2. How can a community health nurse assist in the spiritual care of the individual, community, self, and colleagues?

Part 3: Concepts in community

Watch the “Diary of Medical Mission Trip” videos dealing with the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti in 2010. Reflect on this natural disaster by answering the following questions:

1. Propose one example of a nursing intervention related to the disaster from each of the following levels- Provide innovative examples:

a.Primary prevention

b. Secondary prevention

c. Tertiary prevention.

2. Under which phase of the disaster do the three proposed interventions fall?

a. Explain why you chose that phase.

3. With what people or agencies would you work in facilitating the proposed interventions and why?

Part 4: Concepts in community

Suppose you did the teaching plan addressing the following information (See File 1):

Population: The elderly aged 65 years and above

Clinical site: Hialeah Hospital

Your role: Nurse educator

Intervention level: Primary prevention/Health promotion of Risk of Falls in the Elderly at their homes

Taking into account the above information-remember already you did the teaching plan, you must to answers the following questions:

1. Summary of teaching plan

You can guide with this information, but you must develop a whole summary, so, is not allow copy and paste the next information:

This community teaching aims to teach elderly persons the risk of falls and what they can do to avoid falls while at home to promote their general health. This topic was selected because there are high cases of elderly falls; approximately 60% of community-dwelling older adults in nursing homes fall every year. Many elderly persons do not understand why they frequently fall, which is one of the primary reasons this topic came to mind. The elderly have several risk factors for falls, including increasing age, cognitive impairment, sensory deficits, and medication use. Understanding these factors is essential in improving the health of the elderly by preventing them from frequent falls. Moreover, the topic is essential in educating the elderly on why falls are dangerous, what increases their risks for falls, and how they can prevent falls. The older adults who fall can experience severe injuries like fractures of their hips and other bones, cuts, and head trauma, making it difficult for them to move around, preventing them from living independently (Sharif et al., 2018). In addition, in older adults, falls are the primary cause of brain damages, which can be life-threatening. Teaching the elderly that their risk for falls increases as they get older, having certain health conditions such as osteoporosis, Parkinson’s disease, drinking alcohol, multiple sclerosis, stroke, changes in blood pressure, difficulties walking, depression, bladder problems, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer of the bone, arthritis, hearing loss, vision loss, or irregular heartbeat. By knowing the risks that increase their likelihood of falls will enable them to understand how to prevent falls. For example, the program will educate them on regular exercising, regular eye check, telling healthcare providers the medications they are taking, avoiding taking alcohol, wearing shoes with firm, flat, non-slip soles, adequately lighting their homes, keeping floors clear and safe, and fall-proofing their bathrooms.

2. Epidemiological rationale for the topic (Falls in the Elderly at their homes )

3. Evaluation of teaching experience (good)

4. Community response to teaching (good)

5. Describe your areas of strengths (2) and areas of improvement (2) as a nurse educator

6. Conclusion about the educating experience as a nurse educator with this population and the topic (1/2 page)

Part 5: Nursing and aging

Topic: Comfort and Pain Managemen

1. What are some ways you as the nurse can utilize to determine pain in the older adult

2. What are some of the potential barriers related  to self-reporting of pain in the older adult?

ASSAULT, BATTERY, AND CRIMES

Assignment 3: Assault, Battery, and Crimes against Persons
Due Week 10 and worth 190 points

Review the following scenario in order to complete this assignment:

(A) is walking alone late at night when a man suddenly jumps in front of her and drags her into an alley. The attacker strikes (A) and rips her clothes. Fortunately, (A) hits the attacker with a rock and runs to safety.

Use the Internet or Strayer databases to research assault, battery, and crimes against persons.

Write a four to six (4-6) page paper in which you:

  1. Compare and contrast the key similarities and differences between the crime of assault and the crime of battery. Provide one (1) example of each crime to support your response.
  2. Determine whether or not the jurisdiction in which the crime has occurred should consider the man’s actions as assault. Next, determine whether or not the jurisdiction should punish the man’s actions as battery. Justify your response.
  3. Suggest one (1) different fact pattern that would change the scenario from assault and / or battery to consensual touching. Support the validity of your response.

