds excitement, and heightens anticipation. Event planners use themes to connect the audience to the experience. Theme development begins with the purpose of the event and the client’s expected outcome. These can be intertwined with the invitations, food, and site to meet the needs and objectives of the event.

You practiced with theme concepts in the learning activity. Now you will apply your understanding of these concepts and creative thinking to a scenario in preparation for the assignment.

Scenario: Given the following information, respond to the questions below the scenario.

The association’s goal is to educate their members on professional conduct and practices.

The theme is “Magnifying Professionalism.” The theme is meant to allow professionals to see themselves professionally, the way others do.

Theme development: The entrance to the training section of the venue will have an oversized magnifying glass, which attendees will walk through to enter the training room.

  • How else could you envision this theme playing out? Be creative!
  • How will this theme relate to the corporate goal?
  • What technology will be involved in carrying out the theme? Explain.
  • How will the theme impact the lighting for the event?
  • How do your suggestions apply Pine and Gilmore’s (1999) theme principles as seen in your learning activity?

Describe the difference between a nursing practice problem and a medical practice problem.

1 postsRe: Topic 1 DQ 1

A nursing practice problem is one where a problem arises after the care is given to patient and this practice focuses on the patient as a whole, (Helbig, J., 2018). An example would be of acute pain. A patient may suffer from acute pain after a certain procedure which requires intervention. Care plans are developed to help the patient manage whatever problem they are facing, (Helbig, J., 2018). Another example is a care plan is developed for a patient who has hypertension. The nursing practice helps develop of care plan such as for meal planning.

A medical practice problem is one where a problem arises during the actual care, the management of medication which requires the right medications, checking of labs, and understanding their injury, illness, or disease. Medical practice problem focuses on the disease, illness, or injury by using medications or certain procedures such as surgery or therapy. The goal for the patient is to manage the disease, illness, or injury, (Harman King, R., & Baum, N., 2018).

PICOT stands for patient, intervention, comparison, outcome, and time. If a problem arises during patient care and is noted by a nurse, nurses are able to use evidence-based practice to allow correction by applying PICOT to support their evidence-based practice. Nurses use evidence-based practice to provide the best possible outcome safely and to improve the outcome by providing quality care, (Helbig, J., 2018).

Using 200-300 words APA FORMAT with references to support this discussion.

Describe the difference between a nursing practice problem and a medical practice problem. Provide one example of each. Discuss why is it important to ensure your PICOT is based on a nursing practice problem.

Poster Presentation on the Relationship of  Research to Practice

Overview:

Evidence-based practice (EBP) involves the implementation of best practices based on theory, supported by research, expertise, and patient preferences.

Objective: Timely application of research evidence in patient care is of significant importance. In this assignment, you will demonstrate your understanding of the connection between theory and how it is supported by rigorous research to become evidence-based practice and transitioned to patient care.

Directions:

Upload your Poster, one PowerPoint Slide, to Turnitin by the deadline provided in the course calendar.

1) Select a current nursing practice or procedure.  You can use a practice or procedure from your daily work environment.

· Find research studies that support the procedure or practice. The key term here is research studies.

· Find at least 2 research studies  or one meta-analysis or systematic review that support the practice or procedure. Supporting EBP requires a high level of evidence from research. Refer to the Evidence Hierarchy on page 131 of your textbook and look for studies from the higher levels.  A good place to start would be the Cochran Collection in the library database. Journal articles on the topic can provide expert opinion to support EBP. These are a lower-level of evidence in the hierarchy of evidence but are often valid. Your supporting literature DOI or URL must lead to your resources to be counted.  Check your DOI or URL carefully. Hanging indents and double spacing are not required for this assignment.

2) Proper APA format is required for citations and references including the DOI for articles from the library. Double spacing and hanging indents are NOT required for this assignment.

3) Create one Poster on a single PowerPoint slide with the following information:

· Topic Title, Your name, and Credentials

· Discuss the relationship between the research available and the practice you have selected. Topic Ex: PICC lines, Decubitus care, Tube feedings, VAP bundle, CAUTI, etc

· How have you experienced the use of research in your practice?  Avoid HIPAA violations.

4) Upload your Poster in the submission link.

This activity is worth 5% of your total grade.  You can expect individual feedback 72-hrs from the closing of the assignment.

Reflective essay #1

This reflection essay should be in an informal writing style and will serve as a comparison and a reflexive exercise that you can look back on as you leave the course. Please cite any sources you use, including your textbook, in APA 7th edition format.

Also, this reflection essay will give me, as your instructor, a chance to know more about what you find important about the topic of sexual health.

Before completing the reflection essay, please review the course description from the syllabus (listed below), Chapters 1, 2, and 9 in your Crooks and Baur (2017) textbook, and the journal article “Five Strategies to Combat Unconscious Bias” by (Bucknor-Ferron and Zagaja 2021).

