It is a priority that students are provided with strong educational programs and courses that allow them to be servant-leaders in their disciplines and communities, linking research with practice and knowledge with ethical decision-making. This assignment is a written assignment where you will demonstrate how this course research has connected and put into practice within your own career.

Provide a reflection of at least 500 words (or 2 pages double spaced) of how the knowledge, skills, or theories of this course(Inferential Statistics in Decision-making ) have been applied, or could be applied, in a practical manner to your current work environment(I am working at the moment). If you are not currently working, share times when you have or could observe these theories and knowledge could be applied to an employment opportunity in your field of study.

Requirements:

•Provide a 500 word (or 2 pages double spaced) minimum reflection.

•Use of proper APA formatting and citations. If supporting evidence from outside resources is used those must be properly cited.

•Share a personal connection that identifies specific knowledge and theories from this course(Inferential Statistics in Decision-making).

•Demonstrate a connection to your current work environment. If you are not employed, demonstrate a connection to your desired work environment.

•You should NOT provide an overview of the assignments assigned in the course. The assignment asks that you reflect how the knowledge and skills obtained through meeting course objectives were applied or could be applied in the workplace.

•Submit your assignment by going to the Practical Connection link in the Assignment Folder on Blackboard.

Examination of takeoff and landing

For your independent project, create an instructional presentation. This assignment utilizes two independent examples – For the takeoff performance portion, you will utilize a generic example, while the landing portion is conducted specifically for your team’s Cessna 172 project aircraft.

  1. Takeoff (completed using a generic example)
    • Utilizing Figure 10.1 (Dole et al., 2017, p. 162) explain on a selected example (not necessarily your team’s selected project aircraft) how takeoff performance data in tabular and graphical form (as can be found in the flight manual/POH) can be used to determine the specific parameter:
      • Takeoff speed for a selected takeoff weight
      • Length of the takeoff roll
      • Distance required to clear a 50 ft obstacle
    • Using the same example, explain (backed by specific example data) how environmental conditions influence the takeoff distance.
  2. Landing (completed using your specific project aircraft)
  • Approach speed for a selected landing weight
  • Drag during landing
    • Total drag at touchdown (stall speed)
    • Average drag during landing roll (based on total drag at stall speed – Resources and Inputs)
  • Residual thrust
    • Residual power based on the rated power of the aircraft
    • Thrust at touchdown
    • Average thrust during the landing roll
  • Average deceleration during the landing roll
  • Length of the landing roll

Once you completed your specific landing case for your aircraft, discuss and support numerically (where appropriate) the following aspects:

  • Influence of altitude on landings
    • Influence on landing speeds
    • Influence on landing distances
  • Difference between landing roll length (as calculated above) and landing distance (as published in a POH)
  • Influence of landing conditions such as runway material and surface condition, runway slope, wind conditions
  • Influence of weight on landings
    • Influence on landing speeds
    • Influence on landing distances
  • Critical evaluation of any factors that were not considered in your example

As previously stated, you are encouraged to utilize appropriate computational software such as Excel® or MatLab®

Misrepresentation by Noncertified Individuals

This discussion explores your responsibility to the BACB. Consider the following scenario:

You just started working at a facility that advertises it provides behavior analytic services to children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. You are earning great pay, and your supervisor seems very nice. However, you noticed on your supervisor’s business card that she lists that she is a “Board Certified Behavior Analyst.” However, she does not hold a certification in behavior analysis. You know this is a tough topic, as she has admitted to you she failed the exam twice.

Discuss the concerns and challenges you face in this situation. What does the compliance code suggest you do in this scenario?

7710 reply to classmate:

 Unit 8 Discussion Prompt 1COLLAPSE

If I was working for a facility that advertises that it provides behavior analytic services and my supervisor had a business card listing her as a BCBA when I know for a fact she is not, it is my ethical responsibility to report her to the BACB. Code 10.07 Discouraging Misrepresentation by Non-certified Individuals states that behavior analysts must report non-certified practitioners to the BACB and appropriate state licensing board. (Bailey & Burch, 2016)

Because this supervisor is nice and I like the job, this would be difficult. However, it is important to remember that what she is doing is unfair to the client and their families. I would not want to get surgery from an “almost doctor” or represented in court by an “almost lawyer”. The importance of becoming board certified is that clients and families can be assured their behavior analyst has the competence necessary to give the treatment they are advertising. I would give this supervisor a chance to report herself, but warn her that if she does not, I will. Then if I continued working for this facility, I would keep my eyes open. Negligence like that is often accompanied.

