Unit 7 Power point & 8 Health Behavior Final Project

Unit VII Course Power Point Presentation Project

  • Weight: 15% of course grade

In this final course project, you are going to take everything you have learned in the course and apply it to a real-world scenario. As someone either already in the health field or interested in an area of health, you must be prepared to look at your community and find ways to improve it. In this scenario, you have been given the opportunity to present a proposal to community stakeholders who are considering different health initiatives. Luckily, you have been researching a particular health behavior in your community that you would like to improve. For this assignment, create a minimum 14-slide PowerPoint presentation (that equals about two slides per bullet) that addresses the points listed below.

  • Describe the role of health educators in communities and how they can assist in behavior change.
  • Identify the particular health issue that affects a population in your community. Describe and discuss the health issue, affected population, and your community.
  • Analyze how the health behavior you identified is affected by at least two levels of the socioecological model (positively or negatively).
  • Discuss how determinants of health affect the target population that you plan to reach through intervention.
  • Share the intervention strategy you plan to apply in your community to change health behavior as it relates to the health issue chosen.
  • Describe the strategies that you would use to communicate the intervention to the community. Make sure to be specific.
  • Last, discuss any barriers you may possibly face and how you plan to overcome them. This should include discussion of not only the intervention strategy, but also the evaluation of the intervention. What strategies could you use to prove or discredit health educator programming concerns?

Remember, you are trying to convince the group of stakeholders to choose your particular health intervention strategy as the next health initiative for the community. Your presentation should be interesting and contain graphics that are appropriate and attractive. You must also include slide notes that explain what you plan to say in your presentation. All information presented should be supported by research you have already conducted in this course, but you may also add new research if you choose. It would be to your advantage to utilize the feedback you have received from previous assignments and apply it to this unit. You must use a minimum of five resources, all which should be properly cited according to APA format. At least one of these sources must come from the CSU Online Library. Your cover and reference slide are not part of the 14-slide minimum.

Organizational Assessment (Marketing Background)

As a manager, you have to continually evaluate the organization and its strategy and consistently adapt the business model to ensure that the overall business plan is one step ahead of the competition.

In this assignment, you will get an opportunity to learn, from actual experiences, how an informed manager would assess the current overall health of an organization and make decisions regarding future opportunities and performance.

Tasks:

Select an industry relevant to your career (Marketing). If you lack work experience, you can base your selection on real-life market situations or business areas that you may have knowledge about. You can also consult sources such as the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Bloomberg Markets, the Economist, US News and World Report, and the Argosy University online library resources.

  • Research the growth opportunities in the industry, competitive strategies that were employed, typical customers, and other relevant information related to the industry. Specific opportunities will differ depending on the industry selected, but be sure to consider current economic events and news relating to the industry that may influence the future direction of your industry.
  • Within this industry, select a midrange-performing company that provides goods or services. Then, address the following:
    • Analyze why this company maintains the level of success it does from an economic and financial perspective. Develop at least two visual aids (e.g., charts, graphs, or tables) to support your argument.
    • Evaluate whether the company’s pricing and positioning decisions contribute to or hinder that success.
  • Evaluate whether the strategy currently used by your industry, as discussed in previous sections, appears to be sustainable over time.

Create a 3 page research paper. At the end your paper, include a reference page and cite scholarly sources in APA style.

Submission Details:

  • By the due date assigned, save your paper as M3_A2_lastname_firstinitial.doc and submit your document to the Submissions Area.

This assignment is worth 200 points.

unit6_assignment

This assignment, your second research assignment, builds on the  readings in Units 4, 5 and 6. Please use the pre-formatted Unit 6 APA  Assignment Template, linked in the Resources. You may also consult the  APA Style Template, also provided in the Resources, but be certain to  complete your assignment using the unit-specific template.

The basic concept you will address is how ethics, human resources  and talent, and information systems and knowledge management contribute  to the overall performance of the organization. Pick three (3) specific  concepts, one from Unit 4 Ethics, Unit 5 HRM, and Unit 6 IS/KM—and then  address them within each section of the assignment.

When conducting your research, be prepared to answer the following:

Introduction

  • Always begin all doctoral research papers by describing the  purpose of the paper including the specifics of what will be covered in  the body. Typical length is 150 to 200 words.