Course Description:

“Physical, emotional, social, and psychological dimensions of human sexuality; interpersonal relationships; contemporary attitudes, values, and behaviors; sexuality as a positive health entity.”

In at least 500 words total, please answer the following questions:

1. Based on the course description, what do you expect to learn in this course, and what sexual health topics do you find particularly relevant or interesting?

2. Since I am the only one reading this essay, I want to give you a chance to speak your mind about any topicthat you found controversial in your Chapter 1, 2, and 9 readings. What did you find controversial and why?

3. If you are a health educator dealing with a controversial topic related to sex, what are some professional guidelines/tips that you will use to manage your own reactions and effectively do your job in a professional manner? For example, how would you acknowledge your own potential for unconscious bias and maintain a non-judgemental attitude when dealing with people who have different opinions, values, and beliefs than your own? Why could this be hard for you to do when handling a controversial subject such as sex? At the same time, why is being personally aware important when working with a diverse public? Use the journal article (Bucknor-Ferron and Zagaja 2021) for help, and please cite any sources that you use in APA 7th edition format.

4. What is a topic in Chapters 1, 2, or 9,  respectively, that you found really important to continue to address? Why was this topic so interesting and important to you?

Assignment

For Essay 2, you will write an essay that compares and/or contrasts. Your essay’s focus needs to be on theme and setting and/or characterization; your essay’s focus will depend on which prompt you choose.

(The lessons in Unit 2 will walk you through how to write this essay. Carefuly review all the content in this unit first before writing the essay.)

You may choose one of the following prompts:

1. Compare/contrast Mary in “Lamb to the Slaughter” to one of the women in “A Jury of Her Peers” (Minnie Foster, Mrs. Hale, or Mrs. Peters — or possibly all three), paying particular attention to theme as well as setting and/or characterization, and make an argument about justice and the role of gender.

2. Compare/contrast the parent/child relationships in “Everyday Use” and “Marriage Is a Private Affair,” paying particular attention to theme as well as setting and/or characterization, and make an argument about the conflicts that can exist between generations.

3. Compare and/or contrast the grandmother in “A Good Man Is Hard to Find” and Mathilde in “The Necklace,”  paying particular attention to theme as well as setting and/or characterization, and make an argument about the pitfalls of pride.

Again, Unit 2 will cover, in detail, how to write a comparison/contrast essay. In brief, “an essay in comparison and contrast shows how two works are similar to and different from each other” (Abcarian and Klotz 57).

For this particular essay, you must demonstrate your understanding of characterization, setting, and/or theme, which we will also cover in this unit.

Your essay must be between 750-1000 words and adhere to MLA formatting. It needs to quote directly from your chosen text(s) for support, but it should not use any secondary research.

Keep in mind that the comparison/contrast essay should not just summarize the story or stories, nor should it just state how two things are alike and/or different: the essay should move beyond that and also present an original opinion or argument based on those similarities/differences, as you see them.

Art

This assignment normally requires for you to visit an original artwork in person.

However, this is no longer a requirement. You may do this same assignment using any work from THE GOOGLE ART PROJECT (Links to an external site.)

For the image requirements for this paper please submit a screen shot (feel free to crop the image) of the artwork you chose from THE GOOGLE ART PROJECT. You can also download an image from another website to illustrate your paper, but please remember to cite the source of the image in your works cited page.

REQUIREMENTS:

1) Print off these instructions and the Formal Analysis Worksheet before you go.

2) Perform a detailed formal analysis of a single work of art WHILE YOU ARE IN FRONT OF THE WORK.

      a) This is an exercise in looking.  Therefore, any discussion of the artist’s biography, historical context, or your personal experience will not be counted towards the word count.

      b) Your essay should include a discussion of all the elements and principles listed in the Formal Analysis Guide

Actions.  Each element and each principle should be addressed using three sentences. You discussion of each element or each element may discuss one example in depth, or several examples. For example, you might use three sentences to discuss the color in a figure’s shirt, or you might identify the artist’s use of color in three different places.

      c)  To organize your essay, your overall argument and conclusion should address how the artists used the principle of emphasis.

      d) Your essay should be 1000-1500 words. Use APA or MLA format.

3)  Turn in an image of the artwork with your essay.

4) Not required: Turn in a picture of yourself in front of the artwork or the museum as proof of having visited.

5) Compositional Design. A compositional design is the student’s visual expression of how the elements and principles work in a specific work of art. No two students will ever have the same compositional design on the same painting. For an example of a compositional design for the painting Las Meninas, see 1.10.12c on p. 185 in your textbook. As you can see, a compositional design is not a recreation of the work of art, but instead it shows the relationships between the elements and principles and emphasizes the ones that are most important.
