Using the concept of evaluation strategie

The strategy is created with a formative and summative component to determine whether the curriculum that has been designed is as strong as it can be. Knowing terms such as measurement, assessment and evaluation are important because they are frequently used as synonymous concepts. Measurement is what is used to gather the information which are generally the objective data, for example test scores, surveys, attendance records, weight, and heights. Next, we have the assessment to help explain about the data that has been gathered through, observations, interviews and other techniques that extend the results with the intent of giving meaning to the numbers. Evaluation processes the stronger the data the more effective one will be able to be defensible of the information gathered. A question that can be asked to ensure the concept is successful mastered is: How much process have we made toward our ultimate vison? Leave no doubt that you know what you are doing and what you are saying in the right and best information, show that documentation is key with all gathered data.  As the example that was used that if a patient is give a diagnosis from a doctor, they can get a second opinion. Making sure that you have definitive data to be able to ensure that the best information has been given and you have the proper data to back it up.

CRITICAL REVIEW OF BIPOLAR DISORDER

10-page critical review of the drug treatment for a neuropsychological disorder.  The review will use peer-reviewed and/or scholarly sources to provide an evidence base for the evaluation of current drug treatment modalities for the disorder.

USE THE DOCUMENTS ATTACHED as a foundation and support to help complete about Bipolar disorder and add any additional peer-reviewed/scholarly references that would support the comprehensive review. These sources should provide evidence-based information to help support the comprehensive analysis, focusing on the aspects described below. Utilized the DSM-5 as one of your sources.

1) Introduction:

Evaluate the disorder in terms of symptomatic and behavioral presentation. Include the time, course, and progression of the disorder. Evaluate and explain special features of the disease epidemiology including risk factors for development of the disorder, lifespan and reproductive factors increasing risk of developing the disorder, and any genetic, environmental, or behavioral factors that increase risk.

2) Theory:

Evaluate the predominant theory or theories regarding the biological basis of the disorder. Explain the disorder in terms of pertinent neurotransmitter and receptor theories and use your references to provide an evidence base for these theories.

Analyze neurotransmitter system(s) involved in the pathology of the disorder, including a description of:

1) the involved neurotransmitter(s) and receptor(s),

 2) regions of the nervous system (brain, spinal cord, or peripheral nervous system) involved with any pathological anatomical changes, and 3) abnormalities of neural circuits and pathways. Include an explanation of how receptor agonists or antagonists would theoretically treat the disorder to reverse the pathology and restore normal function, or why they would be expected to improve symptoms.

Treatment:

Evaluate drug therapies for treating the disorder based on the current understanding of the biological basis of the disorder. Include a description of the behavioral symptoms and physical signs of the disorder, and identify the drug class(es) used in pharmacological therapy with a discussion of the mechanism of action of the drug class(es). Explain why the pharmacodynamics of the drug class(es) would affect the pathology of the disorder to restore function and/or improve symptoms. Include a discussion of the drug pharmacokinetics for each drug class. Provide examples of available marketed drugs within each class. Describe any drug side effects and/or adverse effects of the drug treatment and their biological basis, including issues related to contraindications, interactions, drug metabolism, and elimination. In addition, explain risks, benefits, and ethical implications for high-risk and exceptional treatment conditions.

Conclusion:

Summarize theories of neuropsychological disorders as they relate to principles of drug action for that selected disorder. Provide a synopsis of the evidence base that supports or disproves current theories regarding the pathology of the disorder, advantages and disadvantages of current drug treatment(s). Lastly, evaluate any controversies regarding ethical and/or risk-benefit perspectives associated with the current treatment(s). Describe possible areas for future research.

Informative Writing: Prewriting and Outline

  • OverviewDevelop a one-page informative essay, addressing a concept or subject that drives your academic and career interests within your field.
Assessment 3 Introduction IllustrationYour quest continues as you apply your knowledge of the writing stages to the assessments for the second theme of the course: writing to inform. The purpose of writing an informative essay is to provide information and explain a concept. The purpose is not to give a personal opinion or tell a story.
SHOW LESSYou will start at the initial stage of writing again and complete the prewriting and outlining for this essay. Draw on the wisdom and experience you have acquired to further develop your academic writing skills.
Here are more heroes who use their experience for good:

    • Dr. Margaret Chan, director general of the World Health Organization, successfully led the response to the H5N1 flu outbreak in 1997 and SARS outbreak of 2003 in Hong Kong.
    • Bono, leader singer of the band U2, is also an activist who used his platform to create the organizations ONE (organization committed to end extreme poverty) and RED (organization committed to raising awareness of about the AIDS crisis).

