Week 8 Discussion 2

For the Week 8 Discussion, read the case study At Ford, Turnaround is Job One (Shein, 2012), which examines how Alan Mulally led the turnaround at Ford Motor Company as president and chief executive officer. Following this, read the other resources that discuss Mulally’s leadership and management skills (Carey & Keller, 2012; Kaipa & Kriger, 2010). Finally, review the executive summary that you created last week for your BPPG, as well as the articles and resources you have studied in the course until now.

Then, to prepare your post for the Week 8 Discussion, consider what Alan Mulally accomplished as a leader at Ford Motor Company. Ask yourself why his leadership was effective, and determine the lessons that can be learned from this example of leadership and management as they relate to the ideas, theories, and topics discussed throughout this course.

With these thoughts in mind:

By Day 5

Post your response to the following:

Using the leadership theories and practice perspectives that you have reviewed throughout the course, explain whether you think Alan Mulally was an effective and ethical leader of Ford Motor Company. Provide a rationale to justify your response. (Hint: The answer should not be “because he’s done well.” Your analysis should link leadership and management skills you have examined throughout the course to specific examples of Mulally’s successes or challenges while he was the leader at Ford.)

What lessons can you learn from this case? Explain the implications such lessons can have on your career as a leader and as a manager.

Unit V Scholarly Activity

Risk Assessment: Hazard Identification and Worksite Analysis

Using the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) model that we discussed in Units I, II, and III, you will develop a safety and health implementation plan. The plan will be developed in phases in Units IV, V, and VI, and will serve as reference information for a PowerPoint presentation that will be your course project in Unit VII.

For this unit’s assignment, you are in a critical aspect of the planning (P) phase of implementation. You will be assessing your workplace to identify hazards and determine the level of risk the hazards pose to the organization.

Continuing with the scenario introduced in Unit II (review Unit II PowerPoint assignment in the syllabus), you have completed the planning phase and are ready to move forward with the implementation of a safety management system. Using the information covered in this unit lesson, you will be performing an analysis to identify hazards and assess the risk associated with the hazards in your workplace (if you are not currently employed, you may use a former employer or you may simply select an industry of choice). Your assessment must include the following information:

identification of the workplace or industry assessed, date the assessment was performed, name and title of the person conducting the assessment,

identification of five hazards in the workplace, identification of the category each hazard falls into (e.g., physical, safety, ergonomics, etc.), identification of the consequences that could result from exposure to each hazard (i.e., what can happen), determination of the likelihood that an injury and/or illness will occur as a result of exposure to the hazard, determination of the severity of a resulting injury and/or illness, and determination of the level of risk (e.g., low, moderate, high, etc.).

Your assessment should be presented in a table and should be at least two pages, not counting your title and reference pages. You should include a one- to two-paragraph introduction for your assignment. You should include one outside source (e.g., OSHA JTA) besides your textbook as a reference for your assignment. All references must be cited and referenced according to APA standards.

risk mitigation (two different documents needed doc 1 atleast 500words and doc 2 atleast 1500 words)

#1. Pick an industry in the Resilinc 2018 Annual report. Describe uncertainties in the industry and possible risk mitigation. Search the internet for one or two examples of that industry and how they dealt with such uncertainty as described by Resilinc. (minimum of 500 words)

#2 Case Study – . In the first half of class, you have gained knowledge about global supply chain uncertainty, risk and probabilities, hazards and gain insight into a variety of industries’ risk. In the second half of class we have learned about business continuity, data modeling and visibility of disruptive events.

In a case study of your choice, conduct an analysis regarding risk, business continuity, data modeling, and visibility. Look at the Sample Case Study analysis to guide you on writing the case study. A case study analysis requires you to investigate a business problem, examine the alternative solutions, and propose the most effective solution using supportive evidence.

Select an industry or a company and answer the follow:

  1. Describe background information on the specific topic
  2. Analysis of the case showing problems or effective strategies to manage risk and resilience
  3. Offer recommendations on the best strategies for the organization or the industry.

