Dion is an engineer with Tesla Motors who helps to design electric motors.

Instructions

This project is due on Tuesday of Week 7 at 11:59 p.m. eastern time.

Case Scenario

Dion is an engineer with Tesla Motors who helps to design electric motors. It has always been his dream to start his own business, but as he has gotten older, he has not gotten around to it. He is also an avid cyclist who rides near his home in Palo Alto, California. It is hilly terrain and as he has gotten older, he has found it more difficult to navigate the steep terrain. https://blog.keenessays.com/2021/06/30/consider-various-human-rights-groups-in-history-and-in-the-present-civil-rights-movement-in-the-60s-lgbt-rights-womens-voting-rights-black-lives-matter-etc/ He has thought about buying an electric bike that would give him an additional boost with an electric motor. However, he has not been satisfied with any of the many brands of electric bikes he can find. The ones that work well are astronomically expensive and the less expensive models are poorly constructed and have short battery life.

One day at Tesla headquarters, Dion is having lunch with three of his colleagues when he raises his frustration with his inability to find the right electric bike. The other three are also avid cyclists, so they launch into an intense discussion. https://perfectwriterblog.com/education-homework-help/describe-the-difference-between-qualitative-and-quantitative-research-discuss-what-type-of-research-reveals-better-outcomes-and-why/ Mark, who works in Tesla’s marketing department, thinks that there is a demand for a high-quality electric bike at a reasonable cost. “There are social trends that could drive that demand,” he says. “First, commuting by bicycle is becoming more popular, and many who are new to it need that extra assistance to make it a comfortable experience. Also, as the population ages, older cyclists are looking for ways to keep cycling as much as they did when they were younger. An electric bike could help them do that.”

Dion responds that some of the new electric motor technologies he has been working on could be repurposed to create a high-quality electric bike at a reasonable cost. “I have been experimenting with some designs, and I think it is workable.” Rosalinda, who manages production of the Tesla Model S interjects, “You know, I came across a defunct bicycle factory about 20 miles north of here when we were looking at potential sites for expansion. It would be perfect to manufacture the bike you are describing.”

Dion can’t hold back any longer and blurts out, “Let’s start our own bicycle company and make this bike!” Sandra, who works in the finance department, scrunches up her face and says, “Whoa there, partner. Where is the money for this venture going to come from? https://perfectwriterblog.com/education-homework-help/in-this-discussion-evaluate-the-pros-and-cons-of-a-move-from-nova-scotia-to-sierra-leone/ While our salaries and stock options have made us comfortable, we don’t have the resources to manufacture and market this bike.”

The group agrees that they would love to start a new company, but they must figure out how to solve the finance problem that Sandra pointed out in order to do so. Later that day, Dion can’t get the idea out of his mind. Then, a potential solution comes to him. He remembers Brenda Zhang, who rode with one of his cycling groups, Palo Altitude. She is a partner in a large venture capital firm that invests in promising start-ups. Dion isn’t sure if she even remembers him, and she only knew him as a cyclist, not an engineer. But he thinks it’s worth a try.

He sends the following email:

Re: Electric Bicycle Start-Up

Several of my colleagues at Tesla and I have come up with a new design for an electric bicycle that would be relatively inexpensive, very efficient, as well as durable. I know this is coming out of the blue, but I am hoping you will remember me from our rides with the Palo Altitude group. We are looking for start-up funding, and I thought a fellow cyclist like you would see the potential market for a high-quality, inexpensive electric bicycle. Please let me know what you think.

Later that day, he is surprised to find the following email in his inbox:

Re: Electric Bicycle Start-Up

Of course, I remember you, Dion. You were always at the head of the pack in our rides. I am intrigued by your idea and would like to set-up a meeting to discuss it. I need to start doing my homework on the venture to see whether I and my partners are https://perfectwriterblog.com/education-homework-help/what-are-robert-j-sternbergs-in-construct-validation-of-a-triangular-love-scale-three-components-of-intimate-relationships/ willing to provide funding. In preparation for our meeting, I would like you to prepare a memo that addresses the following issues:

  • Why do you think you can create a successful start-up? What traits will you need to be an entrepreneur?
  • What kind of leadership style would you use, and why?
  • Describe your product and why you think there is a market for it.
  • What legal form do you think best suits your start-up and why?
  • What kind https://perfectwriterblog.com/education-homework-help/using-the-family-teacher-perspectives-reframing-activity-you-will-evaluate-each-situation-and-complete-each-of-the-columns-identifying-the-teachers-perspective/ of financial document should you provide so that I can evaluate the viability of your start-up?
  • What are the characteristics of your target market?
  • Explain specific types of marketing the business should pursue.
  • What other sources of funding might be available for you, whether or not we invest in your start-up?
  • How would you organize your management team, and who in your group would lead each function in the organization?
  • What brand name do you propose for your electric bike, and why did you choose it?

Please send this to me by next week, at least a day before our meeting. I look forward to our discussion.

You are a good friend of Dion’s. He respects you for your degree in Business and Management and your good business sense. Dion feels inadequate in the details of business and asks you to draft the requested memo for him.