Consider the following change to the scenario. (A) is held against her will.

  1. Discuss the crime of false imprisonment. Next, debate whether or not the suggested change in Question 3 would allow the court to convict the attacker in order to punish him. Provide a rationale to support your response.
  2. Differentiate between the crimes of false imprisonment and kidnapping. Support or critique the notion that one of the two crimes is more heinous than the other. Justify your response.

Consider the following change to the scenario. (A) and the attacker are romantically linked and are having an argument. The attacker drags (A) in the alley to talk. (A) slaps the attacker.

  1. Debate whether or not (A)’s action would require the attacker to defend himself. Provide a rationale to support your response.
  2. Use at least three (3) quality academic resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar type Websites do not qualify as academic resources.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Explain the role of individuals and federal, state, and local government agencies in crime fighting and prosecution of criminal offenses.
  • Analyze the essential legal elements of criminal conduct.
  • Explain the concept of criminal liability.
  • Apply the concept of criminal responsibility and give examples of justifications, excuses, and incapacity for criminal acts.
  • Contrast crimes against persons, crimes against property, and other types of criminal conduct.
  • Use technology and information resources to research issues in criminal law.
  • Write clearly and concisely about criminal law using proper writing mecha

create a poster

To create a poster with several guiding principles for optimizing the physical space in an early childcare center and to evaluate your poster.

Scenario:
You are the director of a childcare center for infants and toddlers. You have several novice teachers on your staff whose infant learning environments do not align with NAEYC recommendations.

After watching the video, “Appropriate Learning Environments and Room Arrangements,” you realize that the teachers would benefit from a set of basic, recommended guidelines. You decide to make a poster to summarize several of these guidelines, drawing from the advice of early childhood specialists, before meeting with each teacher to discuss how best to rearrange classroom furniture, toys, books, and so on. You annotate each guideline on your poster, explaining the advantages from the child’s perspective. Last, you do the same, explaining the advantages from the teacher’s perspective.

create a poster, using digital tools, that summarize six recommended guidelines for creating a warm, stimulating, and engaging space for infants and toddlers. Then annotate each guideline, explaining the benefits from the child’s point of view. Explain the benefit of each guideline from the teacher’s perspective.

Self-Reflection: 50 points

  1. For each item of your poster, explain how this guideline addresses the issues in the scenario

Topic: The volatile IP address in the IT sector & how forensics helped them detect

Gather all final project material:

  • final paper (minimum 5 references, A 500-700 word, double spaced paper, written in APA format, showing sources)
  • power point (PPT)
  • Bibliography (An annotated bibliography of at least five sources. The annotations must be at least five sentences long)

DESCRIPTION:

In order to avoid precise identification and commit serious crimes in other nations where they cannot be punished, cybercriminals always use secure software to stay anonymous, which is proxy servers that mask their location and channel their messages via several countries. They use a mix of conventional investigative and complex digital forensics techniques in addition to these collaborations.

Also as A IT professional I see a lot of hackers attempting to intrude external data into my businesses, my interest in taking this project has struck my mind to include digital forensics that can identify and solve this problem.

Digital forensics plays a significant role in preventing cyber – crime in the areas of information networks. In fact, digital forensics is a particular branch of forensic science dealing with the examination and restoration of substances retrieved from electronic device forms, and these devices are linked to crime in most cases. In order to ensure the reliability of network equipment for computer networks, digital forensics plays a significant role. A study based by a start-up company located in Luton has been demonstrated in this field. It was successfully assessed from the case that digital forensics is very helpful in digital crime investigation (Seigfried-Spellar, K. C, 2017). Digital forensics has played a significant role in the resolution of numerous criminal cases, including murder, abuse, smuggling, and many more. Digital forensics has also been analyzed from an overall viewpoint as relevant for law enforcement and plays a significant role in resolving various crimes.

