Module 02 Project – Analysis

Barbara receives an email from her manager asking about the progress of the strategic plan. The manager informs Barbara that UCCO is wanting to implement a new electronic health record (EHR), to improve the overall process of providing quality patient care; and organizational challenges. After her discussion, Barbara realizes that she would need to complete a situational analysis. By performing a situational analysis, planners can help anticipate and manage change. Understanding the internal and external environment is also critical to an effective strategic plan. For the external environment, planners look at opportunities and threats. For the internal environment, planners look at strengths and weaknesses.

For this project assignment on UCCO, complete a minimum of a 1-2 page report and two SWOT tables to describe key opportunities, threats, strengths, and weaknesses in selecting an electronic record system. Your written report should address the following concepts:

Visit the Rasmussen online Library and search for a minimum of 2 articles covering the topics of electronic health record implementation. Conduct academic research using the library’s databases, like:

  • CINAHL
  • Discovery
  • Business Source Complete via EBSCO
  • Business via ProQuest
  • What is the current economic situation for UCCO? What suggestions can Barbara make to help mitigate financial issues? Use the financial review provided in the UCCO case.
  • What type of electronic record system should Barbara recommend for the company? What is her best option? What are the financial implications? Explain the choice based on what the system can provide in comparison to the organizational challenges?

Visit the Internet and search for a minimum of 2 electronic health record systems. Search for types of EHR systems.

To complete this assignment, construct two situational/SWOT analysis tables – one for each electronic record system being considered – that contains the following:

  • External influences – opportunities and threats.
  • Internal influences – strengths and weaknesses.
  • Trends that can impact clinic performance, market and financial position
  • EHR System fun
  • ctions and capabilities
  • EHR End-user requirements and ease of use

Remember to integrate citations accurately and appropriately for all resource types; use attribution (credit) as a method to avoid plagiarism. Use NoodleBib to document your sources and to complete your APA formatted reference page and in-text citations.

Ergonomic Job Analysis

Water filters for municipality water treatment plants are assembled by stacking and rolling several pieces of membranes into a cylinder. One of the first operations in the process of assembling a cylindrical water filter is called the ‘Prepper’. This job involves pulling thin membrane sheets from large rolls of membrane, inserting netting between the membrane sheets, and transferring and stacking the membrane sheets to a tray to be used for the next operation.

Recordable musculoskeletal disorders are shown on the OSHA 300 log from the previous year. In addition, current employees performing this job completed a body part discomfort survey.

Estimates of pinch force were recorded using a pinch grip dynamometer, with pinch grips between 10 lbf and 11 lbf observed when pulling membranes from the rolls, where the employees maximum pinch grip force capability was measured as 14 lbf.

Finally, an employee questionnaire was given to several employees, with the following questions and responses from the employees:

Question: Which tasks are the most difficult to perform?

· Pulling of membranes is contributing to the pain/discomfort currently experiencing

· Repetitive reaching to the bottom roll

· Netting location is too high, feels it in shoulder area at the end of the day

Question: Changes to the job which would reduce musculoskeletal/physical stress?

· Auto-feed (auto indexing of the roll) of membranes

· Lower the netting retrieval location

Utilizing the information above, using RULA (and Washington State Risk Factor Checklist – WSRFC), perform an ergonomics job analysis consisting of the following:

· Ergonomic job analysis – assume workers work on this job for 8 hours a day

o Identify the major tasks that the employees perform to complete this job

o Utilizing RULA (and the Washington State Risk Factor Checklist), determine if this job might need to be addressed ergonomically

o Identify specific risk factors for WMSDs (e.g., shoulder abduction, etc.) and which tasks they occur in (pictures of risk factors from video would be helpful)

o Determine if any risk factors you identified are consistent with employee discomfort feedback and WMSDs on OSHA 300 log

o Identify the root causes for the presence of the WMSD risk factors

· Potential Interventions/Controls

o Identify potential engineering controls to reduce the WMSD risk factors identified – utilize results from RULA (and WSRFC) analysis

o Identify the specific WMSD risk factors that will be reduced or eliminated for each potential engineering control identified

Report Grading

· Professional appearance: title page, tables and pictures within report with captions, correct spelling/grammar, appendix for complete checklists (3 pts)