In the first example we have a teacher trying to determine if violent cartoons lead to aggressive behaviors in cartoon children. The experimenters use Alternating-Treatment Designs (ATD) design, which consists of two conditions occurring alternately in hopes to define a relationship between variables (Miltenberger, 2016). This type of design rules out all extraneous values as the type of values would have to be similar across conditions (Miltenberger, 2016). In our fist condition the treatment ATD was designed with A-B-A-B-A-B pattern. The first day, violent cartoons were introduced. The second day there were no cartoons. The data proved that aggressive behaviors occurred more frequently on days where the violent cartoons were introduced (Miltenberger, 2016). The primary benefit to implementing the ATD A-B-A-B design Is controlling particular confounds (Miltenberger, 2016).

The second example is an ADT done in randomized order, particularly A-B-B-A-B-A-A-B order. Marlow and Colleagues, examine percentage of improvement when treatment A is introduced in comparison to treatment B. This type of ATD may be used when an experimenter is trying to compare treatment efficiency (Barlow, et. al., 2016).

Alternating-Treatment Design is a useful tool used to not only compare efficiency treatments, but may also be used to show a functional relationship as in the example with cartoons (Miltenberger, 2016). The data displays a functional relationship between violent cartoons watched and aggressive behaviors. ATD may be used for a variety of reasons in the clinical setting.

GUI Term Project

Objective

The objective of this assignment is to  develop a software product/solution using the concepts and techniques  exposed in the class. Your task is to implement a software that  implements a solution to a problem (or a video game if you wish). The  software must be implemented in Visual Basic. Net and should make use of  GUI.

Constraints of the Project

  • System must make use of multiple screens (at least two).
  • System must make use of files/databases.

Deliverables

By the date specified in the Dropbox for the Project Proposal:

Project Proposal (1 to 2 pages) which must clearly show the following:

  • Members of Group
  • Problem Statement: Summarize the real-world problem/game and a software solution to the problem.
  • Users and Stakeholders: Explain who the potential users and stakeholders are and how they will interact with the solution.
  • Scope: Specify the scope of the  proposed software project. In other words, what aspects of the problem  will your software solve, and what will remain as tasks requiring human  judgment or work.
  • Prototypes of Screens (can be wireframes or paper and pencil) with storyboards (navigation in your system).
  • Conclusion: Conclude with a persuasive argument as to why the software project would be an appropriate choice for this class.

If you don’t submit by the deadline,  you still can develop your project but you will have 0 for 10% of the  grade of the project. You also risk to have a project not suitable for  the class.

By the date specified in the dropbox for Final Submission of Project  (towards the end of the semester):

  • Visual Basic project with the software implementation of the project.

socw 6301 assignment

Just because you thought of an interesting research question and have a desire to conduct research does not mean that your research will automatically be supported by faculty or funded by an organization. In order to gain stakeholder approval, you must submit a research proposal. Much like an outline of a paper or a treatment of a movie script, the research proposal contains several parts that begin with a research question and end with a literature review. For this Assignment, you compile a research proposal that includes a research problem, research question, and a literature review.

For this Assignment, choose between the case studies entitled “Social Work Research: Couple Counseling” and “Social Work Research: Using Multiple Assessments.” Consider how you might select among the issues presented to formulate a research proposal.

Be sure to consult the outline in Chapter 14 the Yegidis et al. text for content suggestions for the sections of a research proposal. As you review existing research studies, notice how the authors identify a problem, focus the research question, and summarize relevant literature. These can provide you with a model for your research proposal.

By Day 7

Submit a 5- to 6-page research proposal stating both a research problem and a broad research question (may be either qualitative or quantitative). Use 6–10 of the most relevant literature resources to support the need for the study, define concepts, and define variables relevant to the question. Include a literature review explaining what previous research has found in relation to your problem and question. The literature review should also include a description of methods used by previous researchers. Finally, be sure to explain how your proposed study addresses a gap in existing knowledge.