  • Toggle DrawerResourcesInformative Writing
All writing assessments have a purpose. The purpose of this theme’s assessment is writing to inform. The Capella resource Q: What is the difference between informative and persuasive writing? explains the purpose of informative writing. As you move through your academic career, you will learn how to support your beliefs and ideas with accurate research from your discipline. You will become a researcher.
    Audience, Focus, and Context
Consider your audience. Who you choose to write for influences how you write. Your instructor is, of course, part of the audience for your paper; however, you do not need to write exclusively for your instructor. Think of this: who needs to hear what you want to say?

    • Audience.
      • Understanding your audience will help you to focus your writing. Effective writing is focused writing.
    • Focus.
      • Focused writing is easier to accomplish within the appropriate context.
    • Context.
      • In this assessment, the context is to write an informative paper about an area within your discipline, for example.
    • ePortfolio
Use the Pathbrite ePortfolio resources available on Campus to help with establishing and building your ePortfolio.
  • Asssessment InstructionsThe purpose of your essay is to inform the reader about a topic within your discipline. Identify and explain how a concept, a subject, or an experience within your discipline drives your academic and career interests. You can choose from the following disciplines: nursing, public health, business, information technology, or psychology. For this assessment, compose your outline for the informative essay. Find one peer-reviewed, academic article from the Capella library to use as support.
    Preparation
Begin your library research by going to the Capella University Library and searching using the Summon search tool. Locate one article in the library that contains information about your selected topic. Remember: You will write both your informative and persuasive essays on this topic.

    1. Go to the Capella University Library and locate the Summon search box.
    2. Click Advanced Search.
    3. Enter your search term in the box. Check Items with full text online and Scholarly materials, including peer-reviewed under the “Limit to” filter. This way, you will know that your results are both in full text (so you will be able to read the entire article online), and that they meet the important requirement of being scholarly and peer reviewed by other experts in the field.
    4. Remember that research is a skill set that, like writing, takes ongoing practice. For search word guidance, see the video Choosing and Using Keywords from the General Education Information Research Skills Guide. Also, feel free to Ask a Librarian for help.
Remember: The purpose of an informative essay is to provide information and explain a concept. In this assessment, you are not persuading or trying to convince your reader of something. Ask yourself: What does my reader need to know?
      Assessment Instructions
      Complete the following:
    • Create an outline for your informative essay.
    • Select a scholarly library article relevant to a chosen informative essay topic.
    • List the article at the end of your outline on a separate reference page.
    • Credit the author of the article within the outline.
    • Apply in text the standard writing conventions for the discipline, including structure, voice, person, tone, and citation formatting.
    • Apply proper formatting, including a title page, correct margins, font, and spacing.
    • Produce text with minimal grammar, usage, spelling, and mechanical errors.
    • Use the Developing an Outline [PDF] to guide you as you develop your outline.

memorandum

The Cardigan family has made a name for themselves in the sweater industry whereby they have designed sweaters for a variety of uses and for a wide target audience ranging from toddlers to business professionals. Cassandra, whom everyone calls Cassie, is the CEO of CARDWARE Inc., Camoni is the spokesperson for the sweater line, and Candie models the lines in the professional sphere. They often use their mother, Camille, as a business consultant for input about various new ideas and marketing because she was the manager and agent of her son’s glove company. Cora and Caley, Camille’s two youngest daughters from her second failed marriage to Bo Jenkins, are co-office managers of their headquarters located in Silkadonia.

Camille has developed a good network among those in the fashion industry, especially the seamstresses who have been hired by well-known celebrities. One day, Camille spoke with Sonya, the owner and Lead Seamstress for Shazam Clothing Industries. Shazam is a leading manufacturer of unique limited edition clothes in Silkadonia. Camille presented Sonya with her order to sew a limited number (500) of hot pink and black machine knitted sweaters with a matching knit hat. Each sweater was to have a number and Candie Cardigan’s signature on a label sewn onto the bottom right side of the sweater. The hats would have the same label with matching number to its sweater, but sewn on the right side of the turned up hat cuff. Sonya agreed to make each sweater and hat pair for $100. Camille’s plan was to sell each set for $300 thereby making a $200 profit per set. While discussing the type of yarn to be used, Sonya’s cell phone rang. Sonya pushed a piece of paper and a color palette towards Camille and whispered “write the type of yarn you want used and exact dye lots” and I will begin work on this right away. Camille did as requested, but forgot to give Sonya the traditional 25 % down payment. The down payment has always been used to purchase the materials.

Sonya completed production of all 500 sweaters in record time and has presented Camille with an invoice for payment for the same. At the bottom of the invoice, the words, “Payment Due Upon Receipt” were written. Camille changed her mind about wanting the sweaters and hats, as she decided that the items would not be as profitable as originally anticipated. Sonya now comes to the law firm you work for, P. Strami, and Hammond, Attorneys at Law, and wants to know if she has any recourse. Attorney Strami hands you the following instructions and asks that you draft a memorandum to him incorporating your research.