Scenario

Imagine that Lynette follows up with you in an e-mail shortly after reading your views on leadership and collaboration:

Hi, Thanks for sending me your thoughts last week on the diversity issue at the clinic. Your next step is to select a team of professionals who can help you in this project and prepare an introduction of the project for a first meeting with them. I want you to prepare a presentation to serve as a brief, but substantive introduction for the first meeting with a group of 4–5 members who will participate on the committee tasked with addressing the diversity issue. Once I review more information about the proposed team I can help you with the recruitment. The presentation should be 5–7 minutes and use 6–8 slides with detailed speaker’s notes so I can understand your approach. Not a lot of time or space, so keep things pretty high level. Do the following: Briefly outline the project goals and highlight 2–3 of the initial priorities to be addressed by the group. Also, explain why they are important. Explain the composition of the team and why you chose them. Note that you will not know the exact individuals yet, but assume we will recruit the people with the desired qualities and characteristics that you outline in the presentation. Consider the following: Include a group of professionals you believe can help define the problem and ultimately make recommendations on how to address it. Make sure each member is either trained in, sensitive to, or has experience with the concept of workplace diversity. Give some thought to having some members from outside the organization. Provide member profiles: their diversity, qualifications, experience, internal versus external, and so forth. Explain your role and describe how the committee will work together and achieve effective interprofessional collaboration. Describe how the group will communicate. How and when they will meet. Describe how ideas will be shared and decisions made. Describe roles, group function, and structure. Describe the basic characteristics of a diverse workplace. Provide a convincing argument regarding the benefits of a diverse workforce using support from current research. Thanks, Lynette

Instructions

Create a 5–7 slide presentation in response to the content defined in the above scenario and submit it in the courseroom.

Presentation Guidelines

  • Length: 5–7 PowerPoint slides (not including title slide) that would accompany an approximately 5-minute oral presentation.
  • Notes: Prepare detailed speaker’s notes describing items on each slide so that the viewer can accurately interpret the deeper meanings and intentions that would have been conveyed orally. Support your claims, arguments, and conclusions with credible evidence from 2–3 current, scholarly or professional sources.
  • Visuals: Create visuals that are easily read and interpreted. Use colors, fonts, and formatting and other design principles that make the information clear and generally add to the aesthetic of the presentation.

Leadership Philosphy

Create Your Personal Leadership Philosophy

Ø An effective leadership philosophy is different than your personal purpose, values, and valued behaviors. While your leadership philosophy will be built upon the foundation your clear personal purpose and values statement creates, it is specific to your leadership efforts (in the workplace, in a community organization, wherever you are taking a leadership role).

Ø Let’s define an effective leadership philosophy as a values-aligned statement that helps you inspire consistent high performance and positive relationships with all of your team members, every day. It is NOT espousing leadership theories from recent business book (or even HBRs readings). Rather, it is developing your own personal, authentic, philosophy that derives from your core beliefs. I would hope that the materials you are exposed to in this course will aid in your journey.

Ø In a paper (no more than 10 pages, 12pt font, double spaced) respond to the following questions and any other you feel are important:

o As a leader, what are your highest values?

o What’s the contribution you want to make as a leader

o What makes you distinct as a leader?

o Drawing from High 5 Test as well as other sources, what are your strengths as a leader?

******my high 5 test results were****

My personal insights after taking the High 5 results were: self-believer, empathizer, optimist, believer, and timekeeper.

o Describe your plan for building trust, showing compassion, providing stability and creating hope?

o What are five words or phrases people would use to describe your leadership style?

o How would people of different levels describe their relationship with you?

o How are you building your influencing capital?

o How do you want to treat people?

o How will you build your team?

o How will you ensure your team’s engagement?

o How do you approach (and delegate) tasks?

o What are you doing to continually build your leadership capacity?

o What do you want your legacy to be?

