  2. Propose one (1) strategy that criminal investigators should take in order to conduct an efficient follow-up investigation. Provide a rationale to support your response.
  3. Select two major crimes (e.g. sudden deaths, sex related crimes) and compare and contrast the key differences in reporting the two major crimes that you selected.
  4. Determine the three (3) most important characteristics of an effective criminal investigator and discuss the importance of each characteristic you determined.
  5. Support or critique the argument that the criminal investigation process should maintain the balance regarding freedom of information through media outlets and privacy rights of alleged perpetrators of crime. Provide a rationale to support your response.

discussion post – The Impact of Variance of Data Sets and Predictability and I Did It for Us!

NEED TO ANSWER ALL TWO DISCUSSION QUESTIONS…also specify which answer goes to which discussion question

question 1

For this discussion, we will consider the impact of variance of data sets and predictability. This module we talked about the various tools investors and managers employ to measure market risk.

First Post
Please address the following:

Describe the significance of applying statistical tools to measure risk. Can investors or financial managers confidently forecast performance without the application of statistical tools? Why or why not?

question 2

Consider for a moment how many decisions are required to operate a business whether successful or unsuccessful, large or small, private or public.

Assume now that you own your own company. Unfortunately, your company is sinking and has been in the red for the previous nine months. You are currently considering closing down and attempting to pay off the debt you owe your investors as there is no way to ethically/legally prevent the company’s ultimate demise.

You are then approached with a rather unethical opportunity that will quickly bring your company out of the red but if it came to light, would bring your entire company crashing down. However, the chances of it coming out are less than 3%. Please respond to the following ideas:

Would you save the company? Why or why not? How could this affect your company in the future?

    Clinical Trial
Between 2004 and 2007, the National Institutes of Health conducted a STEP vaccine clinical trial—Phase IIB “test-ofconcept” study.
The STEP study is the name of a clinical trial to test an experimental human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) vaccine. The STEP study enrolled 3,000 participants at sites in Australia, Brazil, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Peru, Puerto Rico, and the United States. The study was designed to test an HIV vaccine, which aimed to stimulate production of immune system T-cells that can kill HIV-infected cells.
Based on its first evaluation of vaccine efficacy, the findings showed there were 24 cases of HIV infection among the 741 volunteers who received at least one dose of the investigational vaccine compared with 21 cases of HIV infection among the 762 volunteers who were vaccinated with the placebo. In volunteers who received at least two vaccinations, there were 19 cases of HIV infection among the 672 volunteers who received the investigational vaccine and 11 instances of HIV infection among the 691 volunteers who received placebo. The study investigators of the vaccine trials have decided to cease immunizations and are contacting study volunteers to inform them of the developments.

Week 2 – Assignment 3

Section 2: Financial Ratio Analysis [WLOs: 1, 2] [CLOs: 1, 2]

Ratio analysis provides another set of patterns to evaluate before deciding to buy or sell a company’s stock. Ratios reveal more than just the past performance; ratios reveal how effectively the company converts product sales into shareholder returns. Ratios provide a gauge for comparison across time and across the industry (competitors), while removing the impact of size differences. Would you rather invest in Company A, with $1.0 million in earnings, or Company B, with $10.0 million in earnings? It’s hard to say. However, if Company A earns a ROA of 25%, while Company B earns a ROA of 2%, the decision becomes clear.

Liquidity ratios provide clues to how effectively the company manages its cash collection cycle. Asset turnover ratios reveal how efficiently the company uses its assets to generate profits. Debt management ratios reveal how leveraged a company is, which provides an indication of future risk. Taken together, a company’s ratios and its ratios compared to the industry competitors provide important insight to the investment strength of the company’s stock. In this assignment, you will review the trend in your chosen company’s financial ratios over the past 3 years and compare your chosen company’s ratios to the average ratios from top competitors in the industry.

Prepare:

Prior to beginning work on this assignment,

Write:

In your paper, address the following four parts in a Word document:

Part 1: (three to five paragraphs)

  • Summarize the trends in your company’s ratio performance over the 3 most recent years. Be sure to address the following ratios included in Appendix C:
    • Profitability ratios: ROA, ROE, return on investment (ROI).
    • Liquidity ratios: quick ratio, current ratio.
    • Debt management ratios: long-term debt to equity, total debt to equity, interest coverage ratio.
    • Asset management ratios: total asset turnover, receivables turnover, inventory turnover, and accounts payable turnover.
    • Per share: book value per share.

