Hist signature assignment

 Using primary texts supplied IN THE FOLDERS ABOVE, choose two pro-slavery and two anti-slavery documents and write a 750-word essay that demonstrates how the proponents and opponents of slavery used the themes that frame this course when making their arguments (Mobility, Democracy, Capitalism, and Difference).

You should identify the authors’ main point, and utilizing two of the four themes, examine how they defended their position. Your paper should conclude by explaining why some contemporaries of slavery may have found certain arguments compelling, while others found them offensive (to conclude effectively, you will need to explain the historical context in which these texts were written, based on what you have read in the text and learned in class discussion).

 NB: you are not expected to incorporate all of the sources listed, just those relevant to your approach to the paper prompt. Your paper must be submitted as a MS Word document, which can be attached and uploaded by clicking the red text, above

.Please note that the proslavery texts reflect the racism found in many quarters of nineteenth-century America.  As historians, it is only right that we reject these views as we analyze how these writers constructed their defense of slavery.  Other researchers have noted that the proslavery appeal to racism was intended to undermine the Abolitionist efforts to put forth “all men are created equal” as the core American value (see the antislavery texts).  Please beware that the level of racism seen in these documents can be shocking and disturbing to modern readers.

No secondary sources, other than the text, should be integrated into this paper’s analysis.

  • Your paper should briefly introduce your paper’s topic or question and provide a thesis statement. In a paper of this size, your introduction and thesis statement should appear on the first page, in the paper’s first paragraph.
  • Your paper should show that you reasoned through the evidence in a fair-minded way. In other words, you should state (paraphrase) what your evidence says and not what you wish it said or think it should say. You need to state the evidence fairly, even if you think it wrong or offensive.
  • Your paper should use evidence to answer the historical question. You need to explain how the evidence answers the question. The easiest way to figure this is to think through your evidence and argument using one or more of the key concepts for this course.
  • Your paper should briefly explain an implication or limitation of your analysis. For an implication, you might consider how your analysis sheds light on one of the course’s key terms. For a limitation, you might note which key concepts your analysis does not (or cannot) address.
  • Your paper should develop and organize your thoughts clearly and logically. Outlining is a necessary, but not required, step in writing a well-organized paper.
  • Your paper should draw a conclusion that addresses the paper’s chief topic or question and that states your answer to the question or your contribution to the topic.

How to cite the sources using MLA:

Below you will see examples of the formatting for citing your sources.  Note that there is an “in text” format, which appears after you directly cite or paraphrase a passage from one of the sources.  The “cited reference page” format is for listing only the sources you use, at the very end of the paper.

Leading by Managing Conflict – Multicultural Teams Assignment

MULTICULTURAL TEAMS ASSIGNMENT

You are the US employee of a US company.

You are the LEADER of the team which is to outline what the business concept would be to take the existing business to Japan. It would involve a project lasting several months. Half of the time would be spent living in Japan using experts, associates, and senior consultants from a consulting firm in Tokyo and also some of their retail experts throughout the world. Your team will do everything from consumer research to competitive analysis to considering mergers and acquisitions.

The Team: You and three older men from the company. A consultant from Germany, who is fluent in English, and has lived in the U.S. the last three years. A consultant from India. Two consultants from Japan. (As well as the experts from Japan.)

  1. Challenge: The Japanese would definitely not participate when the group got bigger than a few. They would not talk on topics that were not their responsibility.
  2. Challenge: The need to follow the direction from the top is explicit in Japan. If the president or leader of the company mandates an action, process, procedure, or policy, it is considered law. This is true even if it causes complications or hardships.
  3. Challenge: You do not have a timeline. The India consultant said it would take a year and a half. One of the Americans said it would take four or five months.
  4. Challenge: There are differences in communication and perceptions. The Japanese consultants, since they are from the culture in question, have preconceived ideas of what they should find. The rest of you have other preconceived ideas of what you should find. It is difficult when interpreting data about what the data really meant or what was the most important issue. You do not know what their assumptions are.
  5. Challenge: Even though you are the leader, you are the youngest person on the team and have the least experience. Others on the team, including the Americans, have reservations about your ability to lead, but your boss believes that you are talented and are capable of overseeing this project.