HISTORY 175 Primary Source Analysis

Instructions: Read the two primary sources provided and answer the following questions at the bottom. The length of your analysis should be at least a paragraph or more. These assignments should not be answered in only 3-4 sentences. An excellent analysis will be thorough and detailed, providing a lot of in-depth discussion. Use complete sentences and check your grammar/spelling. Submit your answer as a text entry or as a separate file, saved as a word document or PDF. The grading rubric is posted at the bottom of this assignment page.

What does it mean to analyze and interpret a source?

When you are analyzing a text, you are breaking it down into parts to understand it. You then interpret each part by explaining it in your own words. You look at what it is, what the author meant, who the intended audience is, how ongoing events during that time affected the author’s argument, and why it is significant. As a result, you are doing more then just directly answering the question below.

———

From Ida B. Wells, Lynch Law in All its Phases (1893)

After being driven from Memphis because of her outspoken opposition to lynching, Ida B. Wells campaigned to awaken the public to racial terrorism. This is an excerpt from a speech she delivered in Boston in 1893.

I am before the American people today through no inclination of my own, but because of a deep-seated conviction that the country at large does not know the extent to which lunch law prevails in parts of the republic…

Although the impression has gone abroad that most of the lynching take place because of assaults on white women only one-third of the number lynched in the pas ten years have been charged with that offence, to say nothing of those who were not guilty of the charge… But the unsupported word of any white person for any cause if sufficient to cause a lynching… Governors of states and officers of the law stand by and see the work well done.

And yet this Christian nation, the flower of the nineteenth century civilization, says it can do nothing to stop this inhuman slaughter. The general government is willingly powerless to send troops to protect the lives of its black citizens… The lawlessness which has been here described is like unto that which prevailed under slavery. The very same forces are at work not as then. [They] can be traced to the very first year Lee’s conquered veterans marched from Appomattox to their homes in the southland. They were conquered in war, but not in spirit. They believed as firmly as ever that it was their right rule black men and dictate to the national government… All their laws are shaped to this end—schools laws, railroad car regulations… every device is adopted to make slaves of free men… The rule of the mob is absolute …

Do you ask the remedy? A public sentiment strong against lawlessness must be aroused [to demand] that equal and exact justice be accorded to every citizen of whatever race, who finds a home within the borders of the land of the free and the home of the brave.

From W.E.B. Du Bois, The Souls of Black Folk (1903)

Like Wells, the black educator and activist W.E.B. Du Bois demanded equal treatment for black Americans. In The Souls of Black Folk, he sought to revive the tradition of agitation for basic civil, political, and educational rights, and for recognition of blacks as full members of American society.

The silently growing assumption of this age is that … the backward races of to-day are of proven inefficiency and not worth the saving. Such an assumption is the arrogance of peoples irreverent towards time and ignorant of the deeds of men. A thousand years ago such assumption, easily possible, would have made it difficult for the Teuton to prove his right to life. Two thousand years ago such dogmatism, readily welcome, would have [refuted] the idea of blond races ever leading civilization…

Your country? How came it yours? Before the Pilgrims landed we were here. Here we have brought our three gifts and mingled them with yours: a gift of story and song—soft, stirring melody in an ill-harmonized and unmelodious land; the gift of swear and brawn to beat back the wilderness, conquer the soil, and lay the foundations of this cast economic empire two hundred years earlier than your weak hands could have done it; the third, a gift of the Spirit. Around us the history of the land has centered for thrice a hundred years… Actively we have woven ourselves with the very warp and woof of this nation,–we fought their battles, shared their sorrow, mingled our blood with theirs, and generation after generation have pleaded with a headstrong, careless people to despise not Justice, Mercy, and Truth, lest the nation be smitten with a curse. Our song, our toil, our cheer, and warning have been given to this nation in blood-brotherhood. Are not these gifts worth the giving? Is not this work and striving? Would America have been America without her Negro people?