THIS IS A SEPARATE ONE PAGE PERSONAL LEADER STATEMENT. I ATTACHED A SAMPLE

Community Problem

The community issue addressed is the high prevalence rates of obesity and overweight. In this regard, the challenge is comprehensive, owing to categorizing the aspect as a lifestyle condition. Subsequently, other factors, such as nutrition, inadequate physical exercise, and sedentary lives contribute to the issue. The problem is significant, owing to substantial correlations between obesity, overweight, and other comorbidities. The implication is that obesity is a risk factor for other illnesses, including cardiovascular diseases, obesity, cancer, and other issues. In such a case, programs and initiatives implemented to reduce prevalence should be adequate. Accurate evaluation is critical in attaining the best outcomes, including follow-up, adherence, and addressing elements that require a change to meet emerging needs.

Structure

The evaluation structure follows a pre-and post-intervention approach. In this regard, the emphasis is on the initiatives and their ability to meet the set goals. According to the CDC (2016), obesity evaluation measures often employ baseline data to compare progress at the post-implementation phase. In this regard, the structure entails collecting baseline data of the metrics, such as BMI, waistline, and weight, among other anthropometric factors. After the intervention, such as a community education program sensitizing users on the risk factors associated with obesity and overweight, the evaluation will compare the baseline measures to assess any progress. To illustrate, evaluating how the BMI changed after a participant implements recommended steps will help determine efficacy. As a result, the suggested structure focuses on a pre-and post-intervention approach.

Process

The evaluation process will be goal-based. Subsequently, the procedure will focus on specific objectives determined by the set metrics. According to Seral-Cortes et al. (2021), an effective evaluation process should emphasize knowing the goals and project outcomes, testing them against set results. Additionally, precise objectives and measurable data are also vital in promoting an effective process of assessment. Other components or steps incorporate using a logic model to describe the intervention or program, formulating the project’s acceptability criteria, and developing required questions. In the proposed process, a goal-based method will apply. Subsequently, post-intervention, goals will be formulated or indicators of success, such as reducing the prevalence levels by 25% in the first three months. Behavioral changes, including nutritional awareness assessed by selecting at least three healthy diets after four weeks of community education, will be helpful.

Outcome Standards

The outcomes will focus on behavior and prevalence levels in the long-term from the example of community education and awareness. As described, after three months, disease prevalence at the community level will reduce by 25%. Additionally, behavioral aspects encompass correct exercise uptake, avoiding risky diets, and limiting lifestyle conduct, such a sedentary life that increases the disease’s risk and severity. As determined by the metrics, anthropometric measures, including waistline and weight, are also vital. As a standard and primary measure reducing BMI levels by at least 20% will indicate success and suggest the individual is making progress towards a healthy weight and avoiding obesity. As a result, outcome standards will focus on lifestyle behaviors, disease prevalence, and specific metrics or measures, such as BMI and weight reduction after participation.

Community Health Problem & Improvement Plan

Obesity is a complex community health problem in the United States. The issue results from various behavioral and genetic factors. Behavioral factors contributing to obesity include physical activity and inactivity, medication use, and dietary choices (CDC, 2021). Additional factors such as education and skills, socio-economic conditions can also predispose individuals to obesity. Obesity is a complex and severe community healthcare problem. The complication is associated with cardiovascular diseases. It is also associated with poor mental health and low life quality. Obesity affects every age group in the United States. The US experiences an increasing prevalence among all population segments. The US demographic forms part of developed nations’ populations whose obesity increase is estimated to be 30% higher than the prevalence in developing countries (Çakmur, 2017). Out of the 25% of overweight American children, 11% of them are obese. This increase places obesity at an epidemic level.

Analyzing an obesity healthcare improvement plan requires healthcare authorities to consider various aspects of the program. First, one can examining the physical activity environment to determine barriers and opportunities to accessing social reinforcement. The dietary environment assesses the availability, attractiveness, and affordability of healthy foods. The analysis includes healthcare and work environments where healthy diets, community support, and physical activities can be promoted. Lastly, the study should consist of the school environment where young people receive obesity education and healthy food and physical activity opportunities. Various outcome standards can also be measured. One of the outcomes is increased obesity research. Community obesity management plans should increase research into the causes, effects, and solutions for obesity. The analysis should include the strength of surveillance monitoring systems. Healthcare, government health agencies, and non0profit organizations should have robust programs that measure the prevalence and set solutions for the problem. Lastly, evaluating the plan should consider the problem prevalence within given timelines to determine success.

