Organizational strategies for management of innovation

Chris is the health care administrator for Health Innovations South, a large network of regional hospitals and care centers that provide direct patient care and engage in health research. In a recent market analysis, Chris discovered that Health Innovations South is ranked among the lowest 25% of all health networks in promoting patient engagement, interaction with providers, and access to health information. Chris also noticed that all health networks that ranked in the top 25% had fully implemented patient-centered medical homes (PCMH) that allow health care professionals and patients to interact with each other and access health information to make informed decisions and to promote positive health outcomes.

Chris decides to bring this matter to the board at their next meeting as a call for action to improve Health Innovations South’s performance in empowering health care professionals and patients with such innovation. Recognizing that such a change requires organizational capacity for fostering continued innovation in practice, Chris also realizes the inherent risk in mobilizing current resources toward development of a PCMH. However, electing to not move forward with the development of the PCMH may hinder Health Innovations South’s performance in the marketplace. As a health care administrator committed to innovation, Chris is confident that such a move is indeed necessary.

For this Discussion, reflect on the scenario presented and consider the strategies that you, as a current or future health care administrator, might implement to improve organizational capacity for innovation.

By Day 3

Post an explanation of how an HSO might develop organizational capacity for innovation. Explain how you as a current or future health care administrator might assess the readiness of an HSO to develop organizational capacity for change. Then, explain how your organization might implement change management strategies for innovation, and explain why you would use those strategies. Be specific and provide examples.

Hrmt 620 unit 1 db2

Primary Task Response: Within the Discussion Board area, write 400–600 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas.

Additional Information: Earlier today, you attended a meeting with Shawn Williams, the new VP of global human capital management at Atlantis Global Corporation (AGC), and John Dawson, the company’s chief executive officer (CEO). John was very concerned about the financial losses at AGC. John’s main concerns were product market share and the threat of losing AGC’s market position as the top manufacturer of electronic circuit boards for high-definition television screens. However, John did not mention any issues relating to the employees who work at AGC. Last month, the general manager of one of AGC’s global subsidiaries told Shawn that it is difficult to recruit talent for AGC, that employees are not happy, and that many are leaving AGC to work for other organizations. Shawn discussed developing a new recognition-and-rewards program to attract talent, motivate employees, and improve job satisfaction. When Shawn brought the up human capital concerns at AGC in the meeting, John was not very interested and thought that employee-related issues are not critical to AGC’s performance. Shawn thinks that it will be challenging to work with John to implement a global human capital management strategy.

You and Shawn are scheduled to meet next week with John and the board of directors at AGC. Due to the urgency of the company’s situation, you and Shawn decide to create a briefing about the value and need for an optimized program for the management of global human capital.

Review the AGC scenario for this course and with your classmates; discuss the following questions that will help you and Shawn prepare for the briefing:

  • What are the differences between the leadership styles of Shawn and John? What are the pros and cons of each style?
  • What is your own leadership style? During the briefing, how will you use your leadership style to illustrate the intrinsic value of human capital?
  • What human capital management strategies will you recommend to John and the board of directors? What examples from other organizations can you provide to strengthen the board’s knowledge of global human capital trends and problems?

definition essay

How to Write a Definition Essay

What is a Definition Essay?

The term “definition essay” explains its meaning by itself; you should provide the audience with the complete definition of the particular word. You should expand the knowledge of the readers, give them new information they can’t find in a regular dictionary.

How to Create Definition Essay Outline?

Definition essay includes the regular parts of any other academic writing:

  • Introduction.
  • Thesis statement.
  • Body paragraphs (its number depends on the term you are going to explain and the complexity of chosen subject).
  • Conclusion.

Definition Essay Introduction

Keep in mind that before you embark on writing an informative and interesting introduction, you should make yourself familiar with a few rules. An introduction must include several essential elements. The first one is a conventional explanation of a primary term which you are going to describe. You should find it in the dictionary or on the web. If this term has a few meanings, you may pick the best ideas and add your personal view on the original word you are going to explain in your English definition essay.

At the beginning of the paper, you can mention something catchy and intriguing instead of the regular dictionary information. It can be a famous quotation, curious fact, surprising statistics, or a few shocking sentences regarding the topic (it depends on the effect you want to achieve). This section should be brief but informative.

