Why is my child doing that

Why is My Child Doing That?
Please read the following scenario:There is a 2-year-old little girl in my class who has never been to an early childhood program before. This little girl spends the majority of her day crying. She starts her day having breakfast with mother in the classroom. She holds tight to a blanket and doll as her mother spoon-feeds her during eating time. When her mother is finished feeding her she gives her a few encouraging words in Spanish and leaves. From the time her mother walks out that door until her return that child cries! In my first week on the job, I found it very disruptive. This child cried and screamed during our class activities. My aide and I worked on encouraging her to let go of her blanket and doll.
For your initial posting, answer the following questions using the three core DAP considerations as a framework for your answers:

  1. Is the teacher considering child development and learning (referring to knowledge of age-related characteristics that permits general predictions about what experiences are likely to best promote children’s learning and development)? Why or why not? Explain.
  2. Is the teacher considering the individual child (how best to adapt and be responsive to that individual variation)? Why or why not? Explain.
  3. Is the teacher considering social and cultural contexts in which the child lives (referring to the values, expectations, behavioral and linguistic conventions that shape children’s lives at home and in their communities)? Why or why not? Explain.

In your response posting, share what recommendations you might suggest to your peers to help build a relationship with the parent and family members.

Community Policing IP1

2-3 pages APA format 3 references

Your final assignment for this course will be to create a Community Policing Proposal to a fictional community.

Your instructor will be assigning you a fictional community profile this week. You will use this profile to inform the design of your Community Policing Proposal. The final proposal will include the following elements:

  • A description of the community and its needs
  • A step-by-step implementation plan designed with the specific needs of your community in mind
  • A practical strategy that can be used to communicate your community policing model to the community and the law enforcement organization

Part 1

Your instructor will send you a brief description of a community. Upon receiving the community profile, create a name for your community. Provide a written description of the community and a description of the crime issue at hand. You may add unique details to the description of the community or the issue if you think it will benefit your assignment. Submit a written description of the community for which you will be creating a Community Policing Proposal.

Part 2

Describe how federal, state, and local law enforcement work together in criminal investigations. Answer the following questions:

  • What is the scanning, analyze, response, and assessment (SARA) model?
  • How does this model apply to community policing? Give 2 examples.
  • Can the same models for partnerships be used in every jurisdiction? Why or why not?

Create a name for this community with the following characteristics:

Of the people living in this area, 82% are African American; 0.12% are Hispanic; 4% are Caucasian; 1% are Asian; and 0.1% are either Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, American Indian or Alaskan Native, of some other race, or of two or more races.

41% of the population is over the age of 65. 30% are of working age (18–64). 29% are under 18, and 5% of that population are under 5 years old.

The median household income for the study area was $23,000, compared to a state median of $50,000, as estimated in the most recent Census American Community Survey.

This community has experienced a dramatic spike in gang activity.

You may provide additional details about the community if you feel they will benefit your Community Policing Proposal.

Week Five Discussion

Discuss in 500 words your opinion whether Fair Use of copyrighted material should be expanded, contracted, or left alone. Justify your choice.  Use at least three sources. Use the Research Databases available from the Danforth Library, not Google.   Include at least 3 quotes from your sources enclosing the copied words in quotation marks and cited in-line by reference to your reference list.  Example: “words you copied” (citation) These quotes should be one full sentence not altered or paraphrased. Cite your sources using APA format. Use the quotes in your paragraphs. Do Not Doublespace.Copying without attribution or the use of spinbot or other word substitution software will result in a grade of 0. Write in essay format not in bulleted, numbered or other list format. Do not use attachments as a submission. Reply to two classmates’ posting in a paragraph of at least five sentences by asking questions, reflecting on your own experience, challenging assumptions, pointing out something new you learned, offering suggestions. These peer responses are not ‘attaboys’.   You should make your initial post by Thursday evening so your classmates have an opportunity to respond before Sunday.at midnight when all three posts are due. It is important that you use your own words, that you cite your sources, that you comply with the instructions regarding length of your post and that you reply to two classmates in a substantive way (not ‘nice post’ or the like).  Your goal is to help your colleagues write better. Do not use spinbot or other word replacement software. It usually results in nonsense and is not a good way to learn anything. . I will not spend a lot of my time trying to decipher nonsense. Proof read your work or have it edited. Find something interesting and/or relevant to your work to write about.  Please do not submit attachments unless requested.