Theory–Article Deconstruction

  • Apply MEAL to deconstruct the selected three articles.
    • Main points for each article. Include at least three but no more than five points.
    • Evidence. What type of data is presented? Is it factually supported or an opinion? What are the sources of data?
    • Analysis. What type of analysis, evaluation, or application are presented in the article?
    • Linking. How well do the authors in each of  the articles convey their ideas, facts, analysis and support? This gets  at readability of each article
  • Typical length: 300 words per article.

Case Study Application

  • Select a Fortune 500 company for your case discussion. This  company must be different than the one you used for the Unit 3  assignment.

7710 and 7711 discussion

PSY7710 ACTIVITY 1

Ethical Elements 4 and 5

In this unit, we look at Ethical Elements 4 and 5. Choose one of the three scenarios below and answer the following (please put in the subject line which scenario you are discussing):

  • Describe how you would handle the scenario.
  • Discuss how the scenario meets or violates the specific ethics code(s).

Scenario 1:

A BCBA works with a mother who homeschools her child. The child is a 6-year-old boy with autism. The BCBA has done a functional assessment and has identified the controlling variables for the child’s target behavior. In the opinion of the BCBA, the best data collection system for gathering baseline data would require daily entries by the mother. A data-collection system has been designed that is easy to understand and score; however, the mother does not take the data despite the BCBA’s best attempts to prompt and reinforce her. This child really needs help, but with no data it will be hard to provide treatment. Should the BCBA terminate services (Bailey & Burch, 2016, p. 341)?

PSY7711 ACTIVITY 1

For this discussion, write and submit a statement describing the behavior you intend to research. Your instructor will review your statement and either approve your selected topic or consult with you to help you select another.

You must describe a target behavior that has a foundation of research in ABA SSD. Be sure to select a topic that has a foundation of research sufficient to provide you with a minimum of five recent journal articles in the assignment in Unit 10.

Then, search through the ABA literature and locate one study that is on your chosen topic for the Unit 10 assignment. Summarize the study using the criteria for the assignment.

  • Describe subjects and settings.
  • Describe the design and discuss internal, external, and social validity.
  • Describe the treatments and identify strengths and limitations of the treatments.
  • Provide an overall conclusion and discuss potential areas for future research.
  • Provide a visual analysis of the results of the graph, utilizing the terms trend, variability, stability, and level.

COMPOSITION Essay + Outline

Persuasive Writing Intro

The final writing assignment is a persuasive essay about the Minimum Wage.  Should it be raised to $15?

What’s the connection between Lies, Truth, Fake News and the Minimum Wage?   The question of raising the minimum wage is a hot economic and political topic.  Democrats wanted it to be part of the last COVID-19 Relief Bill, but they couldn’t get enough support.  Some economists believe it will have positive social and economic effects.  Other economists believe it will decrease the number of jobs.  Small business owners worry about the cost of covering higher wages.  Conservative politicians are usually against a dramatic raise of the minimum wage.  There are vocal supporters and opponents of the issue.  Discussion relies on statistics and complex economic arguments.

Your task will be to take a stand and find information that supports your arguments.  You will be finding information that may be truthful or biased.  In sum, you’ll be using the information and skills we have been discussing.

Topic:  You will take a firm position on whether the minimum wage should be raised to $15 an hour and identify at least two arguments to convince others of your position on the minimum wage in a four-five-page academic essay that would be appropriate for a course on economics, political science, sociology, or business.  To be persuasive, you should also discuss a counter-argument and explain why your arguments are superior or more important.

As part of this assignment, you will submit

I have provided some articles to start our thinking.  We will analyze whether we believe the sources are credible.  You will need to find additional sources.  Tools that you will need include those we have recently discussed:

Tools for Making Informed and Thoughtful Decisions about “Truth”

  • An understanding of key terms like truthlieopinion, and fact
  • An awareness of how fact checkers can be useful
  • An awareness of how numbers can be used to deceive
  • Ways to identify and evaluate “experts”
  • An awareness of “slippery words” and how they can slant a report
  • A method for detecting fake news
  • An understanding of bias and objectivity in news reporting
  • An awareness of “tribal” thinking
  • Recognition of the importance of peer-reviewed journals

We will read these sources together as a starting point.  We will also evaluate whether they are good sources.