Thesis Statement for a Definition Essay

This type of academic writing doesn’t have a regular thesis statement because a student shouldn’t prove any anything. If you want to write a good definition paper, you have to add a primary assertion of your work to the introduction. It is the last sentence of this section.

Definition Essay Body Paragraphs

A student may create three or more body paragraphs. It depends on the complexity of the chosen subject. The fundamental goal when writing the definition essay is to provide all the required facts about the word. Explain a few meanings if necessary.

To succeed with a definition essay body paragraph, you should follow some rules:

  • A new idea is a new paragraph.
  • If the word you’ve defined has more than one meaning, explain each of them.
  • Use examples, provide various points of view to support the core information.

Definition Essay Conclusion Tips

As with any other essay, this type of academic writing must have a proper conclusion. The primary aim of your work is to give the readers the complete definition of the exact term. The conclusion must summarize the information. Besides, it should be a shortened version of the paper. You may explain how the definition of the specific term or word influences your life. Readers love exciting facts from people’s experience and appreciate the sincere attitude.

Supply Chain Logistics Management

This week I want you to discuss… you, and you’re buying habits!

 Length and format: 800 words

Topic

Congratulations on the decision to buy a new car! As you’ll see, when it comes to procurement, we follow the same sets of rules as do most companies! Well, at least we should be following some rules, as so should many of the companies that currently don’t. By identifying what we need and how it fits our needs, when it’s needed, etc., we can much more easily define what we want and what we’re willing to pay.

So first, some rules: Go to the Business Dictionary where you will find an article on “The 10 Steps of the Procurement Cycle”. Apply these steps to your purchase of the new car. Tell me why you’re going to purchase that car, and how each step would apply. For example, Step 5 defines the need for a Purchase Order. To talk to this step, tell me if, when you go to the dealer, you will bring a list of what you want on your vehicle? Maybe you’ll have some payment terms already defined because you have a pre-approved loan from your bank. Tell me what you’ll bring.

Have some fun here. Perhaps you “own” a business and the new vehicle is a truck for deliveries, maybe heavy machinery for construction. Use your imagination! Apply the procurement process to your thoughts to help ensure you’re making the right decisions.

Part II

Part II Directions

  • Carefully analyze the personal spending you monitored for a week during Part I of the activity.
  • Identify the three spending categories in which you spent the most money.

Discussion Question: Making Decisions and Overcoming Bias

This assignment is just needed for a short two paragraph response.

For this discussion, imagine you’ve taken on the role of a manager at an engineering company. You’ve been approached by a supplier of goods—one you haven’t worked with before. The supplier shows you the new software package it is launching in a few months, and it piques your interest. The demo of the new technology shows you how it could really help your team design and develop projects faster. It also includes many add-ons for items that your company is not currently working on, but that your intuition says it should be.

The supplier’s study says that 90 percent of your industry will be transitioning to this new technology in a couple of years, and that if your company doesn’t move forward with it, you will fall behind. You are eager to grow revenue, develop your team, and wow your clients. The supplier says it is not making the new technology available to your competitors because it would prefer to partner with a prestigious company like yours. You think the supplier’s representative is knowledgeable about the new technology and your industry, and you enjoy the conversations you’ve had, but you still feel uneasy about making a decision on whether to partner with this new supplier.

Address the following:

  • What research steps need to take place before you can make a decision?
  • How would you use qualitative or quantitative data to help you make a decision? Explain the difference between these two methods.
  • How would you use primary and secondary sources to support your decision? Explain the difference between these two source types.

Interview

Step 1: This week you have researched the topic of moral development in early childhood. Your task is:

  • Create 10 open-ended interview questions that are directly related to this week’s topic, and you will use these questions in interviewing an early childhood professional.
  • Your objective is to find out how parents and professionals go about positively influencing moral development in children.
  • Seek out information about the following topics: How parents involve children in decision-making, how they discipline, how religion and values are nurtured, and other ways that children are taught moral development.
  •  You may want to ask follow-up questions to ensure that you get detailed information. You will submit your questions and the detailed interview answers.

Step 2: Your task is to analyze what you have learned from your interview and your research this week to write an essay to include:

  • Key points from this week’s reading on Moral Development

Your essay should be 1250-1500 words and should include at least three (3) citations. The sections should be clearly marked with headings so that your instructor knows which points you are addressing. Follow the guidelines for APA writing style. The title page and references page do not count towards the minimum word amount for this assignment.