Deliverable 3 – Examining the Digital World Through the Use of Sociological Theory (Power Point 15-20Slides)

 Competency

This competency will allow you to demonstrate your understanding of prominent sociological theories and how they impact the digital world.

Instructions

You are working for a local department store in the Operations Department. You notice that their business practices and use of technology are not up to date. The Human Resources Department does not have adequate computer access and often requires employees to complete some business at home. They also require prospective employees to apply from home. You recognize that not all people have personal computers, and some might be accessing business and personal records from a public computer. There are two prominent sociological theories that can be used to easily examine computer usage for individuals and organizations. Those theories are Conflict Theory and Symbolic Interaction Theory.

At a staff meeting, you and your team are engaged in a discussion about the use of technology on both an individual and organizational level. You cite the digital divide as a major concern. Your store is considering an upgrade in some or all of their technological resources.

Recognizing that you are technologically savvy, your supervisor asks you to generate a visual comparison that considers the use of public computers versus a personal computer. You will rank concepts such as ease of use, time, and comfort in completing tasks, security factors, email management, and safety in conducting business that is typically completed on a computer that may lead someone to experience the digital divide (a difference between groups of people and their use of digital technology). You will also need to consider the sociological theories named above and explain how from a sociological perspective, it would benefit or hinder the store you work in to upgrade their technology.

Your comparison should consider various factors identified below and will illustrate the benefits and some potential limitations of utilizing technology. Your presentation will be presented to your supervisor and other members of the Operations Department in order to determine which, if any, components of the store’s current technological operations will be updated. The visual comparison can be in any engaging format that you select.

For this comparison chart, you are to reflect upon and address the following sets of questions/information.

  • Define conflict theory.
  • Define symbolic interaction theory.
  • Discuss how each of these theories would explain the use of technology and the development of the digital world we now live.
  • Consider multiple ways that society has changed in the past several decades and what contributed to that change.
  • Provide examples of technological growth and change over the past several decades.
  • Make direct correlations between the technologies that exist and the changes that have occurred at the organizational and societal levels in the past several decades.
  • Define digital divide.
  • Consider factors that create the digital divide, such as access to technology, socioeconomic status, age, personal interest, location of residence, etc.
  • Based upon factors that cause the digital divide, suggest ways that this divide can be combated.
  • How does the digital divide apply to the store that you work in for this scenario?
  • Which theoretical perspective can best be applied to your store in the above scenario to help explain and counter the impacts of the digital divide?

W7: Tu Vecindario

Prior to posting your answer to this discussion I want you to read the following document which is a brief recap of some very “Common Pitfalls” that second language learners of Spanish commit. This is a great document to review regularly, and it is based on many of the points made in the book Breaking out of beginner Spanish that I mentioned earlier in the course.

https://edge.apus.edu/access/content/group/72bb1e02-82a8-4938-b1b9-5702e2e08168/Discussion%20Boards/CommonPitfalls.doc

Tu Vecindario

Using the Spanish you have learned from Rosetta Stone and this lesson, write about three places in your home town or city that you frequent other than work.

Where do you go and why? What is your favorite place to go? What are some landmarks in your neighborhood? Are there any special activities or festivities during the year?

You are free to answer the questions however you wish, provided that your answer addresses the writing prompt. (tu vecindario). Your post should consist of at least 8 complete sentences in Spanish.

Respond to two peers in Spanish. Make two comments and ask two questions about the content of their posts. Replies should be at least 5 sentences each.  Use appropriate Spanish language punctuation and accent marks. The document Accents and Punctuation tells you how to do this. (Becoming familiar with this document was part of week one’s assignments).

  • You can also easily create the Spanish characters using the Special Characters feature above the text field. (If you don’t see the omega or blue horse shoe, the icon may be a cube with blue and red symbols on it. They both represent the special characters feature).
If you have a laptop and can’t create ALT commands, or if you find it more convenient, there is an icon on the gray area above the text field (where you type your post),  find the smiley face, and close by you should see an icon that is either a blue horse shoe (omega) or a box with red and blue symbols on it. This is the special character icon…clicking this box will allow you to choose special characters. You can use this box to create Spanish characters and punctuation marks.
  • Please find attached a Power Point file on when to place accents on Spanish words. I wish you all the best this week and look forward to reading your comments!