Module 04 Project – Ethical Considerations

Module 04 Content

  1. A strategic plan is a document used to structure and communicate organizational goals. It is also used to mitigate risks and alleviate the potential for legal cases. Barbara receives information that there is an additional, more pressing issue at a satellite clinic that is not documented in the original UCCO case. This issue relates to the emergency care clinic, which is used to treat patients with trauma-related injuries. The clinic has been over-utilized for the past year, resulting in stressed staffing, overwhelming costs, and decreasing quality of patient care and customer satisfaction. Staff productivity is affected by use of personal cell phones and clinic equipment is often used for social media.

In one particular case, a 13-year old patient was seen for trauma care by the UCCO Emergency Clinic. The patient’s parents make it clear to the staff that they are not willing to give consent to any procedure involving blood products or transfusion. The risks are explained to the parents. The patient arrived unconscious but shortly regains consciousness. After the parents leave the room, the patient tells the nurse that she is afraid of dying and would like any care, including blood procedures and products, to save her life. The nurse later finds out that the rejection by the parents was due to religious reasons. The nurse quickly discusses the case with fellow employees, one of which posts comments on her social media page using a clinic-owned computer. The nursing director give a verbal warning to all involved nurses and staff.

Visit the Rasmussen online Library and search for a minimum of 3 articles covering the topics of ethics, healthcare professionalism, and federal legislations. Conduct academic research using the library’s databases, like:

    • CINAHL
    • Discovery
    • Business Source Complete via EBSCO
    • Business via ProQuest
    • In the databases use basic search languages (controlled vocabulary/keywords) to determine ethics laws specific to this situation. Some keywords to consider are healthcare professional code of ethics. Then, refine your searches based on your search results. Make sure to include a minimum of 3 credible, academic sources in your paper.
Using your research, address the following points in a minimum of 3-page report:
    • Was the nursing manager legally compliant with to protect patient information? Explain the legal risks and support with federal legislations and professional expectations, such as HIPAA and professional codes of ethics.
    • What bearing does the age and religious requests have on the patient’s case? Are there medical and ethical laws that supersede the parent’s requests?
    • What is the role and importance of communication among UCCO facilities, particularly in reference to compliance and ethical standards?
    • What are the ethical and professional factors of using social media?
    • Were the reactions to the patient’s case illegal, or just unethical? How does this align with UCCO’s mission, values, and strategic action plans? How does it compare to your own personal beliefs and values?
    • Remember to integrate citations accurately and appropriately for all resource types; use attribution (credit) as a method to avoid plagiarism. Use NoodleBib to document your sources and to complete your APA formatted reference page and in-text citations.

Transferable Skills for this Project Stage:

    • Ethics & Professional Responsibility
    • Submit your completed assignment to the drop box below. Please check the Course Calendar for specific due dates.

Save your assignment as a Microsoft PowerPoint document. (Mac users, please remember to append the “.pptx” extension to the filename.) 6-1 Discussion: Confidence Intervals

Available on Saturday, June 5, 2021 11:59 PM EDT Subscribe

The B&K Real Estate Company sells homes and is currently serving the Southeast region. It has recently expanded to cover the Northeast states. The B&K realtors are excited to now cover the entire East Coast and are working to prepare their southern agents to expand their reach to the Northeast.

B&K has hired your company to analyze the Northeast home listing prices in order to give information to their agents about the mean listing price at 95% confidence. Your company offers two analysis packages: one based on a sample size of 100 listings, and another based on a sample size of 1,000 listings. Because there is an additional cost for data collection, your company charges more for the package with 1,000 listings than for the package with 100 listings.

