Introduction
You have arrived at the third part of the Course Project. This week you will submit a thesis statement and an annotated bibliography of at least five sources that you will use in your paper.

Here is a brief breakdown of the project so that you can plan your time in the course:

    • These are sources that provide evidence to support that your claim should be accepted by the reader.
    • Scholarly sources are preferred and should be used where available; due to the nature of some of the topics, authoritative articles in very high quality substantive journals may also be acceptable.

project 2-bmgt496

Project 2 is due Tuesday at 11:59 p.m. eastern time of Week 6.

Purpose:  In this project, you will assess marketing from a business perspective.  Specifically, you will complete research and use the course material to discuss a product, brand or industry, discuss how the product is suited to marketing of a particular company.  You will also learn about the responsibilities of marketers in relation to ethics.

Outcomes met by completing this project:

1. identify ethical issues that arise in domestic and global business environments using an understanding of ethical concepts and of legal and business principles

How to Set Up the Paper

Create a Word or Rich Text Format (RTF) document that is double-spaced, 12-point font.  The final product will be between 6-8 pages in length excluding the title page and reference page.  Write clearly and concisely.

Instructions:

The five “conceptions of a consumer” presents a framework for examining and organizing the purchase decision process of consumers. Thus, the framework presents an opportunity to examine the responsibility of the marketer to consider the ethical ramifications to its consumer base, i.e. Corporate Social Responsibility.  The following 5 conceptions are defined and explained in the Business Ethics Workshop, eBook, Chapter 12.

1. The wary consumer

2. The contracting consumer

3. The protected consumer

4. The renegade consumer

5. The capable consumer

Course Material and Research

This project requires you to do research on the Internet.  You are expected to use course material going beyond defining terms.  You are expected to explain the ‘why and how’ of a situation.  Avoid merely making statements but close the loop of the discussion by explaining how something happens or why something happens, which focuses on importance and impact.  In closing the loop, you will demonstrate the ability to think clearly and rationally showing an understanding of the logical connections between the course material and the question(s) being asked.  Using one or two in-text citations from the course material throughout the entire paper will not earn many points on the assignment.  The support must be relevant and applicable to the topic being discussed.  Points are not earned for mentioning a term or concept but by clearly and thoroughly explaining or discussing the question at hand.

Your Role

As consumers we can define our attitudes and acceptance or rejection of advertising based upon our perceptions and experience.  But as students of Business Management, we are called upon to examine the topic more in depth and from a corporate perspective.  Project 2 will address the following questions from the perspective of a business owner or chief marketing officer.

Health promotion assignment due Thursday

Remember! This DB has 3-parts. Part 1 is due on Thursday @ 11:59 PM and parts 2 & 3 are due on Sunday @ 11:59 PM.

Part 1: We see all around us health information. In commercials (do you still watch those??), public health campaigns, as as well social media. With the proliferation of social media, we may have greater exposure to health information. However, not all information that is shared is credible and accurate. It’s important that accurate information is shared by credible sources. Social media is increasingly being used by scientists, educators, and public health experts to disseminate evidence-based health information.

For this discussion board, I’d like you to explore health information and health education discussions posted on social media from health teachers, school nurses, or other school health educators. You may reference any social media such as Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, YouTube, or Facebook. Make sure to focus on accounts that are focused on sharing and discussing health education (not just an account from someone who happens to be a health education teacher or school nurse).

As you explore content posted by health teachers, school nurses, or other school health educators consider the following:

  • What seems to be a top priority for them based on the content they create & share?
  • How are they engaging with their audience (i.e., what seems to be their intent)? For example, are they seeking to educate a certain audience, seeking to connect & engage with other health educators, and/or advocate for certain issues they feel are important?
  • What are your thoughts about the quality of information that they share?
  • What are your thoughts about the quality of the content they create (e.g., style, formatting, appeal, accessibility, and how understandable you found the material)? You might also comment on the creator’s following & engagement if you deem it necessary.
  • If the educator/teacher/nurse shares the following information, please include it when discussing their post(s): their title, where they work, and what grade level(s).

Select 2-3 specific posts to provide (include as links or screenshots – depending on the content) as examples for your readers (me & your peers) to refer to as you share your thoughts.

Part 2:

  1. Watch the short videos of educators found in Module 2 Learning Activities section.
  2. Compare and contrast what you learned from your exploration of health teachers in social media and what you heard from the teachers in the videos
  3. Describe how you could integrate what you heard, saw, and experienced from your exploration and videos into your own classroom to teach students about Life Skills, Stress Management, or Media Literacy Skills as described in the book. (be sure to use specific references and examples)
  4. What is going to be your biggest challenge for teaching Life Skills, Stress Management, or Media Literacy Skills? What questions do you have about teaching these topics?

-A reflective essay is a type of paper that showcases your individuality, actions, and impacts on what you have learned, read and researched throughout the time period required. In the end, by reading your reflective essay, the audience finds out details about what you learned from the material you interacted with. As opposed to different types of papers you may have written in the past, a reflective essay is not based on certainties or examinations. Instead, it focuses on your personality and how it fit with the information within the lessons. It does not focus on any one traits, theory or lesson, it briefly discusses all that was learned.