Unit 6 Case Study Accounting

Instructions

Cookie Creations (Continued)
Part I

Natalie is struggling to keep up with the recording of her accounting transactions. She is spending a lot of time marketing and selling mixers and giving her cookie classes. Her friend John is an accounting student who runs his own accounting service. He has asked Natalie if she would like to have him do her accounting.

John and Natalie meet and discuss her business. John suggests that he do the tasks listed below for Natalie.

  1. Hold cash until there is enough to be deposited. (He would keep the cash locked up in his vehicle). He would also take all of the deposits to the bank at least twice a month.
  2. Write and sign all of the checks.
  3. Record all of the deposits in the accounting records.
  4. Record all of the checks in the accounting records.
  5. Prepare the monthly bank reconciliation.
  6. Transfer all of Natalie’s manual accounting records to his computer accounting program. (John would maintain all of the accounting information that he keeps for his clients on his laptop computer.)
  7. Prepare monthly financial statements for Natalie to review.
  8. Write himself a check every month for the work he has done for Natalie.

For Part I of the assignment, identify the weaknesses in internal control that you see in the system that John is recommending. Can you suggest any improvements if Natalie hires John to do the accounting?

Part I should be a minimum of two pages in length. Please use APA format. While there are no required resources, please be sure that any sources used have proper citations.

Part II

Natalie decides that she cannot afford to hire John to do her accounting. One way that she can ensure that her cash account does not have any errors and is accurate and up-to-date is to prepare a bank reconciliation at the end of each month. Natalie would like you to help her. She asks you to prepare a bank reconciliation for June 2020 using the information below.

General Ledger Cookie Creations

Additionally, take the following information into account.

  1. On June 30th, there were two outstanding checks: #595 for $238 and #604 for $297.
  2. Premier Bank made a posting error to the bank statement: Check #603 was issued for $425, not $452.
  3. The deposit made on June 20 was for $125, which Natalie received for teaching a class. Natalie made an error in recording this transaction.
  4. The electronic funds transfer (EFT) was for Natalie’s cell phone use. Remember that she uses this phone only for business.
  5. The NSF check was from Ron Black. Natalie received this check for teaching a class to Ron’s children. Natalie contacted Ron, and he assured her that she will receive a check in the mail for the outstanding amount of the invoice and the NSF bank charge.

For Part II of the assignment, complete the tasks below.

  • Prepare Cookie Creations’ bank reconciliation for June 30.
  • Prepare any necessary adjusting entries at June 30.
  • If a balance sheet is prepared for Cookie Creations at June 30, what balance will be reported as cash in the Current Assets section?

Part II can be completed in either Word or Excel. If you are completing Part II using Word, submit Parts I and II in one Word document. If you are completing Part II using Excel, upload Part I as a Word document and Part II as an Excel spreadsheet in Blackboard.

Social Media Discussion

You will all participate next week in a Communications Conference as part of the Week 8 forum discussion. Everyone will be presenting on a communications topic and be audience members for the presentations provided by others.

NOTE: Forum 8 requires you to post a presentation by Thursday midnight of Week 8. Look ahead to the requirements for that presentation and begin NOW researching and planning!

Your company is hosting the Communications Conference. As a presenter, you have been asked to help promote it. Your company and you personally have a social media presence on many different platforms, and you know that other professionals who might participate in the Communications Conference are followers.

Participate in BOTH of the following discussion threads this week:

Thread 1

Using text and/or visuals, before Thursday midnight, post at least ONE message encouraging participation in next week’s communications conference.

You can focus on encouraging participation in the entire conference OR just on participating in your specific planned presentation for next week.

Here are details about the conference, all or some of which you may want to mention:

  • It is virtual, free, and open to all professionals.
  • It will happen next week with presentations starting by Thursday midnight and audience participation continuing until Sunday midnight.
  • It has specific tracks and topics (see the Week 8 Discussion for that list).

Be creative! For instance, you are welcome to create a conference hashtag as part of your message! Of course, include images, audio, and/or video as needed as well. Follow these instructions for adding images, audio, and video

You can also up vote posts! Show with your up vote which social media posts in this thread you liked or really stood out to you.

