Assignment 10

Hypothesis testing is often used to determine if the results of an event are statistically feasible or highly unlikely. Cases that are unlikely are still possible, but should be investigated further to determine why the result occurred.

  • Conduct an experiment by flipping 10 coins and counting how many are heads up. This may be done using actual coins or by a random number simulator. Predict the mean for the number of heads that will occur when 10 coins are flipped.

????????μo _____________

  • Run the coin flipping experiment 36 times recording how many heads occur in each trial. State the results of these trials using the table below, then calculate the mean and standard deviation for the number of heads up in this sample data.

x=__________________________        s=________________________________

  • Construct a 95% confidence interval for the population mean number of heads up when flipping 10 coins. Does the population mean lie in this confidence interval?
  • Conduct a hypothesis test where and  from the predicted population mean. What is the tail area from the sample mean that was found? Is the null hypothesis accepted or rejected at the 20% level of significance?
  • Draw a sketch showing the results of the hypothesis test. Shade the tail area from the sample mean in this test.

NR228 Nutrition

Discussion: ( Carbs, Culture, and Diabetes)

Book: Nutritional Foundations and Clinical Applications: A Nursing Approach 7th Edition

In order to fully understand Hannah’s situation, please answer the following first:

When are carbohydrates good for us?

What are “good” versus “bad” carbohydrates?

When are they not good for us or our bodies?

What chemistry is involved in their breakdown, usage, and storage?

Once you have discussed this, then consider Hannah and Rose’s situation, and think like a nurse!

Hannah is a 12-year-old who has had Type I diabetes for a few years. Her mother, Rose, is a strict vegetarian and believes this is also the best diet plan for her daughter. Hannah says, “I just want to eat like all my friends do!” As a result, she often cheats, and lately, there has been a steady increase in Hannah’s blood sugars.

What are the first steps you would take, as Hannah’s nurse, to assess her eating habits and understanding of diabetes mellitus?

What did Hannah and Rose tell you (subjective) and what did you see (objective)?

End-of-life care becomes an issue at some point for elderly clients.

  Topic 5 DQ 2

According to The National Institute on Aging (NIA,2021), most people died at home years ago. Still, recently that trend has changed due to medical improvements and concepts of care and healthcare dynamics(National Institute on Aging, 2021). People usually die, not on their choice, but it becomes an option for the individual and family to pre-plan the care options the patient would receive when that time comes.

In the early days, the older people once stay at home under the care of the younger generation or their siblings or other people designated to care for them in their end-of-life period. But this trend has changed, and many are now living in nursing homes or assisted living due to the loved ones not having enough time to provide needed care because of jobs or other life commitments. Some people believe that their loved ones would receive better care and attention in a well-equipped nursing facility to deal with the level of care needed rather than commit to assignments they cannot fulfill(National Institute on Aging, 2021).

End of life is defined as the final phase of a patient’s illness when death is imminent. Some good numbers of the elderly may not die at home, and some may die in a nursing home or assisted living. What determines the type of care to provide is usually the patient’s level of insurance coverage; some insurance cover hospice and palliative care. While some might not, the patient’s family and the prior arrangement made(Advance Directive) take presidents in such cases. Due to medical improvements, things have changed with evidence of people resulting in death, not their chosen areas(National Institute on Aging, 2021).

Many issues determine the place of death, comprising the care to be given, the readiness of the patient and family, and affordability of the cost involved with families. Dying at home is taken by many as being far better than a hospital due to the peace and grief shared by patients and loved ones. However, there is a need to consult and discuss preferences with professionals to know what is suitable for the patient and family(National Institute on Aging, 2021).