Part 2: (two paragraphs)

  • Interpret whether the trend for each ratio (listed in Part 1) is an improvement or a decline in performance for the company.
  • Create a table that lists each ratio as either a strength or a weakness in the most current year, based on its trend and your interpretation.
  • Determine the overall financial strength of the company based on the ratios identified as either strengths or weaknesses.
    • Consider all of the ratios discussed so far. Is the company’s strength the fact that the debt management ratios are improving? Or is it that the liquidity ratios are increasing? Is the company’s weakness that the turnover ratios are declining? Or is the company’s weakness that debt management ratios are weakening?
    • Categorize the company’s overall ratio performance as either strong, neutral, or weak, based on your determination from the ratios.

Part 3: (one to two paragraphs)

  • Compare your chosen company’s ratio performance to the industry competitor ratios in the most recent year based on Appendix D. Be sure to address the following ratios included on Appendix D:
    • Profitability ratios: ROA, ROE, gross margin, and net margin.
    • Liquidity ratios: quick ratio and current ratio.
    • Debt management ratios: long-term debt to equity, total debt to equity, and interest coverage ratio.
    • Asset management ratios: asset turnover and inventory turnover.
  • Create a table that lists each ratio as either higher or lower than the average ratio for the competitors in the industry.

Part 4: (one paragraph)

  • Categorize the company’s overall financial performance as either better than average, average, or worse than average compared to the industry based on the ratios.
  • Interpret which ratios are the most important and explain your reasoning.
  • Justify your conclusion based on the table you created, your interpretation of which ratios are the most important, and the company’s overall ratio performance compared to the industry competitors.

WORD COUNT
Writing requires skill and being able to write within a specified word limit is an essential component of professional and academic work. Reading and writing critically are fundamental skills which demonstrate an understanding and an ability to make judgements and solve problems, hence why only 10% of a word count should be direct quotes. That is, if the word count is 1500 words only 150 of those words should be direct quotes. Word counts provide students with an indication of the amount of detail and work required for each assessment item.
What is included in a word count?
Essentially, all text within an assessment item from the introduction through to the conclusion is counted in the word count. This includes all in-text citations, direct quotes and headings. The word count does not include the following:
• Title page
• Reference list
• Appendices
• Tables
• Figures and legendshttp://thehomeworksolutionteam.com/,http://yourhomeworksolutiontm.com/ ,http://yourhomeworksolutionz.com/,http://yourhomeworksolved.com  , /http://schoolswriters.com/,http://yourschoolwriter.com/ ,http://yourschoolswriters.com/

Word Limit: 2000 words (1000 per answer).
Instructions: Please answer TWO of the FOUR questions provided.
Submissions MUST NOT exceed the maximum word length. Footnotes and bibliography are not included in the word count.
All questions carry equal marks.
Please be sure that in your exam answers any verbatim quotation or close paraphrasing of sources (including the core textbook and lecture transcripts) is properly identified and attributed. Verbatim quotes must be in “……..” with a source and page number attribution (using OSCOLA). Close paraphrasing must be identified with a source and page number attribution. Failing to do so will amount to poor academic practice and may amount to academic misconduct. For further information, see the Undergraduate Students’ Handbook for information on plagiarism.
1. Ben used to be an ardent Reds FC supporter and had their team logo tattooed on his right arm. However Reds FC have performed terribly in the league and received so many red cards that Ben has developed a very deep hatred of the team. It is so bad that he now wants his arm taken off. He approaches his neighbour, Samir, who he knows was a renowned surgeon in his home country although he’s not permitted to work in the UK. Ben invites Samir over to his house and then puts forward the plan. Ben has already sterilised a set of knives and brought clean towels, needles and thread. He says to Samir, ‘take my arm off or I’ll hurt your wife’. In reality Ben actually has no intention to hurt Samir’s wife. Samir hesitates but loves his wife very much so he decides to take a couple of Valium tablets and a shot of whisky to steady his nerves, and proceeds. Samir does a very careful job.