Analyze and interpret the document to answer the following question(s):

  1. Whom does Wells blame for lynching?
  2. In what ways does Du Bois criticize and in what ways does he seem to embrace the idea of inborn racial characteristics and abilities?
  3. Who is the intended audience for each of these documents?
  4. How do Wells and Do Bois appeal to history to bolster their claims?

TIP: When analyzing a primary source document, consider who, what, when, and why. For example, how does location, current events (of the period), and who the author is play a role in the author’s intent/message? Remember that you are not just answering the question, you are also breaking down parts of the source to analyze and interpret the author’s message.

A successful and strong analysis will provide evidence (specific example from the text/quote) to help explain and support the interpretation. However, do not let the quotes overshadow your own analysis.

Week 6

Assignment: Recognizing and Responding to Those Who Self-Harm

For some adolescents, experiencing physical pain becomes a regular practice for managing psychological pain. Whether used as a coping mechanism, a way to express anger, or to deal with intense emotional pain, self-harming is often a call for help.

In school settings, faculty and staff are charged with protecting students, but how can they protect those students who choose to harm themselves? The importance of educators understanding the circumstances, causes, and effects of self-harming behavior so they can respond quickly and effectively cannot be overstated. For this Assignment, consider your role as a social worker and think about how you would raise awareness for educators to respond to this increasing maladaptive coping mechanism.

By Day 7

Submit a 5- to 6-slide PowerPoint presentation explaining the indicators of self-harm, appropriate interventions, and follow-up steps for educators needing to respond to those who self-harm.

PowerPoint slides should present bulleted text on the slides with a full transcript of the presentation in the notes section.

Unit 4 Discussions

Unit 4 DB: What Makes Teams Successful? (MGT105 Principles of Management)

Research a team that you consider successful.  It could be a sports or project team that you were a part of, a professional sports team, or a business team.  You MUST cite the team you’ve researched in your post.

  1. First, describe what made the team effective making connections to this week’s reading materials.
  2. Did your team have some, or all of the key characteristics of effective teams covered in your reading?  Provide examples of those shown, and reasons you believe for those not shown.
  3. Describe the processes the team set goals and choose its members.
  4. Do you think the team’s success depended on these processes?
  5. Why or why not?

Unit 4.1 Discussion: Asian Empires (HIS101 World Civilization)

Debate with your classmates whether the dynastic cycle is unique to China or can it be connected to other civilizations throughout history. Do you believe that Sassanid Persia or Gupta India represent a form of the Dynastic Cycle as evidenced in Chinese history? Make sure to include specific examples to support your position. When responding to classmates, provide new, additional research to support or disprove their position. Make sure to use proper APA format for all citations provided and include a reference list for the citations you use.

Unit 4.2 Discussion: Ancient Japan (HIS101 World Civilization)

Discuss with your classmates the influence of China on the political and religious development of Japan during the first millennium CE. Debate which influences you believe to be the most important in shaping the culture of Japan. In your debate, explain if this influence had a positive or negative effect on Japan’s development and society. Make sure to provide specific examples to support your position. When responding to your classmates, include new, additional research to support or disprove their position. Make sure to use proper APA format for all citations provided and include a reference list for the citations you use.

Unit 4 Discussion: Pricing Strategies (MKT200 – Principles of Marketing)

Typically, a business owner can choose from a variety of pricing strategies. The choice of strategy depends on information gathered during analysis of the internal (costs & profits) and external environments of the venture:

  • Competition
  • Economy
  • Technology
  • Natural
  • Legal/Regulatory
  • Socio-Cultural

Simulated Business Scenario
Avery is a business coach serving clients with small to medium sized businesses in a variety of marketplaces.