Though the medical staff provides proper health care, the love and affection the people get from their family members are different. In end-of-life care, giving love and affection, psychological support, respecting and fulfilling their desire are essential. As a health care professional, a nurse must meet the above requirements to provide maximum comfort to the people receiving end-of-life care. Healthcare professionals such as nurses must meet specific requirements to provide maximum comfort to the people receiving end-of-life care. Most patients generally suffer from discomfort in the following areas, such as general pain, breathing problems, skin irritations, digestive problems, temperature sensitivity, and fatigue. The nurse would have to ensure that the patient’s needs are met, such as providing comfort care, pain medication, skincare, oxygen, a warm environment, and other support measures to satisfy the patient and family(National Institute on Aging, 2021).

Respond using 200-300 words APA format with references to support the above discussion

End-of-life care becomes an issue at some point for elderly clients. Even with the emergence of palliative care programs and hospice programs, most elderly people do not die in their own home as is their preference. What are the reasons for this trend? Discuss what you can do as a nurse to support your clients regarding end-of-life care in accordance with their wishes. Support your response with evidence-based literature.

THE THREE QUESTIONS SHOULD BE 400-500 WORD EACH AND PLEASE USE CITATIONS

AND DO NOT COPY AND PASTE (NO PLAGIARISM)

1. Nubbles and Rudge decide to rob the Tight Fist Bank. They make elaborate plans and purchase

some firearms to assist them in their venture. On the appointed day, they drive to a street corner just

one block away from the bank; they intend to observe the bank for a while and then undertake the

robbery at the most appropriate moment. https://essayharbour.info/2021/06/11/managing-negative-emotionsplease-use-the-book-development-through-the-lifesp/ However, a police cruiser passes by and the two officers

notice that Nubble and Rudge look suspicious.  The officers arrest the would-be bandits when they

find two sawed-off shotguns and two masks on the back seat of the car.  Nubbles and Rudge are

subsequently charged with attempted robbery.  Are they guilty of this offence?

Discuss the potential criminal liability, if any, of each person mentioned.   Identify, define, and

describe relevant concepts and issues.

State any assumptions you may need to make to analyze the issues. In your response, consider

course materials, case law, legislation, any contributions to the optional discussion forums, and any

other resources you consider relevant.

2. Cruncher and Slammer are professional hockey players who are playing on opposing teams. As

Cruncher is carrying the puck, Slammer pushes him into the boards along the side of the hockey

rink. An altercation develops between them, and some punches are thrown. https://essaypandit.com/discussion-networking-a-key-to-successful-teamworka-consider-the-differe/ The referee whistles

play dead, and after a brief period, the linesmen separate Cruncher and Slammer and lead them

toward their respective penalty boxes.  However, Cruncher breaks free from his accompanying

linesman and skates up to Slammer and punches him in the eye – to the delight of the local fans.

Cruncher is 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 280 pounds. Slammer is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs

150 pounds. The blow inflicted by Cruncher opens a deep cut underneath Slammer’s eye and

numerous stitches are required to close the wound. Cruncher is charged with assault causing bodily

harm.  Does cruncher have any defence(s)?

In addition to the question posed above, please discuss the Instructor’s addition to the fact pattern

as follows:

Mandy was sitting in the audience at the hockey rink. She was so distressed and upset by seeing

Slammer injured, with all the blood on the ice, that she became dazed and disoriented. She grabbed

her umbrella and repeatedly hit a nearby woman on the head with it, injuring her. Several hockey

fans had to intervene to stop Mandy from hitting the woman, and they would later tell the police that

Mandy had a blank look, and did not seem to be normal. https://theeliteessaywriters.com/2021/06/12/in-our-lives-and-society-we-are-rarely-still-and-quiet-many-even-go-to-sleep-w/

3. A federal politician, Ronald Thump, has recently announced that the Canadian government will

amend the criminal law to reduce the number of defences available to accused persons. In

particular, the government intends to completely eliminate the defence of necessity or duress.

“With one of these defences eliminated, there will be cost savings in the criminal justice system.

Canada has far too many defences available to accused persons, resulting in court delays and

increased costs,” Mr. Thump stated. “One of these defences has got to go.  The public is confused

about these two defences, and too many criminals are getting off on these technicalities.”
