Design Resource Materials on a Specific Cultural Group

Instructions

Your Week 2 assignment offers you an opportunity to creatively present information about a specific cultural group of your choice.  Having this information will help you and your colleagues to better reach and serve the specific community of learners on whom you choose to focus.  The cultural group should relate in some way to your local community where you live or teach.

Choose an authentic local issue as your starting point for creating your resource sheet.  For example, Dearborn, Michigan has the largest percentage of individuals who identify as Muslims of any city in the United States (Tercero, 2017), so a resource sheet that could be designed about that population in Dearborn would help teachers, administrators, and other public school stakeholders to better understand the unique needs of that specific local population.

If you need help finding and choosing a local community on which to focus, contact your instructor to help you brainstorm and look at specific and current local issues regarding diversity in your area.

Once you have chosen your specific group to focus on, consider the following:

  • How could a teacher ensure that these students and families feel welcomed at their school regarding the school and classroom culture, procedures, curriculum, and instruction?
  • What would a teacher need to know in order to best reach this group?  For example, how would you include families in school activities, communicate with parents/caregivers, and build rapport with both students and their families?

Create a 1 to 2-page information pamphlet, infographic, or resource sheet presenting detailed information to help educators and paraprofessionals to identify the needs and resources for a specific cultural group of your choice. Some free design tools include Piktochart, Canva, and Venngage.

Length: 1-2 pages (or the equivalent in another form)

References: Include a minimum of 3 scholarly resources

Your assignment should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards. Be sure to adhere to Northcentral University’s Academic Integrity Policy.

Resource/Profit Model paper

Resource/Profit Model paper

Consider and identify a good or service to which you are familiar. This could be a good or service that the company, which you are employed, offers or a good or service another organization offers.

Conduct research to locate information on the Resource Profit Model (RPM), created by Byron J. Finch. The RPM is a framework that illustrates important elements of Operations Management. Within this model, there are three primary components, to consider: Foundational Success, Components of Value, and Managing Resources to Create Value.

You are tasked with the responsibility of using these three components as a guide to complete this assignment. Listing these three above components as subtitles will help aide you in this effort.

In the Foundational Success section, be sure to address

·         profitability,

·         strategy,

·         and value.

In the Components of Value section, you will need to address the determination of

·         cost,

·         quality,

·         and timeliness.

In the Managing Resources to Create Value section, you will discuss how the resources add value to the products or services.

You will essentially write a 10-page paper excluding title and references about how this good or service fits within the model. Be sure to address each element associated with the model. Using subtitles will help you achieve this.

This paper will need to meet APA standards (double-spacing, title page, reference page, etc.) and will need to include in-text citations, which you can retrieve from the textbook and at least three reliable outside sources.

In this comprehensive paper, critically assess the correlation between cyberbullying victimization, victim compensation, and offender criminal / civil liability using the following scenario.

Based on the scenario below, is Mandi’s mother entitled to compensation under YOUR current state’s victim compensation laws? Should school officials be held liable under existing criminal and/or civil laws? Explain your reasoning. Should the local police department be held liable under existing criminal and/or civil laws? Explain your reasoning.  Lastly, should the parents of the adolescents accused of sending the hurtful messages to Mandi be held liable under existing criminal and/or civil laws? Explain your reasoning.

Mandi is a 14-year old girl who just moved to a middle-class suburban community due to her single mother having to relocate due to her employer. Mandi’s mother enrolled her in the local high school where she initially thrived, but in recent months, she has been ridiculed in school by some of her classmates that she assumed were her friends and whom she shared personal stories. In response, Mandi’s mother contacted school officials who verbally warned her classmates in a schoolwide announcement that bullying of any kind will not be tolerated due to the school’s zero-tolerance policy against bullying.  The situation seemed to be under control for about a month with no overt signs of bullying while in school; however, things took a rapid turn when Mandi received an anonymous message on social media ridiculing her physical appearance along several sexually suggestive comments that were particularly hurtful. The message quickly spread amongst her peers and soon thereafter, additional messages started to appear on a number of social media platforms commonly used by adolescents. Mandi’s mother went to school officials to file a complaint. School administrators attempted to address the situation through email blasts to students, faculty, and parents about the dangers and possible ramifications of cyberbullying, but those responsible for sending the messages did not heed the barrage of warnings, so Mandi’s mother went to the local police department. The local department attempted to look into the matter, but unfortunately being a relatively small police department, they lacked the resources and knowledge to proceed with a thorough investigation. One afternoon on her way home from school, Mandi received a particularly heinous message telling her that this entire ordeal could end if she killed herself.  Several hours later, Mandi was found unresponsive by her mother. She had used a belt to hang herself in her bedroom.

Module 1 – Case

INTRODUCTION TO NEGOTIATION AND BARGAINING I

Assignment Overview

Prepare! Prepare! Prepare!

Our module has focused on the preparation phase, leading to negotiations. Within these preparations, an important part, nay, crucial part, is identifying the interests and deciding on the positions to be taken.

The background material page, and the supplementary articles, provided to you, have all emphasized this issue.

