Individuals who are coming out, or revealing their sexual and/or gender orientation to others, often feel very alone and isolated in their experiences, especially if they are not connected to a support network that is understanding and knowledgeable about the topic. This also can be true for the family members and close friends of individuals who are coming out, as they often face their own personal reactions to the coming out process as well.

In addition to the support they may receive through counseling during the coming out process, clients may benefit from connecting to local community resources designed to provide informational, emotional, and social support to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals and their families. As helping professionals, it is important to be aware of resources that are available within your community so that you can help your clients connect with these resources when they need additional support. Examples of resources include PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) and CenterLink Member LGBT Community Centers, which have locations across the United States.

By Day 4

Post by Day 4 an explanation of two challenges LGBTIQ clients may face as they come out in their sexual orientation to others. Then describe the resource you identified that serves this population and provide a link to the resource’s website. Finally, describe the services this resource provides and explain how they would be helpful to clients and their families.

Strategic Recommendations

Managing the multi-business corporation to meet high performance expectations is problematic. Publicly traded companies are pressured to return favorable quarterly results and as corporations grow larger and more complex, it becomes harder to manage such corporations effectively. General Electric (GE) was once one of the most admired corporations in the world. Today, GE is facing a much-reduced outlook. For this week’s assignment, read the case study attached (Case 20): Restructuring General Electric.

Remember, a case study is a puzzle to be solved, so before reading and answering the specific case and study questions, develop your proposed solution by following these five steps:

  1. Read the case study to identify the key issues and underlying issues. These issues are the      principles and concepts of the course area which apply to the situation described in the case study.
  2. Record the facts from the case study which are relevant to the principles and concepts of the course      area issues. The case may have extraneous information not relevant to the current course area. Your ability to differentiate between relevant and irrelevant information is an important aspect of case analysis, as it will inform the focus of your answers.
  3. Describe in some detail the actions that would address or correct the situation.
  4. Consider how you would support your solution with examples from experience or current real-life      examples or cases from textbooks.
  5. Complete this initial analysis and then read the discussion questions. Typically, you will already have the answers to the questions but with a broader consideration. At this point, you can add the details and/or analytical tools required to solve the case.

Case Study Questions:

  1. Why was GE considered to be such an exemplary organization? (Discuss GE’s management systems and performance.)
  2. Discuss the nature of GE’s  corporate portfolio under Welch and Imelt. Did the nature of GE’s      portfolio under Welch and Imelt provide superior results?
  3. If GE’s portfolio mix gave   superior results, why was it necessary to restructure the portfolio?
  4. Why is GE’s performance no longer superior? What are the reasons for the collapse in GE’s financial  performance during 2016-2018?
  5. What should be done to return GE to higher levels of performance? Does GE need to refocus? Which businesses or products would you recommend abandoning or divesting, if any? Does GE need to make additional acquisitions to supplement existing GE assets?

Your well-written paper should meet the following requirements:

  • Be 9 to 10 pages in length, which does not include the title page or required reference page, which      are never a part of the content minimum requirements.
  • Write theses statement
  • APA style edition 7th      guidelines.
  • Five scholarly, peer-reviewed journal articles unless the assignment calls for more.
  • Support your submission with course material concepts, principles, and theories from the textbook
  • It is strongly needed that      you submit  assignment into the Turnitin Originality Check before submitting it and provide the report

Humanities Debate

Why the humanities still matter even in digital age and Education and Humanities

Discussions will be weighted according to your participation in the breakout rooms.

This is your first discussion which is part of your participation grade for this class. In a minimum of 250 worlds, discuss why you believe the humanities is an important part of higher eduction, or, if you do not believe that premise explain why?

