Project #1 – Improve Shipping timeCurrently, 30% of your annual revenue comes from e-commerce direct from the ESD website, but we have found sales stalling this past year.  Several high-ranking executives in the company believe that the reason sales have stalled was due to our speed to ship for in stock items.  It is believed by many in the company that we must compete with Amazon on service.  Currently it takes us and average of 3 days before we have an items ready to ship via parcel courier such as UPS or FedEx Ground.   A survey was done and if we improve the speed and can ship 100% of our in-stock items in the same day, our sales would increase by 20% annually for e-commerce shipments.  Some work has been done, that it will cost us about $4,000,000 up front to improve from 3 days to 0 days (0 days meaning ship same day) to upgrade warehouse shipping systems and add automation to prepare items for shipping that quickly.   Some like this idea except for the fact it only focuses in our 30% of our business being e-commerce direct but that we need to focus on improving all of our sales segments.Project #2 – Add a New Distribution CenterCurrently we ship 100% of our volume from our 1 single distribution Center in Atlanta, GA.  30% of our sales are from e-commerce direct from the EDS website, the other 70% are wholesale and 3rd party resellers of our product that we ship direct to the locations they provide. While the facility has worked well, we would need to expand it in the next few years to keep up with demand.  However, many high-ranking executives believe that we should add 2nd distribution center on the west coast to service the customers on a quicker basis.    If we added a new facility in Reno, NV, we would be able to get to 50% of our customers on the west coast 2-3 days faster.  There are buildings available that we could be in by January 1 of next year.  It would cost of $2,000,000 up front and incremental lease cost of $25,000 per month on a 5-year lease.  There is no incremental operational cost since volume increases and cost structures are the same as Atlanta, GA.  Based on a customer survey, it is believed that the improved service would increase sales by 10% annually if we added this new west coast distribution center.Project #3 – Outsource All Distribution ServicesWe have a proposal for a globally respected major 3rd Party logistics provider that has given an amazing proposal to let them take over all the logistics of distribution.  Their proposal states that they can be up and running on January 1 and we will not miss a single shipment, it’s almost too good to be true from an operational standpoint.  Their offer requires us to spread our inventory to 4 distribution centers around the country but does not require us to carry any more inventory that we currently do today.  They have offered us $1,000,000 cash up front for any expenses we may have in shutting down our operation and moving inventory into their control.  Our analysis shows that would cover all our 1-time expenses with no money left.  After

the analysis they provided, we would reduce our logistics cost equal to 3% of sales, AND, they would ship same day plus shorter in-transit time resulting in sales increase for all our revenue by 9%.  There is one caveat to this agreement, their contract would require that we allow “Assignment of this contract to another 3rd party without the consent of EDS”, meaning that if they bought, sold or company splits off, the service they are providing could be transferred to another company without our approval.  While the opportunity to outsource maybe attractive, some members of the executive team fear we give up too much control of our business and could bankrupt the company if a new company would take over and service declines.

                                                                          the above requirements.

This is the information from week one to get an ideal of what I started on. My product that I came up with is Kitchen stove that’s battery operated. Below is directions of what needs to be included in the paper. The attachment is what I already started writing.

This week, you must select a topic for the marketing plan, and thereafter, all related assignments (the draft in Week 4 and the final marketing plan in Week 8) must be on that same topic. You may not change your marketing plan topic without approval from your instructor.

Your topic must be for a new product (a good or service). Because this is an applied project and not a research paper, please be creative and do not select a new product for a large brand, such as Starbucks, Apple, etc. If you are interested in coffee, for example, consider your own bistro as your topic and then use information from companies like Starbucks or Seattle’s Best Coffee for ideas and competitive research as you work on your project.

The deliverable for Week 1 is to write a two-page description of your product, including the following.

  1. Information about ownership and company structure
  2. A description of product
  3. A mission statement
  4. Marketing goals
  5. Who a typical customer might be

Submit a copy of the Topic Proposal to the Week 1: Course Project Topic Proposal Upload module in Canvas for grading by your instructor.

Assignment 4: Business Continuity Plan

Assignment 4: Business Continuity Plan
Due Week 8 and worth 120 points

The phrase “the show must go on” is perhaps more true in business than in performing arts. Organizations need to be prepared to run continuously regardless of environmental conditions.

For this assessment, imagine that you are the IT manager for the only print shop in a small town in Idaho. The shop is connected to the internet by satellite link. Orders are received via the internet as well as by walk-ins with portable storage drives or smart phones that can transfer files via Bluetooth network.

Write a four to five (4-5) business continuity plan (BCP) in which you:

  1. Identify the organization’s exposure to internal and external threats.
  2. Identify ways that the organization can maintain its risk.
  3. Describe the foreseen security risks.
  4. Assess the importance of training the shop personnel on security risks.
  5. Recommend at least two (2) strategies for continually improving the quality and effectiveness of the BCP.
  6. Analyze the organizational risks inherent in the execution of the BCP plan.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Perform a business impact analysis for a provided scenario.
  • Create a business continuity plan (BCP) based on the findings of a given risk assessment for an organization.
  • Describe the components of an effective organizational risk management program.
  • Use technology and information resources to research issues in IT risk management.
  • Write clearly and concisely about topics related to IT risk management using proper writing mechanics and technical style conventions.