Government#4

Answer in detail and follow all guidelines

The President and Crisis Management

Today is your presidential Inauguration Day. You were elected as president last November by a slim margin in both the popular vote   and the electoral vote. You attended a worship service this morning with your   family and about a dozen high-ranking members of the U.S. House and the U.S.   Senate. Then, you and the current president took a ride in a convertible car   to the U.S. Capitol, where you were sworn in as the new president of the   United States. It is now official; you are the president!

As you and your family are enjoying the parade, your new chief of staff and one of the key military advisors who is a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff whispers to you that there has been a major cyberattack on key federal financial institutions across the United States that compromised the personal financial data and passwords of hundreds of thousands of citizens.

Even though you have held office for just a few hours, you know it is critical to act swiftly and decisively so that the perpetrators of the crime, the American citizens, and political leaders (those who support   you and those who do not) see you as a competent and strong leader. What are your first three actions?

In your paper, you will describe these three actions in detail. Organization is important in this paper. Make certain to include the following information in your paper, and organize major sections using   headings.

  • Briefly describe the cyberattack and its implications for the nation.
    • This section should be located early in the paper (i.e., in the first or second paragraph).
    • Do you know who the perpetrators are?
    • What was the goal of the crime?
    • How much damage was caused?
  • What is your first action?
    • Why is this action your first? Why is it so important?
    • What is the goal of the action? What purpose does it serve?
    • What individuals, groups, or organizations does it involve?
  • What is your second action?
    • Why is this action your second? Why is it so important?
    • What is the goal of the action? What purpose does it serve?
    • What individuals, groups, or organizations does it involve?
  • What is your third action?
    • Why is this action your third? Why is it so important?
    • What is the goal of the action? What purpose does it serve?
    • What individuals, groups, or organizations does it involve?
  • Provide a conclusion.
    • What are your next steps?
    • Briefly describe how your actions were limited by the U.S. Constitution. For example, you may feel constrained by the other two branches—powers denied to you by the U.S. Constitution or law         (e.g., declaring war or appointing to key positions in your administration loyal and trusted friends without going through the formal appointment process or the civil services system).

Your paper must be 2–4 pages in length, not counting the title page and references page. Make certain to double-space, apply 1-inch   margins, and use 12-point font. Utilize headings to separate major sections of your plan (e.g., First Action, Section Action). Cite all sources in-text and on the references page using APA Style.

For this unit, the following resources may be helpful as you complete the   assignment. As aforementioned, make certain to cite all sources—in-text and on the references page—that you use to support your work.

Read Douglas Hofstadter’s recent Atlantic magazine article on Machine Translation and write a 1000 word summary and response.

Read Douglas Hofstadter’s recent Atlantic magazine article on Machine Translation and write a 1000 word summary and response. There are three languages that the author picks as case studies – French, German, and Mandarin. Pick one of them and discuss the issues that arise in translating this language. If you have reading competency in another language, you could instead conduct experiments similar to the ones Hofstadter conducts on your language of choice and report the results.

Keep in mind that the article is long and 1000 words is not a lot. So your first task is to identify what you think the important ideas are in this article and then decide how to incorporate them into your summary and discussion. Below we have outlined the topics you need to cover; the rest is up to you. Note that the goal of the project is to summarize — so you’ll largely be reporting the views of the author. But towards the end you can give your personal take of the discussion as long as you make it clear that this is your viewpoint. Also note that while you summarizing someone else’s ideas, you still have to do it in your words. You cannot directly take chunks of text from the article. That would count as plagiarism.

Here’s the structure your essay should have:

1. Short introductory paragraph

2. Introducing the issues that arise in translating your language of choice [this could be more than one paragraph]

     (i) What is one example of how translation fails in your language of choice? (explain the phenomenon)

(ii) What’s another example? (explain the phenomenon)

3. Discussion of why Google Translate is limited in the way it is [this could be more than one paragraph]

     (i) Why can’t Google Translate successfully translate the structures you identified in Part 2?

(ii) Do you think similar problems will arise in other languages?

(ii) Do you think all efforts at machine translation are doomed to fail?