As the leader of the team, discuss and explain in a WORD document how you will deal with each challenge. (1-2 paragraph each for each challenge)

*If you feel the need to do some additional research to do this assignment, that is fine, but if you use someone else’s work or another source, be sure to cite it. (MLA format) (12pts, Times New Roman) (1-inch margins)

300 words Contractual questions: Disclosure of an LLC Business

This document should be 300 words in length, double spaced, one-inch margins. Please make sure all sources are properly cited using APA style. The document should cover the following legal aspects:

Identify what licensing and regulatory requirements impact your business and how you are addressing them. Please read the following scenario and reply to the above question based on it. Do not include the question in your answer.

Question to develop:

Contractual questions to consider: Disclosure.

This in an opening restaurant business, located in Miami Florida. Base your analysis and answers on the USA Law, and Florida State Law. Please, keep in mind that this is a law assignment. Type of entity: Limited Liability Company (LLC) filing taxes as an S-Corporation. State of formation of the LLC Corporation: Florida Reason for selecting an LLC Corporation as type of business:

• -This type of company protects the members against claims or sues. A member of the LLC is only liable for the participation he or she has, based on the amount of money invested, if there is wrongdoing on his or her side.

• -As a new business is a convenient and more straightforward recordkeeping entity.

• -Over the election of partnership, LLC has a more formal business structure than partnerships and a more flexible system than corporations.

• -Profits are not obligated to be distributed evenly or in proportion to ownership percentages.

• -Allow foreign investors or skilled employees as certified chefs to be a member of the business. LLC gives the advantage of having as many members as needed.

• -It has many options for tax filling; in our case, we elected filing as an S-Corporation avoiding double taxation because the income and expenses are passed through to the owner’s personal tax returns.

Scenario: Detailed description of the product and/or service: A local Latin restaurant that will prepare and transport various types of fresh food, a “cantina,” with a weekly menu or just single orders for individuals who work and don’t have enough time in a busy city like Miami. The name of our restaurant is “Calentico y a Su Gusto Restaurant, meals of your choice.” An explanation of some reasons for choosing this concept: We are aware that several local businesses in Miami provide this type of service, but following the pandemic, we have been familiar with various drawbacks. One of the things we would like to enhance is to make a distinction by focusing on healthier meals and preparation while considering client preferences. We have been customers of these restaurants and have tried both the lowest and most expensive options. We ended up not enjoying the meal because of the low quality, preparation, and ingredients used. Our goal is to achieve an excellent price-quality ratio. Your theory as to why this is a viable opportunity: Our culinary will have a unique high-end presentation and will be served with an informative flyer that explains how to make good food choices and combine different cuisine types healthily. We will add suggestions for clients with pre-existing problems, including high blood pressure, diabetes, celiac disease, and other disorders. We will grow a customer network based on their referrals while keeping loyal clients simultaneously as people learn about our business constantly, with a solid price-quality ratio. Our goal is not only to make fresh food at a fair price but also incorporate delivery to avoid the added expense of separate delivery plus gratuities on top of the meal price.

TEARING OUT AND REBUILDING A STORE

ATTACHED IS A WORKED ON PROJECT ON STORE REMODELING. I will like to change a few things in the project.

1. Name

2. project has to follow descriptions listed on the project description. the project has to start with this

Company Background

Tell the story (who, what, when, where, how) of the company or organization for which this project is being done.

· Who founded this company? Who are its leaders?

· What does this company make or do? What is its target market? What is its financial performance?

· When was the company founded? Where was/is it located?

· How does the company operate? How effective is the company in its industry? How are its competitors placed in the market?

If using a company website, be sure to cite the source!