Sample size of 100 listings:
  • 95% confidence interval for the mean of the Northeast house listing price has a margin of error of $25,000
  • Cost for service to B&K: $2,000
Sample size of 1,000 listings:
  • 95% confidence interval for the mean of the Northeast house listing price has a margin of error of $5,000
  • Cost for service to B&K: $10,000

The B&K management team does not understand the tradeoff between confidence level, sample size, and margin of error. B&K would like you to come back with your recommendation of the sample size that would provide the sales agents with the best understanding of northeast home prices at the lowest cost for service to B&K.

In other words, which option is preferable?

  • Spending more on data collection and having a smaller margin of error
  • Spending less on data collection and having a larger margin of error
  • Choosing an option somewhere in the middle

For your initial post:

  • Formulate a recommendation and write a confidence statement in the context of this scenario. For the purposes of writing your confidence statement, assume the sample mean house listing price is $310,000 for both packages. “I am [#] % confident the true mean . . . [in context].”
  • Explain the factors that went into your recommendation, including a discussion of the margin of error

Signature Assignment: Policy Advocacy Presentation

Task: View this topic

Description

Points: 300 | Due Date: Week 7, Day 7 | CLO: 5, 6 | Grade Category: Assignments

Assignment Prompt

Applying the principles from the Nursing Leadership and Health Policy learning modules students will explore the role of the Registered Nurse Leader in policy advocacy.  Groups of two to three students will create a policy challenge presentation with a focus on collaboration. All members must participate to earn points. Each group member will receive an individual grade for the assignment and will participate in a rated peer evaluation of each group member. The final grade for each student will be based upon the presentation and peer evaluations and determined by the course professor.  The course professor will randomly assign students to a group and post the assigned groups and student names in a course announcement in week one. Contact peers in your assigned group by university email in week one to begin planning and collaborating on the project between weeks one and seven.

Directions:

  1. Interview a nurse leader from a professional nursing organization to collect ideas for the project.
  2. Utilize your readings, research and resources to build the content. This should be a collaborative team process. Divide the workload for the project in an equitable manner among team members.
  3. Each group will design a voice- narrated Powerpoint or Prezi  to create a presentation and provide an overview of a grassroots policy challenge (present or past) that the identified organization supports. The policy challenge can  be a local, state or federal policy issue. Create a title slide or page with the full names of each group member. Include a final slide or page with key references cited in APA 6th ed. format.
  4. Each presentation should be between 5-10 minutes in length. Rehearse and time the presentation in advance to ensure that the 10-min. time limit is not exceeded.
  5. One person from each assigned group will post the group signature assignment for his/her group as an attachment in the week seven discussion forum on or before Day 3, Week 7

Each presentation will need to include (but is not limited to):

  • Brief description of the policy challenge the team has chosen and the nursing association that was identified.
  • Describe the “Agenda” for the identified policy challenge. Include how the policy issue was identified, (Did the organization complete a review of the literature, an environmental scan and/or a SWOT analysis, etc.?)
  • Brief description of key stakeholders (those who will be affected and those who can effect change), ie, interest groups, opposition groups/individuals or coalitions.
  • List the different strategies that the organization plans to or has already used to inform/lobby legislators, ie, e-mail campaign, in-person visit, testimony, protest, etc.
  • List and describe any non-legislative strategies that were used or plan to be used to support the initiative.
  • Describe where this policy challenge is in the legislative process and its implications for the future.

Expectations

  • Due: Monday, 11:59 pm PT
  • Length: 5-10 minutes
  • Format: APA Style

See USU NUR Presentation Rubric for additional details and point weighting.

mod 1clas2

In the modern era, there are few professions that do not to some extent rely on data. Stockbrokers rely on market data to advise clients on financial matters. Meteorologists rely on weather data to forecast weather conditions, while realtors rely on data to advise on the purchase and sale of property. In these and other cases, data not only helps solve problems, but adds to the practitioner’s and the discipline’s body of knowledge.

Of course, the nursing profession also relies heavily on data. The field of nursing informatics aims to make sure nurses have access to the appropriate date to solve healthcare problems, make decisions in the interest of patients, and add to knowledge.