Final Research Project (25%)

Final Research Project (25%)

Your final project will demonstrate the knowledge you accumulated from the course and your ability to apply criminological theory. Through your research proposal, you identified a social problem to which you will apply criminological theory. A reminder that this social problem should be within the subject area of criminology and could be a particular type of crime, a specific criminal event, a response to crime, or an established trend you have observed. Some examples of social problems you may use theory to explain are domestic violence, sex work, violent crime, youthful offenders, sexual offending, gangs, property offences, graffiti, distracted or impaired driving, crimes against the environment, kidnapping, white-collar or corporate crime, accused with mental illnesses or brain injuries, financial abuse and neglect of elders, child abduction, and drug-related offending. You could choose to use theory to discuss preventative (i.e. early childhood education) or reactive (i.e. probation) approaches to crime. Or you might examine policy related to the criminalization (or lack of criminalization) of particular behaviour, such as the decriminalization of marijuana, through a theoretical lens. A more extensive list of topics is below.

You will investigate your topic to determine the status and/or scope of the issue in Canada (or within a province or city), who is impacted and how (remember to consider victims, communities, and governments in this discussion), and what some common responses are to that problem. Using one specific theory you have examined through this course, you will attempt to understand the social problem you selected and, if applicable, the social response to it.

You will already have a research question and outline from the research proposal you submitted in Module 8. Build on this proposal and the feedback provided from your Open Learning Faculty Member to write this final research project.

Instructions

· Your paper will be 10–12 pages (not including title and reference pages). Use double-spaced, 12 point font and APA format.

· Integrate your Open Learning Faculty Member’s feedback from your research proposal when writing this paper.

· Use a minimum of five academic sources (i.e. books or articles in scholarly journals such as Criminology, Social Problems, Journal on Prisoners and Prisons, Justice Quarterly and Contemporary Justice Review). These sources must be outside of the reading materials assigned for this course. You may also include articles in major newspapers and government reports, although these do not count towards the five sources.

· Proofread carefully for correct grammar and spelling.

Structure

Here is a suggested structure for your research project:

5. Introduction—include a clear thesis statement, an overview of your paper, and an explanation of why your topic is important

6. Literature Review—an overview of recent, reputable academic literature related to your topic

7. Body

a. Describe the social problem/policy/program/strategy: Provide a detailed and complete description, and as much of the history and background as you can.

b. Critical Assessment of Theoretical and Ideological Underpinnings: What criminological theory or theories can be applied to explain the social problem or criminal justice issue you are looking at? What are the major assumptions and concepts related to the theory? Who are the major authors that contributed to the development of the theory? What are the strengths and weaknesses of this theory in relation to your topic?

c. Research Evidence: Assess the research evidence related to your topic. What does the research tell us?

d. Critical Evaluation: Given the theory and research with relation to your topic, what recommendations would you have for policymakers? Here you might explore possible alternatives to deal with the social problem based on different theories or ideologies.

8. Conclusion—summary of what was learned through your research project

Creating a Concept Map

Assignment: Creating a Concept Map

This Assignment, due by Day 7 of Week 5, provides an opportunity to deepen your understanding of the conceptual components of a theory. Building on this week’s Discussion, you will build a concept map to express the linkages and interrelationships of the concepts in the middle range theory you have selected.

To prepare:

  • Explore the various concept maps presented in Chapter 7 of The Practice of Nursing Research, as well as the Cooper and Veo articles.
  • Using the information presented in the Learning Resources as a guide, consider the linkages and interrelationships of the conceptual concepts for the theory you identified for this week’s Discussion. What relational statements could be articulated?
By Day 7 of Week 5
  • Create a concept map demonstrating the linkages and interrelationships of the theoretical concepts. Include a clear problem and purpose statement. Express relational statements linking the concepts, literally and diagrammatically. You may use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, or another software application of your choice; however, if you use a product that is not part of the Microsoft Office Suite, you must be able to save it as a PDF or RTF file.
  • Include references from the literature to support your work.

HA 425 Operational Analysis and Quality Improvement

150 words as reply to this post  if in text site use reference and APA(7th Edition)

 Zachery Hadel

Good Afternoon,

In this weeks discussion I will touch base on how operational management theory helps an organization function more smoothly. In my opinion operational management should be thought of maximizing your organizations resources and employing the most effective workforce. You are responsible for the finances, employees and equipment as a healthcare manager. According to www.ais-cpa.com Operations Management Theory (OMT) is the application of several practices with the goal of promoting efficiency in production. Organizations favor operation management theory because it boost the organization’s productivity and return on investment. Essentially it is our job as health care mangers to effectively implement this theory. Without it we lack the principles and know how to  improve the existing processes and make sure our facility is producing high quality patient care with maximum efficiency.

If you apply this to any organization not just healthcare you will see increase in output, quality and opportunity to be more equitable. The way it does this is by is the project manager identifies existing processes and see what day to day operations can be changed to achieve more output. For example wait times or patient encounter times. Sometimes depending on the difficulty of the patients problem the standard 20 minute appointment time is not sufficient. A correction would be to implement a few 40 minute appointment slots and with proper booking have them in that slot to make sure there is no lapse in patient flow. There are many other examples you can apply operational management theories. You just have to see what works in your setting. Do you think there are any road blocks faced when trying to implement new processes and if you think so what would be a few in your opinion?

Submit 2-page reflection paper on the course objectives selected for the service learning experience. Use level one headings from the reflection rubric to write paper. Include in the paper the thoughts and reactions of the presenters and the audience.