First, read the related documents before you reply, so that your answer is thoughtful. You can either navigate through the previous button below or the Pages link on the left hand navigation. There are 2 documents, so you will have to navigate accordingly. You can always find all online documents for this class in Pages. Next, reflect and write a brief synopsis of each writer’s argument. Define and explain any concepts which the article covers which the article either introduces to you, or it is not part of your everyday conversation with family and friends such as pluralism.  Then take a position. For instance, you may explain why the concept matters or does not matter. What is the position of the writer? Do you agree or disagree with them? State, in one or two sentences, your position or claim. Finally, elaborate by citing specifics such as quoting from the essays themselves. You may, moreover, draw from your own experiences either in class or out of class.

What are the consequences of that?Link

PROMPT

The quotations below offer several interpretations of the role of storytelling in our understanding of history, civilization, and culture.

  • “Very few things happen at the right time, and the rest do not happen at all: the conscientious historian will correct these defects.”- Herodotus
  • “Poets and story-tellers are guilty of making the gravest misstatements when they tell us that wicked men are often happy, and the good miserable; and that injustice is profitable when undetected, but that justice is a man’s own loss and another’s gain.” – Plato
  • “All great literature is one of two stories; a man goes on a journey or a stranger comes to town.”- Leo Tolstoy
  • “Only the story can continue beyond the war and the warrior. It is the story that outlives the sound of war-drums and the exploits of the brave fighters…The story is our escort; without it we are blind… It is the thing that makes us different from cattle.”- Chinua Achebe

This semester you have read a number of different texts.  Some were told by bards and poets, others by historians and philosophers. Using one of the quotations above, develop an argumentative essay on the role of storytelling in our understanding of civilization and/or the human experience. Build on the ideas from the quotations to construct an argument about the relationship between culture, history, and storytelling.  In your essay, use three examples from the readings assigned this semester as evidence for your interpretation of this relationship. This evidence can include historical events and primary sources covered in the course.

Be as specific as you can and provide as many details from the course as possible in addressing this prompt.

Instructions

For this task, complete the   readings for this assignment, and then write a paper in which you complete   the following:

  1. Write an introduction that        examines the construct, its conceptual definition/s, and related        concepts.
  2. Review the literature and the        existing tools that measure the construct.
  3. Provide justification for        your original scale.
  4. Discuss how you intend to        construct the items, cognizant of the basic principles of item pool        construction, the necessity of SMEs, the unidimensionality or        multidimensionality of the construct, etc.

If the construct you choose has two or more dimensions under it,        write sample items indicating which items fall under which dimension.        (See for example, the Life Position Scale that contained four dimensions        I’m OK etc. at first, but after factor analysis the dimensions reduced        to two—I and You.) These are attached to the assignment
  6. Argue for a specific method        of running an item analysis procedure.
  7. Argue for at least two        specific methods of establishing your scale’s validity (Choose at least        one method for construct validity, and another method for        criterion-related validity. s the GDP Still Accurate in the Digital Age?”

What the GDP measures, if anything, has become quite the issue in the digital age. Consider this data:

In 2012, U.S. Real GDP was $15,345.63 billion and Real Per Capita GDP was $48,842 billion.

Five years later, at the end of 2017, U.S. Real GDP was $17,096.18 billion and Real Per Capita GDP was $52,446 billion. (All data was extracted May 20, 2018, from FRED https://fred.stlouisfed.org/.)

Read this blog, GDP: Falling Short, to help you answer this week’s discussion questions.

Reply to these questions in your response:

  • Considering the data above, did the U.S. make progress? Explain your answer.
  • Given what you know now about economics, should the measure of GDP be changed? Why or why not?

Respond to a classmate:

The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) measures the total value of final goods and services produced in the whole country. GDP has a great effect on the economy, knowing that when the GDP shows a significant growth, it allows firms to hire more workers and therefore produce more so that consumers spend more.

If we consider the GDP measurement, then we can presume that the US did not make a significant progress while the curve is still on the slow rise.

However, given the new facts and depending on many articles, many economists are considering changing the GDP for other methods, because of many reasons, but the one that stood out for me is the fact that GDP measures the bads as well as the goods! Meaning the GDP cannot be reliable to measure the welfare of the population.