The following article sheds a light on the general aspects of negotiations, looks into interest based negotiations, and then presents a case study.

Leventhal, L. (2006). Implementing Interest-Based Negotiation: Conditions for Success with Evidence from Kaiser Permanente. Dispute Resolution Journal. New York: Aug-Oct 2006. Vol. 61, Iss. 3; p. 50.

Abstract

This article explores the theory behind interest-based negotiation and its application to the labor-management relationship. It examines the critical factors for the successful implementation of interest-based negotiation, and then looks at whether these factors are present at Kaiser Permanente. Interest-based negotiation is also called “interest-based bargaining” and “mutual gains bargaining.” The process focuses “on understanding and building on interests” and uses “problem-solving tools” to avoid “positional conflicts and achieve better outcomes.” Collective bargaining negotiations can involve a wide spectrum of issues, including wages, hours, job security, safety, health, employee benefits and work design. To use interest-based bargaining successfully, certain conditions should be present. Most important is a respectful working relationship between labor and management. An essential condition is an agreement to engage in interest-based bargaining. The following are conditions supporting interest-based negotiations:

1. identifying interests and positions,

2. relationship building,

3. positive working relationships,

4. internal coalition-building,

5. training in interest-based negotiations, and

6. changing the corporate culture.

Case Assignment

After carefully reading through the article, please answer (in about 3 full text pages), the following question:

1. What are the respective interests of the two sides in the Kaiser Permanente conflict?

2. Explain, why it is an interest, and not a position.

3. Identify and discuss the possible Entering and Leaving points within the negotiation range, as they pertain to the two sides in this conflict.

Assignment Expectations

1. Please do NOT summarize the article (no need to point out how many people work at KP), but focus on the case question(s)!

2. Present the interests, positions, EPs, and LPs one be one, define them, and explain each one.

3. If you feel that the article does not provide you with all the details, you can make personal assumptions, to complete the picture.

Module 1 – SLP

o What decisions would YOU have taken?

review and analyze published research that you might encounter as a health professional.

For your Final Project Article Review, you will review and analyze published research that you might encounter as a health professional. You will select two journal articles from the provided list on a topic of interest. You will create an article review that identifies the articles and their relevance to your field; summarizes the articles, including their findings; https://blog.keenessays.com/2021/07/05/pick-an-industry-health-care-marketing-retail-technology-etc-with-which-you-are-familiar/compares and contrasts the statistical methods used in the articles; explains why the methods used were appropriate; discusses their limitations; and concludes with recommendations for future work.

Final Project Article Review is divided into three journals, which will be submitted at various points throughout the course to scaffold learning and ensure quality final submissions. These article journals will be submitted in Modules Two, Five, and Six. The completed article review will be submitted in Module Eight.

Imagine you are a biostatistician working at a local health organization. Part of your job is to analyze trends and draw conclusions about health issues that affect your organization. Your supervisor has asked you to do a quick literature search for published research on an upcoming topic as preparation for a new project. The goal is to understand the current biostatistical methods and guidelines being used on similar studies so that you could eventually use that to inform the design of the new study. Your job is to find a minimum of two research articles on your topic from the Final Project Article Review Articles List document, examine the broad health question(s) addressed in each, and critically assess the statistical methods used to analyze the data and arrive at the articles’ conclusions. You will present the results of this analysis to your supervisor and peers in an article review. Specifically, your article review must address the following critical elements:

I. Background: Use this section to provide a brief context for the health problem, issue, or trend you are researching. Specifically, you should answer:

 A. What topic or health question did you research and why is it relevant to public health, nursing, or the health science professions? Give realworld examples to support your answer.

B. How can biostatistics help inform decision making around your topic? Support your answer with specific examples.

II. Article Selection: In this section, discuss how and why you selected your main article and the related article. Be sure to:

A. Explain why you selected these specific articles to examine over others in your field that use biostatistical methods and data. Justify your answer.

B. Assess each article’s importance to health decision making in your field. Give real-world examples to illustrate your answer. I

II. Findings: This section should highlight the major findings of each of the articles you selected for your supervisor and peers. Specifically:

A. What are the findings of each article and what implications do they have individually and collectively for solving the health problem in question? Support your answer with specific examples from your field. B. https://blog.keenessays.com/2021/07/05/pick-an-industry-health-care-marketing-retail-technology-etc-with-which-you-are-familiar/ Explain how key biostatistical calculations and methods support the conclusions in each article. Cite relevant information from the articles that support your answer.

IV. Methods: Use this section to compare and contrast the methods used in the articles you selected with an eye to assessing the quality and limitations of the findings and informing future research. Specifically, you should:

A. Explain why the authors of each article selected the methods they did. How appropriate were the methods to the overall purpose of the paper? Justify your response.

B. Analyze a difference and similarity in the methods chosen with respect to the health question being addressed in the selected articles. Explain your answer using evidence from the articles selected and information you have learned in the course.

C. Assess a strength and limitation of the different approaches used in the articles you selected. Explain your answer using evidence from the articles you selected and information you have learned in the course.