Avery is preparing for an initial meeting with a potential new client, Manny. Manny operates a small traditional shoe store in Tuscaloosa, Michigan with a population of 125,000. As Avery conducted her research, she quickly learns that the business has been in operation since Manny’s
father opened the doors in 1969. The success of the business was based on excellent customer service.
At an early age, Manny learned a simple 2-stage business philosophy:

  • Rule      #1. The customer is always right
  • Rule      #2. Re-Read Rule #1

Manny took over the business in 2011, and since then, eCommerce has been eating away at sales volume and

profits. He has longstanding relationships with 3 generations of Tuscaloosians but he is losing market share to local discounters and online sellers like Amazon, The Real Real, and eBay.

During the initial consultation, and considering his excellent customer policies, Manny insists that his only option is to revamp his pricing strategies. He informs Avery that she will earn the consulting contract if she presents 3 separate pricing strategies for Manny’s consideration.

 Question

  1. What pricing strategies can Avery suggest to Manny in order to stop the decline in sales and regain lost market share?
  2. Other than price, what other strategies can Avery suggest to Manny to regaimarket share?

Unit 4 Discussion: Alzheimer’s (PSY102 Fundamentals of Psychology II)

Alzheimer’s disease is a devastating illness characterized by memory loss.  Read a current events or scientific journal article about Alzheimer’s disease.

  1. Share the findings with your classmates.
  2. Discuss the implications for expanding our knowledge about Alzheimer’s disease.  You may include:
    1. How does Alzheimer’s disease affect the brain?
    2. What are some of the greatest challenges faced by Alzheimer’s patients and their families?
    3. What are some potential treatments for Alzheimer’s disease or strategies that slow memory decline?

Unit 4 DB: Critical Period for Language Development (PSY201 Child Development)

Do you believe there is a critical period for language development?  Why or why not?  In thinking about your response, consider at least two of the following:

  • The case of Genie Wiley
  • Bilingualism
  • Deaf children who have their hearing restored by cochlear implants
  • Recovery from brain injury to language areas

Based on your response, what advice would you give to parents/caregivers regarding promotion of language development in children?

You may also support your opinion with other relevant research findings of interest to you.

NURSING ASSIGNMENT- (APA FORMAT with ZERO PLAGIARISM)

A

Instructions

1.Identify a specialty nursing organization closely related to your current or future area of practice focus. (American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) www.aadenet.org) identified

2.Locate a copy of the ANA Standards of Practice and Performance from that specialty nursing organization. You will be using this document in a discussion activity later in the course as well as in the final Teaching Project Summary paper. (Hospital policies and guidelines are not suitable for use in this course!)

3.Submit a reflection to your mentor via Submissions indicating your identified specialty organization standards. Use this reflection to indicate if you have questions.

Your reflection should include:

  • Describe the Professional Standards of Practice and Performance that you have chosen to use as the basis for this teaching project (i.e. from what nursing specialty, year published, etc.)
  • Describe how the chosen standards address the teaching/learning role in nursing practice
  • Describe how you will use the information contained in the Professional Standards of Practice and Performance to guide the development of your instructional intervention, and promote a change in practice

B

Instructions

Critical Thinking. The instructional design process begins with the identification of an instructional problem or need. The purpose for identifying a problem is to determine whether instruction should be part of the solution. The activity is the first step in conducting a needs assessment. Your goal with this activity is to apply critical thinking skills to identify problems in your workplace (or community if no workplace) and describe the gap between what is expected and the existing conditions.

Your posting to the discussion forum should include the following information. Use the subjects Problem 1 and Problem 2 followed by a 2-5 word short description of the problem:

  • Identify two (2) problems in your workplace or community for which the lack of knowledge contributes significantly to each of the problems. One of these problems will ultimately become the focus of your teaching project. Use (“increased hospital readmission in patients with diabetes”) as one of the      problems. This is required for teaching project.
  • Describe the gap between what is expected and the existing condition or problem.
  • Explain why you think teaching may be the solution to each of these problems
  • Identify one possible obstacle for the learner in receiving instruction on each topic/problem in a group format
  • Identify one possible barrier for you as the designer and provider of instruction for each problem.