2 paragraphs on what makes Othello the play a tragedy

What makes Shakespeare’s play a tragedy?

Describe some of the elements that you feel make this play a Tragedy? (Give examples from the play, describe some of the “Preventable” events, What causes them to occur?- Don’t tell me the plot! Hint: She drops a handkerchief…what happens? is that preventable? )

*Note- Emotions, Communication, and Misunderstandings are not preventable! Do not tell me that “Othello just needed to talk to Desdemona” or that “Iago couldn’t have prevented everything by not doing the following…” these are Hypotheticals, and are not facts. You must look at the events of the play and find the ones that could have been stopped. In the case of the Handkerchief.

Do not say that “Desdemona shouldn’t have dropped it, that’s why she’s dead now”

One- that’s victim blaming and was a totally accident.

Two- Emelia GIVING the handkerchief to her husband is the event. If she didn’t do that, then Iago wouldn’t have been able to see his plot all the way through. Emelia immediately knows that something is wrong the moment this event happens as well (thinking that her husband may show her love again… and he simply doesn’t).

Think of this as if it was a court of law. What are the facts? What are the actually events and/or actions that happen that could have been prevented (avoid hypotheticals, opinions, or conjecture).

 (2 Paragraph minimum.)

ALSO DO NOT SAY

Cause they all die. Cause Othello dies. Cause everyone is sad and they all die.  Death doesn’t make something tragic…

2) Shakespeare demonstrates a sense of Humanity, and Justice in most all of his plays… except for this one it seems. It is also hard to watch this play and keep in mind what the concept of “Race” was in Shakespeare’s time. Scholars say about Othello:

“The play is unique in featuring a Muslim black man as the main protagonist, thus making the work highly relevant in response to the Elizabethan era’s racial policies towards the Moors. Although blacks were not yet regarded as slaves during that time, they had been recently deported after having just been granted diplomatic rights by Queen Elizabeth in 1601. This was due largely to fears of overpopulation, and despite the slave trade not yet being established, the black race was considered inferior during the writing of “Othello.” For this reason, “Othello” is considered a groundbreaking cultural work for its time, as a black Moor is depicted as a civilized, noble, Christian protagonist, which forced its audiences to reconsider racial status during the early 16th century.”

https://www.reference.com/art-literature/did-shakespeare-write-othello-f1fa59fdd93f1aab

That being said… Why do you think Shakespeare wrote this play? Was he standing up for a different race? Was it an observation about humanity around him? Equality? Equity?

(1-2 Paragraph  min.)

DO NOT SAY

He was Racist. He wanted to scare people. He liked death and White Women.

socw 6311-wk10A- Designing a Plan for Outcome Evaluation

Social workers can apply knowledge and skills learned from conducting one type of evaluation to others. Moreover, evaluations themselves can inform and com`plement each other throughout the life of a program. This week, you apply all that you have learned about program evaluation throughout this course to aid you in program evaluation.

To prepare for this Assignment, review “Basic Guide to Program Evaluation (Including Outcomes Evaluation)” from this week’s resources, Plummer, S.-B., Makris, S., & Brocksen S. (Eds.). (2014b). Social work case studies: Concentration year. Retrieved from http://www.vitalsource.com , especially the sections titled “Outcomes-Based Evaluation” and “Contents of an Evaluation Plan.” Then, select a program that you would like to evaluate. You should build on work that you have done in previous assignments, but be sure to self-cite any written work that you have already submitted. Complete as many areas of the “Contents of an Evaluation Plan” as possible, leaving out items that assume you have already collected and analyzed the data.

Submit a 4- to 5-page paper that outlines a plan for a program evaluation focused on outcomes. Be specific and elaborate. Include the following information:

  • The purpose of the evaluation, including specific questions to be answered
  • The outcomes to be evaluated
  • The indicators or instruments to be used to measure those outcomes, including the strengths and limitations of those measures to be used to evaluate the outcomes
  • A rationale for selecting among the six group research designs
  • The methods for collecting, organizing and analyzing data
