Organization Analysis

Select an organization you are familiar with or have an interest in and analyze the operations within that organization. Please note that if an organization is large, you are welcome to analyze a subset of it, such as one business unit.

Following your analysis, please write a 4 – 6 page document answering the below questions.  Minimum 1200 words.

The prompts provided are a great place to start, however, feel free to include other components that you view to be important.

Please include in your document a brief description of the organization or business unit you plan to analyze. Also, include a summary that outlines your recommendations for improvement.

Before starting your assignment, keep in mind this assignment is asking you to demonstrate achievement of the learning outcomes for this module. While completing this assignment, please apply theory, tools and techniques covered in this course.

Operations Strategy-

Discuss the operations strategy of your selected organization or business unit.

How does the operations strategy support or complement the business strategy?

How has the operations strategy developed and/or changed in recent years?

How are goods and services evaluated at the organization using search, experience and credence attributes?

What are the organization’s competitive priorities?

How can the operating strategy be improved?

Goods & Service Design-

Discuss the goods and services offered by your chosen organization.

What operations challenges does the product/service mix pose?

What is the organization’s target market? Does the organization have one target market, or does it have different offerings for different markets?

In your opinion, how successful is the organization at developing products and services?

Discuss the organization’s goods or service design process.

Who else is involved in product and service design (for example, suppliers, customers, retailers)? How are they involved?

How does the organization measure the impact of design and new product development?

Process Design-

Discuss some of the processes within your chosen organization.

After reading Chapter 7 of the textbook as well as other outside reading, do you feel alternative approaches might lead to improvements in the performance of the organization?

After reading Chapter 8, please comment on the layout of retail outlets or manufacturing facilities belonging to the organization.

How would you help the organization make improvements?

Also, please comment on the use of technology in the organization.

Planning & Control-

Outline the types of short- and long-term planning and forecasting that are carried out in the organization.

Outline the supply chain of the organization (or one section of it), including purchasing, physical distribution management and materials management.

How is IT used in supply chain management?

How does the organization obtain its resources?

Identify the types of inventory used in the organization. How is inventory monitored and controlled?

Have any supply chain activities been outsourced? Why?

How does the organization address supply chain risks and disruptions?

Are there any supply chain performance metrics in place?

Please offer suggestions regarding how supply chain might be improved.

Quality Management-

Discuss the costs of quality as they apply to your chosen organization.

How are quality problems diagnosed?

How can the organization improve its approach to quality management?

Does the organization have a formal quality system?

In your opinion, how can quality management activities be improved?

a)Inventory Valuation and Materials Requirement Planning:

• List the methods of inventory evaluation and explain each.
• Explain the concept of Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
• b)ABC Analysis and EOQ:
• Explain what ABC Analysis is and why it is used.
• Explain what EOQ is.

  c) Reducing Inventory cost and JIT:

• Name at least five ways of reducing inventory cost and state why you think these are effective.
• What is the Just-In-Time approach?  Give an example of when you feel it would be useful and when you think it would not be useful.

Assignment Details

In this assignment you will use a loop and a custom method (or “function”), as well as built-in Java classes. Create a Java program that meets the following requirements:

1. Ask the user to input a number between 5 and 45. Tell the user to enter 1 if they wish to exit the program.
2. Store the user’s input in a variable with the integer data type.
3. Use a while loop to repeat the program, checking the user’s entry in case they entered a 1 to exit the program.
4. Create a separate method (in the same Java file) called “checkEntry”. This method must use a single parameter of the integer data type. When the user enters a number, pass that number to checkEntry for evaluation (described below).
5. (In the checkEntry method.) If the user enters a value of less than 35, the checkEntry method must multiply that value by 5 and return the result to main(). If the user enters a value greater than or equal to 35, the program must add 10 to that value and return the result to main().
6. Display the result of checkEntry’s evaluation on the screen.
7. Document your code using appropriate in-line comments. This includes variable declarations, input and output methods, and logic. Your comments must explain how the program works to a programmer who is familiar with Java and NetBeans but has not seen this program before.

Your deliverable for this assignment is the NetBeans project you created using the steps above (ZIP the whole folder that contains the project). (No screenshot.)

Note: It is fine if the program evaluates 1 (multiplying it by 5) and displays the success message before terminating. This is the expected behavior for the simplest solution to the program.

Note: This program does not check to see if the user failed to enter a number in the required range. That topic will be examined later in this course.

Tip: As with Unit 1, remember to import the Scanner class by adding the line “import java.util.Scanner” below the “package” declaration.

Paper #1 Tiffany

 

I feel that the most significant factor that determines if a person is a Republican or Democratic is how their family members and friends vote. I think that most people do not think for themselves. Therefore, they are following the decisions that their family and friends make. Some also do not want to feel like the “oddball”. So again, they follow and vote like their fellow friends and family members. Kenworthy (2019) states that most people like to have the same political views as their neighbors (para.36). US History (2021) states that a person’s personal religious preferences, gender, and the region they live in also may play a factor in someone’s political decisions (para.1). Another reason is the political choices that each party makes or feels will be good for the country. Individuals will get mad or disagree with what a politician will say or do, so they will switch their political party. For example, the Republican Party is considered pro-life. Many think that the Democratic Party is all for abortions. If they disapprove of abortion, they will vote Republican. The Democratic Party is not for abortions. They feel that it is a women’s choice and right to choose what she wants to do with her body. Many people will try to turn and slander that statement to make it seem like Democratic want women to have abortions which is not valid.  
     We must stop blaming each party, which is different from our own, for every problem in this country. The issues in this country affect every Republican as well as every Democratic, not just one party but both.  I feel that if everyone works together instead of trying to tear down the other party, we could accomplish so much and make this country truly great. That also means that everyone needs to acknowledge that there is still racism in this country that surrounds each of us. Some are so blind and say, “It’s 2021 racism is dead,” which is not correct. We must first acknowledge that it still exists and take steps to abolish it.

Paper #2 John

 

Factors such as political attitude, as well as regional, gender, and racial gender differences have been responsible for the “Red” and “Blue” America. More specifically, conservatives and democrats have always maintained specific political attitudes on different social issues (Hill, 2017). Furthermore, most of the voters have portrayed their allegiance to the partisan stereotypes (Goggin et al., 2019). As a result, most of them are hesitant to adopt a new perspective of any contemporary events and embrace a suitable perception of reality. In the 1960s, social divisions emerged to the Vietnam War and other issues that the US government had ignored at that specific moment (Schultz, 2013). Besides that, civilians had noticed that they had a democratic right to make informed decisions without relying on the government or even other partisan ideologies. Conservatives are always individuals who want the America to maintain its identity and ignore any issues that minorities have raised. However, women, ethnic and racial minorities have believed that democrats are most likely to acknowledge their interests and help them in exploring better solutions that they need.

As a nation, we need to prioritize equal and sustainable economic development in the Red and Blue states. Evidently, the problem has escalated due to economic differences, which have led to some groups believing that the federal government has ignored their interests. In this regard, most leaders usually depend on these underlying issues that to get vast support in their bid for different political seats. Hence, the execution of sustainable economic development can play an important part in reducing the division that the country has encountered in recent years. The solution will also reduce the issue of social stratification, which has nurtured hatred and animosity between different classes who want to benefit from the national cake, but they believe only a specific group is taking everything.