SOCW 6121 Week 11 – Discussion Post – The Ending Stage and Evaluation

Week 11: The Ending Stage and Evaluation

The ending stage of a group is just as important as the beginning stage. Effective termination is an important part of the therapeutic process and an expectation of the NASW Code of Ethics (1996). Some members of the group may need further therapy or services, and it is the responsibility of the clinical social worker to assess every member’s needs. Also, the members should feel that some type of closure has occurred, and this is often done through ending exercises. These exercises help the members of the group say goodbye to one another and acknowledge the group’s accomplishments. Another important part of the ending stage is the evaluation of the group intervention. The NASW Code of Ethics (1996) requires that some type of evaluation method is implemented in clinical practice. The social worker should evaluate the group’s goals and the level of success of the group process.

Learning Objectives

Students will:

  • Analyze termination process      with families and groups
  • Evaluate appraisal methods      for group process

Discussion: Termination with Families and Group

Intervention endings are a critical part of social work practice.  Because endings may create strong emotional reactions, the termination process starts from the first session.  Successfully terminating family sessions or group sessions promotes learning for clients to take with them moving forward.

Provide a 400-word discussion Post

–  A comparison of the termination process between treatment groups and family sessions.

– Explain how you would evaluate readiness to terminate group and family treatment, identifying similarities and differences between the evaluation of the two types of treatment.

– Describe the techniques you would use to terminate a treatment group and how these may be the same or different than the techniques you would use to terminate a family intervention.

· Must contain at least 3 references and citations

Reflective Paper

The primary function of human resource management is to increase the effectiveness and contribution of employees in the attainment of organizational goals and objectives. Consider all the areas of HRM that have been discussed in class:

  • EEO and Affirmative Action,
  • Human resources planning, recruitment, and selection,
  • Human resources development,
  • Compensation and benefits,
  • Safety and Health, and
  • Employee and labor relations.

Submit a Reflective Paper in which you explain how these aspects work together to perform that primary function. Are any aspects more important than the others? Why or why not? How do you believe the HRM role can be optimized for shaping organizational and employee behavior?

The Reflective Paper must: (a) identify the main issues in the chosen area, (b) demonstrate new learning that has occurred, (c) include class activities or incidents that facilitated learning and understanding, (d) identify specific current and/or future applications and relevance to your workplace, and (e) reflect the potential impact to your future career plans or even in your personal life at home. The emphasis of the Reflective Paper should be on parts ‘d’ and ‘e,’ and on the application of new learning.  Explore, in depth, the benefits of the new learning and understanding that has taken place.

Writing the Reflective Paper
The Reflective Paper:

  • Must be seven to eight double-spaced pages in length, excluding the cover page and reference page, and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
  • Must include a title page with the following:
    • Title of paper
    • Student’s name
    • Course number and name
    • Instructor’s name

  • Must document all sources in APA style, as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
  • Must include, on the final page, a Reference List that is completed according to APA style as outlined in your approved style guide and has at least fi

Stereotypes

Your text defined stereotypes as general images or beliefs we have about others and their belief systems, personalities or behaviors. Your text also noted that stereotypes can either be positive (e.g., believing that Asian Americans are mathematically minded and very industrious) or negative and can either be accurate or completely unfounded. Further, two types of stereotypes were discussed: Autostereotypes – or the beliefs that you have about your own group – and  Heterostereotypes – or the beliefs that you have about those outside your group. Think for a moment about what characteristics you believe men and women tend to have in general. Then, post your response to the questions below. Make sure to identify if you are a man or a woman when submitting your responses.

  1. Autostereotypes: Write down what characteristics women in general tend to have if you are a woman, or write down what characteristics men in general tend to have if you are a man (list as many as you can):
  2. Heterostereotypes: Write down what characteristics men in general tend to have if you are a woman, or write down what characteristics women in general tend to have if you are a man (list as many as you can):

    Health Assessments
Most community health assessments involve the analysis of some type of population-based data. However, there are many different data sources and statistical techniques that can be used. The question then becomes, which statistical sources are most appropriate for describing health problems? In short, it is essential for you to review some of the basic statistical techniques used in these analyses.
Utilizing resources such as interviews of key staff, documents at your local government health offices, and the Internet, compile your observations about the types of statistics used in describing health problems within your community. Based on your observations and understanding, respond to the following:

    • Examine and explain the types of statistics used in describing health problems.
    • Describe an odds ratio.
    • Describe relative risk.

business writing and communication

“Make the Best of Bad News”, Chapter 6, in Shwom, Barbara & Gueldenzoph Snyder, Lisa. (2019). Business Communication: Polishing Your Professional Presence, Pearson, New York, NY. Course Packet. The case is on pp. 216-218.