4. The final paragraph should wrap things up.

To get some tips on how to write well, you could read the first two chapters of Steven Pinker’s book “The Sense of Style”. They are attached below. Also please use spell checkers and avoid spelling mistakes.

The writing assignment has three parts: (i) the first draft (ii) peer review and (iii) the revised version. For this round (i.e. the first draft), we will grade you on content and the structure of your essay. We will give you feedback on the style and grammar of your writing but will not deduct points.

Due: noon, next Friday, October 5. Assignments should be submitted as PDF files via Moodle. Only PDF files will be accepted. Other formats (Word, RTF) will be returned and your assignment will count as a late assignment!

Argumentation and Advocacy- Topic 2

PART-1

Complete the exercises in the attached document, “Reading Exercises.” These exercises are also in the textbook, refer to your text should you have questions or need further examples.

PART-2

TOPIC: Social Fallacies

Specialists in communication are often hired to clean up problems created by unthoughtful messaging. While advocates dedicate significant amounts of time and energy promoting causes, they often struggle to clearly identify their logical positions. To further the problem, in light of clear arguments advocates commonly utilize informal fallacies to persuade their target audiences. These weaknesses tend to create easily avoidable communications crises. The first step is to identify the communicative problems.

For this assignment, identify a social issue you are personally interested in learning more about, advocating for the cause, or are against it, and identify fallacious reasoning.

In 750-1,000 words:

1. Research an advocate (individual or organization) that promotes a relevant social issue. Identify the organization and explain the relevancy of the social issue.

2. Show the steps you took to translate the position/argument you researched into a clear logical form by writing out the logical premises and conclusions from the material presented by the advocate.

3. Identify a minimum of five informal fallacies that are made by the advocate. Explain the fallacies themselves and how each functions.

At least three academic peer-reviewed sources are required for this paper.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide,

All B.A. in Communication majors should save the final version of this assignment with edits that incorporate faculty feedback after grading. Students should also save the assignment directions. COM-490: Communication Capstone will require students to prepare a portfolio that showcases their work in the program. Please save this assignment in multiple locations. See the “Communication Professional Portfolio Guide” under course materials for further instructions.

unit 3 discussion

Application of Standards of Care

Discuss the standard(s) of care to which the parties will be held in this case scenario. How will the standards of care and your state’s Nurse Practice Act be applied in the courts if the case is sued?

Case Scenario

SK, age 61, went to the hospital with what she thought was a bad cold, and was admitted with a diagnosis of pneumonia. Following admission, she became increasingly feverish and short of breath, but her family’s calls for help went unanswered. In fact, her daughter was unable to find anyone when she went to the nurses’ station looking for help. The patient eventually stopped breathing, and someone finally responded to the family’s desperate and frantic calls for help. SK was successfully resuscitated, but sustained brain damage due to oxygen deprivation. She was left unable to walk, talk, or care for herself.

Because of nurse understaffing in the hospital, her assigned RN had not assessed her often enough and did not monitor her oxygen level. There were 41 other patients on this unit. Although the hospital’s own staffing standards called for five registered nurses and two licensed practical nurses to staff this unit, only three registered nurses were on duty. Records for the unit in question indicated that the hospital failed to meet its own staffing standards for 51 out of 59 days before this incident.

SOCW 6351

Protecting children from abuse and neglect is a cornerstone of the social work profession. Social work professionals strive to ensure that children grow into healthy, well-developed adults. They also develop, implement, and evaluate policy initiatives regarding child welfare. Such initiatives should aim to not only reduce child abuse and neglect, but also provide support for children’s development and resources that will enhance their well-being. As a social worker, to what extent do you understand the existing policies addressing child abuse and neglect? In addition, how prepared are you to propose new policy initiatives in this regard?

For this Discussion, review the resources, including the NASW’s policy statement on child abuse and neglect on the NASW website. Pick one of the NASW positions and consider a policy initiative you would introduce to further that initiative. Be sure to think about the policies that already exist in your state and how this initiative might alter existing policies.

By Day 3

Post a brief description of the position you selected from the NASW policy statement on child abuse and neglect. Then, describe a policy initiative you might introduce to further that position. Finally, describe the policies that already exist in your state and explain how your initiative might alter these existing policies.