1.  “Increase in Minimum Wage Kills Jobs,”  Employment Policies Institute, OpEd

2.  “Minimum Wage and Job Loss: One Alarming Seattle Study Is Not the Last Word,”  Arindrajit Dube, New York Times  (this article is a good source for support to arguments)

3.  “New Minimum Wage Hikes Set to Kill Jobs in 2018,”  Brendan Pringle, Washington Examiner  (This article links to research against)

4.  CBO  (Links to an external site.)Report Finds $15 Minimum Wage Would Cost Jobs But Lower Poverty Levels” (Links to an external site.)  Eli Rosenberg, Washington Post

DOC VERSION of the article

Actions

1.  “The Controversial Study Showing High Minimum Wages Kills Jobs, Explained,”  Jeff Guo, Vox

2.  “Study: Seattle’s $15 Minimum Wage WORKED,”  David Pakman, HuffPost

Here are some Frequently-Asked Questions (FAQs)

How many page?  4-5

How many sources?  4-5 sources.  You can use the sources I provided as a start.  But you must find at least TWO other sources. (The sources that are going to be used must be good sources, be careful with that)

Can I use quotes in my essay?  Yes!  But you must be sure to punctuate correctly and to use the appropriate MLA formatting.  You can practice the strategy from They say, I say— quote someone and then explain what the quote says.

Do I need to have a counterargument?  NO.

Database Marketing

 Database Marketing

This week you will obtain information on database marketing to support the Marketing Mix section of your Final Project.  As discussed in Chapter 10 of the course text, database marketing centers on gathering customer-based information such as gender, age, occupation, and lifestyles. As an example, to better understand the wants and needs of patients and their families, the Happy Valley marketing director monitors activities on the long-term care center’s web page. Data is collected regarding specific links viewed such as activities, skilled care services offered, and physical therapy. If a certain link is viewed more than other links, this could indicate to the marketing director that potential patients and their family members prefer specific amenities or services. Those amenities or services would then be marketed as a priority for the organization. Considering the marketing plan for your chosen healthcare organization.

  • Describe your understanding of database marketing and how it could potentially be applied to your marketing plan for the Final Project.
  • Discuss the benefits and drawbacks of using database marketing.
  • State the ethical, legal, and HIPAA issues that need to be considered.
  • Articulate reasons why you would implement or exclude the use of database marketing in your marketing plan for the Final Project.

The paper

  • Must be three to four double-spaced pages in length
  • Use Level 1 & 2 headings (questions above used as headings)
  • Must use at least three scholarly sources in addition to the course text.

Ethical Dilemma Activity

Ethical Dilemma Activity

6262 unread replies.6262 replies.

An ethical dilemma is when we are faced with an ethical decision that asks us to weigh two of our moral beliefs, or two of our moral codes, and decide which is more important. For this activity, you’ll be asked to look at one short ethical dilemma and decide what you would do.

TASK:

Step 1:

Find your name next to a scenario below.  Once you find your scenario, read it carefully; then post a reply explaining what you’d do. Defend your choice using the ethical principles in the reading. Explain what you weighed in your mind before making your decision and why you think it’s the best choice.

When you post your answer, please copy and paste the scenario prompt, and then include your answer below it, so that your readers can see which scenario you are responding to.

Step 2:

After you’ve posted to your group, respond to 2 of your group members’ posts.  Read the ethical scenario they are responding to and then their answer.  Then comment on whether you agree or disagree with their choice and/or their reasoning. You might consider if they are missing something that would be important for you to consider.

Note: Replies are threaded, so be careful to reply to the person you intend to reply to.

Note: I have split you into groups, so you’ll only see a handful of people’s replies (not the entire class).

Scenario 2: You have been nominated for an award at work. However, you realize that you have been nominated for work that a co-worker mostly did, with only minor help from you. However, that co-worker no longer works for your
company. It seems no one knows the truth about who did the work. You believe that you are a better employee than the other 2 people nominated for the award, and you’ve been at the company a lot longer than the other 2 people. You’ve been wanting a promotion and the award could help you build your resume and advance within the company. What do you do?