Dear Paralegal:

Please prepare a 2–3-page double-spaced memorandum in size 12 Times New Roman font discussing the following in the order presented:

  • Please determine whether or not a contract has been formed using the basic contract principles of offer, acceptance, and consideration. State whether or not any of the crucial parts of the initial offer may be missing.
  • Further, please research whether or not Camille and Sonya’s prior course of dealings has an impact on the parties’ communications and whether or not Sonya would be successful against CARDWARE Inc. should a breach of contract lawsuit be brought against her.
  • Do not forget to provide your legal research within your memorandum. You may use case law to make comparisons, your textbook, and reliable Internet research to provide in-text citations for your work. Do not use Wikipedia.

Prepare your memorandum paying particular attention to the following:

  • For confidentiality reasons, please prepare an APA formatted cover sheet with your memorandum. Do not forget to indicate which unit the Assignment is for.
  • Be sure to avoid the use of first person. Instead, convey your research utilizing third person.
  • Be sure to discuss any ethical perspectives/concerns with regard to the parties’ communications.

In addition to fulfilling the specifics of the assignment, a successful paper must also meet the following criteria:

  • Include a cover page and references page in 10 – 12 point font (Arial, Courier, and Times New Roman are acceptable)
  • Viewpoint and purpose should be clearly established and sustained
  • Assignment should follow the conventions of Standard English (correct grammar, punctuation, etc.)
  • Writing should be well ordered, logical and unified, as well as original and insightful
  • Your work should display superior content, organization, style, and mechanics
  • Appropriate citation style should be followed

You should also make sure to:

  • Include a title page with full name, class name, section number, and date
  • Include an introductory and concluding paragraph and demonstrate college-level communication through the composition of original materials in Standard English
  • Use examples to support your discussion
  • Cite all sources on a separate reference page at the end of your paper and cite within the body of your paper using APA format and citation style. For more information on APA guidelines, visit Academic Tools.

Discussion 2: What Makes a Good Interview?

The intent of a qualitative interview is to encourage, elicit, and illuminate the interviewee’s experience in rich, thick detail. Consider that most interviewees will only have a general idea of your research goals and the depth you need for analysis. Therefore, your presentation of the interview questions and engagement with the interviewee are the tools that guide the process.

As you consider your interview, think about:

  1. Asking of questions to ask to encourage stories and examples
  2. How to “reframe” questions to reduce ambiguity and bias
  3. What you can do to make the interviewee at ease
  4. What you can do to build rapport and trust

For this Discussion, you will examine the characteristics of a good qualitative interview.

To prepare for this Discussion:

  • Review the chapters of the Rubin and Rubin course text and consider the characteristics of a good qualitative interview.
  • Review the Yob and Brewer interview questions in Appendix A at the end of the article and consider how interview guides are used in research.
  • Review the Interview Guide Instructions and the Interview Guide Example found in this week’s Learning Resources and use these documents to guide you during your interview.

ASSIGNMENT

Post your explanation of the characteristics of a good qualitative interview. Also include what makes a good interview guide. Use the interview questions from Yob and Brewer’s interview guide to support your post.

Be sure to support your main post and response post with reference to the week’s Learning Resources and other scholarly evidence in APA style.

british literature

  1. Only MSWord files will be accepted.  All submitted assignments must be in correct MLA format with any source used properly cited for credit.  Any uncited source material is plagiarism.  Familiarize yourself with the Purdue OWL; it and other useful resources are available via links on my page on the Learning Web.
  2. Be aware that the matter of MLA requirements (the header, the first page information, the title, and the work cited entry list) do not count towards the required length for any assignment.
  3. The Purdue OWL’s section regarding MLA is available at https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/mla_style/mla_formatting_and_style_guide/mla_formatting_and_style_guide.html (Links to an external site.).
  4. Each submission must be an original, unique, previously unsubmitted work on the part of the student author.
  5. Each submission must be a minimum of 600 words in length, responding clearly, effectively, and directly with the prompt in the form of a brief essay.
  6. Remember to both be sure that the submission has an overarching, provable thesis, claims to build its case, and support and explication for the various claims. Repeating the prompt is not making a thesis statement.
  7. Do not forget to proofread and edit carefully and effectively. While these journals are not formal essays, getting in the practice before the final essay and developing useful and effective writing habits starts with the small stuff.

For this journal, you need to respond, citing textual moments from all three texts thus far, effectively and clearly to the prompt:

In Darmok, Defense of Posie, and the Preface to Regulia Pastoralis, the texts all raise issues of language, literature, and culture.  Implicit in the arguments are the ideas of education, what it is, what purpose it serves, and how one gets / receives an education.

What are those ideas?  How does each text engage them?  What have YOU learned about education, especially as you have chosen to take this class?  Teach me to understand your strategic position in relation to your own education.