In this Discussion, you will consider a scenario that would benefit from access to data and how such access could facilitate both problem-solving and knowledge formation.

To Prepare:

  • Reflect on the concepts of informatics and knowledge work as presented in the Resources.
  • Consider a hypothetical scenario based on your own healthcare practice or organization that would require or benefit from the access/collection and application of data. Your scenario may involve a patient, staff, or management problem or gap.

Post a description of the focus of your scenario. Describe the data that could be used and how the data might be collected and accessed. What knowledge might be derived from that data? How would a nurse leader use clinical reasoning and judgment in the formation of knowledge from this experience?

Assignment 1: Issues with Criminal Justice

Prior to beginning this assignment, consider that Messer, Patten, and Candela (2016) provides a helpful summary of life course theory on pages seven through eight. Also, note that Salvatore (2017) provides a helpful summary of life course theory on pages one through two. In addition, consider pages 697–698 in Zoutewelle-Terovan and Skardhamar’s (2016) ALL LISTED RESOURCES PROVIDED IN ATTACMENTS!!!!!!     article which provides helpful summaries of criminological theories. Review information in the Wright (2012) text on processes for law enforcement, the judiciary, and corrections. Finally, review the web-based materials FBI: Uniform Crime Reporting (Links to an external site.) https://www.fbi.gov/services/cjis/ucr and National Institute of Justice (Links to an external site.), https://nij.ojp.gov which support this assignment in for this week.

In this assignment, you will explore a criminal justice issue and an associated criminal justice process. You will also consider an application for criminology that is relevant to that criminal justice issue.

This assignment consists of two parts: researching a criminal justice issue using the University of Arizona Global Campus Library’s database of scholarly journal articles and exploring the issue through the appointed prompts.

Researching a Criminal Justice Issue

  • Choose one article from a scholarly or credible (see Scholarly, Peer Reviewed, and Other Credible Sources (Links to an external site.) table for an explanation of each type of resource) source published within the past five years that addresses a criminal justice issue in law enforcement, the judiciary, or corrections, relevant to one of the following areas: poverty, unemployment, education, or illegal drug use.

To find an article from the University of Arizona Global Campus Library, please follow these steps:

*Note: To access the University of Arizona Global Campus Library directly, click on the Writing Center and Library links in your left navigation. Watch the Database Search Tips (Links to an external site.) video for more and see Searching the University of Arizona Global Campus Library

  • Click on the “advanced search” link located under the [email protected] search box
    • In the first search box, type social justice
    • In the second search box, type criminal justice
    • In the third search box type one of the following: poverty, unemployment, education, or drugs.
    • Scroll down to the “date published” limiter and adjust the search dates to include only the last 5 years
    • Click the “search” button .
    • Review your search results and select a library resource to analyze.

Summarizing the Issue and Processes. As you respond to the elements below, think about questions or issues addressed by the author(s) of the source that you select.

In your paper, drawing upon the article and/or other relevant scholarly or credible sources, address the following:

  • Explain a criminal justice issue in law enforcement, the judiciary, or corrections, relevant to one of the following areas: poverty, unemployment, education, or illegal drug use.
  • Describe at least one process for law enforcement, the judiciary, or corrections relevant to the criminal justice issue.
  • Describe an application for criminology that is relevant to the criminal justice issue.
    • To help you with this part, think about how a criminological theory could support a program or approach relevant to the criminal justice issue. For example, the article by Messer, Patten, and Candela (2016) relates life course theory to the use of drug courts.
    • If the article that you choose addresses a theory in criminology, you may use the article to help you address this part of the assignment. If the article does not address criminology, then please use one of the following resources: Messer et al. (2016), pages 7–8; Salvatore (2017), pages 1–2; or Zoutewelle-Terovan and Skardhamar (2016), pages 697–698.

The Issues in Criminal Justice paper

  • Must be a minimum of 500 words double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Writing Center’s APA Style (Links to an external site.)
  • Must include a separate title page with the following:
    • Title of paper
    • Student’s name
    • Course name and number
    • Instructor’s name
    • Date submitted