Thread 2

Before Thursday midnight, discuss the strategies you used in Thread 1:

  • Which social media platform would your posting be most appropriate for (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) and why? Why did you choose that social media platform for advertising the conference?
  • What specific strategies did you use in your posting and why? How and why are those strategies usually successful in social media advertising?
  • How did your posting accomplish one or more of the purposes of social media messaging, such as providing complete and correct information, building community, and/or branding?

Before Sunday midnight, respond to at least two others. Do you agree or disagree with the platform used? Do you suggest any additional strategies to accomplish the same purpose? Do you have additional examples from the real world that demonstrate the strategy?

Thank you very much.

Effective communication is vital to constructing an accurate and detailed patient history. A patient’s health or illness is influenced by many factors, including age, gender, ethnicity, and environmental setting. As an advanced practice nurse, you must be aware of these factors and tailor your communication techniques accordingly. Doing so will not only help you establish rapport with your patients, but it will also enable you to more effectively gather the information needed to assess your patients’ health risks.

For this Discussion, you will take on the role of a clinician who is building a health history for a particular new patient assigned by your Instructor.

  Assigned patient:

14-year-old biracial male living with his grandmother in a high-density public housing complex

To prepare:

With the information presented in Chapter 1 of Ball et al. in mind, consider the following:

  • How would your communication and interview techniques for building a health history differ with each patient?
  • How might you target your questions for building a health history based on the patient’s social determinants of health?
  • What risk assessment instruments would be appropriate to use with each patient, or what questions would you ask each patient to assess his or her health risks?
  • Identify any potential health-related risks based upon the patient’s age, gender, ethnicity, or environmental setting that should be taken into consideration.
  • Select one of the risk assessment instruments presented in Chapter 1 or Chapter 5 of the Seidel’s Guide to Physical Examination text, or another tool with which you are familiar, related to your selected patient.
  • Develop at least five targeted questions you would ask your selected patient to assess his or her health risks and begin building a health history.

Post a summary of the interview and a description of the communication techniques you would use with your assigned patient. Explain why you would use these techniques. Identify the risk assessment instrument you selected and justify why it would be applicable to the selected patient. Provide at least five targeted questions you would ask the patient

chp.5 Assignment/Plagiarism FREE

Scenario – Jessica, a registered nurse (RN), and her husband are finally leaving on their vacation trip. They pull up at a red light as it is about to change to green. They watch in horror as a large truck, moving fast down a hill, in unable to stop before crashing into a van carrying a mother and her child. The van is thrown into the air and lands in a small park. Jessica runs over to offer aid. She finds a semi-conscious woman in the driver’s seat and an unconscious 4-year-old little boy in the back seat strapped into his car seat. The mother asks Jessica if Christopher is all right before she slips into unconsciousness. Christopher is unconscious and not breathing with his head down and touching his chest. He has a gash bleeding on the side of his head caused by his tricycle flying over the back seat during the crash. A truck driver, who also stopped to give help, yells in the window at Jessica, “Don’t move him!” Jessica knows that she has to get Christopher’s breathing started. Even though the truck driver is still yelling at her not to move the boy, she gently lifts his head off his chest. Christopher, still unconscious, starts breathing immediately. Jessica stops the bleeding on his head by applying pressure using a clean handkerchief from her husband. Emergency help arrives ten minutes later.

Instructions:

  1. Read the scenario above and then, answer the following questions:
    1. In your opinion, even though Jessica knew that, in most cases, an injured victim should not be moved, did she do the right thing by moving Christopher’s chin up so he could breathe?
    2. Was Jessica covered by the Good Samaritan law or was she held to a higher standard since she had a nursing license?
    3. Would Jessica have been covered by the Good Samaritan law if Christopher had not started breathing when she moved his head and he had suffered further injury from the movement?
    4. Was Jessica, an RN, legally required to stop and provide aid? Was she ethically obligated to stop and provide aid?
    5. In your opinion, is it always a good idea to stop and give assistance at an accident site before medical help arrives?
  2. Your paper should be:
    • One (1) page
    • Typed according to APA style for margins, formatting and spacing standards
    • Typed into a Microsoft Word document, included references.