Current Process

What is the current process or existing scenario for accomplishing the company’s goals? In other words, how does the company conduct business? If, for example, it is a construction business building new homes, what would be the process that encompasses the company’s procedure from advertising through getting customers, doing the project and closing out the project deliverable. This current process might be something like:

1) Receive customer specifications

2) Design preliminary floor plan and elevation

3) Send preliminary documents to customer

4) Receive and execute customer changes

5) Create bid for customer contract

6) Run bid through technical and legal departments

7) Ship bid to customer

8) Follow up with customer

9) Negotiate details of bid acceptance

10) Build the negotiated architectural design

11) Oversee construction budget

12) Deliver agreed upon product to customer

13) Receive payment

14) Close out project using lessons learned approach

Your project must fit within the framework of the company’s business. In other words, if the company builds single family residences, your project would not be for an office building. It must be related to a specific type of single family home/townhouse.

Project Overview

The project overview is a report on the project undertaking and a discussion of the general situation management finds itself in. This provides important context for the project management team to use in determining methods, approaches, and timeframes, as well as a scope.

For example, if building a new home, you should state whether it will have one or two stories, three or four bedrooms, and any other rooms that are to be included. There may be important details regarding the lot, area of town, and other issues such as landscaping. Be as detailed as possible, since this will assist the instructor in understanding and ultimately approving your project based on his/her belief that you have a viable project topic for a team of 3-4 persons.

Objectives

Objectives describe concrete outcomes that a project will meet so as to be deemed a success. Goals need to be described as specifically as necessary-but no more specifically than that. The purpose is not to artificially constrain the project but to limit the project to as wide a range of acceptable outcomes as possible. Targets are measurements of how well the goals were met. For example:

Goals

Targets

1) Provide construction blueprints to customer

Excellent = < 4 days

Good = < 1 week

Acceptable = < 2 weeks

2) Decrease delivery time on all raw materials from 10 days

Excellent = -40%

Good = -30%

Acceptable = -15%

3) Reduce amount of rework from inspections

Excellent = -80%

Good = -65%

Acceptable = -50%

5) Decrease cost overruns

Excellent = -40%

Good = -30%

Acceptable = -15%

General Approach

What will be the general project approach taken, in terms of managerial and technical changes, to create these changes through the project? For example:

Managerial approach – These items relate to how the managers will plan, organize, direct and control the project resources toward the targeted outcome.

Technical approach – These items relate to the procedural aspects needed, including logistics of moving equipment to and from the site, designing the blueprints to meet customer expectations, utilizing computers, etc

Also,

I need extra things added in these sections listed in the project description.

Thank you

prompt 13

One of the best ways to understand our world is to imagine how it might be different.  One of the best ways to approach a problem is to imagine different possibilities, no mater how unlikely.  For these reasons, I’d like us to play an imagination game for Prompt 13.

In terms of a healthy imagination, two of the most important words are “What if?”  Children are geniuses when it comes to putting the rational, logical mind aside and allowing a more creative, inventive thought process to take over.  Sadly, too many schools systematically drum creativity out of children’s minds from the get-go.  For prompt 13, let’s play a game that attempts to reignite our child-like regard for the imagination.

Here’s what we’ll do: respond to one of the following, or better yet, create your own “What if” scenario.  Open your mind, fully imagine a world where one of possibilities exists, write, and enjoy!  (Remember to respond to a peer’s work of genius!)

What if, instead of women, men had to become pregnant and give birth?

What if all diseases are eradicated by medical science, and barring accident or suicide, the average lifespan grows to 250 years?

What if, suddenly, the human race evolves so that we don’t need sleep?  We just don’t get tired.  Is this a good world or a bad world?

What if a pill is invented that provides everyone with all the nutrition they need, so food becomes obsolete?  The pill is easily distributed, so world hunger is wiped out.  How would our lives change?

Fascist leaders have taken over the world, and art is declared illegal.  What if you lived in this world?