Requirements and Submission Instructions

Having completed the unit readings and made your initial post in the learning activities discussion, analyze the case, Making the Best of Bad News.  Read the entire course packet. You will find the case on pages 216-218. This assignment is not a research paper; it is an exercise in applying what you’ve learned. Apply the following steps, which comprise the Case Study Analysis Methodology that you will use to analyze case studies. You will note that it is similar to the problem solving steps learned in unit 3. Use the provided Case Study Template to prepare your assignment.

Step 1: Identify Issues

There may be more than one key issue in the case. Determine the issues or symptoms that need to be most immediately addressed. Consider the causes of these issues.

Clearly state the main problem faced. What specifically is the decision to be made within the context of the case. Be sure to specifically differentiate between the problem and its symptoms.

For example, an immediate problem in another case scenario could be high employee absenteeism, but the more basic issue may be low employee morale or lack of motivation. How you define a problem determines how you will resolve it. For example, a short-term solution for absenteeism would differ from solutions to improve morale or motivation. Identify both the symptom and the underlying cause. Also bear in mind that this course is about communications. Cases analyzed in this course are sure to pertain to business writing and communications.

Step 2: Provide Background Information

Summarize key information from the case scenario that relates to your stated issues in step 1. Describe the background of the company and/or situation to set the context for the analysis. (Ivey Publishing, 9B18M054).

Step 3: Analyze the Issues

Analyze the case based on provided questions. Demonstrate a thorough analysis by applying course concepts to discuss the case questions.

Step 4: Develop and Analyze the Alternatives

Brainstorm ideas that may solve your stated problem. Develop a list of viable alternatives to be evaluated. Try to be unbiased in your development of the alternatives.

Evaluate each of the alternatives generated. There are a number of ways to evaluate the alternatives. You could describe the advantages and disadvantages of each alternative in terms of solving your stated problem. Or, you could use some other business models, theories, or criteria for evaluating, such as a SWOT analysis. Determine the most appropriate method for evaluating alternatives, given the nature of the case and the stated problem.

Step 5: Make Recommendations

Based on your evaluation in step 4, choose the alternative(s) to recommend and explain why this is the best solution.

Step 6: Design Action Plan

Explain how you will implement your recommendation(s) in an action plan that states who should do what, when, and how.

Of course, you cannot actually

mplementation. Include a schedule and methods for evaluating the outcome. Indicate who will be responsible for the evaluation.

Reread your notes and consider your ideas. You may want to set your case aside overnight and “sleep on it.” Come back to it later after you have considered your work.

Evaluation

Analysis 3

Instructions:

Please read the attached PDF file and then follow assignment steps 1 – 5 with the correct format explained below. (Please follow instructions step by step!!!)

Goal:

apply the reading to a real-world event/issue or creative text of your choosing.

Format

The length for the application analysis is roughly 2.5 pages single-spaced followed by a Works Cited.

Assignment Description:

  1. The first paragraph of your application analysis is basically like an intro to an essay. Start by introducing the reading, author, and summarize the reading  (eg. In Homi Bhabha’s Location of Culture, Bhabha proposes/describes/analyzes/argues…). All summary and paraphrasing should be in your own words. Be sure to identify the different and specific elements of the reading that you’ll draw on to analyze your event or text. Next, identify which real-world event or text you’ll apply the reading to. Summarize the event or text in a few sentences and identify/explain any specific elements that are crucial to your analysis (like specific historical context, characters, scenes, interactions etc). Conclude by identifying what you’ll focus on in your analysis. This is loosely like a thesis, but can be more general– it’s explaining how we can use the reading to understand a particular event or a text.
  2. Your next paragraph will summarize, in your own words and in greater detail than the intro, the main idea in the reading that you’re making use of. The key here is “in your own words.” These readings have been written on hundreds of times, so it’s easy to find other people’s examples of how to explain and simplify them.  You can reference and read other summaries of these readings to make sure you’re on the right track (that’s totally fine), but be sure to cite them if you draw on them in your analysis. Each sentence should be uniquely summarized and paraphrased by you. Summary can include broad examples to help explain more clearly some of the more complex ideas. Note that if you do reference someone else’s summary, ensure you draw from a scholarly reader or academic website; there are so many terrible and incorrect interpretations of the concepts out there that will really undercut your work.
  3. Your next 3-5 paragraphs will apply the concept to your chosen real-world event/example or a text. Each paragraph should focus on a specific element of the reading. You’ll need to quote directly both from the reading and from summaries of your chosen event, or quote from your chosen text. For instance, if you choose a real-world event, you might quote from an article or someone’s online description of what occurred. If you choose a film as your text, you’d quote directly from that. You can apply the reading to three different instances or scenes, apply three elements of the reading to one scene or character in a text, explore how the event shows different sides of the reading..it’s really up to you how you want to structure these paragraphs.
  4. You’ll end with a really brief conclusion that reiterates why this text and concept work together, and explains how the text helps convey elements of the concept.
  5. Self-Analysis and Grading. Please include a self-analysis of your work that identifies areas you’re most proud of/confident in and areas that you’re most unsure about/feel like could use additional work.
