Sibling abuse has only recently started receiving scholarly attention, though it is the most common type of family violence (Wallace & Roberson, 2017). Abuse and aggression by children towards caregivers is less common, but still prevalent in that 51% of juveniles adjudicated for domestic assault have victimized a parent or caregiver (Hong, Kral, Espelage, & Allen-Meares, 2012). Parricide, caregiver homicide committed by adolescent or adult children, is the least frequent of all, with adult children making up the clear majority of these perpetrators (Malmquist, 2010).

Forensic psychology professionals in numerous roles are often faced with investigating family violence, conducting risk assessments, and making recommendations to the court for service delivery plans for perpetrators and victims. In this Assignment, you analyze knowledge about the features of family members who are typically involved as perpetrators, victims, or both in each type of family violence covered this week. You also analyze similarities and differences in these features. You then propose a plan to gather additional knowledge about one of the three types of family violence.

To prepare for this Assignment:

Read the Learning Resources about sibling abuse, caregiver abuse, and parricide. Identify re-occurring themes across these types of family violence and ways in which they differ. Identify the type of family violence among these three that most interests you and outline a plan to gather more information that you believe would assist a forensic psychology professional in recognizing and intervening in this form of family violence.

Over the course of the next eight weeks, we will be examining concepts related to nursing research and the translation of evidence to practice. To help you better understand the process, you will be identifying a practice issue for nurse practitioners. You will develop a PICOT question associated with the issue, find evidence to support a change in practice, and present your recommendations for change to your peers. This week, we will work on helping you refine your area of interest so that you will be able to develop a concise question for next week’s assignment. You are encouraged to use the area of interest you chose for the project in NR500NP and/or NR501NP; however, you may choose a different area if you wish.

Select an issue in nurse practitioner (NP) practice that is of interest to you and in which you would like to see a practice change occur. Conduct a review of literature to see what is currently known about the topic. In 1-2 paragraphs, describe the scope and relevance of the issue and your recommended change. Provide reference support from at least two outside scholarly sources to support your ideas.

1. Application of Course Knowledge: The student post contributes unique perspectives or insights gleaned from personal experience or examples from the healthcare field. The student must accurately and fully discuss the topic for the week in addition to providing personal or professional examples. The student must completely answer the entire initial question.

   1. Peer Response: The student responds substantively to at least one topic-related post by a student peer. A substantive post adds content or insights or asks a question that will add to the learning experience and/or generate discussion.

      • The peer response must occur before Sunday, 11:59 p.m. MT.
      • The peer response does not require a scholarly citation and reference unless the information is paraphrased and/or direct quotes are used, in which APA style standards then apply.
   2. Faculty Response: The student responds substantively to at least one question by course faculty. The faculty question may be directed to the student, to another student, or to the entire class.

In this assignment, you will propose a quality improvement initiative from your place of employment that could easily be implemented if approved. Assume you are presenting this program to the board for approval of funding. Write an executive summary (750-1,000 words) to present to the board, from which the board will make its decision to fund your program or project. Include the following:

1. The purpose of the quality improvement initiative.
2. The target population or audience.
3. The benefits of the quality improvement initiative.
4. The interprofessional collaboration that would be required to implement the quality improvement initiative.

In this study, the researchers are investigating the role of age, attractiveness, and masculinity in mating.

The researchers hypothesized that attractive women prefer and enter in relationships with older partners, and masculine men prefer and enter in relationships with younger attractive partners. To assess attractiveness and masculinity, the researchers examined 55 couple’s photographs to measure markers of biological quality such as symmetry and averageness. To assess age, they used birth records. The data were consistent with their hypothesis: Attractive women had husbands who were relatively older than themselves, and masculine men had attractive wives who were relatively younger than themselves. This study is relevant to our research question because we are investigating the relationship between attractiveness and mate selection in online dating. We now know that hetero males prefer attractive younger mates for reproductive reasons and attractive hetero females prefer older mates for stability and security reasons.