Exercise: The Rehnquist Revolution

The following learning goals apply to this exercise:

  • Memorize the structure of the judicial system
  • State the characteristics of the Supreme Court
  • Describe the Supreme Court’s process for hearing cases and reaching decisions
  • Discuss Marbury vs Madison and the concept of judicial review

Please watch the five videos titled, The Rehnquist Revolution. You’ll find them in the module for this session. Then answer these questions.

Your answers should be grounded in the videos and should explicitly reference information provided within them. Whenever you reference a specific point from the video, please include the video number and the time at which that point is made (for example: Part 4, 2:47)

  1. According to the videos, what is the legacy of the Rehnquist Court? In your answer, please discuss the court case that best demonstrates that legacy. Hint: “The Rehnquist Court” refers to the era during which William Rehnquist was Chief Justice. So don’t use Roe v. Wade. Your answer to this question should be about 250 words.
  2. Pick one case from the videos that you wish the Rehnquist Court had decided differently. Do you think the Court made the wrong decision? Why or why not? In your answer, focus on the case itself and how it was decided. Please choose a case different from the one you discussed in your answer to Question 1. Your answer to this question should be about 250 words.

After posting your answers, please find one classmate with whom you agree or disagree in whole or in part on Question 2. Address his or her argument about the court case. Explain why you agree or disagree and/or what you believe the argument is missing. If you do agree with the classmate, be sure that you still “add something” to the discussion, as opposed to simply restating his or her argument. Avoid simply restating the arguments you made in your post, too. The best conversations will focus on the reasoning behind the verdict (as opposed to your personal beliefs about the rightness or wrongness of abortion, gun regulation, etc.).

If anyone addresses your thread, please respond. You don’t have to offer a lengthy response, but at least acknowledge that your argument was addressed. Discussing your classmate’s commentary can only help your grade.

Note: You must post your essay before viewing replies. Essays that are posted after the poster viewed replies will be marked down one letter grade.

Before beginning, I recommend you read this example of an A-level discussion post.

WEEK 7DISCUSSION REPLY 1

Case #1:  A 55-year-old woman presents to the office with bloody urine and dysuria
of 12-hour duration. She was recently married and has never had similar
symptoms. She denies chills and fever. On physical examination she is afebrile, has normal vital signs, and has mild tenderness in the midline above the pubis. Her urinalysis shows too many to count (TNTC) red blood cells.

1.    What is the definition of bacteriuria?  Bacteriuria is the presence of bacteria in the urine (Huether & McCance 2018, p.1256).
Asymptomatic bacteriuria is the presence of bacteria in the urine with no signs or symptoms of a UTI (Cai et al, 2016).
2.    What additional history do you need to make a diagnosis?  The onset of symptoms and a thorough medical history is needed for diagnosis.

3.    What diagnostic studies would you order and why?  I would order a urinalysis and a urine culture.  A urinalysis is a diagnostic procedure obtained from a fresh, cleanly voided specimen (Huether & McCance 2018, p.1256).  It includes urine color evaluation, turbidity, protein, pH, specific gravity, sediment, and supernatant.  There are few or no red blood cells in normal urine (Huether & McCance 2018, p.1256).  A large number of red blood cells in urine is hematuria (Huether & McCance 2018, p.1256).  The urine sediment may be red or brown.  A urine culture is also from freshly voided urine.  To diagnose an uncomplicated uti, urine is tested for positive leukocyte esterase or nitrite reductase (Huether & McCance 2018, p.1256).  If bacteria is found in the urine, the urine culture and antibiotic sensitivity warrants treatment with microorganism specific antibiotics (Huether & McCance 2018, p.1256).  Follow up urine cultures should be done 1 week after treatment has started.
